Just Shagging - the lazy way to make a baby! Part, um, 8?

Over the last year or two we've had a thread for those who are Just Shagging. Confused by OPKs, too lazy to temp, can't read a chart to save your life? Not quite ready to forgo the Wine? Well stick with us!

Of course it's been SO successful that we're down to a tiny handful of regular posters, as everyone else has graduated and we'll ignore the fact that those of us that are left are probably way beyond Just Shagging. But it's an ethos rather than a strict rule. Come and join the fun Grin.

No rules here, other than EWCM is hereafter known as Pant Snot. AF is known as the Evil Red Tide of Doom (ERTD). Viroids is our name of choice, the reason is long since lost in the annals of time. If you really feel the need to take a test, Gu Ramekins are what all the classy birds are using. And of course, drinking is essential. Sometimes, we even remember to have sex Wink

So don your shag capes and throw your legs in the air caution to the wind :)

Old thread here if you want proof it works!

Well there is hope yet Frak!
I know what you mean about the wondering how you'd cope. I was chasing with DS2 in the supermarket today, and I thought, what the hell am I thinking? But in my heart, I want another. So it may be difficult for a bit but I'll manage!

lollypopsicle · 26/04/2012 19:32

Had a play date today with a friend who had her 2nd baby 4 months ago. She said the first 6 weeks was a manic, sleep deprived haze that she somehow managed to muddle through. Now ds2 is a few months older, she feels it's a lot easier. I reckon I could cope with 6 weeks of hell??? Hopefully Confused

Dysgu · 26/04/2012 20:37

Hello everyone - I have just read back over the last couple of pages to catch up with the thread; it moves so quickly. Life is so hectic right now (work is crazy as we move quickly towards SATs and then the girls both had to see optical consultant this week and the stress of that (and the tests that go with the visit) made DD1 ill so we had childcare 'ishoos' ...)

It is week's like this one that make us wonder how we will cope with having 3 - but then, I am probably going to consider asking to go part-time if we do have DC3 which might make things easier or we might have to bite the bullet and get an au-pair (even though the au pair would only have to do the school run with 2DDs and take the baby to the childminder).

Still, I guess we have to conceive the baby first... although I have been feeling nauseous and have had an 'odd' taste in my mouth so you never know, we may have been successful already.

BTW, can anyone tell me what BFN stands for. I think I know what it means but not what the actual words are and every time it appears I think I should ask, but then I think it must be something so obvious, so don't ask...

somethingwittynot · 26/04/2012 20:45

cant wait till DP gets in another round of JSing will commence Grin i dont give a fuck how tired he is

my DS is asleep doing baby snores. i find them soooo cute.

i had to pack away DS 0-3 months clothes today ready for moving even though he has grown out of them its a sad day considering 13 weeks ago he was in tiny baby and now hes in 3-6 for his length and feet though still in newborn "clothes". times flying Sad

somethingwittynot · 26/04/2012 20:46

BFN big fat negative

Derbyborn · 26/04/2012 21:41

I'm sat desperately trying to remember when my last ERTD was but to no avail - not good practice to forget dates when baby making Blush. I think it was sometime between 29th March and 1st April which means ERTD is due any time between now and next Thursday Hmm, seems like ages until I can test. I should take more note of dates but sometimes after 2 years of trying one month blends into the next.

We find out which school DC1 will go to next friday, eek!

mandasand · 26/04/2012 21:44

Nice to come back to the day's chatter now I'm able to relax in front of the computer with a cider!

Thanks for all the hellos and welcomes! :-) you are a friendly bunch.

I have been checking the acronyms pages but I'm still a bit behind. I think I've got the gist of JSing (hehe) but what words does it stand for? And PIARing?!

awomancalledhorse: my husb only snores (and only quietly) on his back which is brilliant. a gentle nudge and he goes on his side and lovely silence! (unlike some boyfs I've had over the years!)

