1catherine1 - How did the removal go .. Was it painfree? Mine comes out on Wedneday and I'm very excited Grin ... Seems like i've been waiting forever.

ION - My pregnancy tests turned up - And i POAS twice just to practice ... Oh the shame!

I wonder if we will start seeing any BFP's soon from people that have already started TTC!

Well ladies I am off to the Dr's tomorrow to discuss how they are going to get this damned coil out of me, they've confirmed it's still in there, but in the 'wrong place' so I will get specifics tomorrow and a plan of action! Wish me luck!

It went well thanks Hippo. The most painful bit is the the injection to numb the area but that wasn't too bad. She said it came out easily so it shouldn't bruise too bad either. I have the tiniest bruise. Good Luck on Wednesday!

Welcome newcomers! That sounds very frustraiting Mushi, I'm not good with the whole patience thing so I think that would drive me crazy!

Oh Golden, that doesn't sound good. I was contemplating using the coil next time as the implant adds serious weight on me - To the extent I only gained 6 lbs during my whole last pregnancy! Your tale is putting me off though. Is there any chance of it doing damage? Good luck!

Goldenhandshake · 02/05/2013 15:15

1Catherine If it perforates the uterus it has the potential to cause damage as I believe they'd need to repair it with surgery Confused
The hardest part is not knowing what is going on and the Dr being so blase about it all, at the ultrasound the nurse wouldn't tell me where it was, just that she could 'see it' but not the threads, so they have either broken off or twisted around the coil itself.
It has caused me some pain though, very low down on the right side of my abdomen near the front of my pelvis/hip bone. I also get very erratic, irregular bleeding, probably for the last three motnhs now so I am guessing this is when it moved/migrated.
It's all very worrying Sad

Hubby feeling better this morning so managed to squeeze in a quickie before work.
Think i'm towards the end if my fertile window but I don't have a clue. I was determined to take it easy and not use OPKs but I may have to get some for next month just to double check. I really noticed a change in my cm last month but not so much this month unless I've got my timing all wrong Confused. Apologies if TMI

I just rang the hospital to chase up the results of the smear test I had 3 weeks ago. There was a labelling error and the lab couldn't analyse it so I have to go back and do it again. I'm so upset. It was the first time I've ever had a smear.
When I was 19 I found out I was pregnant but then started bleeding a few days later. I went to the family planning clinic and the nurse did an internal examination and it was so awful, I'm really squeamish and it was bloody and unpleasant and I passed out. It turned out to be an early miscarriage and I'm totally fine with it but it's that internal examination which has haunted me ever since. This was over 10 years ago. I tried to have a smear about 5 years ago but I fainted on the table and they told me to come back the next day, which of course I didn't. I've put it off ever since. This time I was so determined, because I wanted an all clear before ttc, that I managed to go through with it, even though I found it really traumatic. I managed to hold out until after the smear was done but I still fainted AFTER they finished. I feel so stupid every time. The poor nurse ended up giving me a bit of her lunch to get my blood sugar up. I can't believe I have to do this all again because somebody mislabelled the sample. I'm so frustrated! Everyone keeps saying, yes but everyone has to do it, it's nothing compared to when you're pregnant etc. and it's making me question whether I'm actually capable of having a baby.
Sorry, having a bit of a cry/rant. I really needed to get that off my chest.

Well I am back from the Dr's, thank you for your well wishes, scan shows the threads have twisted and are wrapped around the coil, which explains why they weren't visible on inspection. The coil has also shifted up and is veering towards my right ovary/tube, so that also explains the pains I have been getting.
Next step is a referral to hospital gynae who will remove it under sedation. Dr's surgery are going to contact me within the next week I ahve to collect some paperwork from them I can then apparently book the appoitnment myself on lien and they are giving me a choice of hospitals so I can get seen as soon as possible.

Coffee how soon did the say you should have a withdrawal bleed after removal? I am totally clueless as I've been so focused on just gettign it out to begin with.

Flowers MushiMushi it sounds like you were really brave and very sensible to want to get it out the way before ttc. It sounds like the nurse was nice and sympathetic so maybe you could request for her to do the next one too? Please don't feel stupid!! It is a common fear which you should tell the nurse about beforehand (if you didn't already), they'll have come across it loads before honestly and she may be able to help by explaining things better etc. Maybe take some chocolate with you too. Sending big hugs

Well at least you got some answers Golden. I hope the next one goes well you you can get it out of the way. Actually, you've reminded me that I've never had one... I got my first reminder when I was pregnant last time so it was never done - I'll get that booked..

Well AF arrived today - I'm glad really because I think I need one before ttc although I'm not sure if its a real one or not. Do you get pretend ones after the implant?

