Anyone else waiting to TTC?

LadyEmmaHamilton · 15/09/2012 21:00

There was a thread here a while back but I seem to have lost it.

DH and I have decided to start trying in Jan, but I am now getting very impatient! We're going on hols in Dec to sonewhere it would be pretty hideous to be suffering with early pregnancy symptoms, so it makes perfect sense to wait, but it's driving me mad!

It's not so long ago that I was in two minds about getting started and holding on for as long as possible Hmm

Anyone in the same/similar boat?

We're very much taking the approach of letting nature take it's course, although my control freak has started at least noting when I'm ov Blush

Thundercatz · 21/09/2012 15:08

It's funny (but comforting) to hear others echoing my own thoughts!

NovemberAli · 21/09/2012 22:59

Seems like a long time to wait at the moment, am so excited about having a brother or sister for DD.

Has anyone else been taking cerazette? Was taking it as i was BF DD until early this year, but really didn 't get on with it, now cycles are all random!

BoyMeetsWorld · 21/09/2012 23:08

Used to be on cerazette a long time ago. Made me super moody & lost my libido completely lol. Didn't take long to get back to normal - both periods & moods - after coming off it, about 1-2 months.

Emmylu · 22/09/2012 18:44

Hi Thundercatz, I've told my 2 very best friends but no-one else. I don't really want the expectant looks every month! I am with you on taking the folic acid, it's the closest thing short of dtd that I can get to TTC! I have also been charting my temps since I came off the pill just to get a bit of a handle on my cycles. I had also planned to lose weight and exercise more but that isn't proving quite as easy......! Blush Biscuit

MrsWajs · 25/09/2012 15:26

Can I join too please?

Going to start TTC #2 in January as well, although may consider coming off my pill before then and just see what happens. Currently due to finish ADs for PND so want to wait until that's out of my system first.

My DD is 17mo and I have a DSS who is 4.9yo.

NovemberAli Your name looks familiar, have I been on a thread with you befoire? Were you a Frolicker too?

CourgetteSmuggler · 25/09/2012 15:47

OOH Can I join to?

DD1 turned one recently and although I thought I would want to leave it a lot longer DH and I have decided to TTC in January. DH is being deployed to Afghan in April and I'm a terribly moody pregnant woman so it will be perfect that he misses most of it he says Wink

I am so desperate to do it now, but i know it makes sense to wait Sad

Thundercatz · 25/09/2012 19:31

Hi all (courgette love your name! Begs a few questions?!) hope everyone's well! We are all so impatient aren't we?! I wonder if we can try and appreciate the time before pregnancy someone to make the most of this time rather than wishing it away... I will be ttc my first so I guess I have to appreciate what might be the last year or so (though could be longer dep on how long it takes) of it just being dh and I relatively carefree, lots of going out at will, undisturbed sleep and some selfishness.. It's hard though as you don't appreciate what you've got till it's gone - I am trying though! Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Thundercatz · 25/09/2012 19:34

Emmylu I'm glad you've got the folic acid excitement too - never has popping vits been so fun! Grin

Malteaser1982 · 26/09/2012 09:05

Quite a lot going on next Jan lol Grin There'll be a baby boom towards the end of 2013 Smile

Had my last breakthrough bleeding starting Monday and this will be my first pill-free cycle. Will see how long it takes for my cycles to get back to normal. I should really start on the folic acid, but at the moment I'm SO SO busy, I really don't have time to pop to the pharmacy. We'll be moving in around 2 weeks' time, possibly less, so atm it's packing packing packing!

MTBMummy · 26/09/2012 13:10

We've had an interesting turn, we've decided if we don't conceive by Xmas - we're going to then delay it another 4 months, as we already a large number of family Birthdays between September and Xmas - so it gets so expensive (and it would be nice to have one birthday we can celebrate in summer)

KittenCamile · 26/09/2012 18:26

Hey, can I join?! DP and I are starting ttc our first (he has a DD) in dec. Like most of you it seems so far away, I'm getting really impaitent too but me are moving house (extra bedroom for hopeful bump) and I have a huge work thing on that I couldn't risk early pregnancy sickness with.

We are both sooo excited but its hard not to talk to anyone else about it.

We are going for the just shagging plan, I have never been on the pill, we just use condoms and its getting harder for both of us to keep using them, we both want to say 'stuff it' and go for it but we have decided on dec so will try and be good!

juneybean · 27/09/2012 00:12

I don't know whether I belong in here but I'm actually going it alone, I started charting from my September cycle with a view to hopefully starting next year, but need to lose a few stone first Hmm

Bought some folic acid tonight though Grin

FrickinAnnoyed · 27/09/2012 00:18

Thinking about TTC Dec/Jan.

Wants kids but actually saying 'let's go for it' is so daunting.

FrickinAnnoyed · 27/09/2012 00:18

*want

We both do Smile

KittenCamile · 27/09/2012 11:32

Thundercatz I know exactly what you mean, I am desparte for a baby and wishing the days away but DP although hugely excited keeps saying what you have said, we should enjoy our last few months of being quite carefree.

I see it slightly differently as we have lovely DSD who is nearly 4yrs here 50% of the time so even though this would be my first we really aren't carefree!

