Just Shagging - the lazy way to make a baby! Part, um, 8?

MuddyWellyNelly · 27/03/2012 22:38

Over the last year or two we've had a thread for those who are Just Shagging. Confused by OPKs, too lazy to temp, can't read a chart to save your life? Not quite ready to forgo the Wine? Well stick with us!

Of course it's been SO successful that we're down to a tiny handful of regular posters, as everyone else has graduated and we'll ignore the fact that those of us that are left are probably way beyond Just Shagging. But it's an ethos rather than a strict rule. Come and join the fun Grin.

No rules here, other than EWCM is hereafter known as Pant Snot. AF is known as the Evil Red Tide of Doom (ERTD). Viroids is our name of choice, the reason is long since lost in the annals of time. If you really feel the need to take a test, Gu Ramekins are what all the classy birds are using. And of course, drinking is essential. Sometimes, we even remember to have sex Wink

So don your shag capes and throw your legs in the air caution to the wind :)

Old thread here if you want proof it works!

lollypopsicle · 17/04/2012 21:22

I'm with dogEared. You've got no "well now I feel a fool for testing so early" risk so I'd be getting down tesco buying a stick and a gu pud!

somethingwittynot · 17/04/2012 22:45

Let the daily JSing commence!!!! Grin

babylann · 17/04/2012 23:06

Temptation got me Angry BFN for me!

somethingwittynot · 18/04/2012 06:50

sorry to hear that baby Sad

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 18/04/2012 07:05

Fingers crossed fraktal and bad luck babylann
I wanted to JS like somethingwitty as had been feeling horny all day but by the time we got to bed we were shattered and fell asleep! We don't even have any existing dc's which would explain that!!!
DP just gone to work and we were still tired and couldn't believe it. Thought we were over jet lag but it's like it's come back after a week of feeling better...
Will try again tonight!

somethingwittynot · 18/04/2012 07:47

stuck we have to go to bed extra early as my oh is on early shitft 5:45-12.45 meaning he has to leave at 4.45. we have to go early to fit JSing in before he falls asleep!!

the other times we JS whenver we can Wink Grin

lollypopsicle · 18/04/2012 08:46

Sorry to hear about the bfn, babylann rrrrubish!

In the throws of JSing in our house but it's beginning to get to the point where it's becoming a bit mechanical. Need to subtly reintroduce the romance, any tips?

DogEared · 18/04/2012 08:50

That happened with us when conceiving DC2 lollypop (I remember having to unfurrow my own brows mid-shag once, I was concentrating on the "go on go on go on go on!" in my brain :o ) We only got pg when we stopped thinking about babies. Also, to make an effort throughout the month and not just when ovulating- the more you have sex, the more you want to, so it's better.
I'm not even going to tell DH when I'm ovulating this time, so there's no pressure...

Off topic, but those of you already with DCs- I think I know exactly when mine were conceived, and those times were very, erm, intense... Does anyone else have that experience?

AWomanCalledHorse · 18/04/2012 08:57

lolly jump DH at a time/place you wouldn't normally have sex.

Persuasion, oooh if UTI was a sign of pg I would be very happy..atm I'm so bloody uncomfortable I've only been out once this week (means DS is very happy).

Boo babylann, have some more Wine Fingers crossed Frak hasn't been back on as she's spent the evening throwing up with morning sickness Wink
I think I'll test on monday, gives ERTD the weekend to show up.

StuckIn, do you think you're knackered because you're not at the flat? Culture shock and all that?

something I'd rather avoid another Christmas period baby, DS was born 21st Dec so we'll be really broke if we have another one that week!

A question to everyone; If you could choose when DC was born, when would/wouldn't it be?
I'd like a Spring baby as we've not got any birthdays/events in the family until May..wouldn't like an August baby as I'd hate being heavily pg during our 'hot' summer.

Persuasion · 18/04/2012 08:57

Bad luck babylann I also got BFN so have decided to chalk up my one day maybe ERTD as actually ERTD, making today day 6. I'm feeling surprisingly upbeat though.

stuckinthefens that sounds very familiar! We did manage to JS last night despite the exhaustion. Surprising upside to TTC is a JSing fashion is it's done wonders for our sex life Blush

fraktak test test test! [Living vicariously through others emoticon]

lollypopsicle · 18/04/2012 09:15

AWoman, ideally I'd like a baby to be born between Sept and April. It's a teacher thing, summer born children are statistically more likely to struggle academically and emotionally at school.

That said, it obviously doesn't mean they will struggle, I know plenty of summer babies thrive in our school system. I wouldn't stop trying to avoid the summer. I'd be happy, whatever.

Fraktal · 18/04/2012 09:32

No throwing up just royally knackered!

