DulcetMoans · 11/08/2012 21:38

Time to move over ladies. Would love to start this thread by announcing my BFP but unfortunately I can't because we all talk too much to get to test date!

All going for gold medals in baby-making and bound to get there soon, aren't we???

Thanks purple

My hubby best friend is having a baby to, they came off the pill in December and by mid jan she was pregnant. Its horrible
To say but I get so jelous and upset that it's taken me soooo long. Hopefully we will get there soon

Ha ha newbie you make me laugh, I must say since I have come off the pill I am more bloated and I have bad spots all the time, doctor said the pill makes your skin good :)

Newbie2 · 13/08/2012 12:47

Roxy I feel for you too. It's so so hard to be happy for friends when they have something you want so badly. I can sit here and say I know how you feel but it must be extra hard for you as you've been trying longer. It helps me to know I'm not alone because you lot are all in the same boat and if you were my rl friends I probably wouldn't even know what you were going through. Glad I made you laugh with my painful tights though...may have to start buying maternity tights :-/

Newbie2 · 13/08/2012 12:59

Actually that would be very unhealthy for my brain to start buying maternity clothes lol Maybe I need to buy holdups or trousers!!

Roxyjade · 13/08/2012 14:37

Oh my god, talking about maternity clothes, I brought some black leggings last week and wondered why they felt extra comfortable and I had no hob flab hanging out, turns out I brought maternity ones, ha ha, seriously they are the most comfortable pair of leggings ever, you must get some. Going doctors now girls so will let you know the outcome,

Yep I have been trying for ever but hopefully it will happen soon.

I class you lot as my friends, my real friends aren't interested , I was so upset when I couldn't find the new thread (sad I no)

Speak soon x

Newbie2 · 13/08/2012 14:41

Just read that the doctor can give you a drug called 'provera' to kick start AF. Don't think it's that simple though otherwise they would be handing them out willy nilly! Only discovered it when reading about the drug Chlomid (that stimulates ovulation) because you have to start taking chlomid on a certain day and I was wondering how I would do that if I didnt know what cycle day I was on. Just thought I would share my fact of the day again :)

Newbie2 · 13/08/2012 14:43

Roxy I've currently got my legs crossed for you. We're all virtual TTC friends :)

Lolcbcb · 13/08/2012 15:02

roxy good luck hun! Let us know.
purple if u are on cd 23, when are u planning to poas? We might do it together. I might do it fri/ sat. Not decided.
I know what u mean about rl friends. My best friend hates children and if she had her way I would never have one she was great through mc but deep down I know she is relieved there's no baby yet. So even though we share pretty much everything we can't share this. She would try and fail to understand me so i don't even try.
You ladies are doing a fine job Grin

PuppyMummy · 13/08/2012 16:23

quick question if anyone knows. -

got to hav a smear. rang today and asked receptionist if it mattered when I went in my cycle, explained I'm ttc.

she said it didn't matter as long as wasn't on af.

am booked in for next week 2 days before af due. anyone know if receptionist is right? obviously ill check with nurse before she does anything...

Newbie2 · 13/08/2012 16:39

I don't think it matters. I've also been told 'as long as AF is not present'

LoveinNY · 13/08/2012 16:43

Hi ladies, I have some new information re our missing AF problems. Smile so after reading some of my new ttc book, I got interested in Chinese medicine, ESP acupunture. went to see a lovely lady today and talked through my 'issues' and goals, firstly with getting AF to appear. Had acupunture, not sore but a strange sensation and she gave me agnus castus pills to bring on AF and ov. She also suggested I take evening primrose oil and a multi vitamin, so I had a quick visit to Holland and Barrat and got both, multi vit in the form of pregnacare conception.
I am trying the natural route before going down the medication one, she wants to see me for another session just before I ov and this should shorted and regulate my cycle.
Here's some info on bothnid you're interested. Grin
Agnus Castus (Vitex or Chaste tree berry)

This is the herb of choice for helping to restore hormone imbalance and increasing fertility. In one study 48 women diagnosed with infertility took agnus castus daily for three months, 7 of them became pregnant during that time and 25 of them regained normal progesterone levels.

Agnus castus is particularly helpful for those women who have a luteal phase defect (shortened second half to the cycle) or those with high prolactin levels, because it stimulates the proper functioning of the pituitary gland which controls the hormones.

Agnus castus works to restore hormonal balance and can be used where there are hormone deficits as well as excesses it:

Regulates periods
Restarts periods which have stopped
Helps with heavy bleeding
Increases the ratio of progesterone to oestrogen by balancing excess oestrogen.
Note:
Don't take any herbs while you are using drug treatments or going through assisted conception (such as IVF), unless prescribed by a qualified practitioner.

Evening Primrose Oil is an herbal supplement that is believed to have benefits for infertility, among many other uses. Evening Primrose Oil contains Gamma Linolenic Acid, an Omega 6 fatty acid. This ingredient is the key to the benefits of this supplement for fertility.
Evening Primrose Oil is said to have benefits for women trying to conceive a baby. One of the benefits is that it helps produce cervical mucous that is right for conception. This helps the sperm live longer and reach the egg.

