Just Shagging - the lazy way to make a baby! Part, um, 8?

MuddyWellyNelly · 27/03/2012 22:38

Over the last year or two we've had a thread for those who are Just Shagging. Confused by OPKs, too lazy to temp, can't read a chart to save your life? Not quite ready to forgo the Wine? Well stick with us!

Of course it's been SO successful that we're down to a tiny handful of regular posters, as everyone else has graduated and we'll ignore the fact that those of us that are left are probably way beyond Just Shagging. But it's an ethos rather than a strict rule. Come and join the fun Grin.

No rules here, other than EWCM is hereafter known as Pant Snot. AF is known as the Evil Red Tide of Doom (ERTD). Viroids is our name of choice, the reason is long since lost in the annals of time. If you really feel the need to take a test, Gu Ramekins are what all the classy birds are using. And of course, drinking is essential. Sometimes, we even remember to have sex Wink

So don your shag capes and throw your legs in the air caution to the wind :)

Old thread here if you want proof it works!

With regards to what we say when people ask if we are having any more, DP and I were pretty sure that we were stopping at 2DCs so have spent the past couple of years saying so! I imagine many people will ask if (the as yet unconceived) DC3 is a mistake but I am not telling many people that we are TTC - as already stated, we are getting on a bit now!

Having said that, who knows...

horse we love living here on the Island although have never lived in London so cannot make direct comparisons. We did choose to live here as it is so safe for children we figured it would be a nice place to raise them. London is easy enough to get to - my dad is a Londoner - but we love the life we all have here (with possibly the commute that DP has to do each day to work on the mainland but that is only hard in the cold dark winter mornings!)

lollypopsicle · 21/04/2012 20:15

All of you on the lash last night made me jealous so sent DP out for vino earlier, which I am now drinking so I can feel part of the gang! Grin JS-ing will follow, of course!

Fraktal · 21/04/2012 20:25

babylann you do realise you've set yourself up for a BFP now, right? Wink

I need to finish my work and then wake DH for a shag. DS is 1 today, time to get seriously motivated about making a sibling.

AWomanCalledHorse · 21/04/2012 21:26

topbannana, Grin your DS sounds hilarious! Hope the art gallery t'was fun, you cultured people!!

StuckIn, everyone in DHs family rides bikes, they do touring holidays & stuff so I've got to learn or be left behind! Looking forward to buying DS his first leathers/bike. He will be the next Rossi, oh yes.

baby, complaints about your overgrown grass?! You must have v.curtain twitchy neighbours Hmm
Possibly the best reason I've ever heard to have another Wink

Thanks for answering Dysgu, sounds like they'll have an awesome childhood there! Although I'd not like early morning boat crossing, brrrrrrrh!

lolly have an awesome night of vino & JS, we've got McDs and the posibility of JS, don't all get jealous!

Happy Birthday FrakJr!

topbannana · 21/04/2012 21:32

Ooh gosh, its actually happening Envy
DH is due a third grandchild last Monday (I told you he was a relic!) and we have just had the txt to say they are at the hospital. Its been bugging me since I first found out and I have made mammoth efforts to be convincingly thrilled by it, all the while formulating ever more devious ways of not having to be part of the welcome party.

Problem is the baby will be born (most likely) tonight and I am at work tomorrow on the maternity ward (I am the one who bugs you to have your DC's pic taken :) ) Therefore I will see the DGC before DH, though I will have the excuse of having to get on with work not to hang around too long.

Feel really quite bad that I cannot be as thrilled as everyone else in the world, though at the moment the anticipation of the text is quite good. Will see what tomorrow brings but may have to partake in a little celebratory/ commiserating alcohol tonight :o

AWomanCalledHorse · 22/04/2012 09:04

Hope it works out for you today topbannana, hope mother & baby had a short, painless, safe labour (I'm sure they happen sometimes)!

Caved and did a test this morning BFN, but no ERTD (looking at the last 2 months, ERTD arrived between the 10th-20th, my first sympton with DS was constant ERTD style pains).

babylann · 22/04/2012 11:53

Yep same, I continue to be absent of an ERTD but have started to develop new symptoms, like waking up feeling sick this morning.

