Over here, sausage-wangers!

Thundercatsarego · 12/02/2013 22:27

I think so bunny, because it is 40 weeks from your lmp date (so you're already 4 weeks along when you get your bfp)....

Bunnygirlie · 13/02/2013 08:33

Ah of course, I always think 9 months but it's not is it!

2cats222 · 13/02/2013 10:54

Positive news from me... My temp has gone back up this morn

2cats222 · 13/02/2013 11:43

Navi i may have missed it but any news from you?

Captain STILL no results? Grrrr on your behalf

twinklestar2 · 13/02/2013 11:48

Good luck 2cats!

SidneyBristow · 13/02/2013 11:52

Fx 2cats!

happylass · 13/02/2013 12:11

Sounds promising 2cats. When are you POAS?

Pipbin · 13/02/2013 13:05

Well the consultant said that one tube is completely blocked but the other is pretty much blocked. Therefore it's best to go straight to IVF. He seemed to think that the waiting list is about 3 months.

captainmoll · 13/02/2013 13:12

Pip sorry to hear that, but at the same time, I hope it's in part a relief to feel that there is some proper action to be taken now and FX good chances of success. I know we'd all love to conceive naturally, but thank goodness for the brilliant humans who've worked out how fix us when we can't.
Thanks
Good luck, I hope the waiting time flies by and you get lucky on the first round! Do you know how many goes you get?

2cats222 · 13/02/2013 13:43

Pip as captain said, sorry for the news but at least you have a reason for not getting your BFP, and plan to move forwards and hopefully get one very soon. Are you on the waiting list now then? Sorry,I don't know anything about IVF or how it works on the NHS at all.

I have already POAS ! You know that I find it fun. Anyway BFN (as expected). FF was saying I was 7DPO, however I have discarded the stupidly low temp i think was throwing it out so it now has me at 9DPO (as I thought), with a nice possible implantation dip pattern at 8DPO. Will continue POAS from tomorrow until AF comes. Have been reading about the implantation dip today, and it seems the temp dip comes post implantation starting, so assuming it was an implantation dip then I should be able to get a potential BFP from tomorrow (which would be 3 days post implantation starting if that's what it was). Yes I am a loon. Got to pass the time somehow!!

Can anyone help me with the stats line on the chart? It seems to be saying that AF is due 21st (which would give me a LP of 16??!) and i think it should be due the 19th (with a LP of 14). The stats line has a number 5 on the 18th, a 4 on the 19th, a 3 on the 20th and a 2 (coloured pink) on the 21st. Assume this is to do with my LP etc but not clear exactly what it is telling me.

2cats222 · 13/02/2013 13:46

Ah i take it all back. FF is saying AF is due 19th, the stats line is counting down to it being 'safe to test' on the 21st. Hahahahaha sorry FF I will be happily ignoring you!

SidneyBristow · 13/02/2013 16:36

ahh Pip Thanks that explains it all then doesn't it! At least you know exactly what the problem was, and exactly how to get around it - just think in 3 mos you will be on the road to making a baby; how exciting Smile Didn't you say the IVF success rate for people with this problem is extremely high? So you're looking at a possible March-April baby, maybe? Must admit the calculation of due dates still stumps me!

My infertility consult is Fri. Can anyone let me know what to expect? Is it just a blood draw, or am I going to show up and be handed a piece of paper telling me to go to xyz hospital for super secret testing several weeks from now?

2cats I don't understand any of the temping stuff at all; maybe you could recommend a Temping for Dummies website; I might try it this cycle. I am getting v frustrated with the whole thing, sick of DH saying "don't worry, it'll happen" when he has 2 healthy children already so can't possibly feel this as deeply as I do, and has the luxury of being able to not think about any of this, if he chooses to. Meanwhile I have the cramps from hell.