Its hard to get your head to enjoy the last bit of freedom when all you want with all your heart is a baby! My head has made the choice to have a family, it just wants time to catch up.

How are you doing with this?

faithfulandtruthful · 27/09/2012 17:25

Hi everyone,

I was on the previous wttc but my date to ttc has passed and I'm still wttc. I am really quite upset about it, OH and I had every intention of ttc this summer but due to personal circumstances, namely finances we have decided to wait.

I am heartbroken because we now don't even have a date to try and I cannot get my head around how we can save up money (to buy a house) and afford to have a baby at the same time. Its a Hormone vs head decision.

Everyone keeps saying 'your still young' (I'm 29) but fertilitywise it the wrong side of the hill and due to other complications I shan't be trying over 35 and in my dream world I would like two children. I have calculated with both of us saving its going to take 5 years to get into a position to save up for a house. So am feeling very Sad

So may be those of you whom are waiting a few months may now feel as if their ttc date is very close compared to mine maybe! Best of Luck to you all.

Some people on here were asking about vits to take preconception, for those who have been on the Pill I recommend Vit B complex (your vit B6 can be depleted by being on the pill which in turn effects you hormone levels) herbally angus cactus helps to restore hormone balance and milk thistle detox's your liver (where hormones can get stored up from taking the pill).* I am not a Dr they are just what I am taking currently.

I also recommend reading 'Taking control of your fertility' its fascinating stuff and has certainly increased my knowledge on the subject. Plus it passes the time until ttc!!

Hope all you lovely ladies are having a better day than I.

F&T x

FrickinAnnoyed · 27/09/2012 18:02

I am in the same position faithful. We don't own a home and wonder how far we should get in saving before having a family. A deposit for us will be another 4-5 years saving. Even moving to a bigger flat and paying nursery fees will add £1500 to our monthly outgoings which of course will kill saving all together. I am 30, but DP is younger - so age an issue for me.

We got preg accidentally 2 years ago which, while financially would have been even worse, felt like a blessing because the decision of when to do it was taken out of our hands. Sadly I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks Sad Since then I have been thinking 'when?'

I've written on here that maybe Jan is when we TTC but I just don't know if that will happen, or even if it should.

I also have the usual fears of losing freedom etc etc and whether I'm ready for that. DP also being v young is a concern to me, less so for him. I over think things and he is much more laid back Smile

KittenCamile · 27/09/2012 19:24

faithfulandtruthful I'm so sorry, I can't imagine how hard it must be for you. I hope you can sort something out that works for you.

We have actually just sold our house and are now renting a bigger place because its cheaper and we couldn't afford a 3 bed in a nice area if we buy. I don't see why owning a house before having a baby is so important. Now if anything goes wrong in our new rented place we simply phone someone and it gets fixed, no saving for it or anything. Plus if our money situation changes we can move quickly to somewhere cheaper and not risk looseing our house.

I'm quite shocked that owning a house would make people put off having a baby. Not ment to offend just didn't realise it was so important to people.

I'm reading Taking control of your fertility as well, its so interesting! I have learnt so much about my body and your right it does help get you ready for ttc. I'm not charting as we are just going to stop using condoms and see how we go for a while but it has helped me be able to tell when I'm ovulateing etc. It will come in handy if we haven't got a BFP in 6 months.

KittenCamile · 27/09/2012 19:25

FrickinAnnoyed I'm so sorry about you MC, I had one 4 years ago. You have my deepest sympathy. X

FrickinAnnoyed · 27/09/2012 20:25

I suppose it's having that option kitten. If we had a baby it would kill any option of owning a home ever.

FrickinAnnoyed · 27/09/2012 20:48

I know you're not supposed to moan about having to be sober for nine months, but I can't say I'm looking forward to it! Smile Especially in the first few months when you don't want to have to explain myself. People knew the instant I was drinking when I was preg before. And a lot of my (limited) social life invokes muchos wine! Grin

Thundercatz · 27/09/2012 21:33

Faithful so much of what you've said sounds like exactly the thoughts and concerns going through our heads. We are fortunate enough to Jane bought a house that is spacious enough for a small family but we have a huge mortgage and have incurred lots of debt in spending on it... Now we are desperately trying to pay it off before having a baby. Though financially it would make sense not to even start trying for a year+ ultimately we both agreed to put a deadline on it by which date we have ttc even though financially its not perfect plus we are nervous not quite ready. That's because of age -im 30 and dh 31 so we think there's come a point where we just need to get on with it - terrifying as it is!!! Kitten that leads me to answer your question I guess I'm
Concentrating on the carefree comfort of current life to try and keep me patient - it is hard though as I'm incredibly excited! I feel paradoxical!
So do you guys recommend tcoyf? I have seen good reviews but am scared it might make me obsessive ... What do you think?

Thundercatz · 27/09/2012 21:35

Sorry - my house is not called Jane - that is supposed to read "have" am on train on my phone !! Smile

Thundercatz · 27/09/2012 21:40

Frickin agree with you too - ideal time for us wouldn't be to fall preg as soon as we start ttc in jan - but I'm assuming it will take a few months - and if it happened immediately I know we would be over the moon and feel blessed. I guess I'm trying to hedge my bets and see the advantages of a baby in a year and a baby in 1.5-2 years instead ..!
