Thought I would take the plunge and start the June thread! I won't be getting my May BFP as my cycles are sooooooo long. Who's. With me?

True! You've reminded me that I used to think 4 years would be the ideal gap - plenty of time to enjoy each.

morecoffeemorecoffee · 17/05/2012 21:23

Hi dreamy and bean! I have a small gap between dc1 and dc2 but been ttc this one for 17 months. My youngest has just turned 4 so will prob be 5 when/if we have dc3.

You have definitely not missed the boat.

LittleMissSnowShine · 17/05/2012 21:27

Having just spent the last 24 hours with a toddler with a tummy bug i can see def advantages to there being a gap between #1 and #2!! But if things work out we'll have 2.5 years so hopefully that'll be perfect(ish)...apart from the childcare fees of course ouch ouch ouch

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 17/05/2012 21:38

Hi bean & dreamy, you have not missed the boat at all. Think nature intended a 4/5 year gap (bf tends to prevent pregnancy and thousands of years ago everyone would have bf till about 4 years old).

This week I have been wondering if ttc is a good idea. Dd has always been a poor sleeper but has been v challenging absolute nightmare this week. We should be doing the winkle tonight but both too shattered.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 17/05/2012 21:40

littlemiss

I normally have good skin but had the worst spots ever when pregnant. Was covered in spots and at least 4 angry boils on my face for 6 months.

At least it was only during pregnancy.

icequeenkate · 17/05/2012 21:42

Agree with Ted. I have 21 months between ds1&2, then 4 yrs between ds2&3! It's been like having a first child all over again - as wise people have said (can't name check them as on phone and can't scroll Angry) it gives you time to spend with the baby.

Now of course, I would like %234 to keep ds3 company so he has the fab brotherly relationship the older two have.

All this from an only child who swore she'd never have kids...

Testing tomorrow - or Saturday if I can hold off that long Wink

Good luck ladies.

winkle2 · 17/05/2012 22:02

Welcome bean and dreamy!

bean612 · 17/05/2012 22:20

Thanks! God, it feels like ages since the last time I got obsessed about making a baby (well I suppose it was - over 4 years ago now). It has suddenly come whooshing back just how nail-biting the whole thing is. And how when you think you might be pregnant, the 10 days-2 weeks you have to wait to test feels like an eternity...

winkle2 · 17/05/2012 23:10

How long did it take to conceive your first, Bean?

bean612 · 17/05/2012 23:58

About 10 months. BUT it was very random indeed. I had no idea of my cycles (had had very irregular periods all my life) so we just DTD when we felt like it with no idea of whether I might be fertile or not (and I don't think that was massively often, if the truth be told). After 9-10 months I was starting to think maybe we should be a bit more organised about this and I had just been reading about EWCM when bingo - one day it was very obvious that I was ovulating. I told DH we had to get down to it and conceived right then and there. I am very aware, though, that we got very lucky with that, especially considering my PCOS, so feel as though we couldn't possibly get so lucky this time (especially since this time I'm very aware of the age gap with DD1 widening with every month). Plus I am 4 years older, etc etc.

Morning all. Just checking in early while I have my morning brew! So will it be Friday night shag night for everyone tonight? Grin

redstrawberry · 18/05/2012 08:01

morning morecoffeeNo more SWI planned for me as we are past OV but def just some good ol shagging Grin

hi bean dreamy and icequeen good luck with testing. For what its worth my sister and I have a 5 year gap - less rivalry more bonding.

LittleMissSnowShine · 18/05/2012 08:07

Yay morecoffee, cheerio nightshifts! Thats cause for celebration, might as well enjoy sleeping at night time as long as u possibly can before the night feeds, colic, wind, leaking nappy at 3am ;) ((i'm selling this well!))

yes fri night shag fest in full effect over here...so excited to hav hav heating & hot water again woo hoo!!

LittleMissSnowShine · 18/05/2012 08:08

Also...off to the GP today....

Pinkie29 · 18/05/2012 08:39

Shagging on the cards here too Grin

wilderumpus · 18/05/2012 09:15

morning ladies! nearly got my BFN this morning... a ghostly ghost of a line so should be proper neg on Sun which I am excited about :)

yay for friday night shagfest! I want to drink a LOT of wine tonight so I shall, seeing as I am in the wtf month and can neither seriously symptom spot, think I have ov'ed or that I will ov at all... may as well live a little. DH and i have been under a lot of strain of late and a big glass of wine (and a cheers to our new kitten) is well in order. Then a shag :)

DS would be between 3 and 3.6 when the newbie makes an arrival assuming it takes a few months... I think this is a nice gap for me as I have let go of DS's babyhood (as he bounces off the roof) and am all ready for a new one :) he is a terrible sleeper too.

good luck for testing ice! and the GP little

I am soft play bound... Wish me luck!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 18/05/2012 09:30

Good luck to the testers.

And best of luck at the GP littlemiss

Will be dtd tonight.

winkle2 · 18/05/2012 12:07

No drinking but will be shagging tonight!

I think a larger age gap is nicer as the older child understands what a brother or sister is and theres less rivalry. I'd want an older age gap but not sure if time is on my side. I'm 33.

winkle2 · 18/05/2012 12:08

Good luck at gp littlemiss :)

morecoffeemorecoffee · 18/05/2012 12:42

Good luck for testing icequeen!

I have begun to wonder if I had a very early ov on CD7.... Can it happen that early?

I had bucket loads of clear cm with tiny bit of pink mixed in on CD5 & CD6, I thought it was the end of AF still, or something to do with dropping the pills, which I did on CD5. That kind of thing has never really happened before. Cm seems to have dried up since then, but surely it should start increasing now as I should be nearing my usual ov time on CD10 (today is in fact CD11, and no sign of ov).

Any experiences on very early OVs ladies? Could it have been? Well, if so -lucky we did DTD on CD7, and I could now be 4 DPO Grin

AmayaBuzzbee · 18/05/2012 12:46

I should have added that I started testing for OV on CD8, so if it did happen on CD7, I would have missed it.

And -good luck at GP littlemiss!

tedmundo · 18/05/2012 13:02

Yay morecoffee .. Welcome to the SAHM club. No more night shifts for you.. Woohoo.

Enjoy your Friday night frolics ladies. I am off the beat with you all as DTD last night. But actually feeling a bit cheeky today so perhaps will squeeze an extra one in! I am feeling oddly optimistic today, like this may well be our month... Who knows?

Good luck at the GP littlemiss and good luck with POAS icequeen. It is strangely addictive isn't it?

amaya I get the impression with OV that anything goes so perhaps it was OV you experienced. I am quite regular with cycles so don't really have quirky patterns like that, but you never know!

wilde jealous of the kitten. My gorgeous puss is 5 now and the size of a lion cub. Is it a breed or a lovely moggie?

winkle2 · 18/05/2012 13:12

I'm feeling positive this month too :)

dreamydays · 18/05/2012 13:14

Hello all. Good luck at GP littlemiss and with testing icequeen.

glad consensus is that a bigger gap in age isn't a bad thing. I certainly feel I could handle a second one now whereas when DD was one or two I would have struggled to enjoy it to the full (any formula for conceiving a laid-back child??).

Dh away until tomorrow so tedmundo we'll join your beat after that!
