Just Shagging - the lazy way to make a baby! Part, um, 8?

Over the last year or two we've had a thread for those who are Just Shagging. Confused by OPKs, too lazy to temp, can't read a chart to save your life? Not quite ready to forgo the Wine? Well stick with us!

Of course it's been SO successful that we're down to a tiny handful of regular posters, as everyone else has graduated and we'll ignore the fact that those of us that are left are probably way beyond Just Shagging. But it's an ethos rather than a strict rule. Come and join the fun Grin.

No rules here, other than EWCM is hereafter known as Pant Snot. AF is known as the Evil Red Tide of Doom (ERTD). Viroids is our name of choice, the reason is long since lost in the annals of time. If you really feel the need to take a test, Gu Ramekins are what all the classy birds are using. And of course, drinking is essential. Sometimes, we even remember to have sex Wink

So don your shag capes and throw your legs in the air caution to the wind :)

Old thread here if you want proof it works!

Hum de dum, what to do to make time go quicker? ERTD not due till 21st and I feel it's going to be a very long week and a bit! Did follow my old girl guide ethos of be prepared bought a 2pk POAS's £1 in asda! They were in there singularly last month but as they r now packaged 2 together thought it best to grab them! Grin

I won't be so prepared for DD1 to go to school on Monday, I'll be at corner shop frantic on sun night!

Feeling quite positive this month more frolicking managed than normal (thank god for bank holidays!) DH works nights! So usually TTC has to fit around school and playschool, and me dashing back to take advantage of sleepy DH!

Both DD's have birthdays in march 8 days apart so if not this month bet it will happen the summer and add to those hectic 2 weeks (also our WA and sis's birthday in-between, and this yr mothers day!)

Good luck everyone POAS this week, and getting other results and stuff (sorry on phone and can't 'tag' people! Xx

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 12/04/2012 14:11

hello all... am dithering... need your guidance...
ERTD due yesterday - felt usual symptoms on Tuesday but nothing happened. Yesterday and today I don't feel remotely like ERTD is happening, but equally I feel no changes in my body and think its very unlikely I'd be pg due to very little JS actually happening 2/3 weeks ago.
I have never done a pg test - do I get into that habit when periods are late, or do I follow the ethos of 'just shagging' and just leave it?

Am completely torn between just being cool and getting on with things, but then there's the crazy hysterical mad female part of me that wants to know (even if its to confirm its a no and ERTD is on its way and just delayed...)

babylann · 12/04/2012 14:33

Based on last time I was JSing, the habit of taking pg tests on due date and even a few days before got really stressful. It's hard to hide from the temptation to POAS, but it's also quite disheartening to get a BFN, especially if you end up being a few days late. Lots of inner turmoil, "Should I do another one?"

Essentially I decided to start POAS five days after due date, and then once a week from that point on.

The only reason I would see for testing is to make the necessary lifestyle changes. If you have a job which involves heavy lifting, you smoke, you're planning on going out drinking at the weekend, you do heavy exercise, etc, then you need to test. If you already have the lifestyle of a pregnant woman, I guess there's not much need.

Fraktal · 12/04/2012 14:58

I would leave it. A no isn't a no, it could be a not yet. babylann has it right - only test if it will have an impact on your lifestyle.

I only tested bang on last time because we were flying and I wanted to know whether I could take a sedative (used to hate planes).

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 12/04/2012 15:39

Thanks... And not doing

Off to do shopping and will resist looking at the tests! Instead will buy chocolate and wine!

babylann · 12/04/2012 15:41

I've been feeling really sick on and off for the past few days to the point where I started wondering if I had a tummy bug. 5 days left til due date. I only mention this now as I've suddenly had a wave of sickness come over me.

I wasn't sick once during pregnancy, though I had a lot of nausea at around 3 months. But I know each pregnancy is different... my mum said she was sick constantly with me from conception to labour, but then only once with my brother (after eating too many mashed potatoes, her craving Grin).

somethingwittynot · 12/04/2012 15:50

i was very sick with DS but not till 8 weeks. then hyperemesis kicked in at 30 weeks. i to have been feeling very very sick. ERTD due tomorrow but like stuck i dont feel remotly ERTDish. however i have slightly tender boobs weeing a bit more very sicky feeling headaches lower stomach cramps on and off and tired! probably due to DS though. also had the pink pant snot around 7/8DPO but now the waiting game kicks in!

lollypopsicle · 12/04/2012 15:59

I'm in agreement with the only test if needed or unusually late. Looking at the dates, my ERTD is due the day of a friend's wedding. If it's not here by then I think I will test to know if it's ok to get tipsy. otherwise, I'd be waiting for a few days after ERTD expected, at least.