Ugh, how our bodies play games with us!

somethingwittynot · 22/04/2012 11:55

well JSing happened last night along to next doors wayy to loud reggae at stupid oclock. DP said we should try and out do them with our sex noises. hmmm yeah right Hmm

happy birthday fracktal jrn

somethingwittynot · 22/04/2012 15:46

totally not related but woooooooo one of my threads has made discussion of the day!! Grin

PricklyPickle · 22/04/2012 16:23

Oooh get you! That makes you the closest thing we have to a celeb. I was slightly concerned after your last post but one that it might be about sex noises, but thankfully not Grin

somethingwittynot · 22/04/2012 17:10

nope some things are for the JSers only Wink nothing is TMI for this thread

Grin
AWomanCalledHorse · 22/04/2012 17:25

something, do you get lots of help with DS from DP's parents?
Just wondering as a friend has just moved with DS & DP into their own place from her parents and is finding it tough adjusting to being alone all day with DS.
MN is so wonderful at making me feel like I'm talking to (almost) sane adults when DH is at work. Grin

We're going to JS tonight, has no UTI-ness for three days. Who wants to bet ERTD arrives before we get a chance?

somethingwittynot · 22/04/2012 17:58

woman im currently sitting here mning with DS sleeping in his chair after rocking him with my foot. before we came to the inlaws we where living at my parents. DP was then working 9-5 training for his new job now hes on shifts. my mum worked 7-7 and my dad 7-6 so i was alone with a new newborn till DP got in. i was sorta thrown in at the deep end after everything we went through and then 20 days after i had DS i had an emergancy gall-bladder removal but had to continue looking after him. i suppose like any other mum ive just had to figure it out for myself.

i love my inlaws greatly and i truly appreciate everything they have done for us but its been annoying coming here. MIL will pick DS up everytime he squeaks and will muscle in with him. i cant wait to move so i can be a proper mum again without her breathing down my shoulder. im to scared to say something though as i dont want to offend her though if she had her way DS would be on solids from 4 months!! when infact i want to do BLW from 6 months! it is nice to be able to ask someone who knows what should be normal if im unsure.

one thing is though shes very set in her parenting ways and cant quite get her head around the fact where baby led and not in a strict routine! Grin

i agree with you though mumsnet is brilliant for some almost sane adult conversation! Grin

AWomanCalledHorse · 22/04/2012 18:32

something, did you need your gall bladder out because of the C-section?
My Mil is an ex-midwife so I had lots of advice (from 30yrs ago) whilst I was PG, I just smiled & nodded so I didn't offend her..it's so hard not to say 'It's my body/baby, piss orf for a bit'. I mentioned BLW & cosleeping to her & she thinks I'm mad.
I wanted to BLW, but we've just started (as in, lunchtime today!) DS on baby rice, he's 4m 1 day, he still tries to grab food from me though.
Have you had lots of great advice from your moving thread?

Dr.Google said it's worth testing 3 days after a BFN, so I'm counting down the ERTD-less hours!

somethingwittynot · 22/04/2012 19:00

woman i had 2 CT scan when they where checking for internal bleeding after DS whilst trying to figure out what was wrong with me. the scan showedi had gall stones and a dialted right kidney. it was about our 3rd night home from the hospital and i had a gallstone attack. the pain was like nothing i have ever felt was curled up on the bathroom floor crying and puking my guts up.
much much much more painful then induced labour.

Me and my gall bladder split up on valantines day Grin

The moving thread has been amazing so much stuff i never would of thought of so its really helped out! and so much more to do. Moving in 9 days Shock

topbannana · 22/04/2012 21:24

horse thanks for the thoughts. It went OK in the end, I popped in, saw the baby and chatted for a couple of minutes before hordes of her family arrived, allowing me to depart with poise and grace Hmm

I then ventured into Mothercare (we hadn't bought a present as they did not find out what they were having) I have avoided Mothercare for several years, preferring to scurry past with eyes averted, and did not relish the idea of visiting today. However it was relatively painless, in fact I feel like one of those arachnophobics who stroke a big hairy spider :o

All in all it went better than I had dreaded, just need to think of a plausible way to get out of DH & DS's welcoming visit tomorrow- I feel such a bitch Envy

tiredteddy · 22/04/2012 21:54

Hope everyone has had a happy busy weekend! My two nights out were great fun. Have read those posts I have missed, this thread moves quickly! DH has a bad back I hope it gets better soon as JSing should be commencing next week Grin

somethingwittynot · 23/04/2012 08:42

total scare this morning! DP was playing with DS helping him sit up. he let go and DS sat for a few seconds by himself ( hes only 12 weeks) Grin but then DP only just managed to catch him before DS flopped backwards Hmm

