Any older mums ttc (late 30s)?

I was just wondering how many of the ttc people were in their late 30s or 40s.

I am 38 and started ttc this year. It would be nice if we could support each other.

Wow Ang that's great news. I don't really remember mucha about spotting when I was pregnant, but I know you can still have fake periods when you are pg, so who knows?
Now you take it easy. How many tests did you do?
My first test didn't work, no stripes of any description, so I went back and bought two more tests which both worked. I don't think I would have believed one.
Do you feel pregnant? Sicky tired etc...

Angsthase · 01/04/2006 11:00

Thanks Maisiemog.

Yes, feel tired, bloated, sore breasts and the test was VERY positive (also got very emotional last weekend about nothing - don't know if that's a sign?!). The spotting was only very slight and seems to have stopped. I read on babycentre that it could be "implanation" cramps. They seem to be intermitant and not painful, just uncomfortable, so I'm just going to chill out and wait and see. Fingers crossed.

Anyone else had them? Know how long they can last??

sideways · 01/04/2006 11:02

I don't know anything about them Ang but just wanted to say congratulations and fingers crossed for you.

Ang, just saw this. Fist of all, HUGE Congratulations! Send some babydust our way Smile

Yes, I had exactly the same thing with ds. Brownish implantation spotting and a weird, kind of heavy feeling. Like you said, not painful, but noticeable.

jabberwocky · 02/04/2006 00:08

Blush "First" of all...

Cristina7 · 02/04/2006 00:12

Congratulations, Angst. I hope all goes well for you.

Angsthase · 02/04/2006 11:18

Hooray! After my usual long break (turned out I hadn't yet mc'd after all - passed the empty sac whole on Thursday Sad and had a scan to confirm on Fri, I log back on to find a BFP! Well done Ang! A BFP normally is exactly what it says it is. Take it easy girl.

K1K2 · 03/04/2006 23:21

Dear Riley3 -so sorry to hear your news- I am a relative newcomer to MN and have been posting on the TTc threads, but to see your last thread it must have been awful for you to go through the mc heartache twice now, in a way- after a few weeks you thinking it was all over and all... I 'd thought i'd send my last post 2 nite ( I am getting addicted to this site) by wishing you all huge bd... If its any further consolation to you deferred Mums to be ( not old at all !), I had my DS ( now nearly 3) at the age of 39.5 -a total suprise..As like batmum earlier on in this thread, I was told after investigations years ago that I might have problems conceiving, due to extensive ahesions on my womb and ovaries. It can happen! LOL

K1K2 · 03/04/2006 23:35

Sorry I feel like a fool -LOL means Laugh out Loud doesn't it at MN? I meant it to be - Lots of Love... In fact I think that's what it should be- far nicer - nite nite

sideways · 09/04/2006 10:57

How's everyone doing?

OP posts:
riley3 · 18/04/2006 15:26

Hope everyone had a happy Easter - I did and feel I'm finally coming out the other side of the mc. How is everyone? Ang, are you definitely preg and I hope it's going well? We need to keep this thread going, or at least start a new older mum ttc type one, cos' I think we have a lot in common and can really support each other.

Nicola63 · 18/04/2006 15:37

Yes, riley I agree that we should keep this thread going. I too feel I am moving forward after the mc, thanks to a good holiday away. Waiting for AF today (one day late) but not getting hopes up. On thyroid hormone for three weeks now and feeling well (although unfortunately have not lost weight (was in Switzerland, all that chocolate!!..)

Hi Guys, I 'm keeping in with the older Mums ttc to wish you all good luck. For those who do not look in the other threads, it is a BFP for me at 42- 43 in October!! Baby due in Dec, so Mumball it is possible - the very best of luck Grin

sideways · 18/04/2006 23:31

K1K2 and Slink - congratulations on your pregnancies, that's great news!

Question for you ladies - I still give dd (2.10) a very small bf at bedtime, not much in there but she likes it! Do you think this is affecting my chances of conceiving? Should I stop?

Hi all, just checking in with you all. Yes Riley, still pg - 7 weeks. I won't fully believe all is ok until I get to the scan, so many things can happen in-between.

I'll be 39 in June and this is will (hopefully) be my first. So I figure if I can do it, anyone can!

Routing for you girls. All the very best of luck.

Angsthase · 19/04/2006 09:42

Of course I meant ROOTING for you all! (Too early in the morning!)

TuttiFrutti · 19/04/2006 10:03

Angsthase, I'll be 39 in June as well! It's so refreshing to talk to older mothers on here.

maisiemog · 19/04/2006 22:32

Hi all,
I've been looking into the ttc lark and it seems that you either have to check your temperature, check your cervical mucous or get one of those predictor strip thingys - is that about right?
It all seems like a bit of a faff, probably the test strips one is easiest?
I've always had NO IDEA about my periods, they have always been regular, but I don't bother recording them or anything. For some reason I always seem to start when I am at home either in bed or when I first get up in the morning.
My ds is 17 months, so it's hard to remember to do regular, organised stuff everyday - if he's having a bad day, he's soooo demanding.
When I conceived him we were actually USING contraception, oops! However, I was taking agnus castus for a large fibroid (now gone) and dp was taking creatine (the main component in sperm) for weight lifting. I'm sure that's how they overcame the barrier. Grin
So I'll be taking that again from soon and dp is still taking creatine for his boxing gym.
How do you all get a routine going?
How did you get started charting the whole thing?
Is it tricky?
Please help, I'm far tooo tired to actually think. Shock
