New thread! Come on girls, lets all get pregnant!!

OP posts:
Thingymajigs · 19/11/2012 11:03

Hi, can I join you lot? This is the end of my fifth cycle trying for %233 (I have 12 yo and 9 yo boys) but the first for my boyfriend who is really excited. My period is due tomorrow and I've just Googled my symptom (excessive saliva) and it turns out I'm either pregnant or I have rabies which has turned this into quite a tense 2WW I think you'll agree. Grin
Hope I'm ok to just introduce myself and plonk myself down in this thread. I'll read back a bit to see if I can follow some of your stories. Smile

Thingymajigs · 19/11/2012 11:05

Oh, it changed number 3 to 233. I can assure you that I do not have 233 kids.

weechops · 19/11/2012 12:31

Sorry everyone who's having a shitty time of it at the moment. I'm trying to get my positive attitude back but it's bloomin hard. I'm hoping there will be a wee bit of christmas magic on our thread soon and we'll see some bfp's arriving.:)

Welcome thingymajigs These are a fab bunch of ladies full of good advice and support. Hope you get your bfp soon. (and not a rabies diagnosis :) )

winkle2 · 19/11/2012 12:35

Welcome thingy!

OP posts:
Thingymajigs · 19/11/2012 13:33

Thank you weechops Everyone seems very supportive. I hope you feel a bit better soon, it's so frustrating trying to time everything right and disheartening when you think you've missed a chance. It's easy to put too much pressure on yourself.
Thank you winkle. I was just reading about the SA results discussion. We had out results back last month and I found it scary how little his GP could interpret from the results. You'd think trained doctors would have to explain them, not overworked GP's. Ours were complicated as he had low motility but high count which meant that the results were considered to be ok/borderline. We are using Wellman conception vitamins too, I hope they work considering the price.

redstrawberry · 19/11/2012 14:03

hi thingy

Kittenkatzen · 19/11/2012 15:18

hi thingy - i very much hope you are upduffed and not rabid! :o

have you tried looking on amazon for the vits? they tend to be a fair bit cheaper on there than in the shops.

winkle2 · 19/11/2012 17:43

We're on the wellman too. I usually get the 3-4-2 deal from Tesco.

OP posts:
redstrawberry · 19/11/2012 19:15

DH started the Wellman ones too. I am nervous about the fertility clinic tomorrow. I just want them to give me some hope and tell me everything will be okay.

Whilst in the 2ww my boobs are very sore and tingling for the first time in 3 months. I feel teary that my boobs are sore as its finally one symptom after months of nothing. Not getting my hopes up but just feels good to feel something.

winkle2 · 19/11/2012 19:41

Red don't be nervous, try and see it as a step closer to what you want.

Yaay for tingly boobs!

OP posts:
redstrawberry · 19/11/2012 19:54

Thanks winkle

Thingymajigs · 19/11/2012 20:03

Hi everyone. Yes, we get the vitamins from Amazon for £7 something which is the cheapest I could find. The female version is much cheaper.
red Before my partner got his results he was convinced he was infertile and we discovered a lot of options that we could've taken if that was the case. I really hope you hear something that helps you.
Well it looks like I might have rabies after all because a BFN is staring me in the face at 14dpo. This is worse than that time I Googled my boob rash only to find out I probably only had a few months left to live. I'm still here though, beating the odds once again. Grin It only took me 4 double chocolate Maryland cookies and a mince pie to get over the negative this month. Progress. So it looks like December will be my month. Hope everyone else has better luck. Smile

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 19/11/2012 20:30

Welcome thingymajigs sorry to hear about your rabies diagnosis bfn. Better luck in December.

red best of luck for your appointment tomorrow, winkle is right try and look at it as a step closer to what you want. Tingling boobs sounds good though.

LittleMissSnowShine · 19/11/2012 21:00

Welcome thingy and hope the excessive saliva is just mouthwatering at thought of lovely christmas goodies coming our way soon and not a symptom of rabies!

red - good luck tomorrow! and glad to hear about boob tingling ... something hormonal is def happening so that's always a good sign that your body is either getting up duffed or getting ready to be up duffed in a cycle coming your way soon

DH has been taking the regular wellman vits for flipping YEARS cos he's into gym / marathon running etc. but before that he was a smoker / drinker / lazy arse so when he too up fitness training he got into it in a big way. he's swapped to conception wellman vits recently so we shall see..

CD18 here, managed to dtd an hour ago cos DH was going out to meet friends tonight so got DS to bed and got in a quick one before he had to go! So that's CDs 7, 9, 13,14,15,16, and 18 done. Just another 3 or 4 shags to go this cycle really.