Phew!!! Longest post ever! Hope it helps. Xxx

Newbie2 · 13/08/2012 17:02

Love did she warn you that you have to stop using before OV otherwise can cause your womb to contract and lead to miscarriage in some cases. Because of this I've stayed away as I never know where I really am in the cycle. Others on this thread have used both...seems to get mixed reactions. Hope it works for you :)

Newbie2 · 13/08/2012 17:22

Roxy how did you get on?

LoveinNY · 13/08/2012 17:24

She gave me 12 days worth. From what I've read, some people only take the first half and some take them all the way through. There's no actual proof they contribute to mc, but I'll just take these to get on with. Just want AF at the mo!

NicolaHazel · 13/08/2012 17:44

I'm being driven mad by sore breasts / stinging nipples.

I now have more creamy CM. And I'm sure isn't a feature when AF is imminent.

This is awful! How do you cope, Newbie?

NicolaHazel · 13/08/2012 17:45

Yeah, how was it, Roxy?

Roxyjade · 13/08/2012 17:59

Hi guys sorry just been having a good old
Cry so had a hot bath and now having some wine.

Doctor said my progestrone is 24 and 25 and because it's below 30
Then I'm not ovulating at all (I have read anything over 10 means ovulation but she's the expert) so she said there is nothing more than can do apart from refer me to a fertilty specialise but they won't do that until
I have been trying for 2 years, so feb 2013 and then I will be on a waiting list. I'm absolutely gutted, I can not belive that I can't have children, I just don't no what to do any more :(

NicolaHazel · 13/08/2012 18:07

I'm so sorry, Roxy.

Is there nothing you can take to increase levels? Or would that be for the fertility people to decide?

I know you're not ready yet as it is all new and raw, but I would spend time researching it, and if you find something you should be given by your GP, go back and demand explanations. Don't always take your GP at face value, they can get things wrong. Xx

LoveinNY · 13/08/2012 18:07

Oh Roxy. I'm so sorry, have a good cry, scream and shout if you want to. I know you need to take in board what the docs say - but - good things happen and if you've read that levels lower mean you could pos still ov, then keep ttc and look at alternative therapies.
All my love. Thanks xxx

Roxyjade · 13/08/2012 18:15

Thanks guys, it means alot, I just need to increase
My progestrone some how. I have read they do progestrone creams so might give that a shot and b6 to?

FrankelSaysRelax · 13/08/2012 19:01

Sorry to butt in, again, but Roxy I'd be asking for a second opinion.

I spent 6 months having blood tests whilst on Clomid and the fertility nurses said anything over 10 is taken to mean ovulation has happened. Was it a Day 21 blood test you had? The Dr may think that 24 and 25 is low for Day 21, but that only works if you ovulate on Day 14 - most women don't!

The way progesterone works is like this - after ovulation it builds and builds for 7 days before falling back down to single digits. Because they call 28 days a "normal" (ha!) cycle Day 21 would be the day 7 peak. However, if you didn't ovulate until Day 20 the levels would still be on the increase. If you ovulate early, say Day 12, by Day 21 the levels would be falling from their peak. Unfortunately there is no way of telling if you are reading levels on the up or on a decline.

Whatever happens, please don't be upset. This does not mean you can't have children, it might just mean you need a bit of help along the way.

DulcetMoans · 13/08/2012 19:08

Seems I missed a lot today! Sorry about your news roxy. I bet you don't know what to think. I think newbie is right, maybe take a bit of time to yourself and then research what she said and go back with any questions you have. Tough news to take, I hope you get some hugs tonight.

Book says no cm immediately before AF usually nicola so it is unusual.

OP posts:
NicolaHazel · 13/08/2012 19:37

I've always managed to be unusual, Dulcet...good to see I'm living up to previous standards! :-/

I've had creamy CM on and off since 5DPO. It really surprised me today though!

But tests just keep on being negative. Glad I got 25 so cheap, as they'll be gone by the end of this cycle!

DulcetMoans · 13/08/2012 19:41

If it helps, I tested this morning with BFN. Not unexpected but it's really hard not to test when you are peeing in a pot everyday anyway!

OP posts:
NicolaHazel · 13/08/2012 19:47

I actually used one of the CB ones today as I just did not believe the cheapie one.

Turns out they were in agreement with each other.

Bugger.

Newbie2 · 13/08/2012 19:59

Hang on, I haven't said anything yet, that was Frankie :)

Roxy Aww hun! OK let's think practically. Have you thought about going private? Remember I listed the costs the other day and it really isn't as high as everyone thinks. You've already had a few tests so you can take those results with you. No matter what, don't give up yet! It's way too early to give up hun! 2nd option is to ask to see another opinion and see a different doctor. A good option if you don't want to pay for private. There are so many ladies who suffer from bad advice. I got some good advice from someone on here who was diagnosed with PCOS...she's now pregnant. It's not the end for you!! Big hug x
