Just Shagging - the lazy way to make a baby! Part, um, 8?

MuddyWellyNelly · 27/03/2012 22:38

Over the last year or two we've had a thread for those who are Just Shagging. Confused by OPKs, too lazy to temp, can't read a chart to save your life? Not quite ready to forgo the Wine? Well stick with us!

Of course it's been SO successful that we're down to a tiny handful of regular posters, as everyone else has graduated and we'll ignore the fact that those of us that are left are probably way beyond Just Shagging. But it's an ethos rather than a strict rule. Come and join the fun Grin.

No rules here, other than EWCM is hereafter known as Pant Snot. AF is known as the Evil Red Tide of Doom (ERTD). Viroids is our name of choice, the reason is long since lost in the annals of time. If you really feel the need to take a test, Gu Ramekins are what all the classy birds are using. And of course, drinking is essential. Sometimes, we even remember to have sex Wink

So don your shag capes and throw your legs in the air caution to the wind :)

Old thread here if you want proof it works!

ooooooo baby Grin i have no idea of cycle so am working around 28 days so ERTD is due on friday. had some brownish pant snot around CD14/15 and then some creamy pinkish pant snot either begining of this week or end of last but nothing since!

sore boobs weeing a bit more nausea headache and tired all over here! oh and spots. gawd

JosieSmith1 · 10/04/2012 14:55

Aw Nelly, I'm a veteran too Grin Exciting about your first appointment, I really hope it all goes ok, please do let me know how you get on. I remember Kitten!! I'd forgotten about 'doing a kitten' Grin

Not a lot to report on I'm afraid, still in my 2ww, testing on Friday but I have to admit I don't feel any different from how I normally feel when I'm not pg, so I'm worried about testing, I honestly don't feel like it's happened. So I'm preparing myself for the worst. I think donor eggs will be my next option, I honestly don't think I can go through another IVF/IUI. If we had a higher chance with IVF I'd really consider it, but we have a 10-15% chance with IVF, and the likelihood is that I won't respond again and will have to go for IUI again, which is an even smaller chance than with IVF, or 50% with D-IVF. Decisions decisions...

Anyway, lovely to see so many newbies on here, hope you are not here not too long (in the nicest way possible) but don't be doing a kitten Grin

JosieSmith1 · 10/04/2012 15:01

P.S. I am commiserating by stuffing my face with... homemade vanilla cheesecake GrinGrinGrin

Vizzini · 10/04/2012 15:02

No symptoms here so I think I'm probably out. Saying that, I'm sneezing lots, which I did with DD! I guess that may be wishful thinking though.
ERTD due on Sunday I think. I'm currently 8 dpo and itching to test, but I know it's too early and I'd rather wait to see if I miss ERTD.

babylann · 10/04/2012 15:08

Yeah also had the brownish and pinkish pant snot. First time I've ever had that though actually, I've NEVER had colourful pant snot before (apart from that stuff you get at the end of pregnancy). I'm hoping I don't ever get it again to be honest, even though it came out of me I found it kinda icky (and startling at first).

The rest of MN is scary. I feel so daft when I read and reply to an OP with an "opinion", and then very quickly messages come pouring in from the more experienced Mumsnetters who've picked up on things from the OP that I've missed. Basically along these lines:

A summary of what I read

Hi everyone. My partner and I were having an argument earlier about a woman he's been getting close to. He said something very offensive to me. He then made a sexist remark. I called him out on it and he said I was being too sensitive. AIBU?

What I reply

I'm sorry you're having a tough time with your partner. That does sound offensive and YANBU.

What others reply

Your DP sounds like a perfectly nice guy! It's you I have the problem with!

This should be a good thread!

Biscuit Your poor DP! You need help. YABVU!!!!!!

I go and re-read and realise it actually says something like this

Hi everyone. My partner and I were having an argument I irrationally instigated when we got home from a day out shopping for my birthday presents about a woman he looked at briefly in a shop. He said I had nothing to worry about and that I should trust him as he's never given me a reason not to. I said something about him being a typical man who thinks with his penis. He was unpacking the shopping and handed me the sanitary towels we'd just bought and said, "I don't know where you keep these". I asked whether he was trying to imply that I'm on my period and that's the only reason I could be feeling upset, and threw a glass vase at his face. He says he's going to stay with MIL after the operation (to remove the shard of glass from his eyeball) because I overreacted. AIBU?

Then...

I BlushBlushBlush, wish I could have my comment removed and hope no-one remembers my name...

somethingwittynot · 10/04/2012 15:29

glad im not the only one with various shades of pant snot. urgh pregnacy pant snot. i had thrush so mine went green Blush

babylann · 10/04/2012 15:44

I was proud of mine! Grin Called DP in to inspect it with me. Twas not pant snot then, no, it was a little blob of greeting from DD inside me saying "I'm ready to come out soon mama!"

