Jingle jingle....anybody joining me? I figure this HAS to be my month if I'm starting the thread :o

OP posts:
blackcatsdancing · 24/04/2012 07:53

well done on the weight loss Pipbin, 6 pounds in 2 weeks will be hard though it is possible (i wouldn't want to go so hardcore on a diet though) but maybe you'll be close enough to be referred . I'm trying to lose weight, i'm in healthy weight category but right at the top end so want to lose a stone and get back down to middle/ lower end, its hard! I'm trying the Paul Mckenna way. Not lost anything yet but i am generally eating better which is a good thing for me.

Well i tested , 11DPO and got a negative. Not surprised. I checked my pregnancy chart from last Nov and I only tested positive on 14DPO and that was faintly ( i thought it was 13) so i'll test again in a couple of days and see what happens. Not hopeful this month though. We only managed to BD once during fertile period (2 days prior to ov) as I came down with a hideous cold.

blackcatsdancing · 24/04/2012 07:54

i mean i thought it was 13DPO when i got my first BFP last time.

LimeLeafLizard · 24/04/2012 09:41

blackcats I tried Paul McKenna a few years ago. I did loose a few pounds and especially was more positive and energetic.

I think I felt ov pains last night and my temp was up this morning, but not convincingly so (and that could be due to the number of times I had to get up in the night). So I think I have Ov'ed two days earlier than expected. Or maybe not. Arrrgghh why can't it be more simple and obvious?!

LimeLeafLizard · 24/04/2012 09:43

Sorry I have completely forgotten to say sorry for your bfn, blackcats, BUT as you say yourself, it is too early to be very meaningful. I am still keeping FX for you!

Wiggy29 · 24/04/2012 11:01

Lots of comments as been catching up with thread:

  1. Treats- I'm so sorry for your loss. My brother and his partner experienced something very similar with their son in June, I don't have any words but just want to say that my thoughts are with you. They just found out they are pregnant again but I think they'll be relieved when they have the 20 week scan as that was when problems were noticed last time (he had a diaphragmic (sp?) hernia) and we were only blessed with a few hours with him.
  1. Those asking about BMI- could you not try a steam room/ treatment that offers a few lbs off? I'm sure it's cheating but if needs must...
  1. Mooncups seem a great idea but what do you do if you need to rinse them in public (I'm thinking about my work toilets when I ask this).
  1. All those who've had negatives- how frustrating but I think we're all still in the running for January babies (are we? my Maths is terrible).

I'm convinced I'm not going to test this month unless I'm late but it still just seems yonks away at the moment (12/05), I guess that's the problem with testing early last month, it makes the next cycle seem to last forever!

lastboxoftampons · 24/04/2012 11:59

Hi everyone - yesterday's temp was very high which then makes me question the two earlier ones Hmm and didn't temp this morning as arrived in New York and got in late and DS awake in the night and got me up at 6am (thank god for Dora!). So I'm either 4dpo with well-timed shagging or 2dpo with little chance this month.

Lime I think it was you asking about O pain? It's not something I've really felt until I was obsessing about it recently but I usually get a pretty severe pinching/twinging on one side. This month I also had really achy ovaries. But even armed with that, it's hard to tell if the egg has just been released or if it's gearing up to in a few hour, days, etc. Hmm you know, just to add to the confusion Wink

As for "it could happen quickly" - I know you're all right. That's part of the reason we waited so long to TTc again, we've always firmly believed you shouldn't start trying until you're ready. I mean we ourselves got pg first go with when TTC for DS but then mc'd.

Sorry about BFN blackcat Sad

Treats hoping your tests give you some answers. I'm sure your cycle is just taking it's time settling down not to mention how stressful your experience has been. Hugs for you!

Treats · 24/04/2012 12:52

Pipbin - maybe it'll be OK if you can 'prove' that your weight is on a downward trend and that you're taking action. Or you could wear high heels Smile.

blackcats - sorry you had a bfn, but it might still be OK. Still got fx for you.

