SweetieTime · 27/01/2013 09:23

Not started a new Fred before but hope it is successful for us as we are going to get our BFPs, either by traditional rat smacking activities or using the power of medical science.

Ladies I do declare WE WILL GET THERE - FACT !!!

OP posts:
EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 13/03/2013 10:32

They are talking of inducing at 38 weeks, but starting with stretch and sweeps at 37 which will either get it going or at least prepare my cervix for the induction. Booby is currently measuring just above the 95th centile on the growth charts (they only go up to the 95th), so I almost certainly won't be allowed to go to 40 weeks, and definitely not above, unless by some miracle it has settled its growth [doubtful]

Come on emby, stick you little bugger!!!! Stick I say!! This is boo, brooking no argument! Grin

keepitgoing · 13/03/2013 10:43

Grin thanks boo. What a big 'un, how exciting to meet him/her sooner though.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 13/03/2013 10:50

Keep that's fantastic news, come on blasty! how did you find ET? Was it done under sedation?

Boo hope the injections aren't too bad. Not long till Booby gets here!

Beedle I would have been freaking out about that smear GrinBlushShock how is it I'm still scared of having a smear after everything I've had to do?! Brooking your appointment turns up without you having to chase it.

Scarlett good luck with your appointment, ill be thinking of you.

Thinking of you too Cartoon

Geek 3dpo eh?! Sounds like you got in some well timed swi. Brooking for a post lap ironic BFP Smile

Well AF hasn't turned up yet Blush im on day 31. My cycle has been longer than that in the past but in the last 7 months its been 28-29 days long. So I decided to use one of my special CBD's (which have been waiting so long for use that they expired in dec 2012 Shock) It had the nerve to tell me "not pregnant". Come on AF I've been having cramps & pink tinged cm for 5 days now Angry
Its been 18 days since swi so I think we missed ovulation this month tbh.

keepitgoing · 13/03/2013 11:10

Ooh cup, you could always be one of those whose tests take ages... Anyway, you have an appt next week! Have you had any contact with your mum or sister? Hope you're doing better.

ET was uncomfortable due to the very full bladder, which they needed as the ultrasound was there to guide the catheter. But was also amazing, and I had a little tear... I think the worst bit was after, I had to lie down for an hour. After 20 mins I begged to go to the loo, and they brought... a bed pan. I said to dh that was the worst part of ivf ;) though he thought I was crazy, there'd just been about ten people and a bright light up my chuff, but I was more embarrassed doing a wee with them out of the room. It's hard to wee lying down BTW. Sometimes I have dreams that I've gone to the loo but still feel I need a wee, and that feeling will be there forever. It was like that. The proper wee when I was allowed to get up was amazing!

keepitgoing · 13/03/2013 11:15

No sedation, cup, they just stick a catheter in the right place and then inject the embryo.

BTW don't be put off. I've found the physical side of ivf surprisingly ok. And breaking it into steps has worked well too. Trouble is the next step is nine days... Dh doesn't want us to test before the blood test in case of a false negative. I can't stand the thought of waiting in the clinic for an hour and having someone tell us. We'll see who wins the argument ;)

NoMaybeAboutIt · 13/03/2013 11:23

Morning everyone.

Keep that's fantastic news. Am brooking so hard for you.

Cups how dare the stick tell you that?

Boo not too muh longer till booby is here. Hope te insulin isn't too bad.

Thinking of you Scarlett

I too would have freaked Beedle!

Any news Solars?

Today's appointment didn't go well. As son as we walked in she started talking about sperm donation. Bearing in mind last week the urologist said there was 'more than enough for at least one cycle' we were a little shocked. Apparently the embryologist had recommended to this consultant it would be advisable to have a back up donor. MrM is not ok with that so we will be goin ahead regardless. I have also been out at hight risk of OHSS. According to her I need to almost see it a a good thing as I'm 'incredibly fertile' which was just another kick in the goolies. We are seeing the nurse next week about everything and in assuming to be taught how to use the drugs. I have a feeling we won't be starting this month which means we ant start till the end of June as my bro is getting married in Italy in may which has messed thing up. It was just a horrible day and mrM is on nights so he has to go to work so we couldn't talk about it. I just feel at the moment we aren't going to get a baby.

Right, I must pull myself together. No point me dwelling on things we have no control over. Normal brooking service shall resume shortly.

