Just Shagging - the lazy way to make a baby! Part, um, 8?

MuddyWellyNelly · 27/03/2012 22:38

Over the last year or two we've had a thread for those who are Just Shagging. Confused by OPKs, too lazy to temp, can't read a chart to save your life? Not quite ready to forgo the Wine? Well stick with us!

Of course it's been SO successful that we're down to a tiny handful of regular posters, as everyone else has graduated and we'll ignore the fact that those of us that are left are probably way beyond Just Shagging. But it's an ethos rather than a strict rule. Come and join the fun Grin.

No rules here, other than EWCM is hereafter known as Pant Snot. AF is known as the Evil Red Tide of Doom (ERTD). Viroids is our name of choice, the reason is long since lost in the annals of time. If you really feel the need to take a test, Gu Ramekins are what all the classy birds are using. And of course, drinking is essential. Sometimes, we even remember to have sex Wink

So don your shag capes and throw your legs in the air caution to the wind :)

Old thread here if you want proof it works!

Gosh that's just awful, your poor poor friend. She must be going through so many emotions right now. It kind of puts all of our grumbles in to perspective doesn't it.

somethingwittynot · 25/04/2012 18:24

exactly ive offered my support but i cant even think about how she must feel. i could tell her about the blood transfusions though. you know when your in the situations where you just want to do something to make it all okay when infact your useless and it cant be fixed? thats how i feel. she isa very close friend and i just want to make this nightmare go away for her.

DogEared · 25/04/2012 18:35

Oh no something. That is awful. It happened to a friend of mine. I constantly messaged and texted her, because other friends stayed away because they didn't know what to say. It's so sad.

lollypopsicle · 25/04/2012 19:50

Something, your poor friend. What a sad and scary time Sad

Horse, i am far from an expert but I'll tell you what I think I know. Ovulation is usually around 10-16 days before your ERTD. The time between ov and ERTD is usually very consistent. What can differ is WHEN you ov. Everyone is different but it's generally around mid cycle. However, It is not uncommon to be much earlier or later.

I have had cramps in my fingers and toes the last day or 2. I have decided that this is obviously a lesser known early symptom of Impregnation. The only possible answer, surely??? Hmm

AWomanCalledHorse · 25/04/2012 19:56

Oh something what a terrible time for your friend. I'm thinking of her & hoping she's gets through it ok (physically & as well mentally as you can). :( xx

lolly, I get crampy fingers & toes when I am hungry.
Thanks for that info, I don't look into things as I think I could easily turn into a crazy ovulation stick waving bore.

Has everyone else got this crazy rain?

Debeez · 25/04/2012 19:57

May I join? I know I've come in at a serious time so somethingwittynot I hope your friend is well :(

Been ttc for a few months, all charts and early testing. Got a positive early on, ERTD arrived and it was awful.

We've resolved no more charts, no more OPK, no more "it's time to shag". We're gonna plod on as usual and ignore the whole thing as much as possible.

I'm working my way through the posts to catch up :) (if you'll have me that is :o )

somethingwittynot · 25/04/2012 21:05

welcome debeez hope you will have fun here!

thankyou everyone else i know she will really appriciate your thoughts.

lolly the last 2 days ive had crampy shins so maybe ive oved super early Grin

AWomanCalledHorse · 25/04/2012 21:06

Welcome Debeez! Do you have children already? Sorry to hear about your awful time. x

Debeez · 25/04/2012 22:47

Thank you for the welcomes. I have a DS who is 8 (and a half as he would say) so potentially a big gap!

mandasand · 26/04/2012 01:19

hello lovelies! this is my very first post on mumsnet

husb and I are ttc for the first time. (ttc is the only mumsnet acronym I've got the hang of and and we're not doing anything scientific, like temps, just shagging for the moment. which is great!)

i'm a bit confused about my cycle though. i was on POP injection for three years and then I went onto progesterone daily pill for a few months as doc told me I'd get my fertility back more quickly. I came off that two months ago and got my first (short for me) period in three years about ten days ago. If I'm fertile I think I'm probably ovulating around now (so, erm, perhaps I should rush off to take advantage of husband before he goes to sleep ... !) But does a period necessarily follow the release of an egg?

I have been pregnant in the past (15 years ago; that pregnancy didn't work out) so I know I was fertile back then. But now I'm 37 and husb is 40. we feel we're getting on a bit! hopefully there are still some eggs and little swimmers left!

right, he's beginning to snore so I might have to wake him up for some ttc action!

sorry for rambling but nice to meet you all :-) xx

lollypopsicle · 26/04/2012 07:51

Hello mandasand if my DP had got as far as snoring, nothing would wake him up! I hope you had more success Wink.
As for ovulating- it is possible to get a ERTD ( period) without ovulating. I wouldn't worry about all that for now, just enjoy the shagging and see how it goes. Gods luck Smile

lollypopsicle · 26/04/2012 07:53

Obvs meant good luck!

EmyC · 26/04/2012 08:57

Hi, i think that i'm 4 weeks preganant, and we just worked out our most fertile time via one of those internet predictors and made love for a good five or six days before ovulation was predicted, and here we are, we do feel very blessed i must admit i'm 36 so was thinking that we would be trying for ages with no luck.

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 26/04/2012 09:37

Oooh congratulations EmyC hope all works out smoothly!
(Also a smile here because I use an internet predictor on my phone - used to be so I wouldn't be caught out unawares by a period, but now I use it to see when I'm most fertile and I'm also 36 like you so hoping some of your vibes pass over to me!)

