Thought I would take the plunge and start the June thread! I won't be getting my May BFP as my cycles are sooooooo long. Who's. With me?

OP posts:
redstrawberry · 14/05/2012 17:31

ermmmm over-reacting much! The people on the thread are either a. living in a weird bubble or b. dont have a life! Ofcourse we all love a tipple or two or more. Don't take them to heart winkle. Hubs (I hate DH too - makes me sound like my m-i-l) and I love our beer and wine for breakfast, lunch and dinner ;)

Touche kicking and RIBS - There is no such thing as PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS....ahhh! that felt good I can now stop analyzing every cramp from trapped wind or crappy takeaway food! Grin

Pinkie29 · 14/05/2012 18:48

I've been told at my scan for possibly ov cysts that eod during your fertile period is enough as sperm lives for up to 5 days so there will always be a good supply waiting to meet the egg which live 12 - 24 max!

Think dtd ed isn't great for his swimmers doesn't give them much chance to recuperate Grin

mrsmellow · 14/05/2012 19:01

RIBS I too am in a state of bewilderment about this whole thing (she said Wine in hand).... if I hadn't had a scan this morning telling me there was a big follicle and ovulation is somewhere around now, I'd just start POAS after about 45 days (longest cycle to date was 45!).. ridiculous state of affairs!

jaquelinehyde · 14/05/2012 19:08

Evening ladies, how are we all?

It's been a busy few days here with DD1's birthday and I took my driving theory test on Saturday (I passed YAY) Unfortunately I've been really ill since last night and haven't been able to travel far from the bathroom Sad

However, I am now on CD3 and AF looks to be easing off a bit so hopefully the sickness and af will go at the same time and then dh and I can get down to dtd as much as we can.

Man I hope someone else joins I don't want to be last to test though with my cycle length it's highly possible lol!

squeakymac · 14/05/2012 23:15

Just to say winkle just had a look at the thread you mentioned re your DH and the dreaded booze - agree with the others that some people are not living in the real world +/- have way too much time on their hands! My DH works way too hard, drinks too much when he has a rare weekend off (which I can't begrudge him!) and cycles and goes to spin classes to destress. TTC is important but we can't let it completely take their lives as well as ours - if your DH has cut back even in the face of TTC stress and deadlines in work he's not doing too badly I reckon Smile

LittleMissSnowShine · 14/05/2012 23:30

evening ladies - just been out for a girly movie night, since AF is still in town can't be dtd anyway so thought might as well enjoy Wink

see we're all symptom spotting here this evening!! really really really hope some of these mysteriously long cycles and odd cramping add up to some bonafide BFPS this month!!!

winkle - don't know what to say except AIBU is a pretty mental board on here! i can understand how frustrated u must feel at times tho, when ttc is taking a while and u are temping, monitoring CM, taking folic acid, charting, injecting yourself full of strange lube etc., it feels like the least your DH could do is curtail the evening beers. But of course he feels like he might as well enjoy his evening beers while he can before he's walking the floors with a crying baby in the hopefully v near future. FWIW, YANBU Wink Boys will be boys but they just don't understand how much we emotionally, physically, mentally, completely invest in ttc, being pregnant, giving birth, taking care of babies....

redstrawberry · 15/05/2012 09:04

Morning all - feeling slightly cheerful on a sunny day.

Had a long chat with hubs over breakkie. We are both not getting hopeful over a BFP this month. 3dpo today and awaiting AF arrival next Sat. But I guess its making me less stressed by preparing for a BFN. Reverse Psychology maybe...Besides we won't be DTD this week as he's away now and back on Fri.

How are we all doing this morning? Kettles on Brew anyone?

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 09:19

I am now 15 dpo - this is third day late. AF should have arrived on Sunday. Still on the June thread because I haven't had a positive yet.

DH and I squinted, lit up, put-Clear Blue test-at-this-angle and potentially saw a shadow ghostly white line last night.

But sure the tests shouldn't be looked at that closely?! :D

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 15/05/2012 09:25

Sorry kicking up but I don't think you are meant to look at them that closely.

Have a look here . I was looking at this website last night, the false positive info is really interesting.

Sorry to not be more supportive. Sad

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 09:34

Naw neither DH nor I took the "line" last night as a positive.

The only thing is that I thought I implanted on Saturday - and it potentially (if all goes well) takes a minimum of 5 days for hcg to show up in your urine sample. So if nothing on Thursday, will pop to the doctors and make sure I ovulated and that everything is ok.

I am on the fence with this now. AF can still arrive today. Or it may not :D

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/05/2012 09:49

redstrawberry - yes, kettle on, no coffee tho Sad green tea and manuka honey this morning! At least the sun is out Grin And I finish work at half 12 today so will be out and about this afternoon wth DS getting some rays!

WhenSheWasBad - I love that website! There's another good one which has data collected and turned into graphs all about how many women get BFNs on 8 DPO, 9 DPO, 10 DPO, 11 DPO etc. and then turn out to be preggers. Essential reading for the ttc gang!!

KickingUp: When you wee on those blue dye tests it's not unusual to see a white line unfortunately, loads of websites seem to far prefer using pink dye texts, such as First Response and I think the superdrug ones are pink dye too? They're supposed to give you a clearer, less ambiguous result ... fx for you, hope AF stays away!!

lou143 · 15/05/2012 10:24

Ok if i join you all? x

redstrawberry · 15/05/2012 10:28

kicking it must be torture to be on the fence. Hope you find out for sure by Thursday and I do hope the result is what you wished for.