Morning all, how's everyone doing? I've been bleeding the last 2 days which is most unusual for me (cd19) and wondered if it was ovulation bleeding but it's getting heavier so I'm now thinking af has arrived super early. I've started a new thread about it to see if any knowledgable mnetters have experienced anything similar.

Hello everyone, hope your all doing well. Sorry I haven't been around for a while, I had such a hectic week last week and then came down with a stomach bug :(

I think I've missed my chances for this month, which I feel sort of fine about! How's everyone else doing?

Mushi what a nightmare for you! Do what I do and whenever you have to have a smear, always plan a treat for yourself to have after then keep thinking the deserved treat :) I do this for the dentist and smear tests! Good luck, you done it once you can do it again :)

Disney sorry I missed your question! I was on Cerazette for about 3/4 years, during this time I had an occasional bleed but very rare and most of the time I had nothing! I came of Cerazette on the 11th November and had a bleed the week before Christmas, then my first proper AF in January. Have you had any signs of a bleed yet? x

I am in my second month of ttc but my story is a little different as I am a single mum. I went out and dtd with a randomer when I was fertile. I intend to do this until I fall pregnant Please do not judge me. Wouldn't any single broody women do the same. My feelings and needs are as important as married/partnered womens. It sometimes seems that you are not allowed to be broody unless you are part of a couple, but it knows no boudaries.
I am almost 2 weeks late on period and I have done about 6 tests all negative though. I was told last week by a medic that because would be conception date was over 3 weeks ago it would have shown up by now so it is just a late period. I have never wanted my period so badly because at least then I can work out my fertile dates for next month. xxx

Welcome to the thread C999, I think most understand the broodiness - a dear friend of mine is 30 and single and talking of doing it alone. Although she was talking more of sperm donation. Good luck.

I have a question for those who have had come of the implant, how long was your first period? I thought I was having my first proper period this weekend but it only last a day and a half then stopped. I'm not sure what to make of it, It was quite heavy and have been very tired and had terrible migraines (something a real period often does to me) but it was over so quickly. Perhaps it was because the implant had only been out 3 days? I hope its not only me and Hippo who have been using the implant or I'm going to have a week to wait to get an answer! Yes it's tomorrow Grin. 1catherine I think you get a withdrawel bleed but not sure how light/heavy it is or how long it is meant to last. Me and DP DTD last night on the basis of I could still get upduffed ... And also i went out at the weekend and stocked up on AF equipment at the weekend (keeping my fingers crossed though that i won't have to use it)

We still haven't had a BFP here yet!!

Thanks everyone. I've had a lovely weekend away camping with a group of friends so I'm in a much better head space than last week. I'm going to go back for another smear tomorrow, I'm not looking forward to it but last time I was petrified. These things happen for a reason I suppose, maybe doing another one so soon will help me get over my fear a bit sooner.

A few friends were there with their children this weekend and it was wonderful seeing my partner with them, he's a total natural when it comes to kids so I'm feeling even more positive that we're making the right decision.

C99 I don't judge you at all, I was briefly considering doing something similar myself a few years ago. Good luck! I know what you mean about wanting to get to know fertile dates etc, I've become obsessed with checking calendars. I'd love a spring baby but my impatience is overriding my control freakery!

hi everyone, we've just started ttc, finally waved goodbye to AF and am on CD10 of usually a 33 day cycle (although last month was 28 - typical!) so not ovulated yet.

thing is, we have a holiday booked in 3 weeks and DM keeps regaling me with how horrific her morning sickness was with me, and her mum was the same etc, and should wait til after the holiday.

this has delayed us for a couple of months but now I really don't think I can wait another month to get started, and DH wants us to start now too.

should we just go for it, or do u think it would be best to wait? I would be very very surprised if we conceived straight away and what are the chances I'd be so ill so soon and ruin the holiday?

am I worrying about nothing and should we just get on with dtd?

Hi tiny polka dot!

I am in a very similar situation with a holiday with friends booked for two and a half weeks. We did consider waiting to start trying until after the holiday, but actually we both got a bit over excited and are now actively trying!

I decided that there will always be something that makes it not quite the right time, and the chances of getting knocked up first time are so slim that it is better to start!

My AF is also due the day we fly so figured if I am feeling all disappointed at least I can scoff cheese and red wine in France!!

Hope that helps!

Welcome to the thread Tiny.

Well IMO, the way I see it is simple, if it takes you 6 months to get pregnant (which the nurse informs me is average) - how disappointed are you going to be that you kept putting it off? Personally I'd just do it and I had morning sickness with my first - but in fairness it was kinda predictable. Everyday around 3pm and whenever I was in mothercare (I think it was the smell). And I'm ttc now which if my morning sickness is the same this time then would be majorly inconvenient, I'm a teacher and leaving my class at 3pm every day is frowned upon Hmm - but I want DC2, so I'm gona do it anyway!
