She is so happy as had written off her chances of becoming a Mum after not meeting the love of her life til 43. I am just chuffed for them all :-)

Great story! My Granddad was 41 when my DM was born. My gran was 21 giving birth and so was my DM (actually on her 21st birthday!). I will be 41 (fx) when I next give birth. All strangely synchronistic eh?

I've been doing my family tree and amazed at how late people had babies before any medical intervention. Several of my GG grandmas started at 18 and then had a baby every 2 years until 46/47. This was all in the late 19th C so no medical help.... mind you my aunties have warned me that late menopause runs in the family so I should be careful....!

Or not so careful...! Grin Grin Yeah, we're making a big fuss about it in our media etc but it's hardly news that babies are born to people are in their 40s.

GrinGrin and I'd better keep taking the pills.
My DDs refuse to share their rooms and state any babies will have to sleep in the bath.

My DF had a baby last year a week before her 43 birthday.

She too didn't marry till her late 30's having had a bad time with depression.

I was so scared that having waited until she could cope properly it would be to late.

clickingtock · 04/05/2012 17:27

Grin at your DDs. Better keep up those pills!

I think that for some people it's easier to cope when they are older as they are also a bit wiser and more settled. (Blatantly talking about herself!) I didn't get together with the right fella until 37 (although annoyingly we had known each other from school!) We are incredibly lucky to have a DS and a (currently v small) bun in the oven.

Yes, I met DH as a student and it just clicked.
His Mum didn't didn't marry until her very late 30's and he and DSIL were born either side of her 40th. Birthday.
