OP posts:
FluffyJawsOfDoom · 28/04/2012 09:06

We don't go anywhere with music that's loud enough that we can't hold a conversation :o

I think I might bake a cheesecake today. I just hope I can find my tried and tested recipe - I've been on a diet for what feels like forever, so it's probably long since fallen between the floorboards and turned to dust... Shock Blush

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 28/04/2012 09:11

cup I've messaged you about FB :)

cartoonface · 28/04/2012 09:26

Oooo cheese cake!

CupcakesAndCocktails · 28/04/2012 09:35

God I love cheesecake! Can't wait to confirm my obvious pregnancy so I can stop dieting Grin

Thanks PopFluff I've added you.

NinjaChipmunk · 28/04/2012 09:36

morning rat smackers, how is everyone? Sorry its been sooooooo long since I managed to check in here last time. I come asking a baking question as I know you ladies know everything about baking. My street is having a street party for the jubilee and I'm down to make muffins and sausage rolls. But what other stuff can I make, what would you like to eat at a street party? I'm a bit at a loss. It needs to be finger food/ buffet type stuff?

maybe are you home safe and sound now after yesterday? That sounds scary, glad I don't work up in town anymore.
And imps how is the new job going? I'm guessing since you finished the old one you have now started the new one??
Right ds is pestering me for breakfast, must dash

Calamityboo · 28/04/2012 09:41

Ooh cupcakes I have just seen upthread, you are off to the HP tour, tis fab, we went last week!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 28/04/2012 09:45

:o cupcakes I'm finding there's a bit of a calorie deficit now that I've stopped drinking, and I'm compensating with all kinds of deliciousness!

Ninja you could do a big quiche and slice it, or mini quiches made in cupcake tins? Some kind of fancy colslaw? which I clearly can't spell Hmm Chocolate cornflake/rice crispy cakes for kids? Pretty much anything you can skewer/cocktail stick, so the traditional cheese and pineapple, or prawns and mango if it's a bit more upmarket?

Solars · 28/04/2012 09:49

Morning ladies,

Cheesecake sounds lovely Fluffy by the way I've pm you so you can add me onto FB, can't believe ive reactivated my account so I can join you ladies!

NinjaChipmunk · 28/04/2012 09:50

enjoy the HP tour cupcakes!

fluffy good ideas there. I also saw some recipe for bacon wrapped halloumi which looked rather delicious...

Solars · 28/04/2012 09:52

Ninja you could a range of little tarts both savoury and sweet

CupcakesAndCocktails · 28/04/2012 10:03

Hey Ninja lovely to see you. I'm drooling over all this food talk. I bloody love quiche too, can anyone tell I'm starving on this diet?!

Ooh I'm so excited about the HP tour, am glad to hear it's getting good reviews.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 28/04/2012 10:05

Ohhhh I'm all about halloumi and roast vegetable sandwiches at the moment I have three blocks in my fridge Blush

Solars I can't find you on FB, your security settings probably don't allow it - I've PM'd you my FB page link and if you friend me I'll be able to add you to the brooking group :)

Calamityboo · 28/04/2012 10:11

Honestly cupcakes, tis amazing! I am actually jealous that you are going because I know what a treat your in for! Now where is the cheesecake?

ScrambledSmegs · 28/04/2012 10:30

Off to PIL's for the weekend now. Am in a bad place as more pink cm, and lots of it. Sad

Sorry to post and run with that news, but don't think I can really say any more.

BartletForAmerica · 28/04/2012 10:39

Morning, everyone!

Ninja, firstly, can you make muffins then? I am a decent baker but cannot make muffins to save myself. They just don't rise. What am I doing wrong? As for other things to bake, what about little version of Eton mess? They could do in a papercase and the meringues would be easy to do in advance. Smush it all up in the morning and you are sorted.

Solars, we have managed to draw you back to the dark side of FB, oh dear!

cupcakes, do report back about the HP tour. DH and I are planning on going sometime before it gets busy with school holidays. Just not sure if DS will enjoy the day out. I've read all the books (when HP7 came out, I had it delivered by Amazon then stayed at home all day, speaking to no-one, ignoring my phone/internet so I could read it all before I heard spoilers) but DH has only just seen all the films. He is missing so much!

Fluffy, enjoy the cheesecake. Make sure those eggs are well cooked for all of us pregnant people!

BartletForAmerica · 28/04/2012 10:40

Oh dear, crossposted with Smegs. Hope this is all nothing. I remember months ago, someone else (?musicalmrs) having lots of bleeding and thinking it was all over. She is due next month. Hope it is the same for you.

NinjaChipmunk · 28/04/2012 10:40

smegs i do hope its a false alarm, will be brooking for you till you are able to update.

yes yes to savoury and sweet tarts and possibly quiches. I assume you can do the pastry cases in a muffin. cupcake tin?

NinjaChipmunk · 28/04/2012 10:45

hi bartlet how are you doing? I use this recipe for muffins and swap the raspberries & choc for whatever I feel like adding to it. And on previous advice from maybe I sift the ingredients. And don't mix till smooth, it has to be quite lumpy. These are gorgous though, tres moreish and really easy!
And yes I believe it was musical who had lots of bleeds at the beginning and is due in the next few weeks.

Munx2 · 28/04/2012 10:51

Morning brookers

Just popped in to say to solars (hope that's right) that yes indeed it was me who had about six days in a row of positive OPK and we smacked the rat every day and once after the first negative!

The marathon ended in my surprise BFP, so good luck my lovely.

Hope everyody else OK?

Leaving some super brooking for smegs here too.

Apologies for sporadic check ins and lack of name checking, have been a bit worried about my pg for the last few weeks and have actually been unwell too. Had emergency do for appointment thankfully all fine but a nasty scare.

Have 20 week scan on the 8th and a consultant appointment so could use some brooking if that's OK.

Hope you don't mind me popping in...this thread still feels very much like home and I wish you all the very best and lots of BFPs very soon.

Calamityboo · 28/04/2012 11:06

I was warned about the acronyms, what is cm (I think this is not good) and opk? Hiya if we have not met, I am the new girl. : )

Munx2 · 28/04/2012 11:08

CM is cervical mucus and OPK is an ovulation predictor kit (or stick)

Hello to you too Boo!

jenfraggle · 28/04/2012 11:11

CM is cervical mucus and OPK is ovulation prediction kit (I think). CM can be checked for consistency to determine if you are ovulating and OPK sticks work like pregnancy tests but tell you if it is time to smack the rat rather than if you are pregnant :)

CupcakesAndCocktails · 28/04/2012 11:17

Smegs I'm brooking super hard for you. I've read a lot about having pink CM when your pregnant and it being nothing. I totally get why your worried though. We are all brooking like mad for you and minismegs.

*Calamity it's like learning a new language isn't it? I still get a bit confused. There is an acronyms list on the talk page I think.

Jen hello how are you doing? Have not been on the ante natal thread in ages. Has minijen popped out yet? Smile

Munx of course we will all be brooking for you and bean.

CupcakesAndCocktails · 28/04/2012 11:19

Oh forgot to say I'll report back Bartlet, I will be watching to see if there are lots of bored little boys around Grin

musicalmrs · 28/04/2012 11:30

Smegs, brooking lots for you. Bartlet is right - I had a lot of bleeding very early on. It can be a number of things. Get checked out if you can, but it's very common apparently. Try to keep positive, and not panic too much...

Will catch up properly with here and the beautiful FB group this evening. Currently taking a break from cleaning...!