Wiggy - thanks for your message. have you ov'd this month yet, or dont' you know?

lbot - have a great time in NY and I hope DS lets you relax a bit. You could have had a 'stairstep' increase where it goes up and then goes up some more. A very high post-o temp is good though - you were worrying before about how low they were, weren't you. Did you chart the temps in Fertility Friend? When does it think you ov'd?

Nothing to report from Treatsville today - other than that my AF seems to have been lighter than usual - which I've decided is a good sign for getting my hormones back into shape.......

Pipbin · 24/04/2012 13:02

Wiggy At work I only need to 'empty' my mooncup at lunch time really. To be honest I empty it out, give it a wipe round with toilet paper and give it a rinse under a hot tap when I get home.
The other option is to take a bottle of water in with you.

Well it's 11dpo here, a bit of spotting when I got up and that was it. Might test tomorrow.

Wiggy29 · 24/04/2012 13:45

Treats- I don't know yet. I gave up on temping as I couldn't be faffed to set alarm to wake me/ Dp at the same time each day as we get up very early midweek for work as it is. Instead I'm trying OPK, I did one on Sunday that came back negative so I'm trying again today, which reminds me... (goes off to poas).

Pipbin- are they good for those with a heavy cycle and how do you work out what size you are?

Wiggy29 · 24/04/2012 14:06

Well it was negative so might give dtd a miss tonight as done it the past few. There was a second line but very faint so if I've understood correctly, it's not a positive unless it's as dark as the control.

LimeLeafLizard · 24/04/2012 16:46

There are two sizes of mooncup - if you are under 30 and have never vaginally delivered a baby, you take the smaller size, if you are over 30 and / or have had a VB, you take the larger size. Info here

I am mostly at home with the kids but when I am using public toilets I take a small bottle of water in my handbag to rinse it.

lastbox have a fab time in NYC! Hope it doesn't muddle your temping too much!

So the possible O pain that I had last night felt like stitch. A sharp, stabbing pain more on my left side than right, and it was worst when standing up from sitting, or walking around. It only lasted about 2 hours. I wasn't sure as I didn't think I would O for another day or two, but then I had a temp rise this morning. I managed to delay DH before he left for work Wink, but overall I am worried that I have mis-timed it and that we haven't done enough. We'll see...

Pipbin · 24/04/2012 18:23

wiggy with regards to OPKs. Yes the test line has to be as dark as the control line. Everyone is different but I find that I have no line, then a fade in, positive which lasts for one wee only, fade out, then a faint line until AF.

Wiggy29 · 24/04/2012 20:33

Limeleaf- had a baby (well, he's seven now) and just turned 30 so I'm going to investigate the larger size. Thanks for the link, I'm going to have a look in a moment.

Pipbin- That's interesting, do you test once a day? Had a look back through the recent thread but couldn't see if you'd said. I'm going to test every day for the next few so hopefully see something soon. If my guesstimates are right, it should be over the next few days.

Pipbin · 24/04/2012 20:46

wiggy as soon as I get EWCM I test every wee. I've found that the I tend to get a positive from my second wee of the day and after that, it fades out.
I test after the positive just out of interest.

blackcatsdancing · 25/04/2012 08:51

well i think its going to be all over for this month. Didn't take temp very accurately, DP decided to stall going out in the rain by getting jiggy (nice surprise as we were amorous last night too), anyway took temp afterwards just out of interest and its way down, not quite below cover line but almost, i guess if it had been done accurately it would be much lower. I have been moody, spotty and craving sweet stodge, usual signs af is on its way. grr...

blackcatsdancing · 25/04/2012 08:57

re OPKS, i find i often don't get an official positive (ie as dark or darker than the control line) . I might start testing more frequently, i do sometimes test twice a day. I count a positive as when the line is darker than day before, if the following day its faded again i know that was it. Its a bit of a pain as the tests take a long time to develop fully (if you want to confirm a negative) , and hiding an OPK stick at work where it cant be seen as i keep an eye on the clock isn't easy (i work front line services!)

