She is so happy as had written off her chances of becoming a Mum after not meeting the love of her life til 43. I am just chuffed for them all :-)

Yay! Congratulations to her. That has cheered me up on this rainy morning.

stubbornstains · 01/05/2012 08:40

Yay! (wells up). That gives me so much hope, as I am 38, would love to have a second child, and have never met the love of my life (or anything close). I have a friend who had daughters at 43 and 45 ...

Congratulations your friend! Grin

Awesome! I had my first baby at 41, and 18 months on I'm trying for a second - at this rate I'll be nearly 44 by the time it happens!! I love being a mum after working etc. Older, wiser, happier!!
xx

Southsearocks · 02/05/2012 20:30

What a lovely thread ! Hope you show it to her Smile I'm also trying for number two at 41. Was going to stop trying at 42 but now I feel inspired!

bugoven · 02/05/2012 20:56

So good to hear Smile

Danceswithdragons · 02/05/2012 21:27

Congratulations!
Don't give up hope - I had my first DC at 39 and second at 44, so there is hope for the over 40s; it just takes a little longer..

iloveberries · 03/05/2012 12:53

i could sob with happiness for her
congratulations!!

clickingtock · 03/05/2012 12:59

Such lovely news! I have a wonderful friend who conceived her first at 44 and gave birth at 45. Her child is utterly adorable.

Southsea - wishing you all the best and don't give up. I have just had a BFP for DC2 (fx for a sticky) at 40.5... It took ages but that's another story and I won't bore you. xxx

OvenReady · 03/05/2012 19:46

I'm not sure when I'm going to stop trying...! After breastfeeding my son for a year my body has finally, after six months, seemed to have settled back into normal cycles so I'm hoping within the next few months I'll get a BFP! I'll be 43 in September, but I'm not going to stop yet...

My son is the best thing that ever 'happened' to me - I'm a young-at-heart over 40, with lots of love to give. Hell - I'd have a house FULL of kids if I had more time!!!

Ladies - don't give up yet! Wink
xxx

Hear hear Ovenready (just don't tell my DP as he wants to stop at DC2). X

tightwad · 04/05/2012 16:01

awwww Smile but Sad at the same time.

for me at 41 ive had to face the facts, so i could easily be swayed by your stories, but cant.

That is lovely news. I had my boys at 36 and 38 and always hankered after a third, sort of decided when it hadn't happened by 40 that it was never going to and gave up the idea. Too old now, but still have a little thought from time to time wd like to have had another:) I wish your friend every happiness!

duchesse · 04/05/2012 16:19

A GP friend has two pregnant 47 year old patients at the moment. Must be something in the water. My DH's grandmother had her own two children at 41 and 42 back in the late 1920s- she didn't get married till 40 so probably didn't expect much. The older child was my DH's father. DH was born when his father was 41. Our DD3 was born when DH was 41. Which means that DD3 (now 2.8) has a grandfather born in 1926 (sadly long dead)- not all that common I'd imagine.
