Doff your top hats, lean on your canes, 'tis a Victorian Christmas for the BESH. Baste those turkeys in Victoria & Albert style, and maintain a stiff upper lip when you fill in the BESHtionnaire to see if you are cynical stoic enough to win a Baybee.

I have just been to the absolute pit of lowness. I have just pissed in my own eye in the Newport MacDonalds. Please all defriend me now. I am absolutely beyond the pale.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 11/01/2013 17:47

How the hell did you manage that?!

maamalady · 11/01/2013 17:52

Why on earth would you be doing handstands with no knickers on in the loo of a McDonalds?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 11/01/2013 17:54

Now then Norf, you know you need to give us more than that. Did it sting?

Bugger about job Bugs. How do you feel about other job?

Norf what on earth were you doing??

EuroShagmore · 11/01/2013 20:13

Sorry to hear about job news and Droid, Bugs.

Norf how the actual fuck did you manage that? Do they have an anti-gravity area in the bogs or something?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 11/01/2013 20:25

Is Faif there? does anyone know what causes fits in the elderly. My dad has been taken to hospital after some kind of seizure. Given his recent problems obviously am now thinking of cheerful things like brain tumours. Am terrified. Hold my hand BESHes.

Northey · 11/01/2013 20:27

bugs, that is utterly shit, especially when you had prepped so hard and were obviously the best candidate but it sounds like they still really want to keep hold of you, even if it couldn't be in that job, which is sort of consoling, mixed in with the upsetness.

Now. The piss. I was utterly utterly desperate for a wee (the sort of situation where you start wondering if it would really matter if you just did it in your trousers right there in the street), so, as MacDonalds was literally the only place open that might have a loo, I bit the bullet, went in, bought a coffee and then went into the loo. It was filthy. It reeked, and the loo seat was decorated with sticky yellow splashes and several pubes. The situation was desperate though, so I held my breath and sort of squatted over the seat without touching it. So forceful was my wee, however, that it ricocheted off the surface of the bowl and back into my own face. It was unspeakably grim, and made all the worse for te fact that it was happening in MacDonalds. In Newport. On a Friday night. Now let us never speak of it again.

JethroTull · 11/01/2013 20:28

We are here luffly Rie. With all the fish you need.

Northey · 11/01/2013 20:30

aries, I bet faithy will be along soon, but in the meantime there is huge love and support for you. Is your father conscious?

Also, I am sorry that the first post after yours is a stupid story about wee :(

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 11/01/2013 20:32

I wanted to know about the piss anyway. Yes, that sounds like Newport I'm afraid.

Don't know about the consciousness. I don't know anything.

Northey · 11/01/2013 20:36

Did your mother phone you? What do you know so far, lovely?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 11/01/2013 20:37

She just said she was about to follow the ambulance and she would call me. Then had to run.

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 11/01/2013 21:00

I'm here holding your hand Rie

TWinklyLittleStar · 11/01/2013 21:12

Another hand to hold here.

Northey · 11/01/2013 22:07

Any news, rie?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 11/01/2013 22:10

None yet.

SinkyMalinks · 11/01/2013 23:05

Rie, I'm not faife, but I can do a bit of chatter if you like.

Fits happen for lots of reasons. They happen more often in older people than younger. It can be scary things like brain tumours, but, and much more commonly, it's due to other things. Infections can do it (even a uti- they can be total buggers for it). Mini strokes can do it. Blood sodium being off and kidney not working quite as well as they should can.

There are loads of things that can cause fits. And having had one doesn't mean you'll go on to have more (although it can be more likely, I which case we can do something about that)

Any news? Hopefully he'll be a bit more awake now (but he may well be drowsy and "off" overnight and even into tomorrow.

Try not to panic

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 11/01/2013 23:18

Thank you Sinky. They thought he had a mini stroke this week. They will be connected I expect. Do you? And he has also had very strong meds for depressionin the last months. And anti psychotics and blood pressure stuff. This is what has been going on.

blonderthanred · 11/01/2013 23:23

Sending love Rie.

SinkyMalinks · 11/01/2013 23:23

Meds can cause blood biochemistry to get a bit skewhif, which can make your seizure threshold lower - he'll have had the bloods needed taken when he was admitted -it doesn't need any fancy tests.

Vascular disease - strokes, mini-strokes and even just risk factors like high blood pressure or diabetes can all definitely make you more likely to have fits. A bit of brain wear and tear I suppose.
