I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this thread but maybe someone will have some idea!

Basically, since I was 15 I have had a phobia of sick. Sounds really stupid as noone likes sick of course but I am soooo scared of it!

I have had homeopathy medicine and hypnotherapy treatment to try and overcome this horrid phobia but they didn't work.

My husband and I are starting ttc in the very near future and I went to my doctor for a checkup etc and inform him of ttc. I also mentioned my phobia and said that I am worried regarding morning sickness and when kids are ill. He said that he will send me for some counselling when I actually fall pregnant.

I am fine with baby sick as looks just like milk but am worried re morning sickness during pregnancy and when kids are older. I couldn't bear to think of me leaving my kids throwing up - what an awful mum I would be!!

Does anyone have any ideas of what I could do now and if anyone has a similar phobia I would be so grateful for some advice.

Similarly if anyone knows if there is a better place to post this thread please tell me!

Thanks for listening and hopefully understanding.

Oh yes, Martian, I have a plethora of items at my disposal. Had to go and get the dettol out of the upstairs bathroom to check exactly what it is. All I know is that the kids sometimes share germs with each other but not every time. DH and I are rarely ill. It seems to be a very random science! Grrrrrr!

yes, it's hard to predict isn't it? I think I was the spreader of our last tummy bug and dd's only one. She was in A&E for something unrelated and the consultant we saw said they were beleagured with kids with gastroenteritis bugs that day. I spent our whole time there obsessively getting dd to wash her hands after touching anything and must've forgotten to wash mine as often because I got it first, then dd, then dp. It was very nasty. And there ended my 30-year beliefe in my own immunity to bugs!

Yes snuffy I do exactly the same as you with regard to hygiene.

I guess with me its more others than myself and always has been as I was growing up I hardly was ever sick so really it didn't bother me too much, I even used to go clubbing and it never really bothered me too much to stop me going. Never keen on sharing taxis though, I always made sure I sat in the front!!!

I only felt I needed to seek help for it when I had kids because I felt like I was letting them down each time they got ill. Thankfully though its not often they get ill (touch wood).