Now, in hindsight, it was just a piece of pant snot on a tissue. But we loved it and were convinced it meant I was about to go into labour. Nope, about a month later... (almost 2 weeks overdue Hmm)

lollypopsicle · 10/04/2012 15:47

Sound advice about shagging at work, nelly, especially as I'm a primary school teacher!
Lol babylann I reserve the aibu threads for lurking and smirking only for fear of a similar fate!

AWomanCalledHorse · 10/04/2012 15:55

baby, If you want I can send you some of the cheapy eBay tests I have? I bulk buy 30 at a time (it took 5 tests last time for me to believe I was pg) and it's about £3 for them!
Grin @ your summary of your MN experience, I try posting lots but I never seem to get noticed
DH hates all my name choices too, think the only names we've ever agreed on have been used on DS so no idea what we'll do!

something, I'm a beacon for thrush/UTI's so often have funky pant snot, pregnancy was the only time I didn't have something wrong with the plumbing!

DH is home from work & sleeping on the sofa, hoping for action tonight...doesn't look likely!

babylann · 10/04/2012 16:07

Ooh that's very kind :) but don't worry! We've moved house now and are close enough to town to buy them from poundland, and I've also finally got my paypal account working and am an ebay addict and will definitely be purchasing some Grin

DD was discovered on one of those digital pregnancy tests which gives you a "x-y weeks" reading so you know how far along you are. I took two of those expensive bad boys before I could trust I was pregnant...

Ever since I just bought whatever was cheapest at the chemist, usually about £5. JSing can be an expensive habit! And there I was thinking we'd save money on all the condoms Hmm

somethingwittynot · 10/04/2012 16:24

i think i had every shade of pant snot possible when pregnant. i had my waters broken due to severe pet and they where bright pink with bloody bits and orangey mucusy lumps. student midwife was very suprised. Grin

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 10/04/2012 16:54

Grin at Babylanns very good way of describing MN threads - especially in AIBU!

MuddyWellyNelly · 10/04/2012 17:38

Very funny babylann on the AIBU post Grin. I fear the wrath of MN too much to post in AIBU. Except when once I posted about eating Ben and Jerry's out of a bowl (OH), vs straight from the tub (me). It was all very light hearted, except for one poster who felt the need to point out that eating it with a spoon was very unhygienic, unless of course I was eating the whole thing in one sitting, in which case "I deserved to be very fat indeed" Hmm.

Anyway I shut her up by pointing out that Mr Nelly and I were rather more familiar with each other than merely sharing germs from a spoon, and in any case doesn't the freezer kill them again?

I bought a job lot of internet cheapies when I started TTC. Maybe 20 or 30? I still have at least 10 left. :(

OP posts:
AWomanCalledHorse · 10/04/2012 18:42

Nelly, what an odd poster Hmm. Your DH is being unreasonable, who eats B&J's out of anything other than the tub?!

something, my midwives were very surprised at how much water came out of me..no idea what colour it was (out of it, no sleep for 3 days).

babylann, I stopped buying them in shops as I didn't like the glares from sales assistants!!

I need unrelated help; What the Jeff can I buy DH for 2nd Wedding anniversary? He's a romantic so want something slushy, it's the Cotton anniversary & all I've come up with so far is a tshirt. Help?

CazMc82 · 10/04/2012 18:54

Hello,

So pleased to find a board like this! Very new to all of this; took last Cerazette pill on 31st March, no evil period as yet so just been having a lot sex! All good...hopefully;)

Nice to virtually meet you all,
Caz

babylann · 10/04/2012 19:15

I had to have my waters broken twice! No idea why! Luckily I had an epidural by the time the second one came, so I was too numb to feel them poking around.

Nelly, agree with AWoman, that does sound like an odd poster... But you get at least 1 on every thread really. And I also agree that your husband was being unreasonable - also a tub eater.

AWoman, maybe you could get him a embarrassing romantic t-shirt with a picture of you both on it. God, imagine how much you'd Blush wearing that...

Welcome Caz :)

lollypopsicle · 10/04/2012 19:32

Hello caz Smile

Cotton, hmmmmm. His and hers towels? ( cheesy but could be cute?) underwear? Make a little lavender cushion from squares of cotton? Confused

livismum · 10/04/2012 20:23

hi all! the title of this thread made me chuckle! been "at it" with DH for few months but as it took a year to fall with DD2 trying not to get too stressed for the moment (of course I can still tell u exactly where I am in my cycle Wink)

Tried to be sexy last night and surprise him in the front room in just my dressing gown, but at that exact moment a woman on Game of Thrones (his TV of choice) was doing the exact same bloody thing! Only she evidently hadn't taken all of her make up off, and her gown was more silk to my red velour! Oh and a throw didn't have to be found quickly to cover the new sofas!

