Due on today and done a Clearblue test. It was BFN. My friend recently did 2-3 CB tests which were negative even after a week without her period. She did a digital one and its positive. Shall I try a different test or just wait some more?

How regular are you?
Wait till tomorrow and test again with your first wee of the day.

Splinters · 18/05/2012 15:56

Have absolutely nothing useful to suggest, just wanted company.. Also I like guinea pigs VERY MUCH and am therefore v attracted to you OP.

I have been waiting for my period to turn up for twelve days now, with three bfns. We were on holiday in the middle of nowhere so I didn't get round to testing until I was six days late, and since then nothing has come of nothing has come of nothing. I feel pretty much like normal and would rather just have a period now so I can get back to trying again. Would any soothsayers like to tell me what's going on?

Apols for hijack. Good luck OP, and tell us what happens next!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 18/05/2012 16:07

mrsbugsywugsy - I have had irregular periods since I started aged 15 except the last 4 months where I have been 28-30 days. Today would be 28 days so potentially it is just a longer cycle? It doesn't help that al the early pregnancy symptoms I get are also identical to my pre-menstrual symptoms.

Splinters, let us know when you have some news. Which HPTs did you use? First baby? I am TTC no.3 and am v. impatient!!

OP posts:
Splinters · 18/05/2012 16:16

Pigs -- yeah, it's number one (or will be, it ain't anything at the moment), and I am much much more impatient than anyone else in the world!

I've been using the Boots own brand ones which cost sth ridiculous like £4.50 for one or £5.20 for two, so I've still got one in the box at home. But I'm resisting it, because I've already tested at 6 days, 7 days and 9 days late, and nothing, so what's the point? Am wearing white underwear today to try to tempt my period to start out of spite. No luck with that either so far..

Vizzini · 18/05/2012 16:35

Hello .
Four days late here (was due Monday) and I got a BFN yesterday. I'm not testing again. I'm usually very regular so it's confusing. I know I'm not pregnant so I wish my period would turn up so we can try for DC#2.

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 18/05/2012 17:28

Like the underwear idea Splinters, might try that myself (though still hoping that I might be pg despite the BFN!). Might treat myself to a bottle glass of wine tonight as commiseration. It's so tempting to keep buying tests and use them (though what I think its going to do I have no idea - after all one is either pg or not). That being said, Clear Blue digital are only £8 for 2 at Morrisons ATM so have stocked up for future moments of early testing stupidity.

Good luck to both of you. Keep us posted :)

mrsbugsywugsy · 18/05/2012 17:30

Pigs if your longest cycle is normally 30 days then I guess you could wait till Monday and test then. If you can hold out that long!

Splinters · 19/05/2012 11:37

I think I've decided that period is not coming, ever, and that I'm not pregnant either, but halfway through the next cycle already. This may just be a ruse to keep myself sane -- have to see how long I can hold out on that thought, because I seem to change my mind about everything all the time!

NarcolepsyQueen · 19/05/2012 11:45

Hi ladies. Just to say that AF was due on a Fri, and I didn't get a BFP until 11 days later!

Fiwee78 · 19/05/2012 12:44

Hi I'm new to this but going round the twist with negative tests and thought id seek some real advice! My cycle normally between 29 - 32 days so find it hard to pin point exactly when I should test. 32 days is 2row but clearblue test negative today!! Been having spotting for 9 days until yesterday boobs are a little sore but no more symptoms!!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 19/05/2012 19:43

Gosh NarcolepsyQueen 11 days, I'll be bankrupt by then!! My friend told me that Asda have HPTs for £1 so that might be the way forward. I decided to wait until Monday but caved in this morning. Still a BFN (though it tricked me, I got a cross first and then I checked it at the 3 minute mark and it had gone Confused ) Will NOT test tmrw. I normally have super strong willpower but for some reason when it comes to this I have absolutely no resolve.

Think I will just start trying again regardless of period (or lack of). Fiwee and Splinters how long have you been TTC?

OP posts:
Splinters · 20/05/2012 11:15

Well if you want to get things moving I can highly recommend posting that your period is not coming and you're halfway through the cycle already. Because lo, here it is.. And since I had 3bfns and no symptoms at all, I'm ok with that (obv it would have been nice to have been halfway through a cycle by now, but still).

I'd love an explanation of what's been going on in my body every day of the last six weeks, though I suspect it has something to do with my messing around with my pill in a way that I now regret. I was out if the country for work and dh was at home on his own for the first three months of the year, and as we'd been talking about ttc when I got back, I stopped taking the pill while I was away. Had been on Cerazette for 6 years with hardly any periods at all. But both times I came home (for a weekend in March and then for good last month) I took about a week's worth of pills because it didn't seem ideal to have anything to happen straight away. Amazing what a good job school does of convincing you that if you make one false move you'll be pregnant before you can blink!

And now of course I do want to be pregnant, and I want it to happen immediately, and I'm worried I've messed up my cycles forever and doomed myself to years of never getting pg and never knowing what the hell's going on..

Am appreciating your company. How are you all getting on? Hi, Fiwee! I myself am not in a position to give any advice about anything mostly here to vent but welcome! Pigs, how are you getting on?

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 20/05/2012 16:57

Still nothing from this end (well any end quite frankly!) Keep feeling like I might be coming on but not happened yet. Managed not to do a test this morning. May not be able to resist in the morning if nothing has happened by then.

Splinters are you doing anything to monitor your cycle? I'm not , but considering it - if only to stop the frantic uninformed monitoring I do on a daily basis, wondering if I'm ovulating etc.

Didn't have any of this last time. DS was an accident and DD happened immediately, hence the impatience.

Fiwee have you stopped spotting yet? Could it be am implantation bleed (i know its a little long for that but ??) Or you could be pg and it be light period due to hormones? Are you going to do another test?

