Ladies - a brand new lovely shiny thread for us to fill! Enjoy x

jmf Have you tried using the cheapie OPKs? I got on better with those than the CB... Just a thought.
I did not detect any ovulation between my ERPC and the first AF, it's very frustrating. I think it does mess up your body quite a lot.

Don't get too disheartened by it, I know it's easier said than done, but you're body has been through so much...

fod27 · 19/03/2013 12:31

Glad to see im not alone, I've been testing all week and nothing!! If I had my ERPC on the 28 and stopped bleeding around ten days later well I spotted for another 4 days when should I be testing?

IBelieveInPink · 19/03/2013 14:32

saggy /chocolate the whole 'it's not the right time honey' thing worked for me.
The month previous the whole dtd issue was a right drama, and had to really put effort in and neither of us enjoyed it. Created quite a bit of resentment for us both.
This last month I always said (whether it was or not) oh, it's too early or too late for that, or I think we have missed it for this month anyway.
Clearly worked as I got my BFP!
Worth a try, we both enjoyed it more too :)

HotCrossCatPuss · 19/03/2013 17:02

Im going to try it! We've had a day or two off, and today is the first time in ages that Ive received a saucy text! Grin Got to be worth a go! Wink I got a faint line on the OPK again this morning, so heres hoping there's still a chance.

Bakingtins · 19/03/2013 17:19

Well, I think that's the most positive GP appointment I've ever had. I didn't need to cry, she was bending over backwards to be helpful. They are going to arrange all the tests that have been suggested that are available on the NHS and has suggested I ask the consultant about waiting times, she is happy to refer me as an NHS patient if they are not too long. Going back tomorrow for the first (of many) blood letting sessions. Finally some positive progress. Smile

Thundercatsarego · 19/03/2013 17:20

Hooray tins!

Hi everyone else x

icklemssunshine1 · 19/03/2013 17:20

Baking that's brilliant news! Here's hoping dora speedy referral &treatment :)

icklemssunshine1 · 19/03/2013 17:21

That should say "to a" not "dora". What's with iPhone & predictive text?!!

icklemssunshine1 · 19/03/2013 17:25

fod, hope someone can give you some useful advice (so I can steal it)! Had my ERPC on 27th but still having some discharge. Have DTD a couple of times (thought I had finished spotting) but think now I'm just going to wait to AF. Hate having to wait but I think my body's being v slow to recover. Stupid body, definitely feeling all of my 34 years today!!

HotCrossCatPuss · 19/03/2013 17:32

Fod if you dont get AF, I suppose four weeks after the bleeding stopped would be sensible.
Baking Im soo pleased for you. x

Ive still got brown/dark red discharge, but Im ignoring it. Getting faint line on OPK so am just DTD and keeping positive.

GardenWorm · 19/03/2013 18:00

Excellent tins - if you don't mind my asking, what tests will they do? I'm getting my bloods checked tomorrow after I begged and looked like I was going to cry! (Mainly thyroid related - family history)

fod27 · 19/03/2013 19:08

Thanks guys did another today and still nothing...to top it off another one of my students is pregnant!!!! Should I chuck a Kiev at her?!!!! I now have to play the supportive tutor! Brill!
Think I will test again tonight n cross everything!
Its sooo frustrating isn't it? I could get my head around trying again etc etc....but now I'm thinkin "what if I've stopped ovulatin? What if my cycles are a mess? Will I be able to ttc?"

fod27 · 19/03/2013 19:11

Also is this selfish? My brother starts chemo this week and I've done some research, apparently the cancer he has can be treated with a bone marrow transplant....the best match is usually a sibling, as my sister was adopted that leaves only me....thing is it can't be done if I'm pregnant...I'm not getting any younger tho and I might be one of those ladies that has numerous mc's...who knows? What to do??? Help

Thundercatsarego · 19/03/2013 19:14

Hey fod, that is fascinating about the transplant. Do you know when it would need to be done?