BeedlesPineNeedles · 13/03/2013 11:27

cup sorry you got a "not pregnant", though I'm also hoping that you've just got a slightly lazy bean that hasn't produced the required amount of hsg yet :o
I also have a CBD that expired in Dec 2012 that was bought when I still actually expected to get pregnant Hmm

boo you know someone has to be at the top of the centile charts and since you and was it olives are having/have had whopper babies, the rest of us brookers will be able to have nice 7lb babies with small heads :o

keep :o at your post transfer wee embarrassment

I've realised that having a smear at 7dpo wasn't so clever, how am I supposed to know if the teeny cramps and slightly brown-tinged CM is from that or if its a sign of my imminent uppdiffedness Hmm

NoMaybeAboutIt · 13/03/2013 11:27

Keep that's horrible. I'm totally with you on the bed pan thing. Luckily our clinic lets you get up straight away. Apparently they have seen no difference in pregnancy rates in women awake to rest for half an hour compared to those who went about their business straight away. Amazing how much things vary.

Also Sweetie have you checked out the eeva website? I think that may be the thingymagigy you were asking about

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 13/03/2013 11:33

Grin glad to be of service Beedle

BeedlesPineNeedles · 13/03/2013 11:35

maybe sorry they weren't more positive. And sorry you might have to wait until June. I'm not sure I understand why they think that you're at risk of OHSS, surely if they think you'll respond well they just put you on a lower dose of drugs?

We're here to do extra brooking for you whilst you feel wobbly. Hope MrM is OK too.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 13/03/2013 11:37

The full bladder would be the worst part for me. I always joke that I have a weak bladder, If I need the toilet I have to go. When I had my pelvic ultrasound I nearly had an accident as I was so desperate Blush. Do you think DH would let you do a test before you go to have the blood test?

Maybe what a horrid appointment. Is it just a back up plan then? Are they still going to try to use your DH's sperm? No wonder you are both upset, especially after what he has just been through to get it. Are they going to start you on a low dose due to the risk of OHSS? I hope you & DH get some time to talk soon. That's what I used to hate the most about working nights, I felt like I never saw DH.

keepitgoing · 13/03/2013 11:41

maybe I'm sorry it was tough. I was worried about ohss as young, but have been fine. Hope they'll put you on a low dose. Why can't they just get another vial from him? Also, esp if you're doing icsi why do they need so many sperm? Stand your ground, it sounds like they are trying to make you take an easy route, but its not the one you want, and you two get to choose. You will get your baby. And soon. You have sperm, and you're fertile. I feel for pour mrMaybe, and horrid he has to work.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 13/03/2013 11:45

I've just realised I've got some good news that I haven't told you lot yet. I've got a new job. I had an interview not long after my grandad passed away. It's basically a community job which is split between a children's A & E and home visits. I've not handed my notice in yet for my current job (I have to give 4 weeks notice) as I'm still waiting for my crb & occupational health clearance. I'm a bit worried that starting this job will coincide with starting IVF/or an ironic BFP. I've not been able to find out how long I need to be working there to be entitled to mat pay.

ControlGeek · 13/03/2013 11:54

Just a quickie before I pop out for lunch

boo sorry for making you spit tea, I seem to recall I muttered 'FFS' to myself at the time Blush Really sorry to hear about your insulin. Have you got those preloaded pens that you just twizzle the end? What dose have they put you on?

maybe you poor thing, and MrM too. What a horrible appointment. If you are doing ICSI surely it really doesn't matter because you only need one good one per egg. If it's any help, I have been warned I am in the high risk category for OHSS too. All they have said is they will put me on the lowest dose, and that I will be well monitored. I also have to be conscious of the warning signs and contact the clinic as soon as I feel anything on the list. My consultant said there was nothing that could be done for OHSS if it did develop, just bedrest, so I am planning on doing a lot of WFB ('working from bed') in the two weeks leading up to EC.

I can't remember who mentioned that you stab yourself and generally follow your normal cycle pattern - does this mean I could potentially have to stab myself for up to 40+ days????

Heh not so quick after all - time for lunch now :)

NoMaybeAboutIt · 13/03/2013 12:01

Cups that's amazing news!! Well done you! Hello ironic BFP!!

Thank you for all your amazing brooking. I'm not sure hey they can't get more. The urologist said when we need more he will bring MrM in and don't under a general so they can get as much as possible. So that will be our plan for the next round.

We have refused donor for this cycle. And yes, we are having ICSI so not as many sperm will be needed.

As for the OHSS it's a mix of my age and good AMH levels. They are starting me on the lowest dose and seeing how I go. It doesn't feel as bad today as it did last night!

keepitgoing · 13/03/2013 12:14

cups well done on the job!! Don't worry about mat leave, as changing NHS employers doesn't matter. It's continuous service with the nhs, and must be 12 months at St like 11th week before edd.

