DulcetMoans · 11/08/2012 21:38

Time to move over ladies. Would love to start this thread by announcing my BFP but unfortunately I can't because we all talk too much to get to test date!

All going for gold medals in baby-making and bound to get there soon, aren't we???

haha. Snap. I used my only FR that I discovered last week. Figured if I was going to do it this early I better roll out the big guns. Didn't help and this afternoon I have been sure I am not pregnant anyway. Familar feelings back for normal AF...

Lisa sorry to hear the af arrived ? hope you get a BFP in September

Dulcet ? love the name of the thread and hopefully it?ll come true for us all

Hi scarlet ella and pumykins

LoveinNY are you reading the Baby-Making Bible? I?ve just started reading this and it sounds quite similar. Hoping I will get some tips from it. Not planning on acupuncture at the moment but I might pursue it in a few months.

Roxy I am really sorry to hear your news. I also think you should research it and then go back. I do think that GPs can give inaccurate information/advice from time to time. Would you be able to consider going privately?

I had a tiny bit of spotting today when I wiped (very dark blood) ? no idea what it is but if it is the start of af, I just hope it starts properly so I?m not on when I go away next week.

NicolaHazel · 13/08/2012 20:13

How many DPO, Woody? Implantation?

Roxyjade · 13/08/2012 20:22

Yes I'm thinking of going private, Newbie what were the prices and where I don't think I saw that. I really do think I just need clomid but she said they won't give it as they course multiple pregnancys and its dangerous and the reason why the waiting list is high is because there is a high fertility in where I live . I'm just emotionally drained and upset, I'm only 26 and that's all they keep saying "your still young"

Newbie2 · 13/08/2012 20:30

Roxy ahhh ok. Yeah they don't dish out fertility treatment unless your 30 and in some practises you have to be TTC for 6 months. My DH called up our closest private hospital and the costs were £150 consultation, £250 for a scan and blood test around £100. Like I said before, since you've had tests already you might not need more tests. If you can afford it deffinately go private so you can sort this out quickly.

Bunnygirlie · 13/08/2012 20:33

Hi can I join? Just started TTC first child, on 3rd cycle :-) getting confused with talk of ovulation etc AF all over the place since coming off pill in feb so no idea when due really :-s

EasternPixie · 13/08/2012 20:43

Found you all on the new thread, hope it brings luck for everyone :)

Started my 2ww now and seems like ages already! Not sure I am that patient!

Does anyone drink alcohol at all while they are trying or only once af has arrived for a week or so. Dr said it was OK to have a couple of small glasses of wine once or twice a week (can't remember which) but not sure if its a risk?

Newbie2 · 13/08/2012 20:49

EasternP basically you start off being super crazy conscious about alcohol and food and then as time goes by and you still haven't got your BFP you start to relax a lot maybe too much Grin

Roxyjade · 13/08/2012 20:51

Hi eastern pixie, yeah I have a few glasses of wine during week but today
It's more like a bottle! Strange thing is my doctor hasn't mentioned drinking, smoking diet or anything to me

FrankelSaysRelax · 13/08/2012 20:54

Roxy can I just say your Dr is talking absolute bollocks, scuse my French. If Clomid were dangerous they would not be allowed to prescribe it to women. Yes there is an increased risk of multiple pregnancy but my nurse told me in 10 years she has never seen "Clomid twins".

Get yourself to another Dr for a second opinion ASAP.

Roxyjade · 13/08/2012 21:00

Oh thank You Frankie, that has made me feel a little better, she said they won't until TTC for 2 years. I have also read (I no I houldnr read google) that people have conceived with low progestrone. First she said if you are having a period you're ovulating, now she is saying anything under 30 you ate not ovulating (mine was 24 and 25, so not far
Off 30) and the. She said do a test in a week if
You have still had no AF as its early still ....I was thinking "you just told me I was not ovations as it was under 30" I just walked out and cried like a baby (I mean really cry) I cried so much when I got I was sick (sorry detail and ranting) x

Newbie2 · 13/08/2012 21:03

Roxy there is an increased risk of multiple births but the percentage is low. I guess all that matters is you and your partner know and underatand the risks. There are also side effects but if you look it up I don't think they are anything that I'm not experiencing already like sore boobs, bloating...oh you can also get nausea but im sure it's worth it. Hope what I'm saying is helping!