GardenWorm · 19/03/2013 19:34

Hmm fod can you get checked now to see if you would match and if so isnt there an option for them to store it?

JanieLovesCake · 19/03/2013 19:44

wow tins that's fab!! great to see that some GPs are human :) hope they get the ball rolling soon :)

fod that's really promising for your brother, i'm sure there's a million questions you need to ask.

for those chatting about the opks, i've used the cheapies with both my bfps. the low cost means i didn't feel guilty abut poas as often as i needed to, especially as my cycles were so long (46-50 days). i used the cb dgi ones but they ran out before i got a smiley face and i couldn't justify buying more that month. we dtd every night from my first faint line on the cheap opks, after abuot 7 days it got a bit darker. thought it was better to dtd in the run up to ov as much as possible, even if we did start a bit early but it worked :)

how are you doing garden and lucky and jbrd?

Mummytothearkbuilder · 19/03/2013 19:55

Exactly the same for me Jaine - I have super long cycles so will only use the cheapie ones off amazon (otherwise I will be broke!!) and then I don't feel guilty about POAS everyday of my cycle.

Bakin - that's fab news, really pleased the G.P was supportive

bakin that's great news, good to see you sounding so positive Smile

Hi to everyone else Smile

Bakingtins · 19/03/2013 20:28

Garden ferritin (iron stores) full blood count, TSH (thyroid) and karyotyping for both of us now. Day 2-3 FSH/LH as soon as I get AF. Lots of bloods for autoimmune disease and antiphospholipid syndrome 6 weeks post MC. I have to go private for antimullerian hormone as that's not available on NHS, but consultant had already said that. I will have no blood left, but in a good cause.
Posifricking-hope they come up with some answers!

Bakingtins · 19/03/2013 20:35

Fod you must have very conflicting feelings about that possibility. Agree with garden is tissue typing or getting tested now an option? If you're not a close match then you've done your bit and can forget it. If you are, I think bone marrow has to be transferred relatively quickly from donor to recipient. When in the projected course of treatment for your brother would he benefit from a transplant? Would it mean a delay in TTC of just a few months or a long time? I think I'd feel the need to help a real person whom you obviously care about over a hypothetical child that doesn't yet exist, but on the other hand can understand the clock ticking and the need to be pregnant again. Very tough one. Are there any other potential matches? Parents? Children?

fod27 · 19/03/2013 23:53

The transplant can only be done once he is in remission....however he won't even discuss his cancer let alone the possibility of a bone marrow, he has to undergo medication first followed by exploratory surgery to see how far it has spread, apparently other relatives are rarely a match...as we share the same parents, genetics etc makes me the best option. It's killing my mother as she wants to be the one to help him, however there is a register of donors...must admit tho I'm scares to try and scared not to try...hope that makes sense

tins I'm glad to see things are on the up for you cxxxx

Bakingtins · 20/03/2013 07:13

No pressure then(!) That's very difficult if it's an open ended thing. Can you be tested/ typed even if at the moment he's not considering accepting a donation? If you are not a match that lets you off the hook with family pressure.

fod27 · 20/03/2013 08:37

That's a thought....going to have to look into I think
Nothing's ever simple is it?

jmf294 · 20/03/2013 08:39

Fod I really feel for you and your family- your poor brother it is a difficult journey for him and he's only at the beginning. If you were to get pregnant soon wouldn't the baby be born before a transplant was needed.

Thank you for all the positive vibes yesterday.
The suggestion to do a OPK twice a day made me smile- sometimes I have done it 4 times- yep crazy!!
More chilled out today but still no smiley so no 2013 baby for me.
2014 will be a great year for a baby!!

Vocalista86 · 20/03/2013 08:46

Hi all, hope everyone has a good Wednesday.

AF is due Saturday and it's so so hard not to test now! Anyone else feeling it too?!

xx