how some of you ladies can sleep all cuddled up to other half, I don't know. I really wish I could. I need to be in my own space - same position as babylann coincidentally - to relax properly otherwise my brain just keeps ticking over :-)

even tho husb and I are ttc for the first time, I still have my doubts, like you fraktal*. I've got to 37 being selfish with my time and that's all going to change. I work too much, and I love it, and I know that that balance is going to have to shift too. but, the upside - starting to TTC is really making me shift on some major projects I need to get completed! i keep thinking, OMG I might only have 9 months 'golden time' left! I'm reassuring myself that I wasn't totally convinced about marriage - didn't see what it could add to our relationship - but being married, for us, has been transformative in ways I could never have realised. And I have concerns that because my experience of childhood could have been easier and more joyful, that I won't be the best mum possible, but - as with marriage - I'm hoping that my doubts will come to nothing.

well, there's only one way to find out ... nearly bedtime, so some more JSing (once someone tells me what it stands for, ha!)

night all ... :)

somethingwittynot · 26/04/2012 21:47

JSing just shagging! Grin

topbannana · 26/04/2012 21:48

Bs, why have I written a lovely post twice and its vanished?! Angry Pay attention ladies, I will only say this ONCE more!! Wink

frak I know what you mean about having a second DC. There are times when I genuinely wonder if I do want one. Now I am reconciled that I want a DC with DH, rather than a DC at any cost which is an important distinction (to me at least!)

persuasion How in the name of all that is holy do you know if your cervix is low?! I am genuinely interested as it sounds suspiciously like what I get, I just had no idea it could be anything so TMI'ish! :o

something So sorry to hear about your friend, as mentioned earlier on it really puts our problems into perspective.

My ERTD arrived yesterday which bizarrely pleases me in several ways:

  1. Its about when I suspected which means I am becoming all Earth Mothery and getting "in touch" with my body!
  2. If things continue in this vein I will be free when we are on holiday. I will be able to accompany DS on water slides, in the pool etc and will not have to worry about how far from the shower block we are placed (though I have scandalously used ERTD as a way of avoiding swimming etc when it is too cold. Poor DH smiles sympatetically as I relax coyly on my lounger :o)
  3. DM and DSD are coming tomorrow as DS is 8 on Saturday. I now have no need to hurl myself on the floor and gnash my teeth at the lack of JSing due to having guests :o
LilBlondePessimist · 27/04/2012 04:00

Hi there, . Just wondering if I can join, have dutifully read the full thread, so hopefully now up to speed with your acronyms. Feel like a bit of a fraud here, as still bf ds3 who is six months old and haven't had edtr(?) as yet, so may just be jsing for jsings sake if u know what I mean! Have never opk'd (don't know what it means) or temped (aside from a stint in some offices in my late teens), and wouldn't know how to chart if my like depended on it. With ds1 we js'ed for eight months, ds2 came along while bfing ds1 and on the mini pill when ds1 was 11mths old, and ds3 came about after four months of 'jumping off early' Blush, having had the mirena removed due to stage 4 dyskariosis (sp?), and two letz procedures, while still unsure what method of contraception to use! Have now firmly decided that we would like no 4, but this has to be v v soon, as hubby is a relic, a bit older than me.

So there's my story. So sorry about your friend something, sending my love her way. And good luck to everyone else (I am terrible with names and always on my phone). :)

somethingwittynot · 27/04/2012 08:38

welcome blonde we have something in common i am blonde Grin DS was concieved after 19 days of JSing but seem to be taking longer this time!

Fraktal · 27/04/2012 08:49

blonde I've not had ERTD yet as an still BFing my DS! Driving myself crazy with symptom spotting but no idea when to test!

DogEared · 27/04/2012 09:10

Welcome blonde! There's a few of us with museum-age DPs on here... :)

I hate the 2 week wait.

Dexidoo · 27/04/2012 10:06

ERTD got me

Ah well at least it is Friday and there is Wine in the fridge

LilBlondePessimist · 27/04/2012 11:14

Hi again! I should probably start by telling you that I live in Australia, so my posts may sometimes come at odd times of the day for you guys!

something, it's always nice to have something in common! I've been following your MAD shagging habits in awe! Even when dh and I married, I think our top record was about eight in 24hrs and that gave me horrendous thrush so good on ya!! :)

fraktal, there is something do frustrating about not knowing what's happening inside you, although ironically just after I finally decided to post here I discovered some pale pink/light brown discharge (omg that is soooooo Blush writing that out loud), and have no idea what it could possibly mean? First ertd? Ds3 still bfs about 3/4 times per night so I doubt anything could be happening (not for lack of trying), but ds2 was conceived while still feeding ds1 2/3 times per night and on the mini pill so who knows!?!? Just wish I knew when to test. Although have had three serious hyperemesis (hospitalized), each starting about 7 wks and (sort of) ending at 26wks, so sure I'd notice eventually!

