Just a quick pop in to see results -jaffa great news on the scan. I am trying to convince DH that he can't drive to scan on Thursday because of lack of parking.

MrsPear · 19/06/2012 18:24

Oh and as my memory is terrible at the mo - who else is having scans?

backward sorry to talk random but doesn't sperm last a while. What i mean is if you dtd then ovulate a day or two later then you can still fall pregnant? Or is that more proof if needed that i should have listened more in biology classes?!

MrsPear · 19/06/2012 18:25

Pixie it is possible. If you can wait a couple more days then if nothing, check. Good luck!

backwardpossom · 19/06/2012 18:29

I think you're right, MrsPear. Hope so anyway!

pixie not crazy at all!

squeakymac · 19/06/2012 18:44

jaffa delighted your scan went well Smile. THere's loads of you around 20 weeks now - a wealth of information and tips for us who are less advanced!

kirrin and farfalla good luck for your scans too - I can't wait til Saturday!

V surreal moment today - was on the phone to a friend who guessed 2 weeks ago that I was pregnant as I looked so awful! and she asked where I would be having 'the baby' - I squeaked it's not a baby yet! and rapidly changed the subject and finished the conversation. Then had to send her an email and apologise that I'm a bit nervy, she doesn't know about previous MC and I didn't feel like getting into it with her so she'll just think I'm a weirdo forever now!

squeakymac · 19/06/2012 18:49

Oh and backward I was away at a course from CD13 to 18, we DTD the morning I left, got EWCM on CD16 and it went on CD17 (didn;t use sticks r anything) and I thought I'd missed the egg but hey presto BFP! so 2 nights might not make a difference if you've put the effort in before and after I think swimmers can hang around for a while Smile

Tiago · 19/06/2012 19:03

Jaffa - I was also at Addenbrookes today! At the clinical investigations ward between about 10:00 and 11:30. Are you in the POPS study?

I have to go back same time next week as the baby is curled into a little ball and refused to wriggle into a better position even when offered chocolate and not even when I had a cold drink. So we still need to check kidneys and spine (though no problems are foreseen).

Baby continues to be fine - all measurements are pretty much at the 50th percentile. I also apparently have the placenta at the front of my uterus, which will be cushioning any kicks.

Thanks to Martha.

icequeenkate · 19/06/2012 19:11

martha so sorry to hear about your friend. Sad

Have been lurking for the last couple of weeks. Been feeling really rough - with morning sickness (which makes me really pleased) but still the upset tummy (which scares me after last time). DH is getting a bit fed up - he views symptoms as a positive sign and therefore everything is fine... so he has booked me an early scan. Tomorrow at 11am. On my own. Am now petrified that there will be nothing there.

Reading about the positive scan experiences has helped, but does little to allay my fears. Think I'm going officially nuts.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 19/06/2012 19:35

Martha so sorry to hear about your wonderful friend, I hope you gain some peace from saying goodbye and the memories you hold dear of her.

Great news about the scan Jaffa Smile

I have my next scan tomorrow whilst at the Maternity clinic, I'll be 18+5, the bleeding has stopped so its really just a check up and my 20 weeks scan is on the 2nd July anyway, do you think it's worth asking if they can tell the sec tomorrow if they go near that area it would it be too cheeky?

I hope everyone else is well :)

wilderumpus · 19/06/2012 19:37

congrats on your scan jaffa and tiago! Fab news.

backward sperm lives for 3-5 days and super sperm will live for a week. DH and I had one random shag and accidentally conceived DS 6 days later according to scan dates. (haven't been able to be so lazy this time round though!)

pixie I can understand where you are coming from. If the fear of a BFN is too much just chill for a couple of days :) fingers crossed for you!

oooh good luck tomorrow ice. the menfolk in general don't seem to quite understand our metalling it seems! Have you gone to the gp about your tummy, doesn't sound right if is always bad? (not necessarily pg related bad, just health bad).

I have had a grand day today. time is going to slowly though! darned 2ww.

leedy · 19/06/2012 19:38

Big hugs to Martha. Fuck cancer.

