Entrant criteria: TTC #1, over 30, TTC for 3+months, OPK & EWCM obsession, NO instadiffers. (Thread 6)

Jeez Raining i am never going to moan about DP's ex ever again! I've not met her yet but I suspect when we do we would actually get on pretty well.

Bunny I am going with the law of Sod. I don't particularly want a baby born round Dec/Jan either as DP has a birthday then & says it is rubbish but if I go for it anyway then it will probably happen! Could be worse - when AF was late last month I worked out the due date was likely to have been SS's birthday!!

SidneyBristow · 12/03/2013 13:27

Frog don't get too down; I think whether NHS will cover it depends on where you live. My GP is nearly certain our area is a no-zone, and I'm too fragile scared to research it myself right now. Hand on heart, I can say I love my SKs, but when not a day goes by that it isn't pointed out in one way or another that they aren't "mine," it's hard to reconcile that they could easily determine whether or not I ever get any that are mine.

They've always had 50-50 custody, and thank God for it. In our case my DH is the more attentive/involved parent; her mothering technique is much more about what she wants/needs than it is about the kids'. For me, it's the schedule I find hard to cope with: frequent comings/goings mean frequent contact/input with a difficult person, and sometimes my little toehold in this family is hard to maintain.

Frog I wish my SKs would beg for a bro/sis - last week my SD did a cheer when it was stated that 'mummy and daddy won't be having anymore babies together' - evidently stepmothers aren't also babymakers Hmm Thanks for sharing that your DH has this same overly cheerful attitude - I thought it was just mine being a Pollyanna. Usually he and I are a great team, but this past week hasn't been a good one. Most of the time, I actually like my SKs being here, but when AF arrives, I need some time to put myself back together, and being expected to entertain SS alone (after I'd told him I couldn't face it) really was a dick move. He knows it.

Should've said long ago Rain that I'm glad for you getting the testing you need, even if it does take far too long a while to get results back. When's your appt with the fertility clinic? Have you been told yet what to expect from them?

Merkin have had a similar pain in the past - depending on where you are in your cycle, it could be a very good sign! Fx for you that it is.

Itsalwaysraining · 12/03/2013 15:27

Merkin, what DPO are you? And, can we see your chart?

Sid, my appointment on the 3rd April is to discuss what they found during my lap & dye three weeks ago (one blocked tube and endo behind right ovary). I know the consultant will refuse to unblock my tube as he thinks my lack of BFP since mc is simply due to my age (41). Nevertheless I will be begging and weeping for the surgery. The AMH test is for my personal peace of mind; I don't want to go into IVF thinking my egg supply is brilliant if it isn't.

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/03/2013 16:56

6 DPO, chart link on its way

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/03/2013 17:27

FFS where has my share button gone on Fertility Fucker?

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/03/2013 17:28

Does this work or does it show you your chart??

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/03/2013 17:31

It won't, but this should

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/03/2013 17:31

No laughing at my blatently crap temps this month ;)
On that note does anyone know how FF figures your coverline? I think mine is high...

Itsalwaysraining · 12/03/2013 17:44

Merkin, 1) I am jealous of your intercourse frequency pattern, 2) When you use 'X' for intercourse what do you mean? Inbetween AM and PM? 3) How come you ovulated on the same day as your LH surge? Hmm 4) If you're not preggo this month I will not only eat my hat I will regurgitate it and feed it to you, too.

Itsalwaysraining · 12/03/2013 17:48

Smerkin (see what I did there?), FF will put your coverline just above the highest of the six temps prior to ovulation.

Frogcatcher · 12/03/2013 17:54

I think i can answer a couple of these for Merkin. The X is when you just say "yes" rather than specifying AM or PM for DTD. From what i gather (tho I'm an FF newbie) FF seems to reckon that you ovulate the same day as the temp surge.

Looks like a textbook chart to me Merkin - FX for you!!

Itsalwaysraining · 12/03/2013 17:59

Do you remember me posting a link to a thread where a 45 year-old had had a surprise BFP last week? She is miscarrying at 7 + 2 Sad

Itsalwaysraining · 12/03/2013 18:02

Frog, knowing how utterly anal precise our Merkin is - and the fact that sometimes she uses AM and PM - I would suggest her use of 'X' signifies lunchtime shaggery.

FF says ovulation takes place the day before the hike in temp.

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/03/2013 18:19

Oh raining that's awful. I hate life at times. Poor woman
Remember I am just married. We are not yet sick of having sex Wink Grin(I could leave it there and act all smug but actually sometimes I am practically forcing poor DH into it!)
X is because I don't really what difference putting AM and PM makes. (And I didn't realise you could specify until recently). 'Yes' comes top of the BD list on my phone therefore easiest.
I have no idea why FF decided I O'd on the same day as the surge. i read something once about there are different ways you can get it to calculate (currently on advanced) and that one way leads with temps as the main sign. I may have a play in a minute and see what setting it the other way does. I'm not wholly convinced I O'd as I don't like the crappy (low) temp hike. And this chart is nowhere near as textbook as some of my others yet I am not upduffed yet!

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/03/2013 18:21

We shall see when AF arrives. i got bored of OPK's but should have continued as 4DPO looks like a better O temp rise to me (and if so we're fucked as gave DH a rest from all the shagging!)

SidneyBristow · 12/03/2013 18:22

Oh how sad Rain. I read that thread and was so happy for the OP & her partner. TTC is just the first step, it seems.

le sigh. I hate this time of the month, when the shock/distress over AF has subsided, and I start thinking about what to start doing/do differently the next cycle. With all this FF talk, that might be my next move...got the BT last month and put it aside, thinking vacation sex was all I needed. If only! [slopes off to re-read SMEP and FF primer in hopes to understand all this chart chat in the near future; has grim flashbacks to trigonometry & analytical geometry class from high school and shudders at the thought of trying to find the correct degree of the rise of the cover line, or whatever]

ILoveMyCats · 12/03/2013 18:26

no news, just saying hi and sending happy vibes to where they're needed Smile

Bunnygirlie · 12/03/2013 18:27

Evening ladies, what's occurring?

OP posts:
Itsalwaysraining · 12/03/2013 18:41

Merkin, there is no way you would have got a +OPK four whole days before ov. Plus, your fertile cm dried up on CD18. So there.

Frogcatcher · 12/03/2013 18:43

In a particularly bored moment today I tried the FF chart analysis game & it always seem to go for the temp surge as the major indicator of O on that. I reckon they don't trust anyone's ability to POAS/PIMP correctly & analyse the lines so take a computer algorithm over any kind of human input! My chart has some "open circles" for no apparent reason but a solid one where the temp was 3 hrs later than normal. Go figure...

happylass · 12/03/2013 18:55

Oh that poor lady Rain. Heartbreaking to think we could be going through all this just for it to end so awfully Sad

Can I share my FF chart from my phone/iPad? If so, how?? Using FF for the first time this month though been charting for a while. Crosshairs seem to move every day. No idea if I've OVd or not. Would like a second opinion.

Itsalwaysraining · 12/03/2013 18:56

Frog, if your timing of temps is particularly shit erratic, FF will actually re-set your default time to that which appears most often. It will, however, only do this after five episodes of a change in temp.

Itsalwaysraining · 12/03/2013 18:57

You are, however, quite correct in assuming FF doesn't trust us mere mortals