Are you going to POAS tomorrow? c'mon BFP!

navis176 · 13/02/2013 17:54

Pip - sorry to hear your news but at least the waiting list isn't too long

2cats - all sounding promising....

af got me today Sad here goes another 30 days of stress...

2cats222 · 13/02/2013 19:11

navi sorry hon, life's shit at times. Ah well, i'll raise a glass to your shiny new cycle, full of possibilities!

Sidney - my doc recommended temping for 2 reasons - because its the only way (except for blood tests) you can confirm ovulation for certain (OPK's won't do this) and so that you can prove you are ovulating prior to seeing a doc with potential TTC issues.

Here's what i've learnt in a nutshell. Sign up for fertility friend, you can put your temps in each day and it will build your chart. Buy a basal thermometer (they're more accurate than a normal thermometer). Set your alarm each morning for a time before the earliest you ever wake up/get up (Eg if you get up normally at 6am set it for 5.30am). When the alarm goes off, take your temp (do NOTHING before this, eg. don't get up, don't go to the loo, don't wriggle around). Record your temp in fertility friend. Simples.

Fertility friend will do the rest (and there's plenty of stuff to read on there for more info). But essentially you stick your temps, all other symptoms (including CM/OPKs etc) in there and it will predict your ovulation date. A temp drop and then rise confirms ovulation (whereas a positive OPK can potentially indicate a surge but not ovulation). Temps post O that stay high are a good indicator of pregnancy.

With a cycle where you have taken temps you can confirm you have O'd, when you O'd (again OPK's won't always help with this) and whether you therefore DTD at the right time. With a few cycles like that (and no BFP) you have some ammunition to say to the doc, I am O-ing, I am DTD at the right time and still nada. Which is what me and OH are trying to do (if we don't get pregnant before then that it) however I keep managing dodgy temps and not enough DTD lately

Soph80 · 13/02/2013 20:00

Hi girlies!!! How you all doing!

Had my consultant appt yesterday and shes put me on the IUI waiting list (should be about 4 months). I also still have 4 months of clomid left although got to pretend i'm not taking it as shes not allowed to suggest IUI until we've given clomid more of a chance!

Apparently progesterone was sky high last month so shes cut my dosage to 50mg. Shes almost certain I'd have produced more than one egg not that any were fertilised so really hoping thats the case for this cycle as have had the full 100mg this time!

2cats222 · 13/02/2013 20:07

Hi Soph... good news on the IUI waiting list. Do they tell you the success stats? Might not be long til you're a grad FX

SidneyBristow · 13/02/2013 20:41

Oh navis it's crap isn't it. Reason #102 of why I'll jump for joy when I get a BFP: NO MORE TTC STRESS. Wait make that Reason #2 or 3. Sorry she got you Thanks

Thanks for the rundown 2cats. I think I've avoided temping bc I was afraid it would stress me out, but in reality would probably be the opposite. How many months have you been doing it?

SidneyBristow · 13/02/2013 20:42

and Soph congrats on the appt! It sounds like you & Pip might be making babies around the same time, so exciting!

2cats222 · 13/02/2013 20:47

Sidney this is my 4th cycle temping. It took me a while to get in the groove. Think the best advice I had was on here - do it orally and literally shove the thermometer in your mouth when your alarm goes - after a while you just do it half asleep and barely remember waking up to do it. Most of the thermometers have a memory function so you dont even have to write down the temp... it beeps to let you know its finished and you just drop it on the floor and use the memory function later in the day to record the temperature on FF. To be honest it's the least stress inducing thing i've done... helps me feel like I know what is going on with my cycle and FF is a great place for recording all things that happen during your cycle too.

Bunnygirlie · 13/02/2013 20:48

Hey ladies!

Sorry to hear your news pip Hope you get your appointment ASAP!

Hubby went to see docs this morn, no little blue pills unfortunately but she is going to start the basic tests and I think I will also go to my docs to start tests too.

Can you lovely ladies advise what tests they start with pretty please?