Splinters you're right, the company is good. My OH doesn't really get the impatience, but then he's very much enjoying the process Grin!

WeatherWitch · 20/05/2012 17:18

Not sure I have much useful to add either, but just needed the company of people who might not think I'm insane for obsessing over breast tenderness, cervical position, mucus (tmi?), the slightest twinge from the abdominal region etc etc etc... Splinters, whenever I've been working overseas it's messed my cycles up to some degree - could it be that rather than random pill-taking?

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 20/05/2012 18:47

WeatherWitch I don't think talking cervical mucus is tmi but then I'm not really the squeamish-type. Are you TTC DC#1?

OP posts:
WeatherWitch · 20/05/2012 19:21

Yes, we've technically been ttc for 14 months now - but we're both military, so the actual number of times DH and I and ovulation have been in the same place at the same time is about 4! But after some dedicated efforts in that direction last week, I'm sitting here with v tender and swollen breasts and mild cramps and being alternately tearful and snappy, and I never normally get PMT. Testing Thurs. Or maybe Wed. Or Tues. Or perhaps tomorrow... ;)

KFFOREVER · 20/05/2012 20:46

Hi ladies. TTC is driving me a little crazy. Had spotting on 7th May was due period on 10th May. Since friday I have had lower back aches and stomach cramps. Also, I have sore nipples and have a funny taste in my mouth. BUT I tested negative today. So confused. Good luck all with ttc.

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 20/05/2012 21:32

KFFOREVER Don't give up hope yet - my friend did about 8 HPTs over 10 days and only got 2 faint lines! Eventually after 10 days and lots of feeling confused she bought a digital HPT and got a +ve.

I feel your pain Witch, it's really hard not to test all the time isn't it?! How long since you ovulated? Fingers crossed for you, must be hard to TTC without being in each others near vicinity. I think I might do a test in the morning, but I only have a didgital HPT in the house and I don't want to 'waste' it, thinking I might get some from ASDA (£1 atm!) and test on Tuesday. Quite what I'm going to do with the digital one I don't know!! What do you think?

To test or not to test, that is the question....

Haha, isn't this board all about mucus in one form or another? Certainly not the place for anyone with tmi-related scruples IMO! In answer to your q, Pigs, I haven't been doing any kind of monitoring other than noticing CM. We've only been trying since mid-April, and it's so supposed to be happening in an incredibly relaxed JS kind of way.

WeatherWitch, you could very well be right about being abroad messing with my cycles (it was a pretty hardcore three months as well) but the problem is, almost all the trips I've been on like that have been during the 6 1/2 years I was taking the pill, so I have nothing to compare it with and, tbh, not all that clear a memory of what my cycles were like before. Though I definitely had much heavier and more painful periods. Then I went on Cerazette and only had occasional spotting, which suited me supremely well, UNTIL NOW!

Now I want my old, pre-pill cycle back! QTP, sounds like just the experience I've had this cycle -- except the 'period' I'm now finally having is a bit of a joke too. Heavier than spotting, but hardly heavy enough to seem like a real period. Maybe I've buggered my body up for good!

WW KFF and Pigs, we await further updates!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 21/05/2012 12:46

So... I couldn't resist doing another test this morning. Wished I hadn't. BFN = Sad and Confused! Going to leave it for a few days now to see what happens. I should really know better - I tested too early with my DD and got a BFN only to have a BFP a couple of weeks later!

Splinters We are supposed to be a doing a relaxed JS-type go at TTC. I fear that I am not the relax-and-see-what-happens-type! Once I've made up my OHs mind I want to be pg right NOW!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 21/05/2012 13:38

I've just snorted at a ClearBlue digital advert on TV. Things have got BAD!Grin

OP posts:
WeatherWitch · 21/05/2012 15:26

Splinters, you sound v similar to me - I came off the pill (Cilest) after 16 years, dreading the 8 days of agony and massive heavy bleeding that my very irregular periods used to be (hence why I'd been on the pill for so long) only to find they were now on a regular 30-31 day cycle, painless, lasted 3 days and disconcertingly light even on the heaviest day. Some of my friends tell me this is actually normal and you shouldn't be written off for 5 days per month, so maybe things just improve with age (I'm 35). Or maybe we're all buggered :(

GuineaPigs, I ovulated either 9th or 12th - both days had what could be construed as positive results on the opk, but we were SWI every night 9th-13th (and twice on the 11th!) just in case. Have a 2 pack of ClearBlue digital awaiting me but they're £12 at Waitrose so I don't want to waste them. And also scared of testing too early, telling my boss (we are automatically medically downgraded in my job as soon as pregnancy is "diagnosed"(!) - no waiting till the 12 week point to tell anyone) then having a chemical or early mc which everyone will then have to know about too...

Yes, I'm definitely of the "if anything can go wrong I'll obsess about the possibility of it endlessly, no matter how remote the chances" mentality!

Splinters · 21/05/2012 17:34

WW, keep talking please, I'm finding you reassuring. Someone on another thread wrote sth the other day about the lining of the uterus apparently only growing thick enough to support a pregnancy during about 75% of cycles, which I immediately interpreted to mean that light periods (esp. if unexpectedly light like mine) couldn't possibly be a good sign. Disconcerting is the word! I'm willing you a bfp -- a baby for you and a good omen for me!

I'm enjoying this little thread -- lots of the ttc ones are so busy you just get lost.

WeatherWitch · 21/05/2012 18:38

Isn't the internet great - you can fuel any obsession/paranoia so easily! Just googled "uterus lining pregnancy" and discovered that it can cause problems for implantation if it's too thick. So we're clearly fine with our light periods :) Not reading any more websites now I've found an answer that I like!

Oh damn, I'm burning the dinner... Less internet, more cooking!
