Pipbin · 16/04/2012 22:45

Anyone else still out there? I'm getting lonely on the sledge on my own.

Wiggy29 · 16/04/2012 23:22

Coveredinflour- that's brilliant news, at least the roads will be quite if you're having the baby in hospital.perhaps Santa himself will even let u hitch a ride!

Rudeawakening- I've discovered from others on here that 99'9% of the time af is just lurking around, though I'm crossing my fingers that won't be the case for you.

So those of you expecting crimbo babies, what are you thinking for names? Noel? Holly? Donna? Dasher? Santa's Little Helper? X

Wiggy29 · 16/04/2012 23:24

Pippin- I think most of us are trying for Jan babies now although there may still be some New Year's Eve babies still lurking...? We need another list with all our dates on.

Rudawakening · 17/04/2012 07:29

wiggy I think you're right, no sign of her yet but haven't bothered testing again. Its probably just going to be a random longer cycle.

pip Fingers crossed for you for a Christmas baby!

Wiggy29 · 17/04/2012 10:27

Those who temp- do they generally go down a bit as af goes and does it make much difference if you take them earlier? Mine done down from 36.6 to 36.4 and was unsure if it was because af going or been taking at 7 not 9 as back to work.just started doing them when af came so not such what my average looks like yet.

Treats · 17/04/2012 11:23

Hi! Sorry to have gone AWOL for a few days - busy weekend and difficult to get to the computer.

Lovely high temp today - 97.9 (I'm a fahrenheit temper). I've been worrying that they're generally on the low side, but as long as there's plenty of progesterone swishing around in there post-ov, then i'm not too worried.

5DPO today - reckon I'll start thinking about testing next Monday. I suspect it's just me who'll be testing then?

coveredinflour - congratulations!! A proper Christmas baby. Be prepared for lots of people to say "Jesus Christ!" when you tell them that you're due to give birth on Christmas Day.........

Very interesting study of factors affecting ov (Can't remember who posted - sorry Blush). I was particularly interested in this:

"Intriguing evidence suggests that in conception cycles, ovulation always occurs within 24 hours of peak serum LH, but in non-conception cycles, this is pushed out to up to 48 hours later."

That suggests that it's pretty much our ovaries that decide when we're going to get pregnant, and all the carefully-timed DTDing and temp taking doesn't really make a blind bit of difference......

It's done it's work on me though. I haven't used an OPK before, but I think I might try it next cycle (if there is one.......)

Wiggy - temps often drop after menstruation - there's usually a bit of progesterone floating around while you're on, but it's all gone by the time the bleeding stops. I think you'll normally get a result that's about 1/10th of a degree colder for every half hour earlier you take your temp. But better to record a few temps and look at the pattern emerging than to worry about individual ones.

Pipbin - looked at your chart (I know you posted it a few days ago) but I think there's a good chance you ov'd on Day 17. Hard to be sure because you missed a few pre-ov, but they're definitely substantially higher than the ones before. And you haven't recorded any EWCM post-day 17. Do you think that might be right?

blackcatsdancing · 17/04/2012 13:04

treats i posted that. However i take isolated research findings with a pinch of salt as there are so many conflicting findings, the main consensus seems to be that the fertile window is 5 days pre ov ( with a smaller chance the further away you get) to day of ov. That's the generalised finding, however there are always going to be exceptions to that generalisation. I can't even start to think about the bit you quoted, that on top of egg being ok, sperm being ok, uterus being in good shape, implantation being sooner rather than later...does my head in. Timing i can control ! well to a certain extent.
Anyway i'm either 4 or 5 dpo. I'm thinking of testing next tuesday.

asianbabe · 17/04/2012 15:03

Hey everyone
I'm still here waiting for af to appear. I'm due tomorrow poas yesterday bfn and this morning with an Internet cheapie bfn too so doesn't look too promising. Will test again tomorrow just for the heck of it.

lastboxoftampons · 17/04/2012 15:26

Interesting bit of research blackcat but, I'm with you, too many factors to consider. May as well just DTD and fingers crossed! Grin

I've considered myself an experienced temper...but three days in with my new thermometer and I just can't get the hang of it! Taking at all sorts of times, waking in the middle of the night and taking temp, not reading properly, etc...my temps look super wacky. Treats Farenheit temper here too and mine are really low - 96.8 the first two days! But not sure what time I took it exaclty, might've been between 5 and 6 am! Blush I remember feverishly googling low temps when TTC#1 to find out what ELSE might be wrong with my body Hoping it's all fine now...

