Doff your top hats, lean on your canes, 'tis a Victorian Christmas for the BESH. Baste those turkeys in Victoria & Albert style, and maintain a stiff upper lip when you fill in the BESHtionnaire to see if you are cynical stoic enough to win a Baybee.

I love the way adult cats are so mean to pups! Did you ever see that video on YouTube of the cat seeing off an alligator? The alligator actually backs down and retreats!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 08/01/2013 14:17

Can't do it purely about pets! I only have the geriatric, possibly epileptic Hmm hamster. Rubbish baybee replacement that doesn't do much!

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 08/01/2013 15:24

There's a video out in the ether of a cat and a dolphin. They seem equally intrigued with each other Grin

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 08/01/2013 15:27
Grin

I suspect the cat was thinking "Hmm, this smells of fish!" Grin

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/01/2013 15:30

That's a captive dolphin

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 08/01/2013 15:45

Oh heck, sorry Rie, I didn't think.

maamalady · 08/01/2013 15:51

The fascination from both cat and dolphin is interesting all the same, though I agree with rie's point.

This time last year I was in Florida, and we hired a boat one day. There were several wild dolphins in the waters where we were, and my marine biologist friend thought we might be able to pick some up. So, we zoomed by (not close at all, don't panic) and the dolphins clearly thought we looked like fun - they chased us and swam at high speed in our wake for quite a long way. It was the most amazing thing - HOTB struggled to take pictures as they were too close for the long lens he had on the camera! Proof you can have astonishing experiences with dolphins without having to keep them captive :)

EuroShagmore · 08/01/2013 15:53

Rie the caption says they are out at sea. Not sure whether that is true or not of course.

I'm with you on captive dolphins. When I was visiting some of KFZK's friends out in the Bahamas a few years back we had planned to do a dolphin dive out in the sea. However, I got a stinking cold so scuba was out. The people we were with arranged for us to with swim with dolphins in a lagoon instead (friends of thiers owned the place -everyone on the island knows one another, it is one of those places, so I didn't feel I could say no). I have to say, they seemed healthy and well-cared for, but I was a bit sad that they couldn't go an play with their friends at sea. :( Swimming with them was amazing (they are so fast and powerful), but the people running the place concentrated on getting them to do photo opportunities so they could sell the pics afterwards, which I found rather sad.

EuroShagmore · 08/01/2013 15:55

Draf we had a similar experience in the Maldives last month. We were out hunting for the whaleshark - didn't find that but did have a large pod of dolphins come to play instead.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/01/2013 16:16

Reeeeally? Out at sea? God I'm such a tiresome nob sometimes - I didn't even check by watching the link. I just assumed it was the same one as I'd seen a few months ago.

Sorry, frank.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/01/2013 16:19

Oh that clip is adorable isn't it? My cat would swipe that poor dolphin on the nose. that alligator clip. Brave little puss.

Northey · 08/01/2013 18:40

We got rescue cats but then ruined it all by letting one have kittens, thereby saving two unwanted cats but creating four more. Though we did find loving homes for them all. And there are cute kitten videos on my Facebook.

Five Have Fun With Fur Baybees.

bugs, I iz in that city near you on 22nd...

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/01/2013 21:47

The Mystery of the Disappearing Pant Snot has been solved. I am strangely awash with the stuff. On day 16

Do we have to do it again?

Northey · 08/01/2013 21:51

Dunno, rie. Are you sure it isn't just the ooze of a particularly impressive recent spoff by mrA? and

JethroTull · 08/01/2013 21:57

Do it Rie. Right now.

Faif glad you are ok & home. Hope you are being looked after.

I could talk about JethroDog all day.....

I am slightly calmer today. SSG made me porridge this morning before work & put it in a flask for me to have at my desk. Made me cry. Scanning for follicles at 8am tomorrow. Pliz to send ripening thoughts my way.

JethroTull · 08/01/2013 21:59

nice thought Norf Wink. Well done for telling your mum btw. Is she being very stiff upper lip about it like mine?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/01/2013 22:01

No. It's stretchy. Like in Zita illustrations.

Bless SSG and his porridge making. GOOD LUCK WITH THE RIPENING! xxxxx Will be thinking of you.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 08/01/2013 22:03

Fanks Jeffers. Yes I'm ok. Quiet night in front of the darts for myself and MSB. Sending growy follicles thoughts your way!

rie you should probably do the sechs if you can be arsed

Northey · 08/01/2013 22:04

Tape a black banana to your pelvis, jethro. You know, like for ripening stuff in the fruit bowl. That works with ovaries too.

Mum was restrained and practical and straightforward about it and didn't ask me any questions about my feeeeeeelings, thank God.

Northey · 08/01/2013 22:04

rie, do the jam jar and syringe! You know you want to.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/01/2013 22:04

Your mum sounds like she was a brick.

Northey · 08/01/2013 22:08

She was. Though she also said "is it hereditary, as your sister is having trouble." My sister only stopped taking the pill a year ago, so this enrages me greatly.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 08/01/2013 22:15

Did you say that? You should do.

maamalady · 08/01/2013 22:45

Banana! Brilliant! Actual LOL Grin

Does your mum know your TTC timescale, Norf? It's a more understandable comment if not - and either way she's probably just trying to make you feel less alone?

Rie, day sixteen is surely ovulation prime time anyway? Get thee back on the shagwagon! (futility fiend reckons I usually ov on CD19 so I don't give much weight to the "average ovulation is CD14" saying)

HOTB and I watched the BBC4 programme tonight. All rather fascinating, if bleak. Though the average chance of a baybee from IVF at our local clinic is 40% for our age group, so HOTB says you're not allowed to feel cheated until you've had a BFN on the third cycle. This stoic outlook will hopefully serve us well. It was painful watching those couples' hearts breaking though :( And although the clinic doctor man seemed a bit of a knob, he did seem to understand the emotional rollercoaster, much better than the presenter guy did. I thought he asked several rather stupid/insensitive questions. Like when one woman was sobbing after a BFN, he said to her husband "you're quite good at comforting her aren't you" - HOTB's response would have been a withering look and a "no shit, Sherlock" so we were impressed with the husband's response...

Northey · 09/01/2013 06:50

Good luck with scan this morning, jeffersonairplane.