Also found out today I have a job interview next week! Mixed emotions! I'd always planned to stay in my current job which is v flexible / family friendly etc. until we'd had DC 2. But after I lost baby in the summer and haven't got pg again I started to not exactly get itchy feet cos I do love my job but there's no opportunities for promotion or development there cos it's such a small organisation and it's not very secure, so I saw this come up a couple of weeks ago and applied. Plus points is that it is quite a similar post to what I have now but more secure and better money. It's also still part time, but it's more like 4 days rather than 3 days a week, which I am a bit angsty about because DS is only 2 and I like being at home with him on Thurs/Fri but DH has agreed that if I do get it, he will go a 4.5 day week and I'll do a 4 day week, and his mum will do another half day so DS willl still only be at childminders 2 days a week, granny 1.5 days, me 1 day and DH half a day, so I think it'll work out ok. Exciting! But nervewracking...

redstrawberry · 19/11/2012 21:21

little same here DH started rigorous gym routines in July and spends an hour cycling each day - apparently very bad for morphology!!! How are men supposed to know this stuff! They shud have health warnings on bikes me thinks Smile "injurious to sperm quality"

I have got him on the Wellman conception ones and Brazil nuts - hopefully we see some results in 3 months! Why does it take sperm so long to get better! 3 months feels like eons! DH has been very willing to try anything to improve the morpho.

winkle2 · 19/11/2012 21:51

Exciting news about the interview littlemiss. Go for it!

Red - my hub too has been great about trying to improve the morphology. At first he was drinking way too much but he really cut back. Just wish there was some definite info out there about what improves it. The info is quite sketchy.

OP posts:
LittleMissSnowShine · 19/11/2012 22:45

A guy I work with has to take vitamin B injections and they told him recently he has a v low folate count so he has to take folic acid for next few months, because if left untreated he was told it could mess with his swimmers / morphology. He's only 24 and no notion of having kids any time soon but crazy that something like that if it hadn't have been picked up could have caused him major fertility issues ten years down the line...

Brazil nuts all round!

Thingymajigs · 20/11/2012 13:37

Thank you little. Great news about the interview, hope it goes well.
I'm on cd 31,15 dpo, (unless fertilityfriend got that wrong which seems likely) and no period yet, just another BFN.
This next cycle I'm assuming the observer effect is applicable in this situation which means I'm going to stop focusing so much on the process incase I'm hindering it somehow. I'm not going to temp or use OPK's, it's back to basics to see if I can get a modicum of normality back to baby making. I'm not even going to chart the dates... No, that's a lie I probably will do that tbh but I'm definitely going to chill out a lot more. Anyone else sick of the charting and checking and peeing on things? I'm exhausted by it all. I'm calling a rest month.

LittleMissSnowShine · 20/11/2012 15:11

Thingy - I use fertility friend but not opks or temping and it is more relaxing (tho so far not more successful!)

CD19 here. Feel a bit tired but had a couple of late nights so not really surprising but lower back / hips have been a bit achy for last few days so possible symptom?? Hope so!!

redstrawberry · 20/11/2012 18:36

Just wanted to provide an update after our appt with the FS.
She didn't seem to concern although she said morphology was a little concern but more importantly the abnormal diagnosis was because of Antisperm Antibodies (ASA). Dh has 25% of ASA and the normal should be 10% and under.

The presence of ASA impairs the motility of sperm. They Antisperm stick to the good sperm and prevent them from swimming further trapping them within the cervical passage. The morphed sperm are not a problem apparently.

She said the wellman conception pills would help to bring the numbers of ASA down. She's asked some more tests on me and said if mine come back normal again then she wants us to keep trying naturally first, but if we want she will refer us for an IUI treatment and clomid.

Dh and I talked and we have decided to try conceiving naturally for another 6-8months and then she where that leaves us.

She was really nice and has ordered more blood tests for us on cycle day 1,3and5. My LH / FSH ration was unusually high so she wants me tested for PCOS. Also wants to check my Fallopian tubes so doing the HyCosy test which is painful. Feel like a bit of a lab rat, but relieved there is still hope.

winkle2 · 20/11/2012 19:07

Glad you're feeling hopeful red. You're getting a step closer.

I'm glad wellman can bring ASA down. That's great news.

Interesting that she said morphology isn't a problem...

OP posts:
winkle2 · 20/11/2012 19:10

I don't think my hub was tested for ASA. How do you get tested for that?

OP posts:
Thingymajigs · 20/11/2012 19:19

Fingers are crossed for you little. I always find it annoying that pregnancy symptoms are so similar to period symptoms.
That's good news red. There are so many options available and its nice you like the specialist. So you are just carrying on normally for a little while and see if the vitamins work? Did your husband have more than one SA done btw? My partner only had one which came back ok/borderline but I always wondered if he could have just one half decent result that could've skewed the results. I'm hoping Wellman vitamins make a difference for us too. Which reminds me.. I need to see if he's actually remembered to take them today.

redstrawberry · 20/11/2012 19:27

Winkle and thingy - I am getting worried abt the ASa after googling. Winkle the ASA was done as part of the sperm analysis. It was there on the print out but I never checked what it meant.

I think the worse case scenario for ASA is 80-95%, but 25% is not too bad but probably why it's taking so long. She said morphology is a problem but not as bad as the ASA. That's the one we should focus on getting fixed as it clumps the sperm together preventing them from swimming. Morphed sperm don't cause that problem and because of his high sperm count its not an issue, but ASA is a bit of a problem.

He's going to do a second test in January to see if things have improved. thingy when did your partner do his first test? Might be worth getting another done. The consultant said "sperm changes as fast as changing t-shirts" so hopefully the second test is better.

winkle2 · 20/11/2012 19:43

I'm going to ask for hub to have the ASA tested too then. Thanks.