Need to actually get a test in order to test. Thinking about possible due date of rather it was negative as I definitely don't want a Sept-Dec baby, ideally late Jan-June which is our equivalent of Sept-April I guess. July/August wouldn't be great if we switched school systems. Sept-Dec they'd end up skipping or repeating a year depending on the direction (we run by calendar year)

dysgu yes I know when DS was conceived Wink and it was noticeable from my POV!

CupOfBrownJoy · 18/04/2012 09:36

I think in practice I really would mind when our DC was due.... I'm November and DP is January, but we've also got lots of family birthdays in September and October.

I suppose its fairly quiet for us in March/April so an Easter baby would have been nice, just to have something to look forward to in Spring!

I'm also a teacher and if I had a summer born baby who seemed @young@, I wouldn't hesistate to keep them back a year. I think we start children too early in the UK anyway.... (different system here)

Anyway DC is due 19th December so now I'm just hoping he/she doesn't crash Christmas too much! Early would be good (but not too early obviously....)

CupOfBrownJoy · 18/04/2012 09:36

argh meant to be wouldn't mind!!!!

somethingwittynot · 18/04/2012 10:09

i know when DS was concived it wouldnt happen to be that night/early morning we JSed 6 times would it? Wink Grin

when first pregnant i thought i had a UTI and had booked an appt to go and talk to the doctor about possible UTI when infact it was DS!

ERTD has finished but im feeling very pg? WTAF?

somethingwittynot · 18/04/2012 10:31

my DS is 3 months old tooday! :( hes put on 5lb 3oz in 3 months and is 23 inches and im being told hes on the small side for weight to height ratio? weird.

babylann · 18/04/2012 12:15

I was also worried about having a summer baby with DD, she was originally due in April but ended up arriving mid May. I know my cousin was worried about the opposite - her daughter is an October baby and my cousin was worried she would be "held back" by being in a class with children almost a year younger than her. I guess I can understand as in the grand scheme of things, when you're 15-16 it won't matter, but there is such a massive difference between a 3 year old and a 4 year old.

I'm not worried about DD anymore Grin But DP does want to get her tested by mensa, she's incredibly bright for her age. I won't let him get her tested, I think it could lead to disappointment as she could slow down at any point. She is very impressive though, has been reading a few words since 18 months, she can recite full books, counts up to 13, recognises the alphabet, etc. It's so exciting watching them grown and develop "grown up" skills that come so naturally to us but are so tricky for them.

lollypopsicle · 18/04/2012 12:35

I think 4 is too young for structured, full time school. I also wouldn't hesitate to delay starting school and home ed for a bit if I thought it suited DS best. We'll see! He's a December baby so not stressing about it.
As babylann had illustrated, all kids are different and develop at different rates regardless of the month they were born!

Anyway, reckon I only ovulated yesterday ( and I'm not even sure of that) and I'm already symptom spotting, I'm a crazy lady! I know this is ridiculous and am having serious words with myself. Think I'll take a chill pill with a glass of wine tonight!

Pinkie29 · 18/04/2012 13:19

something I giggle at all your JSing haha! Where do you get time to eat and sleep?! I remember being exactly the same from 16-20 haha x

babylann · 18/04/2012 13:26

something I remember feeling pregnant from the day DD was born up until she was about 6 months old. A couple of times I even asked my midwife to feel my stomach to see whether they'd left a secret twin in there (she wouldn't check though Grin). One time I got my fetal heart monitor out and checked around my tummy til I found a heart beat (my own) and then convinced myself there was DEFINITELY a baby in there.

You hear so many stories in those womens magazines of people who conceive a baby when they're already 4 months pregnant with another baby, I was convinced something like that was happening because I was still feeling kicks, that whirring feeling in my lower stomach etc. I think it was just mostly to do with the EMCS, my stomach was at work repairing itself or something. Also possibly the rapid weight loss of all the pregnancy fat.

AWomanCalledHorse · 18/04/2012 15:22

Damn you Frak!! Order the test already, we're all waiting for you to wee Grin

I only POAS with DS as I was going wine tasting with a mate...so I still owe someone some wine!

DogEared, I think I know when DS was concieved (I had a uti either side); I 'seduced' DH by singing Barry White at him & doing sexy hip thrusts...

Lolly, Baby, I'm too thick to home school but I'll like to start DS in school as late as possible, obv. he can go nusery a few times a week in a year or so.

baby, I was convinced DS would be early, my braxton hicks were so strong I thought he was going to be mid-nov. He fought the induction all the way (induced a few days before EDD).

something :( Have they said why or asked to up his milk? We're starting weaning this weekend, which should be fun.

Fraktal · 18/04/2012 15:38

awoman ahh weaning poo Wink disturbed sleep from digestive upsets Wink so much to look forward too!

I'm refusing to POAS yet. It's impossible that I have actual PG symptoms yet.