Actually, I'm terrified of hyperemesis and spd again, but have spoken to the gp who promises to help at the first sign this time.

dogeared, laughing at museum aged dh, (doubt he would, lol). Just wish I knew when my 2ww was!

Anyhoo, enough of my ranting - thanks for the welcome! Brew

LilBlondePessimist · 27/04/2012 11:15

Oh and dexidoo, sorry ertd got ya.

Fletch1 · 27/04/2012 11:39

Aw I would love to be a cuddly sleeper but I give up after about 5 minutes when I can no longer feel my arm and the sweat is pouring off me! Also, Dh hates my hair tickling his face so it just doesn't work :)

Anyway, back to the matter in hand, my ERTD ( is that right?) is due anytime now (my cycle is anything from 28 to 35 days). Surely we can't have been that lucky for it to happen straight away. I have sore breasts - although I get that every month anyway, so there really is no way of knowing.
We are going to wedding tomorrow and I just now it's going to arrive then and I'm going to have awful cramps and be disappointed despite telling myself its the first month of TTC and chances are it will take a lot more months of TTC!

Sorry for the rambling, we haven't told anyone we are trying so it's nice to get all off my chest :)

livismum · 27/04/2012 12:01

Hi guys afraid I'm going to be doing 'a kitten' and leaving u as I got my BFP! Fingers crossed for a stick bean!
Feel a bit bad as I only joined u lot a few weeks back I haven't posted much but been lurking and enjoying some of your exploits! Grin
I reckon u lot must have been my lucky charm, last time it took me a year to fall but this time only few months, and I was a lot calmer this time JSing rather than trying anything more high tec, I was lucky as got clear signs of OV and managed to coordinate being in same house, and bed as DH at the right time!
Wishing u all lots of luck, be nice to have some of u as company over on the dark side! Smile

LilBlondePessimist · 27/04/2012 12:10

Wow, I'm not sure what doing a kitten is, but I'm sure it deserves a huge congratulations, and I'd love to be able to do one too! Grin Grin Grin x

lollypopsicle · 27/04/2012 12:42

Congratulations liv hopefully you have stated a roll of bfp's Smile.

Sorry you're out this month, dex

I am symptom spotting like mad. Feels like ERTD is around the corner but it would be a bit early. That's how I felt last time...

...Having said this, I have convinced myself I'm preggo many times in the past when I definitely wasn't. Patience is not a strength of mine!

lollypopsicle · 27/04/2012 12:52

Forgot to say welcome blonde. I'm the eldest of 4 siblings. Even now my parents house is still full of kids! (grandkids). There is also always at least one of us living there for some reason or another.
Though, I think personally, I'm done returning to the nest! Best of luck Smile

somethingwittynot · 27/04/2012 13:05

yayyyyy fake baby kick happening here Grin

my charming DP said i looked pregnant this morning when in fact im just fat. plain fat. and that mixed with bloat=baby bump. how i wish.

DogEared · 27/04/2012 13:08

You JSed on you PIL's rug????

I think you should do workshops, something :o

somethingwittynot · 27/04/2012 13:46

yeah the sofa wasnt to comfy for DP and the floor was hard nice fluffy rug? get in there Grin

Persuasion · 27/04/2012 18:28

something you make me laugh so much! Oh to be young again.

topbanana I felt for it, with my fingers Blush I don't know if that's against JSing rules, but since it seems pretty random what it does on the whole, I'm not sure its helping. And we're keeping JSing anyway.

Welcome blonde

Congrats livi - that's 2 thread BFPs already. Fingers crossed for stickyness.

I can't remember who asked but PIAR is pee in a ramekin for reasons I'm not sure of, ramekins are the chosen item to pee in in order to pregnancy test.

Sorry ERTD got you dexi and sorry for the BFN fraktal although I like your ongoing positivity.

Nothing new with me, except it's FRIDAY so that means Wine yay Grin
