When do you test with the cb, I don't have a regular cycle either and have no idea when to test unless I do it everyday and re-mortgage to be able to do that!!

I think I might head off in my lunchbreak tomorrow to get some cb opks. But will resist using them for about 12 days I think.....in the meantime, I guess it is just a case of practising with DH (amidst packing boxes for house move 4 weeks today)

Chook I start on day 6 then just try as long as possible. I know what you mean about price though!! I got a good deal on eBay but u have to watch it like a hawk! I said the same to my DH and he said the cost for the sticks was nothing in the grand scale of things when u have the cost of a child but we don't have any yet so easy to say! Also only on 3rd cycle of trying so he may say otherwise in 6 months time (fingers crossed BFP before then!)!

Thanks for that, I am still trying to take a relaxed approached to ttc so am not monitoring anything just dtd as and when we can hopefully it will work soon, but if not then I will start to poas just to give us the best chance! But you are right the cost is nothing if in the end you get your baby, and to be fair once you have one you don't stop spending money on them so it is kind of fitting!

Almond I agree, avocados are far too healthy for a bus journey
I've only done two days (started day 7) of the CB OPK sticks but they seem easy enough to use. Except for the packaging around the new sticks. Bloody difficult to open first thing in the morning when you're dying for a pee!

waves Might waiting 12 days be too late? Obviously I don't know how long your cycle is, but you should start testing on day 6. Once you get the smiley face you don't have to test any more. It means that you are in the magic 48 hours.

hello all, and welcome newcomers.
Thanks for the feedback, I think I am going to hold off on the ovulation sticks for this month. For me, I think it would just be another thing to rattle around in my TTC brain. I know its early days but seems like once you make the big decision to try a BFP can't come fast enough . I am determined not to get consumed with the mechanics and try to enjoy the process. If we don't have any luck in the next couple of months I expect I'll rethink using OPK.
Hope no-one minds but until then my TTC stresses are going to be played out strictly on MN and not in RL!

Hello again,

I said that I wouldn't use OPKs until we had been trying for 6 mths, but my husband has convinced me to give them a try this month (after a friend of his became pregnant soon after starting to use them).

So I've started using Clear Blue digital sticks from CD6 this month. I know the instructions say you can use them in the morning, but after reading so many stories of them not working as well in the morning, I am using them at around 5pm each day (they're so expensive, I don't want to risk them not working!). I know earlier in the afternoon is ideal, but I'm at work then and really can't do the tests there!

It's torture as I normally drink a lot of water throughout the day. The instructions just state to not drink an excessive amount, but I think that what I normally drink would be considered excessive to most people (I'm always sipping from a water bottle) so I'm just having a tiny sip of water every hr between 1 and 5pm (and obviously not going to the loo during this time).

CD6 seems early to start testing for a 28 cycle; I'm going with it this month as it's the first, but I'll start later next month (maybe CD10). I'm on CD9 now and no smiley yet.

I've been using them in the morning. Only three days into testing but hoping for a smiley face over this weekend.

that's me stopping the bus to get off I'm afraid. I was put on risk of redundancy yesterday and having another baby without the guarantee of my salary is just not an option. So I'm checking out until the new year when I'll know one way or the other.