And yay, great news on the scans Jaffa and Tiago.

wilderumpus · 19/06/2012 19:38

backwardpossom · 19/06/2012 20:04

wilde and others, I really hope so. I'm having one of those it's-so-unfair-I-should-be-pregnant :( nights... I hope I don't have long to wait :(

kirrinIsland · 19/06/2012 20:24

tits I asked the sex at my 16 week scan but the cord was in the way. Hopefully I'll find out tomorrow though - fx! With DD they said at the 16 week scan that she was probably a girl but not to rush out and buy pink stuff!

backward fingers crossed for you...

Irishmammybread · 19/06/2012 20:37

Hi pixie,
just thought I'd share my experience with you(though I don't want to freak you out!) I had MC at the end of March(at 11 wks) and first Af about 4 weeks after it finished. When my next AF was late (1 d) I did a test and got BFN(so had a nice glass of wine with my tea). My Af hadn't arrived by the next week so I tested again and got a faint BFP,well actually several faint BFPs. I rushed out to a late night pharmacy to get a clearblue digital which said pregnant 1-2 weeks since conception. By dates I should have been at least 2-3 weeks but when I saw the GP a few days later she said the tests aren't always accurate and not to worry. Unfortunately I started spotting a few days after that and went on to miscarry again at about 6 weeks.
I've read lots of stories from people who conceived even before their first AF after miscarriage and go on to have successful pregnancies so you certainly could be pregnant and hopefully for you it will be a strong BFP and all will be well . I just worry that as I'm 44 my eggs may be going past their sell by date. We're still thinking about trying again though!
Good luck xx

Moominsarescary · 19/06/2012 20:57

Hello all, picked up keys to new house today so have been madly packing all week, don't know when Internet well be up and running, but will be in touc soon.

Martha so sorry to hear about your friend x

ConfusedMumDotCom · 19/06/2012 21:02

Hi all.

backward can I join you? It sucks that I am not pg when I know I should be.

Anyway, today is CD22. I went to a seminar after work and there were drinks and nibbles afterwards. I had one small Wine and am very tipsy Blush. This is clearly a sign that I am a light weight pregnant! Grin

I hope I am pg, but had an overwhelming sense of it not happening this month today, so feel a bit Sad.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

JaffaSnaffle · 19/06/2012 23:03

tiago, I was in from about 1.30 until 3, so our paths would not quite have crossed, but still! I'm not on POPs this time, but I was with DD, and it was a good experience. I liked the later scans, especially the 28 week one. 36 weeks felt a bit sneaky peeky, especially given DD was born 2 weeks later! I keep wondering if the new building actually will be finished by late summer. Have you thought about whether you would like hospital or home birth yet? I feel a bit jinxy about it still, but if all carries on as it should, I would like to go back to the midwife led unit there. Glad you had a good scan though, and that you have explanation for not feeling kicks yet. X

buggerlugs how far along do you think you should be? i had an early scan at 5+6/4 (give or take two days) and that was all they could see for me too. I went back two weeks later and they found a heartbeat. FX

thank you for all your beautiful messages of support (including the words fuck, hairy balls and cunt Wink)

tits this line from you sums it up perfectly 'I hope you gain some peace from saying goodbye and the memories you hold dear of her'

i do indeed, so thank you Thanks

wilderumpus · 20/06/2012 09:35

oh bugger I hope you got some sleep. How far along are you meant to be? I know exactly how you feel as I had my scan at 6+6 and they could only see an empty sac, but at that early stage it could be that the baby was simply too small (I knew it was fucked though)... was sent away for 10 days and it was just awful being in that limbo - I really feel for you. Please look after yourself and remember is more likely to be ok than not, statistically! My baby might not have made it but MARTHA'S DID! :) xx

good luck moving house moomin, lovely day for it (oop north).

thanks for the butty martha

confused I am cd 27 (6dpo) and have been a total lightweight too and secretly hoped it was because I am pg! hehe :)

Have learnt all my early 'symptoms' (headfuckery) is due to progesterone. must be very sensitive to it or soemthing, straight after I ov I get sore boobs, bit sicky, tired, wee lots and crampy! so obvs think am pg every month but know now I am not until, well, I am!

take care peeps. feel like there is a need for a big session down t'pub for us all to vent and feel frivolous and lighthearted again. so here, let's be students Wine! x

wilderumpus · 20/06/2012 09:41

sounds good then bugger, really it does x
