What is the difference between a evap line and a possitive test result?

Ok so four tests later and four faint lines later I've been reading up about evaporation lines and how they can be read as a 'false positive'
I want to get excited but I don't feel I can yet as I'm so unsure its really happening.
Please help, My last pregnancy was straight away bold and very in your face pregnant result so this is new to me
thank you x

Try a few different brands if you want a more definite result. Superdrug cheapo early tests are very good and give much bolder lines than the others (I tried a fair few brands when when testing four months ago).

Or of course, if you have the patience, you could wait a few days and test again. This will save you a fortune in pregnancy tests!

Good luck - fingers crossed for you Smile

I'm going to go to my Doctor tomorrow see if its just all in my head, I'm sure they will get it right, Thank you for the good luck and what was your out come( if you dont mind me asking)?
Are you pregnant and has this happened to you before ? x

Digital test... I was the same as you 32 weeks ago. No is it isn't it worries with a digital, best £10 ever spent.

hellymelly · 08/07/2012 23:06

A line is a line, however faint. My very faint line is asleep right now.

emsyj · 08/07/2012 23:09

I got a faint line which DH claimed he couldn't even see Hmm and tested again the following day - it was noticeably darker the next day, plus I did a digital that morning too to be sure. Although I got a negative on a digital on the Thursday then a positive on the Saturday so beware that early testing can lead to disappointing results!

hellymelly · 08/07/2012 23:22

Day by day your levels should be increasing, so the line that is very faint now (and mine were so faint as to be almost the suggestion of where the line would be if there was a line, if that makes sense ) Will be darker tomorrow, especially if you use first urine. You can always wee in a pot when you get up and then go off and buy a test if you need to.

motherOfOne27 · 08/07/2012 23:27

Thanks for the advise westcountry a few people seem to recommend the digital tests so they must be good,
Hellymelly aww thats so sweet bless hope I have the same out come and haven't wound my self up over nothing.
How confused must you be Emsyj, I think my head is spinning enough I hope the next and FINAL test will give me the result I hope for x

Good luck today Smile

Seeing your doctor is a good idea - as you say, they will get it right.

I am 23 weeks pregnant at the moment, and was lucky enough to 'catch' quite quickly. The first month I tested way too early and way too often I saw a number of evaporation lines; they were greyish rather than pink. The second month, 5 days before my period was due, I got a very faint pink line that I was sure DH would not be able to see, so I hot-footed it into town to buy a Superdrug test which showed a faint but unmistakeable pink line.

With my first pregnancy, I knew I was pregnant and made a right fool of myself in the local pharmacy saying that I couldn't understand why the tests came up negative Blush I was right and the tests were wrong because I was testing too early (as usual).

The digital tests are good for being easy to interpret, but I don't think they are as sensitive as the Superdrug ones so you may have to wait a little longer for a positive result.

motherOfOne27 · 09/07/2012 09:28

So ladies today i went to the doctor to have another test.
Bad news :( it came back negative.
I guess that's my answer then. feeling a little deflated and sort of silly as id kinda worked myself up to a positive, even when the doctor told me they are as accurate as you can get i still wanted to believe i had hope. i thank everyone for their kind words and comments, i just want to crawl in bed but no work now so put a happy face on xx

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 09/07/2012 09:33

I had a test done at the docs at 4 weeks (day af was due) which was negative. I'm now 17 weeks. Wait a few days, if af doesn't arrive test again!

Good luck

What did your faint lines look like? I don't want to give you false hope but the GP may have used a less sensitive test. Is your period late yet?

motherOfOne27 · 09/07/2012 14:38

I had two blue sainsburys tests which the horizontal line was dark bit with a light line down too so made a plus sign.
The pink tesco tests have a pink line in the positives window which you get it positives result and also the boxes on all tests had worked indicating no faulty tests.

eee when did this get so complicated eh xx

OP posts:
hellymelly · 09/07/2012 16:37

I think you need to get a clearblue or first response test and do another, they really sound like proper positives to me, I think your GP may have used a less sensitive test.

motherOfOne27 · 09/07/2012 16:38

Guess what.

Flowers

Wow, that's great news! Congratulations!

Digital tests are absolutely the best. Now if you got a double pack you can use the other one next week and see the 'weeks past conception' figure go up. Wink

hellymelly · 09/07/2012 17:40

Hurrah! I did feel pretty certain you were preggers, from the sound of the lines, I'm very happy for you! Thanks

motherOfOne27 · 09/07/2012 17:41

Thank you EVERYONE
I'm so glad I came on here or I'd have never bought a digital test and my GP would have been the last test I'd have done. How they can get it so wrong is beyond me. Smileys all round now :)

motherOfOne27 · 09/07/2012 17:43