And hello to Debeez and Mandasand

Am off to register at dentist today. Was filling the form out and rather than the usual no on the question 'are you or could you be pregnant' I've ticked a hopeful yes for the first time - which made me chuckle as well!

mandasand · 26/04/2012 09:47

Thanks for the hellos and the good luck! Hope everyone on here has a very successful month ahead! :)

somethingwittynot · 26/04/2012 09:50

think i might of fucked this month up. im due to ov today or tomorrow and we didnt js last night as didnt get in till quater to 12 [sad[ we did js the night before tho.

am praying the baby goes to sleep so we can js before DP goes to work

AWomanCalledHorse · 26/04/2012 10:01

Hello Mandasand! I hope your cycle is nice & predictable. I'm terribly sorry about your snoring husband, I also have one of those, I find a quick tickle helps solve it...it's also hilarious.

Ooh Debeez, he sounds old enough to change nappies Grin

Congrats EmyC! Hope you have a smooth pg!

Stuck, a good thing about having a baby (aside from having a baby) is the free dentistry!! Grin

something, try thinking positively..if you're not pg this month your DC won't have a birthday in the same month & you'll have some money Grin Hope he goes back to sleep!

somethingwittynot · 26/04/2012 11:42

well we got it in Grin

somethingwittynot · 26/04/2012 11:49

woman good thinking! also im stealing your tip for next time DP snores however i have started to fall asleep on his chest and dont even hear him snoring. hes woken up at 4 in the morning and im still there sleeping in his arms :)

might do the MN ovuation calculator thingy. have a feeling i might of ov early though.

DogEared · 26/04/2012 14:11

Hello everyone! Glad to see you're all at it like rabbits :o
Welcome Debeez. Sorry about your experience :( It's wise to be a bit chilled about ttc I think. It's so easy to get obsessive about it, and I remember last time getting really bloody frustrated when DH wasn't in the mood! I'd hate it if he was ever like that with me, so I checked myself a bit. However, even though this is our first time ttc no. 3, I have bought the ovulation tests off amazon Blush My plan is not to tell DH about ovulation etc, so that he doesn't feel any pressure, but that I am aware when to wear my nice pants from Primark :o

ROFL @ lolly with crampy fingers and toes. People do get weird symptoms, though. My first symptom has always been an absolute certainty that ERTD is starting... That crampy feeling when you're about to flood IYKWIM (TMI sorry).

Welcome mandasand Good luck with the JSing! Is it weird to wish a stanger luck with shagging? Hmmm... :o

Hooraaaaaaaaaay EmyC! Congratulations! Hope it goes well. How are you feeling? Any symptoms?

I've used the internet calculators but I tend to OV late... The sticks actually bloody work this time, not like ttc last time when they said I wasn't ov at all! It's pretty weird looking at two pink lines, because it's exactly like a PG test, but not...

AWomanCalledHorse · 26/04/2012 15:22

Still no ERTD, and no symptoms. I think it's holding out for our weekend away.
We're going away, without DS for a weekend. A whole weekend without the baby. We can sleep and drink...and sleep some more. Can you tell I'm excited?! Grin SLEEP!!

DogEared, I keep on looking at the test line on sticks and thinking...is that low enough to be a BFP? So I think I would drive myself crazy with the OV sticks!

something, yay on the shagging! How you can sleep in his arms!? I get too warm if I sleep anywhere near DH!
I have a pillow to hug & another to bury my face under...I also sleep halfway down the bed!
How does everyone else sleep?

Hope everyone has a good weekend! What have you got planned? Something inside away from the evil rain?

babylann · 26/04/2012 17:42

I can't sleep in or near DP either. I sleep on my side with one leg straight and the other bent, usually facing away from DP (i hate sharing air!)

DP bought a test home yesterday as he was truly convinced I must be pg, yet another BFN, cd 40-odd now :(

Will write more next time I'm at the pc

Persuasion · 26/04/2012 18:50

something I'm so sorry about your friend, sounds awful. (But yay for well timed shagging!)

Welcome debeez and mandasand

awoman how late are you? Maybe you should test? I sleep all snuggled up to DH too, largely coz he takes up 3/4 of the bed, so in order to have any space I have to!

No news here. Think I may have OVed as pant snot is less and TMI warning my cervix is low again, but who knows. That would give a 26 or 27 day cycle, so would be due ERTD around 8th May. We're going on holiday on 13th May, so I guess I'll test then if no ERTD (I'm being optimistic). Am JSing away anyway, and we'll see what happens.

DogEared · 26/04/2012 19:13

babylann you can't sleep in you DP? :o :o :o

Fraktal · 26/04/2012 19:23

Well I PIARed and BFN, although it would have been very early to test so....

I'm actually quite scared at the thought of having another. I'm oddly not sure I want to, except I do, but I'm worried about how I'll cope, only it will be easier later when they can play together, but what will we do about childcare. Argh. Someone also me with a kipper!

babylann Angry on the BFN but no ERTD. How frustrating.

something so sad about your friend. You sound very caring and I'm sure she'll appreciate any support you can offer.

Grin reading about all these sleeping positions! Envy awoman I am so jealous of your weekend away!

lolly of all the lesser known preg/OV signs that's a definite maybe Wink