I am the same with wee. I felt like I needed the loo and she said my bladder was nowhere near full enough and made me drink more!

maybe it's not bad, sweetheart. Focus on the fact you're starting a cycle soon. Even if you do get severe ohss, v unlikely, it normally happens post EC so the make embryos and freeze all till the next cycle and do FET. Annoying, but not the end of the world.

geek it all depends on your follies. Mine grew faster than they would naturally. Yours might be kick started and start growing earlier, I think it's hard to predict, but I wouldn't think a 40 day cycle. One of the girls on the egg buddies thread has pcos and they stimmed her longer and slower, poss three weeks of stimms. But average is 9-11 days of stimms. I think they only say it follows your natural cycle as you start in AF, and most people it'll be around the same cycle length.

SweetieTime · 13/03/2013 12:24

Keep amazing result for you. With your embie on board and some to freeze. I was so desperate for a wee when had et that I was convinced an accident would happen. They let me use loo straight afterwards I was worried I would pee it out but they assured me that wouldn't happen. I will check that link when I get home.

Maybe Sad for you guys that the appointment didn't go better. be tough and don't let them force you down the easy route for them. I know awoman who had her 2 dd from only 11 swimmers retrieved from her dh who had had a vasectomy.

Cup well done on the new job.

will post property later when I get home & on laptop

The trust I'm moving to is a foundation trust Keep and as I've discovered from a crazy amount of googling they can make their own terms on mat pay, they don't have to follow agenda for change guidelines. None of their policies are available publicly, the only way to find out would be to call hr & ask. I'm slightly concerned as they have a 9 month probationary period and I'm irrationally worrying I won't get my contract renewed (despite being a model employee in my 6 years of work in the nhs!). God why do I have to be such a stress head?! My life would be so easy if I didn't worry about stuff that might never happen.

keepitgoing · 13/03/2013 13:01

Ah. They don't have to, cup but I think almost all of them follow Agenda for Change T&Cs at the moment. Instead of asking for the mat leave policy, just ask them for their staff policy handbook and it'd be in there. Of course you'll pass probation, that's just there to cover them. CRBs can take ages ridiculous things Every August as doctors start none of them have CRBs, as they only find out their locations so soon in advance. It's ridiculous. BTW I have no job so will hopefully not qualify for ML payments, I'm trying to invoke the Law of Sod, and trying not to panic geek would have a fit if she were me. We neither have jobs from August, and don't even know what part of the country we will be in DH is applying for jobs this week, find out in May.

Solars · 13/03/2013 13:01

I know how you feel when you come away from a not so good appointment Maybe donor sperm crossed our mind too if DH's bloods aren't good and DH wasn't happy about that at all. I'm so sorry you got that news but I think it will all be ok so stick to your guns and perhaps they're just being overly cautious. By the way DH's bloods came back today, positive yay! So we are good to go with starting our monitoring cycle, AF has started today too but we're contemplating starting the monitoring next cycle as we are away a weekish mid cycle when I'll need a scan. We'll decide tonight what to do as my flights aren't booked although DHs are (hes on a course and i was going to join him after it) and I want to call the clinic and ask when exactly I'll need the scan so see if we can work around it.

Amazing news Keep Stick, embie stick!!

Cups fantastic news on the job and when are you testing again??

Sorry to hear you're on insulin Boo brooking you're both doing ok.

I too would have freaked Beedle

Solars · 13/03/2013 13:03

I meant DH's bloods were negative, Doh!!

keepitgoing · 13/03/2013 13:03

I meant hopefully I won't qualify as I'll be knocked up before going home. If I'm not, I'll find a job, and would then qualify soon enough I guess. Here's hoping I'm job hunting at 5 months preggers Hmm :)

keepitgoing · 13/03/2013 13:05

Yay solars!!! So pleased!!! Hope you can sort the flights, I guess you could go the weekend before his course instead?

:)

NoMaybeAboutIt · 13/03/2013 13:10

Solars that's bloody brilliant news! Hurrah!

Cup you will pass probation and you will get that BFP. Fact.

Thanks Keep you're right. I shall worry about ohss if/when it happens.

Sweetie what an amazingly encouraging story. Hope you're doing ok

Solars · 13/03/2013 13:13

So what have you got planned to entertain yourself until next Friday Keep? So excited for you!! Smile

DH doesn't have the time off the week before, I think we've decided we'd rather do the holiday for our own sanity as we've been putting stuff off and I guess another month can't hurt and I can still get all my immunes checked etc this month and get the ball rolling on that if there's an issue?