DogEared · 23/04/2012 11:57

totalbannana You're not a bitch. I am completely sympathetic. You're doing well in keeping your poise and I'm proud of you. :)

somethingwitty Shock It's horrible when things like that happen... DS2 is fearless and will go into the most dangerous situation with a smile on his face! Tell your DP to enjoy the lying down bit. :o

I have a sneaking suspicion that these ovulation sticks are bollocks. I used them when ttc DS2 and they didn't show I was ovulating at all- At the very time DS2 was conceived. Why I've bought them again, I don't know. I'm on day 11 and they're showing nowt, but I feel I may be ovulating because I'm horny so I'm going to ignore them. DH is convinced that we'll have a new baby next March, and he tends to be a bit weirdly correct with these things, so we'll see...

somethingwittynot · 23/04/2012 16:29

DP loves to use DS as a fighter plane/transformer/machine gun. Boys will be boys. To be fair DS does seem to enjoy it. Strange child.

dog my MIL is a bit of a witch. Took one look at DS scan and went thats a boy. Shes Covinced we will have a girl next. Will love it if shes right Grin
Me and DP have already decided were not finding out the sex this time round.

somethingwittynot · 23/04/2012 17:33

just spent 50 quid in the asda baby event i should not be let loose in there!

AWomanCalledHorse · 23/04/2012 18:01

top, you work on a maternity ward...you're avoiding it because there was a sick-ish mum or baby in today, after she left? It's a nice white lie because it looks like you're looking out for mum & baby. Grin
I don't think you're being a bitch, you're making an effort but keeping a distance. x

Dog, fancy lending me your DH so he can work out when we'll have another? Never used the ov sticks.

DS had his 2nd lot of jabs today and is a happy camper, and I bought my first post pg size 8 dress

something, I don't know if it's my memory playing tricks on me, but I find the first 2 days of ERTD worse than labour.
Did you get anything nice today?
Are you going to be decorating a nursery for DS when you move in?
Looking forward to buying new bedroom furniture when we kick DS out in 2 months Grin

Hope everyone had a decent day, considering the weather is so crappy...

somethingwittynot · 23/04/2012 18:34

we got 18 packs of wipes for £14 130 nappies for £15 pack of 5 vests for £5 2 babygros for £5 fairy washing stuff for £5 so dont have to worry about that when we move in and my niece a present for when shes born Grin hoping ill be pregnant by then so it wont be so bad Sad

yup the PIL brought him a traditional whinnie the pooh coat so were going along that theme. Hes going to be in with us until at least 6 months though. We have sorted out the colour schemes for the other rooms apart from the 3rd bedroom. Probably sort that out once DC2 arrives Grin

Ive had a pretty good day thanks woman you?

DS is teething badly but seem to be handling it pretty well

topbannana · 23/04/2012 18:51

Well thats just great, my poise and dignity is shattered when I chickened out at the last minute and could not do the visit. I managed to dissolve into a quivering heap which is MOST unlike me and now DH and DS have gone and left me behind. DH is cross that its now later than we planned and thinks I am being ridiculous (which if truth be told is completely true, even I concede to that)

So now its me on my ownsome which is not great, though better than the alternative (definitely need a guilty bitch smiley for here) All I have to do now is wallow in my own self pity until they get back, we may then ignore each other or discuss further how ridiculous and selfish my behaviour is, depending how the mood takes us. Alternatively I may go to bed and feel sorry for myself there instead Sad

PS- great idea horse but I came across it too late, I had suffered my nervous eclipse by that point. Even if I had seen it I am such a shocking liar that I don't usually bother, I have trouble enough with the truth at times :)

Fraktal · 23/04/2012 18:57

Awww top sounds like its tough for you.

something go you with the shopping! I really miss Asda. Those prices make me weep, although thinking about it we don't use sposies and wipes so it's just the clothes. But still. The UK is just tons cheaper.

I am bizarrely convinced I'm pregnant, but utterly denying it. Not even testing. But the greasy hair has appeared Wink