Hope this made you smile as my discovering this thread did for me, haven't been on MN for a while but feel now I might have found my place!

ChildOfThe1980s · 10/04/2012 20:27

Hi all

I love this thread. All that sciencey-conception stuff freaks me out and is bound to make me obsessive and see my DH as a sperm-donor rather than a real person. Anyway, we are JSing #2 and I came off the pill in December.

ERTD is due sometime between today and Sunday. I don't know, it's different every month, which is annoying. I won't test until Monday at the earliest though.

AWomanCalledHorse · 10/04/2012 20:46

A big hello to Caz, livismum, Child Grin, Livismum that sounds hilarious!! DH hates it when I do a, ahem, sexy dance whilst he's on the phone to his mum.

babylann, if I had a picture of me post-labour I would put it on a tshirt with 'worlds sexiest wife' or summat..and get all offended when he didn't live in it!
lolly, we need more towels, hmmm I like practical presents. Cotton is such a rubbish gift thingy, feel forced into staying married just to get to the good stuff Grin

Persuasion · 10/04/2012 21:01

Ok, am in a rush but wanted to say hi to the newbies, and awoman it can also be linen, gives you a little more choice.

Oh, and I POAS today Blush after Infelt nauseous on the train. Obviously bfn. Hey Ho Hmm

somethingwittynot · 10/04/2012 21:52

woman i had tones to! was walking around birthing room and everytime i had a contraction i would have to stop as more would gush out.

sorry for anyone on DC1 but the midwife tried to break my waters and couldnt so got the doctor to do it. the doctor asked the midwife to get the hook thing and the midwife had to go and look for one. the doctor sat there waiting a good 5 minutes with her hand inside me. she told me she wastouching DS head and then tried to break my waters with her fingers Shock Grin

the most painful thing about labour was getting the clip on his head

TbotsMummy · 11/04/2012 00:06

Hey can I join you guys?

I've got a 17 month old ds and we have been trying for his sibling for about 5 months. I'm defo too lazy to chart temps etc altho I do try ov tests. My cycle can be anything between 24-28 days and I'm currently on cd20.

Love the terminology in here... Brill :D

Somethingwitty - I had to have the little clip attached to ds head during Labour and totally agree it was absolute agony.... Can remember trying to climb up the back of the bed to get away from the doc lol x

Fraktal · 11/04/2012 05:26

Hello all newcomers!

awoman we get odd looks APing but love it and tbh everyone assumes we're conventional now so it doesn't come up. DH is a total convert because he's seen it work on a very happy, smiley, confident boy who gained weight well and is apparently developmentally ahead in every area (including language, screw you paed who said bilingualism caused speech delay Hmm). He also loves reusables now and tried to make me take them on holiday (errrr no - holiday means not lots of washing). AP isn't a total lifestyle. We're AP lite really. We BF, cosleep, babywear and have done since the start and those are the most important bits along with believing in DS's power to communicate. We don't really EC and don't do unconditional parenting. Re: anniversary I got DH a White Company bathrobe - very thick and luxurious.

nelly I agree relationships take work which is why we need to do it now, particularly when we're going back to stuff 2/3 years ago that we papered over so we don't argue when I was upduffed/DS was tiny. We need to talk about how unsupportive he was of me in pregnancy (head in sand) and how unsupportive he can be of me and work in general. Heigh ho. And we have a big international move in 3 months that I've not prepared at all.... Good luck with the hospital! You have I stay - JS philosophy has moved on a lot since I first made up the rules Wink and YAtotallyNBU. Tub.

babylann I'm sure bambam popped because there's only princess left. PMSL at that other thread - so MN.

josie I didn't feel pg at all do fingers very crossed for you. Mmmmm cheesecake.

something your pant snot/waters sound scary! My show was greenish (and huge) but no thrush, or at least I don't think so, and that's pretty much the last pant snot I had Blush although I've occasionally felt damp and wondered if it was ERTD... Nope my fanjo just clearly had a cold.

somethingwittynot · 11/04/2012 06:58

tbots i to tried to crawl up the bed with the doctors hand inside me Grin

fraktal i had to change my pads several times and kept making my DP feel the weight of them and look at the colour Blush Grin

ERTD due in 2 days but i dont feel ERTDish at all. i feel different like really happy almost the high you get after bfing. and i dunno just different Smile