Pipbin · 25/04/2012 10:13

Curiouser and curiouser in the Pipbin house.
Got up this morning and there was heavy spotting. At 12 dpo I thought it must be AF and put my mooncup in before I went for a run.
When I got back there was only a tiny bit of brown blood in there and there has been nothing since.

I will test tomorrow assuming the old witch hasn't turned up.

blackcatsdancing · 25/04/2012 11:06

treats/anyone who knows , are day 3 bloods for testing progesterone? i know they will do that on the NHS but do you have to push for it or is it something they're happy to do?? what happens if day 3 falls on a sunday...

LimeLeafLizard · 25/04/2012 11:25

Grin @ blackcats DP, using the rain as an excuse to DTD! Still it is pretty cold and miserable out there. Sorry to hear that you think AF is on her way... when are you planning to test?

Fx for you, pipbin, let us know when you test.

Over here I had a definite high temp this morning - way above usual coverline - so it is clear now that I did Ov earlier than I was expecting. At least I was able to read the signs correctly and did get to BD a couple of days before and just after. So now I am back up on Progesterone Hill (was that Flightty's phrase?) and into my 2ww again.

LimeLeafLizard · 25/04/2012 11:28

sorry blackcats I just realised that you only tested yesterday!

blackcatsdancing · 25/04/2012 11:46

that's ok limeleaf i often test daily or every other day once i reach a certain point in my cycle. I use the super cheap internet tests so not much money. They are very sensitive- 10 whatever the units are. I'll test again tomorrow unless temp stays down or AF arrives. Yes DP was a bit cheeky, i thought how unusual last night and again this morning, then when we'd finished he looked out of the window and said "oh no it's still pouring down", i jokily said "oh so that's why you wanted to have sex then?", he denied it was the only reason. I didn't mind at all, bring on more rain (especially around OV time) . A power cut too would be good.

blackcatsdancing · 25/04/2012 11:50

limeleaf so now you're in the awful 2WW, good luck, sounds like you got to have sex right time, and more than once ( we failed miserably this month due to bad colds) fingers crossed for you.

Treats · 25/04/2012 11:55

Hi blackcats - they would be testing for oestrogen and low levels of Follicle Stimulating Hormone on Day 3 and progesterone on Day 21. You can get the test done anytime between Day 3 and Day 5, so it doesn't matter if Day 3 is a Sunday. I got mine done at the GPs on Monday, but i could have gone to the walkin at the hospital if I hadn't been able to get an appt.

If you go to the GP for fertility issues, it would normally be the first test they do - and send your DP for a sperm test. My GP was very accommodating, but some can be a bit more difficult. I think the guideline is to start doing tests after 12 months of trying.

Pipbin - that's quite encouraging - hope she stays away!

Limeleaf - glad you managed to time it all right.

blackcatsdancing · 25/04/2012 14:43

thanks treats i've made an appointment for Monday just in case. I conceived in November but had a MMC. Since my ERPC my periods have been very weird. If my af this time is as light as the previous 2 have been i will definitely go on Monday , they've been very light with watery pink blood, the odd thing is this cycle i took the combined pill for 4 days then changed my mind (long story there) and the breakthrough bleed was like my normal periods, thicker, darker etc etc. It did start me wondering if my hormones are still messed up. Also, due to the endless spotting i had after the op I had acupuncture treatment twice to try and stop it and both practitioners advised me to get day 3 and day 21 tests done so that they had some more info to go on for treating me. As its almost 3 months since the ERPC i feel its enough time for things to have settled and to start having tests. I turned 44 in Feb, odds are not massively in my favour but i'm not ready to give up yet (i do have an adult child).

Pipbin · 25/04/2012 19:49

So some red spotting after a TMI ALERT poo.

And nothing since that.
I'm sure I'm not PG but if my temp is high and there is no AF tomorrow I'll test.