Boodle9 · 13/02/2013 21:19

Evening ladies!

Bunny, when I first went to my doctor about TTC problems (Sep 2012), he didn't say a lot really. Asked me how long I'd been TTC, did I have regular periods, etc. He then just ordered day 21 tests. I know thyroid and progesterone checks were definitely done in there but on the screen he was ticking loads of boxes! Don't know what they all were and probably never will as it was only my thyroid that came back problematic (though not high enough for treatment...that's a whole other story). It was very much a 'done in 3 minutes' appointment!

After that, I suppose my journey has been specific to me, but I will gladly share! I was told to go back in 3 months (Dec 2012) for repeat bloods to check thyroid. I moved house in that time so these tests were done with a new doctors. I went to see her to get the tests ordered and she decided that she would also get my day 3 tests done (to check FSH levels). I think some docs are sharp enough to get these ordered straight away, so maybe you'll be booked in for these too! I had these done and thyroid was still high but not high enough to get told anything other than 'we'll check it again in 6 months'. Nothing else came back as a problem, though she said my progesterone was 29.4 and they want to see 30 to absolutely confirm ovulation. This bothered me as whilst I'm sure I ovulate (due to temping - more of that shortly) I have short LP and wondered if this could be progesterone linked. Anyway, she wasn't done with me. She had me in for swabs a week later to check for infections (all clear) and she then referred me to hospital for ultrasound (abdominal and vaginal). My appointment was mid- January. I then returned to doc, got the all-clear and am now waiting for referral.

I appreciate it's probably only the first paragraph that interests you, but once I'm on a roll, I don't shut up easily. Smile It's been pretty quick in the grand scheme of things, but this is where I think things will now grind to a halt.

Sidney, I'm a long-term "temper" and I don't find it stressful at all. I've said this on here before, but if you just set your alarm 30-45 mins early, shove it under your tongue immediately and, as 2cats said, you can doze back off once you've heard the beeps! The 'Babymad' thermometer on Amazon allows you to see the last temperature taken when you press and hold the 'on' button, so you can just look and record your temperature when you actually get up. I'm really glad I've been temping. My doc practically laughed me out of her office with them bitch but I'm hoping they'll be of interest to the consultant. They definitely show clear Ov and luteal phase patterns. Hopefully you'll get pregnant before you need them, but if things don't go as smoothly as you want, you've got those for reference.

Boodle over and out!

Pipbin · 13/02/2013 21:54

Thanks for your thoughts guys.
I did know the results kind of before today as the consultant told me after the op.
3 months is good as it'll give us a chance to get into the new house, assuming it all goes to plan, before we get started on that.

I asked what had caused it, and he said that it was an infection at some point. Now I know I tested clear for every STD a while ago so I think it was caused by a bad case of cystitis that I had about 5 years ago. Anyway, it doesn't really matter what caused it. The fact is it happened.

To be quite honest I'll be OK if it never happens. I really will. There was a time I thought I would die if I didn't have children but I know that I could deal with it now.

Bunnygirlie · 13/02/2013 22:34

Thanks boodle it's good to know what to expect Smile

Any POAS action coming up?!?

Boodle9 · 13/02/2013 22:56

Well, I'm a whopping 6DPO and am already getting the faintest hint of spotting. Don't anyone get excited that it's an implantation bleed. It's not. I always start spotting 6 - 8 DPO, with AF following right behind.

Never had POAS action, despite TTC for 18 cycles. It's the most depressing card I have to play in the 'I have never...' drinking game!

2cats222 · 13/02/2013 23:08

bunny I am POAS daily... Only because AF is not due for 6 days!

boodle I love I have never! I once had a friend (a bridesmaid at my wedding 5 weeks ago) who is the most pure girl you ever meet admit to bum sex. I literally couldn't shut my mouth for a week, shock (the combination of her and bum sex with no indication whatsoever)!!!