My main reason for feeling this way is not wanting to know about a possible chemical pregnancy and also because I find it doesn't help to ease the obsessing. There's too many excuses for why it could be a false negative. In short, too much poas is not good for my mental health!

babylann · 12/04/2012 16:02

I thought a chemical pregnancy was where you were pregnant but not producing much/any of the hormone the POAS is there to detect? Am I wrong because they way you put it sounds like it's something to worry about, like mc?

lollypopsicle · 12/04/2012 16:13

As I understand it, a chemical pregnancy is one where the egg was fertilised and hcg begins to be produced so a bfp is possible but implantation is subsequently unsuccessful so your period comes as normal or a few days late. I'd rather not believe I'm pregnant only to have ERTD come soon after which does seem quite common Sad

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 12/04/2012 16:35

Well I went straight past the pharmacy aisle and have returned with some reduced mini eggs instead!
Feel more in control and less like a crazy person - can understand why lollypopsicle says its better for mental health :-)
And it must be pretty hellish to have a chemical pregnancy - maybe its best not to know...
I have registered with a new doctors and I have to go see a nurse on Monday - if still no sign of ERTD thats probably a good time to get them to do a test for me for free!!! (see you can take the girl out of Yorkshire but you can't take the Yorkshire out of the girl!!!!)

babylann · 12/04/2012 16:41

Hehe! Only probably with tests at the GP clinic are that you have to wait a few days - or at least I did. And then I had to go back with another sample, and then another, cause both times they sent my wee off to test for infection instead of pregnancy. Luckily I'd already done a couple of tests and knew it was a BFP and was only getting the test done for confirmation! Wink

Well done for avoiding the temptation! It would have been okay to buy one though Grin You're gonna need one eventually! Share those mini eggs around please!

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 12/04/2012 16:55

Help yourselves to the virtual eggs theres plenty of those, and if anyone is in Aldi - then they're down to 19p
(see I am the last of the big spenders!!!!)

somethingwittynot · 12/04/2012 17:07

i got my test done in a&e majors lol. crushed by a horse and found out i was about 5 weeks with DS :)

lollypopsicle · 12/04/2012 17:19

I don't know, something, the lengths some people go to for a freebie test Wink

Also, aldi is ace! Anyone know if they do prego tests?

somethingwittynot · 12/04/2012 18:04

ill do anything for a freebie Wink

babylann · 12/04/2012 19:42

Aldi is really good. Can't remember seeing pg tests there actually, but I guess each Aldi store is different. I know mine is different every time I go in Grin You never know whether something they sell that you've grown to love will suddenly stop being on the shelf!

somethingwittynot · 12/04/2012 20:19

feeling quite sicky again tonight Envy

tiredteddy · 12/04/2012 23:06

Hi, back from hols. So much washing to do Sad. Never mind. I've had a quick read to catch up on what's been happening with everyone, seems to be even more people here and I definitely can't remember who everyone is? Must try harder!

AWomanCalledHorse · 12/04/2012 23:06

As my cycle isn't regular (although my sisters always start on the same day, we've not lived all together for 10yrs..weird!) I test whenever I 'feel' ERTD is late, so proper sciencey!

StuckInTheFens Grin fertilised mini eggs?? Good luck at the Drs, I always panic when I register at a new ones just incase they look at my past notes & find something I don't know (first 2 GP's were useless).

Hope ERTD of doom comes soon something (or a bfp!), it's so crap when it drags on!!

baby, I religiously go into Lidl or Aldi once a week and never can find enough to do the weekly shop there...must have really crappy local stores!

What's everyone upto this weekend?
DH is away on a course, so JS is off the cards for 3 nights....unless the postman knocks Wink (I joke, I joke..our postie looks like Gollum although he saw my boobies last week when DS pulled my top down, lucky Gollum).

babylann · 12/04/2012 23:29

No plans this weekend. Probably boring, bit of housework. Desperate Housewives on Sunday night. Gardening if the weather is nice enough. Thanks

Big girls night out next weekend though, woohoo! GrinGrinGrin Which is why I WILL be testing if I'm late for ERTD, due in 5 days, both on the due date (so that I preferably will have warning if I need to reschedule or request a non-alcoholic outing instead), and also the morning of the night out if it still hasn't arrived. Because I intend to drink a helluva lot of WineWineWine, especially as we're taking JSing super seriously next month and therefore it might be my last blow out!

We do go to Aldi every week Horse, but we also have to do a second shop at a "proper" supermarket for the bits we couldn't get. Tesco if we need nappies, Morrisons if we don't. Very organised :)

somethingwittynot · 13/04/2012 07:23

i have no idea of cycle but working on a 28 day one ERTD is due today. i usally come on in the middle of the night before the actual day its due lovely waking up pressie and so far nothing.

will be on ERTD watch all day. i am insane.

hope you had a loverrrrly time teddy

woman your so right and now im waiting for it to appear/not appear it feels even longer!

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 13/04/2012 07:40

Love Aldi but like others often need to top up somewhere else as well!

I'm heading back to the fens to pack up my flat - I used to work away in the week but unfortunately the contract has finished and won't be renewed. Bad news financially but we were expecting it. We've saved up a bit and have made the decision to not take on any work going forward that means living apart in the week which will be lovely :-) will hopefully also see some folks and catch up on the gossip!

Awomancalledhorse - what about you what will you do with 3 days to yourself?

Babylann - have you got an outfit sorted for your big night out?

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 13/04/2012 07:44

Somethingwitty - so feel for you... Human body is amazing but surely this is a design flaw and we should have a much better system for knowing if we are pg or not!

somethingwittynot · 13/04/2012 08:02

well the waiting is over. was just about to JS with DP and ERTD has got me Sad. at least i know my cycle now.