Hippie teas for me too - I am starting to like the Twinings herbal and Pukka teas...but still not a great substitute for coffee :(

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 10:28

Yep - just read it on pleonastic - it's the evap line! FINALLY understand what that means. That website also cleared up our chemical pregnancy in December. We both understand what happened.

It also said that typically, one can implant 8 - 10 DPO (most common) - up to 12 days DPO (common) and after but less common. By my reckoning, I started to implant on Friday. OV can take up to three days. Three days to fertilise the egg etc etc. Anyway...

Implant could have occurred on Saturday - 11 DPO. 3 - 5 days after that to pick up small levels of hcg.

Minimum time to test for a positive would be today.

So will either come on first
Or will know by Thursday

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/05/2012 10:57

welcome lou!

redstrawberry - getting to be a big fan of those Yogi teas u can get in Holland&Barrett... ((want coffee!!))

RIBS · 15/05/2012 13:07

Do you know, when you read some of the other threads and the comments that are put on there, which are judgemental and some downright bitchy, it makes you wonder why people come on these site's. But the TTC threads ive been on for the last 3 months have all had lovely people. Even if ive not had time to post, ive been trying to get on, just to see how everyones doing.
So thank you all lovely ladies for being so nice and supportive. >

kicking, im still in the same boat too, af due sat, still bugger all. last lp was 18 days, so im hoping the old witch will get me tomorrow. I didnt know anyone could have lp that long! I would like to think the longer it goes on the more chance of being bfp, but I thought that last month. I dont feel pg, othr than bloated, but that could be what ive just shovelled down of af imminent arrival. How do you know you implanted?? Just a feeling or BBT inc?

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 13:18

I had cramps and a spot of spotting... :D

My cycles vary between 26 - 28 days. I have been 2 days early once this year but never late. i work on a 28 day cycle and have (correctly) predicted due dates for years. Have no idea how long my luteal phase is but since I am never late, I've never noticed really,

I am not that good with OPK's either but had EWCM and ovulation spotting on the 1 May an also had OV spotting last month. Apparently that is a sign of fertiity.

I am starting to doubt though. I don't want to tell DH though because he gets more convinced the longer I am delayed. He also knows that I am never late. The only time I was late was when we may have had a chem pg in December...

RIBS · 15/05/2012 13:37

It does your head in doesnt it.
Ive been temping as well. My temps are high still. SO I cant see af arriving anytime soon. But as my temp didnt increase by a huge amount when i thought id ov'd (by + ov test and cm) Im thinking I may not have ov'd then but later in my cycle.

I wouldnt mind but this is my 2nd proper cycle of clomid (3 attempts actually but got half way thru 1st cycle and had a "spontanteous bleed" FFS!! I think its less than useless. Hoping gynae will ring me this week and increase my dose, cos it clearly isnt working.

My bff is 10 wks pg, and she looks and feels like death warmed up. I cant wait to be in her sad and sorry state!!

mrsmellow · 15/05/2012 14:05

RIBS have they scanned you on Clomid? that was what I was offered here to see if I was ovulating in order to get the correct dose? The plan is/was to do 50mg with scan, if nothing then 100mg with scan, if nothing 150mg with scan. Realise now there was no mention of what to do if nothing on 150mg Hmm
And do we know how accurate OPK's are in PCOS- I've heard it is better not to use them - but I don't know if that includes when you're on Clomid? Confused
So, all you herbal tea drinkers - are you not having any caffeine?

I thought the evidence was only for a problem with large amounts of caffeine (hence my one cup a day).

mrsmellow · 15/05/2012 14:09

just did some very rapid research (disclaimer have not read the papers in full yet)
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22407137 - This looks like soda is more likely to affect your fertility than coffee.. and tea was associated with increased fecundability (which according to the dictionary means fertility - bloody scientists and their big words.. Hmm )
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20662712 - This one says smoking bad, very poor evidence for other things including alcohol and coffee.
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20558227 This one also doesn't find enough evidence.

Having said that, my previous research suggested that high doses of caffeine (something like 4 espressos) is weakly associated with an increase in birth malformations - hence my one cup a day.

mrsmellow · 15/05/2012 14:11

ooh -and this one looks specifically at couples struggling to get pregnant to see if they're more affected than the total population
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19279491
they don't seem to be.

I'm feeling very defensive about my one cup a day clearly Grin !! Brew Brew Wine Wine

RIBS · 15/05/2012 14:20

No, ive just had blood tests to see my hormone levels.

No mention of any scans. How long can they keep you on the stuff mrs, I dont think they can have it for months on end?

Ive had cm and usually followed by BBT spike at the same time as the ov stick so ive always found them ok for me. I think, in my case, its just polycystic ovaries and not the syndrome. I think theres a difference, something to do with insulin and stuff I think.

KickingUpQuestions · 15/05/2012 14:23

Yep - my gynae said you can have PCOS and not have the cysts. I may be wrong but just having PCOS isn't the issue. It's the cysts that cause the problems.

She said there won't be any issues to conceive if you just have PCOS.