How is everyone doing?

Treats · 17/04/2012 17:24

ooh blackcats - we'll be poas buddies. I'm 5DPO too.

You're right - I should ignore that bit! And, as you say, you can't control it anyway, so what's the point of worrying about it.

LBOT - I don't take my temp if I wake in the middle of the night - I wait until 6.30 or so - my normal waking time. But I'm sure that's not quite right. I've had some 96.8s this cycle, but I don't think it's abnormally low......

asianbabe - sorry for your BFN. Hope AF stays away.

coveredinflour · 17/04/2012 18:29

Thanks for all the congratulations!

Treats - my best (male) friend has already told me I will have to call it Jesus (with Spanish pronunciation I'd it's born on Xmas Day)... Hmmm

Sorry for shortness of post but just wanted to pop in and say thanks. Am on hols for the next week so won't be around but keeping fingers crossed for many more BFPs here soon!!

lastboxoftampons · 17/04/2012 18:37

Treats - I don't actually take my temp in the middle of the night on purpose. The clock is on DH's side, so I never know what time it is, but I keep waking early and thinking it's time, it's time! I'm a bit of an eager temper Grin

Pipbin · 17/04/2012 20:27

Last thats exactly what I do!

Treats I'm thinking it was cd17 as well too. I missed so many temps because I was on holiday. However there was lots of ewcm and that vanished on day 17. And cd17 would put me at 5 dpo too!

Crazytictac · 17/04/2012 20:56

Weird thing - just got a text from a friend who i dont see that often as we live different parts of the country saying her pregnancy radar was on alert and am I pregnant?! She's got a knack for things like this so spooked me slightly. I did cave in today and yesterday and used my amazon cheapies but BFN. Think I'm 9 DPO (working on the 2nd peak reading on the fertility monitor a week ago Sunday).

Will try not to and spectacularly fail to get my hopes up now.

lastboxoftampons · 17/04/2012 21:54

Oooh, crazy that is spooky! When I was PG we hadn't told my family yet because we were going to see them for Thanksgiving and a few days before my mom sent me an email saying "Nan thinks you're pregnant" My nan is totally a witch! But I actually knew I was pregnant at that time. Also, with DS I tested at 10dpo and had a BFN and then positive at 12dpo. Fx!!!!

Wiggy29 · 17/04/2012 22:27

I wasn't going to test until af was actually late this month but I'm due 12th which happens to be weekend of one of my best friends hen parties.I'm going to test on lunch time of 12 (as af norm arrived with first wee of the day) & if it's pisitive great & if it's negative I can consoule myself with a gin (or 6).

Flightty · 18/04/2012 07:42

Just lurking here at all you still-to-poasers Smile

I have got up this morning to an email from my Mum. She thinks I am pregnant (among other things, which include being held hostage)

This is because I haven't spoken to her in depth about my relationship for about, erm, ten days.

I think I need that gin Wiggy.

Crazytictac · 18/04/2012 08:03

your Nan sounds a character lastbox! :o Strange how some people just seem to have a sense for it.

Sounds a good plan wiggy

flightty here's a Wine for you

Equimum · 18/04/2012 18:36

Am I too late to join?

I'm a newbie to MN. On third cycle of trying for DC#1. AF due 22nd April. Am really hopeful this month as had lots of cramping, feelingness and nausea most of this week, so have fingers well and truely crossed.

Pipbin · 18/04/2012 20:16

Heaven alone knows what is happening fertility friend really isn't convinced I've OV.
What do you think? [[http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/pipbin my chart]

homeaway · 18/04/2012 20:48

Wiggy, you have to take your temp at the same time every day, normally it will go up the later you sleep.

Pipbin · 18/04/2012 22:08

I'll try that again.
I've overlaid my charts so you can compare with previous months.

Pipbin · 18/04/2012 22:09

And again: my chart

I'm clearly updiffed as I keep doing such daft stuff.

Flightty · 18/04/2012 22:16

Pip, I have you pegged at 2 days before they do my friend.

I could be am probably wrong.

Welcome Equimum Smile yes very happy to have you!

Tictac, could not have been more grateful for your Wine you darling. Am not in bed yet and should be, so will say goodnight for now and here's to some decent temps in the morning, everyone x

Pipbin · 18/04/2012 22:25

I really don't know. I had stacks of ewcm, which dried up on cd17.
Also, I had been to the USA in the first half of my cycle and I'm sure that's what is throwing it off.
I put the ov line in there.
