Doff your top hats, lean on your canes, 'tis a Victorian Christmas for the BESH. Baste those turkeys in Victoria & Albert style, and maintain a stiff upper lip when you fill in the BESHtionnaire to see if you are cynical stoic enough to win a Baybee.

I don't know what I should do with my name

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 02/01/2013 20:19

How about FrankelGallagher?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 02/01/2013 20:23

My in laws are furiously arguing about the correct way to disassemble a Christmas tree. Can't believe I have been away since Christmas Eve! Home tomorrow........

How are things now, draf? Hopefully still on the neutral topics...

aries, what did you do for your Christmas in the end? Did you go everywhere with MrA, or did you manage a less traumatic version?

bugs, you prat :) I speak as someone who regularly POASes whilst still actually menstruating Blush

Northey · 02/01/2013 20:42

FrankelSinatra? FrankelZappa? FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn? Ooh, I like the last one - choose that.

Northey · 02/01/2013 20:43

Or Frankelstein!

maamalady · 02/01/2013 20:59

Things okay now, thanks, norf. They're just going now. Topics stayed mostly neutral most of the time, thankfully. Early convo nearly killed me, though, all about their gorgeous scans/monitoring/existence of foetus and then asking about all my scans and associated problems...

FrankelcenseAndMyhrr · 02/01/2013 20:59

I was Frankelstein for the Zombie fred.

Acksherly, I quite like your other suggestion

maamalady · 02/01/2013 21:12

Very nice, Frank

Northey · 02/01/2013 21:12

How very manly you are, frankelly.

They know you've had problems, yet still bleated on about their blasted gorgeous scans? Idiots.

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 02/01/2013 21:18

Well survived evil, next time put some extra chilli on their meals

I am braving OBEM on Channel 4. Some of the active birthing equipment looks fun - rope swing and chair!

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 02/01/2013 21:36

They sound like fuckers. They knew, and still went on about their shit.

I have been a few places but didn't go north to his pregnant sister's to stay in her small house with their extended family. So that's one less thing.

OComeAllYeFaithBaby · 02/01/2013 21:39

See I never watched OBEM - we'd been TTC already when the first one came out. Now I try to be brave and watch but frankly I'm a bit Shock to realise there's probably only one of two ways this kid is coming out now!

Nice name change Frank!

maamalady · 02/01/2013 21:47

Well, we have to be nice, especially as they're such old friends and she's had a pretty miserable pregnancy (birth is imminent and she's worried). Interestingly, the H seems much more clued in to how awful it is - or perhaps he's just a bit sick of his W's one-track conversation. Still, if/when she asks me to come visit her in hospital (she has already asked, but it's a bit hypothetical right now) I'm going to be strong and say no. The maternity and infertility bits of the local hospital are in the same place and I'm really not sure I can go into the baby-heavy bit.

HOTB and I were giggling earlier at my new ability to drink espresso. It's previously been a bit much, but we've decided I'm now bitter enough myself that the coffee is no hardship... Grin

I've never watched OBEM. What is the attraction, especially to the barren?

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 02/01/2013 22:02

I like OBEM because I had a bit of a phobia about childbirth so wanted to see what acksherly goes on. I quite enjoy it even though it sometimes makes me cry a bit Sad

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 03/01/2013 08:15

Good morrow my fellow BESH. I wish to inform you that the discomfort in my nether regions has eased: my humble thanks for all your kind advice. I did not purchase the soothing balm known as Canestan (£14 farking quid for a tube Shock) but instead opted for the much cheaper one that goes by the name of Vagisil (only £5).

Grin

I watched a bit of OBEM. I catch it occasionally, for the same reason as frank (great new name, btw).

I was quite amused by the hippie bloke. He had one job - hitting the buzzer to call the midwife when needed, during his wife's natual drug free hippie birth. He hit the light switch instead and then panicked when the midwife didn't appear.

I only ever get itchy nethers on the Pill - for me it is definitely another reaction to my hormones being messed with. My body really doesn't like that!

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 03/01/2013 10:09

I would add that you should never use anything scented on your fanjo and nothing at all really....um.... inside it, just water. Something like Simple soap. I've only had it once, but since then, having ditched the shower gel, nothing. I've been lucky in that department.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 03/01/2013 10:10

BTW, I'm with Bugsy, NGCECOWTP

Northey · 03/01/2013 11:27

Olive oil did a great job on clearing up my last bout (the one made worse by TRAGIC accidental use of Canesten athletes foot cream). Honestly, I was having fantasies of hacking out my vulva with a machete, and olive oil was like skinny dipping in a sea of heaven.

You had an alcohol-free Christmas, bugs? Shock

It's the old picking a scab thing Bugs. I went through a phase about a year ago of watching it obsessively. Last night I only caught it because I saw it mentioned on here.

I am quite fascinated by the birthing process though. I think I'd really enjoy it were it not for the jealousy I feel when I see the cute tiny babies emerge.
