leluella · 10/08/2012 14:25

Thanks bunnygirlie and puppymummy,

Did the test a couple of hours ago and its positive! Am still in shock and think my other half will freak when I tell him tonight as we both thought it would take a while! Can't believe it and looks like a no alochol hen party for me tomorrow night!

woody17 · 10/08/2012 14:27

Congratulations leluella

Do you think people will suspect when you aren't drinking alcohol on the hen?!

leluella · 10/08/2012 14:32

Its going to be really hard to fool them but really don't want to tell anyone yet. I will have to pretend to drink while not drinking beacause if anyone asks me why am not drinking I won't be able to keep a straight face!

PuppyMummy · 10/08/2012 17:14

congratulations ! great news

hollyscots · 10/08/2012 21:53

Hi can I join? Just came if the pill in march...4 cycles so far and not a hint ofa bfp! I'm just about to turn 33 and can't believe how easy I thought it would be...all my friends got pregnant within the first few months but I just have this sinking feeling...

PuppyMummy · 10/08/2012 22:45

welcome holly I'm on cycle 5, like u I hav 2 friends who conceived in the first month! very frustrating!

hollyscots · 10/08/2012 23:13

Hi puppy...are you tracking etc? I think I know when i'm ovulating but not am expert yet! Trying to avoid getting too obsessed but still secretly getting worried and down about the lack of any signs!

Bunnygirlie · 11/08/2012 10:32

Oh wow leluella congrats!
Welcome Holly! Let's hope this is now a lucky group you have joined!

I know how you feel, only on cycle 3 but I have one friend who just had her baby and she says they only DTD once that month and another who is 21 weeks and caught in first month. My parents tried for 5+years which is ok if you start at 22 but not at my age!!! Hope it doesn't run in the family!

Bunnygirlie · 11/08/2012 10:34

Leluella my friend blamed her not drinking on a wee infection lol maybe try that excuse lol

PuppyMummy · 11/08/2012 15:16

hi holly I keep a track of my cycle in my diary so I know how long each month is, how long each af is and when we dtd.

in terms of ovulation I use an online calculator to give me a rough idea of when I'm most fertile but regardless we try to dtd at least eod over the whole month starting around cd8.

this month though we r on the offensive and literally doing it eod if we can and started cd6!

I don't temp or use opks or anything as I think I would find it stressful.

PuppyMummy · 11/08/2012 15:24

as far as signs go I don't think u can always know. I think I sometimes have slightly different ewcm around the time I 'should ' be ovulating but that's it.

the best thing is to make u r having as much sex as possible! which is easier said than done sometimes!

its such a pot luck process too, even if u hav sex at exactly the right time it doesn't guarantee u fertilise an egg!

ttc is easily the most frustrating thing I hav ever done! and this is just the start! Grin

hollyscots · 11/08/2012 17:38

Thanks bunny...here's hoping!
Thanks puppy....I know when I ovulate roughly but as I posted my DH what I would term a fairly low sex drive and he's pretty happy with about once a week...any ideas whether this could pose a problem? Love him to bits but it can be frustrating! I also worry that a low sex drive may mean a low fertility? Anyone got any experience?

PuppyMummy · 12/08/2012 10:33

holly I don't think low sex drive equals low fertility. I don't think the two are linked.

if u hav an idea of when u ovulate just try and time when u r dtd just before or during this time. it only takes one afterall!

hollyscots · 12/08/2012 13:09

Puppy thanks for the reassurance! I guess its that i'm just worried that it'll never happen :) apart from twofriends who had successful ivf ask my other friends have gotten pregnant at the drop of the hat...we've had honeymoon babies, accidents, breastfeeding conception, first child 3 months and pregnant again, twins...the list goes on! Also so many folk are so insensitive...you've been married a year when its the baby coming etc.and every time my mother in law pops over I just know she's going through the bathroom bin to see if I've poas!

PuppyMummy · 12/08/2012 13:22

me and oh never wanted kids til about 2 yrs ago and no one close except for my sis knows were ttc so we can just get on with it in peace! less stress I'm sure!

Bunnygirlie · 13/08/2012 20:28

Yep that's why I came on here and started this thread as I don't really wanna tell people we're trying or i feel they will forever be asking if it's happened or even if they don't ask I'll know they are thinking it

OP posts:
hollyscots · 13/08/2012 21:14

I've just told my sis and step mum but it doesn't stop others making comments unfortunately...seems to be Babbie announcements going off left.right and centre and I can help but pray it'll be me next. Told dh that out physically hurts when I hold a friends wee one and then have to hand them back...he didn't get it. Am I the only one who walks around pretending ) in my head (that a niece is mine to imagine how it'll feel?

Bunnygirlie · 15/08/2012 08:30

Found a couple of apps on my iPad and according to that my average cycle is 33 days long and I'm on day 19, so do I stop trying until after AF?!?

OP posts:
Bunnygirlie · 16/08/2012 23:12

How's everybody doing?

OP posts:
cockerpoo · 17/08/2012 18:35

Hi ladies! Can I join? Have been lurking on mumsnet for a couple of weeks and you guys sound most like me Smile

I came off pill March, had 1st AF July, so suppose Aug was our first month TTC. No idea when next AF due as don't know my cycle lengths. If they're 'normal' then AF should be here any day now.

CONGRATS Leluella! Can't believe it happened in your first month. Woop!

xx

PuppyMummy · 17/08/2012 20:55

welcome cockerpoo what's in your name? the 'puppy' in mine is my cocker spaniel!

hi bunny how r u? I'm good. in middle of 2ww. af due next Friday...

cockerpoo · 17/08/2012 21:11

Yes my baby girl is half cocker and half poodle :) I'd love a pure cocker spaniel by DH says they drop too much hair. Found a gorgeous pepper one that's 8years old and blind in a rescue home today...really want to take him home! My doggies def like our baby. It's a bit silly really! Think she's been good practice for a real baby though...!

annabegins24 · 17/08/2012 21:33

Hi eveyone, can I join?
I'm 24 and came of the implant on the 12th of June, I had a bleed for a week 3 days after it came out...doc said it was probably a 'breakthrough bleed' no sign of af since then. I'm trying to avoid poas but I was really ill a couple of weeks ago with stomach cramps and nausea, I thought it was morning sickness but got a bfn.
Now I keep getting these weird cramps, Ive usually got a flat stomach but I actually look pregnant. Where my uterus is (just above my pubic bone) I feel really hard and protruding. Did a test yesterday...bfn.
I'm limited to wearing two tops at the moment that cover my belly cos people at work are giving me funny looks. So frustrated :(
