Put on your vest/shades and grab your weapons, it's Action Hero Time.

The BESH are experts in all matters action, but specialise in taking out the local droids and sometimes Druids Wink

Cover me, I'm going in!

Cross post - Rie that's great news, good luck!

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/02/2013 19:46

Oh Moll. Sorry, but your image did make you smile! The disconsolate chucking of the non detonating hand grenade, that is.

Babies in your own home is a bit of a headfuck, admittedly. Here, have this whiting.

Northey · 08/02/2013 19:59

That's brilliant news, though, aries! Well done arse-kicking FC man! Hurrah for iui! Sounds like you haven't been delayed by too much after all.

Northey · 08/02/2013 20:01

moll, just :(

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 08/02/2013 20:17

Woo, the end of the wait is nigh rie. Cluster diff is coming...I feel it in my waters or is that the baybee?

moll that would mess with any head. I recall having DNephew overnight and sobbing whilst feeding him in the night because I wanted it to be us so badly....it's ok to feel like crap when faced with that kind of situation.

EuroShagmore · 08/02/2013 20:24

That is good news Rie. Hurrah for the sensible allergy man! And 6 minutes when most people were travelling home/prepping dinner means not many people will have seen it (and even fewer will have understood it by the sound of it!).

Oh moll. Have a stroke of the cod of comfort.

faif I'd love to see you try that scissor kick in your current condition!

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/02/2013 20:37

I'm not getting my hopes up about the IUI at all. The chances of success of very low. I'm looking at it as a practice for IVF. I'm entitled to up to four rounds but I may not do all four. Time is ticking by, after all...

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 08/02/2013 20:44

What are the stats for success rates of IUI? (Out of curiosity)

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/02/2013 20:50

Rubbish!

About 10%, though some clinics say with their drucks method, 20%.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 08/02/2013 20:53

Hmm, not the best, but better than 0%....

JethroTull · 08/02/2013 21:43

National average for IVF is only just over 20%

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 08/02/2013 22:03

This is my ckonic, they say they have a 60% success rate for IVF in the under 35s. The national average for the same age group is 40%.

I completely forgot to share these with you:

IVF/IUI stats worry me, in a resigned sort of way. Every couple bar one I know who have had AC since I started TTC have succeeded in it working. The more successes there are, the more likely I am to fail, or the statistics lie. Especially given my age.

Sorry, but that's how I see it.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/02/2013 22:32

Oh the horsies!!!!11!

EuroShagmore · 08/02/2013 22:44

Love the mini frankel!

Rie I know what you mean. Both of my closest friends have had IVF successes. I can't help feeling that I am going to be the unlucky one. But I think we know by now that I am a pessimist.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 08/02/2013 22:47

How many were first time lucky though? Are the stats per attempt rather than per couple? That would make a difference to your perspective..

maamalady · 08/02/2013 22:48

I am also dubious about figures. Also last time we were in Addenbrooke's we could hardly move for CambridgeIVF adverts, which was rather like being kicked while we were down. They are so new their stats are pretty meaningless too, as they've just not had the same numbers of patients as other clinics. Not that I'm trying to rain on the parade, Frank, but that's likely going to end up being our clinic too so I've spent a good deal of time noseying at their website.

Gorgeous foaly :)

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/02/2013 22:50

They were all first attempts apart from BarbiesBeaver (second). And I don't know anyone who has been able to pay for IVF apart from my SIL and BIL (twinz on first attempt), and the NHS only pays for one anyway. The BESH have all had wins.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/02/2013 22:51

And apart from Jeffers who was private.

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 08/02/2013 22:51

If you do end up with them evil I can tell you which nurses to look out for. To be fair, they've all been lovely, but two have been extremely good to me.

OP posts:
Northey · 09/02/2013 07:10

I also fear the statistics are going to go against me.

JethroTull · 09/02/2013 07:38

The stats are per client per year. Which means that a client could be represented once or multiple times. The consultant I saw said that most couples would be successful within 3 attempts. I started the whole AC process hoping it would work whilst understanding that it probably wouldn't first time. I also think SSG & I are generally 'lucky' though. And I can be irritatingly positive so I will shut up now.

Northey · 09/02/2013 09:01

I am mentally preparing for three cycles, pollyannatull. Then if this one works it is just a nice bonus. And if it doesn't I am buying that nice horse of frankel's
