Right I'm going to be bold and start a new thread to drum up some energy for anyone ttc a Jan / Feb / Spring 2013 baby.

Does anyone want to join me on this flight?

OP posts:
LimeLeafLizard · 14/05/2012 20:10

PS wiggy fab news about the letter from the hospital.

OP posts:
Wiggy29 · 14/05/2012 20:39

Thanks for the good wishes folks. Dead chuffed!

Lime- it was £65- www.amazon.co.uk/Clearblue-81104584-Fertility-Monitor/dp/B0012PB8EO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1337023900&sr=8-1

I bought these to go with it (hence £85 total spend)- www.amazon.co.uk/Clearblue-Fertility-Monitor-Test-Sticks/dp/B0012PFG0Q/ref=pd_sim_d_1

Hope links okay as first time I've tried to link on here. I decided on this as:

  1. Can't poas twice a day due to work so first wee of morning (with 6 hour window much easier for me)
  1. Can't be faffed with temping
  1. Tests 2 hormones so surely that's better? (Or perhaps I'm just easily swayed by advertising guff)
  1. AND THE BEST ONE- my friend tried for over two years (husband has low sperm count) and within a couple of months of using this she was pregnant with DD

To me, thought this was worth the money but, as I said, we feel a bit time pressured at this end and of it weren't for the horrible cervical cancer mess hanging over me we'd be a lot more relaxed about ttc.

PS- I don't have pregnancy as an excuse but I can't stop eating either! I'd like to think it's because I've been hammering the gym/ am due AF but actually think it's pure greed! Anyway, off for a bath, a Brew and a Biscuit or seven!

Wiggy29 · 14/05/2012 20:46

Silent- can I do that? Would defo piajj (short for pee in a jam jar Grin rather than dance around the classroom all morning trying not to wee! Can you save your wee like that or do all the good hormones evaporate off into the atmosphere??? I would defo prefer the piajj method as AF might not even arrive tomorrow so may be uncomfortable all morning for no reason.

SpringFlowers · 14/05/2012 21:13

You have all been very busy posting today. I'm a deputy Headteacher and mumsnet is banned on our system so I can only post on my phone (like I have time!). I am in the south east too. I was on a thread of ladies who were ttc after mc when I conceived last time and we have met up in real life. They are lovely ladies and have become great friends. Now, who was working for which accountancy firm? I have connections in one of the 'big four'!

lastboxoftampons · 14/05/2012 21:54

Hello all! You've been chatty! I think I started to post yesterday but was interrupted by DS.

Empire congratulations! Grin best wishes for your pregnancy.

Wiggy I've been thinking about the cbfm as well, hmm. Think I can get one second hand on eBay though slightly worried about someone else's pee splashing on it...or do you pee on a stick and then insert stick into monitor? I don't seem to get positives on opks so they seem a total waste of money. Great news about your letter.

I've only just returned to work - today was actually my first day at my first job since having DS but it's in line with what "I do" - ie pr and marketing for dance companies, theatres, etc. I used to work for a big ballet company in NY which was way sexier than anything I've done since. We're in SE London. So treats you've moved to the burbs, huh? Grin if we weren't trying to move back to the US, we'd consider it, as the school situation is really starting to worry me.

SilentMammoth · 14/05/2012 21:56

Wigs, I'm not sure about good hormones evaping (though love the image, like a revolting cup of tea) but when we were pg with dd2 we were staying at PILS at obv didn't have a hpt there. So I piarmceb (Peed In A Rather Middle Class Evian Bottle) and dipped test in there ('twas the first time I'd used a CB digi c. 2006). FIL walked in at precisely that point. Luckily he's in cloud cuckoo land in a vicarish daze most of the time and clearly didn't have a clue. Sorry, bit of a tangent. The idea of holding in FMU til lunchtime sounds impressive, if uncomfortable.

SilentMammoth · 14/05/2012 21:58

x-post with lastbox. Ooh lastbox, I used to be a stage manager once upon a time in London. Smile happy days.

Treats · 14/05/2012 22:00

Well I'm in Kingston if that helps to rule me out LimeLeaf.

And I'm not even a qualified accountant yet (working on it - next exam coming up in a few weeks) but have been working as the financial manager for a small firm for a few years now. I think I count as "qualified by experience". I've never darkened the door of a big accountancy firm.