DulcetMoans · 13/08/2012 21:08

Yeah, if it was dangerous I am sure they wouldn't be able to prescribe it. IVF increases the risk of multiples but that still happens.

Roxyjade · 13/08/2012 21:08

Newbie thank you, yes it is definatley helping you have all made me feel so much better, I dont no what I would do without you all. Ok so she has said i should go back in 6 months, shall I just leave it or call her. She said I need to ring he when AF arrives but that was it

EasternPixie · 13/08/2012 21:11

That's a relief, was hoping to have a nice glass of wine on hols next week.

Thought I would be so relaxed about ttc, DH says I read too much and give myself too many things to worry about!

Dr seemed to only have advice for me, DH can basically do what he wants as long as he's wearing loose pants apparently!

FrankelSaysRelax · 13/08/2012 21:12

Ask for a different Dr. She shouldn't make you feel like that [un-MNetty hug for you]. Maybe consider a different GP surgery, just in case it is the surgery policy that is in the wrong.

Unfortunately, unless you go private, you will need a GP referral to be seen at an NHS fertility clinic.

The comment about having to wait 2 years is also rubbish. The NHS guidelines state that you should go to your GP after 1 year of trying, though you should go sooner if you are over 35.

Whereabouts in the country are you? If you start a new thread here in conception someone might be able to recommend a good clinic near you.

FrankelSaysRelax · 13/08/2012 21:14

Here are the NHS guidelines on Clomid. Dangerous, my arse!

woody17 · 13/08/2012 21:14

nicola I think I ov last wkend/last week. Would that fit with imp bleeding?

NicolaHazel · 13/08/2012 21:21

Implantation happens 6-12 DPO, so potentially. :-)

Roxyjade · 13/08/2012 21:22

Thanks frankle

I leave in west sussex, I will call her when AF arrives and then say about clomid because I think that's all I need. My ultrsound is fine, no cyst do only thing they can't check is my tubes. It is just a hormone problem. I will ask when I ring, thank you all for your help and support, you truly are real friends x

FrankelSaysRelax · 13/08/2012 21:25

Back yourself up with lots of facts. If she comes out with the "Clomid is dangerous" line again, ask her why the NHS recommend it for the treatment of hormonal infertility if that is the case.

[sneaks back off to the shadows]

Roxyjade · 13/08/2012 21:35

I will do thank you , i will call
Her if AF when AF arrives (if she does) and then ask again about clomid

Thank you all, you really are true friends, made me feel sooooo much better x

Lolcbcb · 13/08/2012 22:00

Hi roxy I will second what everyone said. I have a friend who had 5 courses of ivf and was told she wouldn't be able to conceive naturally as her environment was dry and unfriendly! After the five failed attempts she gave up and next minute she was pg naturally- and she was 39!
Get other opinions and go private if u can afford it. Try not to panic!
Woody- hope u had a nice weekend. I too had spotting sat and sun and am currently in my own little dream that it could indeed be implantation! So join me in la la landGrin

LoveinNY · 13/08/2012 22:01

We'll all have AF producing thoughts Roxy, and there is definitely plenty options for you to explore. The nurse at the family planning clinic said I had to be trying for a year before I could get any tests, (looking for something vaguely +ve), now you know that you can be trying to raise your levels. And I'm 27 but being young doesn't mean we don't still really want it and will work hard to get it.
Woody, yeah that's the book. I'm 42% through (reading on ipad) and quite enjoying it, although found deciding on a 'type' quite tricky. I was rather scared of the acupuncture, but the lady was so reassuring and I was solo relaxed after it that it was worth it whatever the result.
Fx for AF tomo so I can move on with a fresh cycle and try again, same for all those in the MIA AF club. Xxx

NicolaHazel · 14/08/2012 06:30

BFN. AF still MIA!