Wiggy - good news about your letter. Best crack on while the window's open Grin The fertility monitor definitely sounds like a good investment for you. I've definitely appreciated having my OPKs this month - valuable extra info. I don't mind temping, but I can see why it sounds unappealing if you've not done it before.

Crazytictac · 14/05/2012 22:06

wiggy I'll prob be asking you for tips as I had to get DH to sort mine out ha ha. It's actually easy when you know how but I remember looking at it and thinking Confused. I think you can set it up to 6 days from when your AF starts so don't worry too much about holding your pee in tomorrow! You need to set a "window " (6 hour time slot) to pee during as well. I set mine at 7.30 so can then test any time from 4.30am -10.30am using your first pee of the day I have used second pee several times if I've needed the loo before 4.30 Depends what works for you time wise!

I rang the helpline to query something too and they were great. DS chucked his activity centre out of his cot during the call (the noise he made - I thought it was him) so did a sudden intake of breath and sort of abandoned the conversation whilst I pegged it upstairs. The poor helpline lady stayed on the line the whole time and calmed my nerves! Blush

Waves at springflowers, knew I'd missed somebody off my previous waving list!

Wll I'm 7dpo and quite frankly bored of it now. I have not poas. No way. Not at all

Crazytictac · 14/05/2012 22:10

X posts! lbot yep you pee on the fertility stick, put a little cap on it and then insert it into the monitor.

Spellcheck · 14/05/2012 22:11

Oh Pipbin I am sorry about my mistake Blush, really hoped you'd be too busy dtd to notice...good luck with that tonight!

OPKs are all well and good but ladies don't panic if no positive - they sometimes miss it! i had months of negs but when advised to test around 6pm each night around THAT time I got my first positive one. EWCM is just as good a sign.

AF has made her unwelcome visit today, the cow. So fx this month is the lucky one, seeing as how I'm now expert in checking and temping and OPK-ing!! Such a saddo.

I'm North of London, teaching in a primary school and studying too so why not throw a baby into the mix, hey?

Treats · 14/05/2012 22:14

lbot - x-posted. Yes - just over a year ago now. From a two bed flat to a four bed house for not much more money. And - yes - I was scouring the Ofsted reports for all the schools around here for several months beforehand. Definitely worth thinking about.

Crazytictac- I'm 6dpo and sharing your pain.......

Flyingwithoutwings · 14/05/2012 22:25

Oh I'm so envious of those working with The Stage, twas a dream of mine to be Christine in Phantom... I spent hours learning (I was rehearsing in my head) all of the score. I was even able to get that top scream in a controlled manner. Love it!

Anyway, back to reality....

DH has been a star this evening.
Took DS out, bathed him etc.
Gave me space to writhe in agony.
I think, deep down, he is worried its been a mc so is actually being nice, kind and helpful Shock
I've decided I like this version of DH, I shall not report the normal on missing Wink

I've never worked for a "big four", only government. I like what I do because I've saved millions a lot of money for the tax payer. The area I work in has had a lot of attention recently (ministers only) because we are fundamental to so much that's been going on. It's utterly brilliant.
If I won the lottery I'd do it for nothing except the filing Grin

Pipbin · 14/05/2012 22:26

No problem Spellcheck, I'm hoping you can see into the future and can be the first to congratulate me! Sorry to hear that AF got you.

I'm in East Anglia. Am I the only one out here?

Right -offensive sexytime is go.

Wiggy29 · 14/05/2012 22:50

Lastbox- eBay sounds great idea, wish I'd thought of that!

Silent- very amused by your evian bottle shenanigans! The things we do when ttc.

Crazy- really pleased to hear that they were helpful& it sounded like a good investment.

Pipbin- I have same idea as you for tongt, not because I'm ov but just for the kicks Grin

LimeLeafLizard · 14/05/2012 22:57

Told DH that several of you were accountants and teachers, and he said he wasn't surprised considering all the numbers and charts that seem to be involved in ttc! He does work for an accountancy practice.

I feel a bit inadequate now for not having a proper job any more.

Treats yes Kingston rules out bumping into you in the supermarket Sad - I'm NW.

Flying sorry to hear you're in so much pain. Do you think your DH could be right?

Spring how lovely that you met - are you still in touch with them? Do you still see them on here too? I'm not aware of anyone in RL on here though a couple of times I have wondered...

Mammoth dipping a test stick into wee in front of your vicar FIL sounds like a scene from a sitcom! Sometimes RL is funnier than fiction.

Wiggy, Crazy, it is interesting reading about the fertility monitor. Might consider that if I can persuade DH to part with the cash.

Lastbox hello! How exciting to have your first day back at work - how did you get on? Who looks after your DS and how did he get on?

Spellcheck sorry to hear AF arrived Sad. February babies rock though, remember?!

OP posts:
LimeLeafLizard · 14/05/2012 23:00

Wiggy and me too! I fancy a roll in the hay just for fun for a change!

Pipbin I might have passed you at the weekend then! Where in East Anglia? I think it was Dilly who said she was on the East Coast but maybe that means further north?

OP posts:
Pipbin · 14/05/2012 23:15

I'm in Suffolk Lime, where were you then?

Dillydollydaydream · 15/05/2012 09:02

I'm east Anglia too (Norfolk) Blush I don't have 6 fingers and toes though!

LimeLeafLizard · 15/05/2012 09:21

We were in south Norfolk, in the countryside middle of nowhere! Lovely for a weekend but would drive me nuts if I lived there all the time. Norwich is a good city though.

OP posts:
Dillydollydaydream · 15/05/2012 09:35

We're about 20 miles from Norwich, looking to move a bit closer as dh works there. Just been researching GCSE results, ofsteds etc for the schools. Wymondham, Poringland, Hethersett all l

Dillydollydaydream · 15/05/2012 09:37

Oops Blush
^All look good.

Feeling down and crampy today, fc it means AF is on her way, seems strange me wanting her to arrive while everyone else is avoiding her!

Treats · 15/05/2012 09:52

Good-ish news today. Temp drop but only by a couple of points. Checking my last two charts, my temp peak was followed by a big plunge in temp - 5 or 6 points - so this is looking better than before. I've now developed a belief in the magical properties of B6. So much so that when I forgot it this morning, I actually went back to the house to take it, despite the rain and needing to get DD to nursery.....

blackcatsdancing · 15/05/2012 09:54

Hi all,

limeleaf i was a stay at home mum for years and have never regretted it, it did make it harder for me to re-enter the workforce later though.

I had a child in my early 20s and hadn't found what i wanted to do so it was never a sacrifice as i had no career and i found her fascinating (most of the time). i squeezed in doing a degree part time too ( i left school early with little to no qualifications ). I'm now in what i consider to be a low paid job (for my qualifications) but i like it and its not very stressful ( i crumble under a lot of stress). I work for local government in city services (don't want to say more), and most of the job is customer focused so can be busy at times.

If I had my time again i'd have tried harder at a second degree- i wanted to do a psychology degree, i'd love to have been a child psychologist or i'd have trained to be a nurse and done something like family planning. Its too late now (for psychology) , nursing is still possible but i can't imagine going through all the essay writing again, studying can be stressful, so much to learn, so many deadlines. Just about to start a short OU course in nutrition as i like to keep my brain active.

wiggy good news from hospital. I've had cervical treatment twice so know what a worry it can be. I've just had a clear smear so nothing more for another 3 years.

spellcheck welcome on here. So sorry to hear about your DD.

pipbin good you reminded about the benefits of running. I did a women only get started in running course about 5 years ago (one evening a week), then ran by myself another 1-2 times. I lost 10 pounds easily and felt great. This is going to sound silly but i worry about running when TTC. I went 2 weeks ago and was so happy to still be able to run for 30 mins non-stop (albeit v. slowly), then i panic about the 2WW. I know its silly and looking at empire's success maybe i really should stop worrying, besides TTC may take forever and can't put life on hold.

empire congrats on BFP and PB! great stuff. Don't worry about the wine, it takes time for the placenta to build up so blood can be filtered through.

flying hope you feel bit better today

treats hope your temp stays up. Mine was high today not sure why, did keep waking briefly in the night . (36.97c / 98.546 F)

blackcatsdancing · 15/05/2012 10:12

limeleaf you may actually have a job, just remember you said something about no longer having a proper job.

to be honest i would have found having a career and being a mum so hard, not sure how people manage that. On other hand some people love their jobs and need the different stimulus it brings. Then there is money and i was very fortunate in that having a child early meant DH (now ex) and I had very low outgoings and he had a good job that covered enough when she was very young- later i did some crap part-time jobs when he could do the childcare (i.e evenings and saturday). We muddled through but not so easy these days. Current job is something i think i could continue alongside having a child and i'd definitely want to keep it.
