Brilliant news PQ. I?ve been wondering all day how you got on.

Great news Choccy, about your dad too, and hopeful on your results.

What a gorgeous day. Took ds to the Princess Diana Memorial Playground today with a couple of friends and their dcs. They loved it but I?m completely done in. I can sympathise with the insomnia gang as I was wide awake for a large part of the night as well.

Sorry for lack of personals to others. Have to go and sort out ds?s tea.

GreenOlives · 22/03/2012 18:03

PQ fabulous scan news! Grin
And great that your dad is improving Choccy
I've decided that we must be Pred-effect twins Ari, I was just sitting here feeling really nauseous and allowing myself to day dream about it being morning sickness when I realised it was probably just the drugs! Don't know why I let myself get so excited every month only to be disappointed - I've been having tummy cramps all day and that coupled with my Eeyore mood is pretty conclusive evidence that AF is due to arrive! Did Mr S prescribe the Omperazole too? Might ask my NHS consultant to add that in for me tomorrow - best to be prepared!
Free Very impressed with the abs pre-pregnancy, I don't think I've had abs since I was about 12! And these days any hint of a muscle in my tummy is buried under a nice little fat layer Smile DS rather over-stretched me

Arianrhod · 22/03/2012 20:06

lol Olives ... I'm sitting here feeling actually so nauseous the thought of food is actually impossible. Was feeling mildly queasy on and off most of the day, then was at a playdate this afternoon with DD and just before we left their house DD started running circles around me. Made me feel instantly dizzy and utterly sick, which hasn't left me since. Wretched silly drugs! And yes, Mr S says to take Omeprazole to counter-effect any stomach-related issues. . The ladies are right - Louise gave choccy and I quite a lecture (in her very nice way of course) about the importance of taking it. Then why don't I? Well I know from first-hand experience that it can completely pile on the weight, and having managed to be a stone and a half heavier then at any point in my life (excluding being pg with DD) over the past two years, I rather baulk at taking anything else that puts on weight. But the ladies are quite right, and perhaps I should think about it. I promise if I ever again when I get my next BFP and go up to 40mg pred I will take it. I will.

free Well not sure I'm a good one to talk to about actual births since DD's was on the traumatic side, but afterwards it all went fine. I did have to have an episiotomy, but given that I was anesthetised right up to my chest at the time I didn't feel, and as long as you follow the nursing staff's recommendations (lavender oil in your bath), it heals remarkably quickly. Bizarrely the visiting midwife wanted to check the wound every time she came out to the house (once a week I think it was to start with), which was a bit odd, but I think by that point as has been mentioned earlier you just give up caring! And post-birth the 'bits' were generally fine and recovered very quickly, make good use of a bidet if you have access to one is my recommendation!

hopeful brilliant news about your NT results, that's always a great relief.

Sorry if I've missed personals, but big /waves to everyone.

Just updating me to waiting to test. On round 2 of Super Ov with two good follicles waiting in the wings and an ideal 10mm womb lining! As womb lining better this month I will leave of Cyclogest and take if a bfp comes along - bloody stuff is the pits!
BTW I didn't know Omeprazole caused more weight gain. I'm not touching it in that case and waiting till get tummy ache or have to go up to 40mg like ari could do withuot any more blubber accumulating.

Great news for all the good scans in last couple of days.

pq what a relief! im so happy for you and hopefully the spotting will stop so
you can have as much peace of mind as we get.

why dont you ladies want to take Omeprazole? i dint realise it made you put on weight , but i think every bloody thing we take does that, or it could be too much curry and not enough of exercise for me !

free i think i have abs too! the fact that they are buried under a couple of layers of fat is besides the point!! Grin

digi lol i can see you running and a little granny with her walking frame overtaking you, you know sometimes when i walk , i try and power walk( ha!)- too be more healthy! and people are ALWAYS overtaking me , i always put it down too my short little legs ( only 5 foot fa) then kids started overtaking me ! but i still pretend i dont see them , or they could be on speed and thats why they walk fast! get it !! speed..walking fast.. ok i also tell bad jokes ..

frozen lets start a running group , you cant join unless you run like a nutter!

GreenOlives · 23/03/2012 09:17

Morning ladies!

As predicted AF has arrived with a vengeance this morning Sad At least she had the decency to come first thing so I didn't waste a bloody expensive First Response! My cycle was only 29 days which is a day or two shorter than usual so the Pred doesn't seem to have lengthened my cycle which Loiuse mentioned might happen. Feel pretty deflated today but that's usual for CD1! Onwards and upwards now to cycle 34 of TTC#2 - sigh! Last chance for a 2012 baby too.

Free I also can't help much on the natural birth front as DS was forceps delivery due to shoulder dystocia (and a head circumference that was off the centile chart Shock) Obviously I had an episiotomy for that BUT I healed really quickly and well and have had no problems down there and absolutely no incontinence etc so please don't worry too much! Smile

Will update the list and move myself.

Aww olives, sorry for your witchy visitor this morning, just goes to show all these bloomin' symptoms really don't mean bugger all :( hugs and as you say, onwards and upwards for the next one, fingers crossed!

OP posts:
Coconutfeet · 23/03/2012 09:48

Sorry to hear AF has arrived olives.

Digi - I didn't say congrats yesterday on being able to get into the birthing centre! I'm really hoping to be able to get into the midwife-led unit this time too. I started in it last time but had to be transferred as ds was in distress and they needed to do more monitoring.

Free - I just wanted to reassure you about the birth thing. I don't know if ds's birth counts as "natural" or not (vaginal delivery but with epidural due to syntocin drip to speed up labour as bp high and waters had broken some time before), but the after-effects were fine. I did have some stitches and was really worried about peeing etc but it was all fine. I was amazed that I was up and about and feeling pretty good only hours afterwards. If you do get a bit of stress incontinence it's easily sorted out with exercises. Definitely make sure you do your pelvic floor exercises now though. And one of the best things about having actually delivered the baby is being able to do a proper wee for the first time in months rather than feeling desperate to go and only managing a trickle. Absolute bliss. I'm already looking forward to that moment!

willitbe · 23/03/2012 10:23

TMI with birth stories below sorry , please forgive me for posting but I want to encourage Free that there are positive birth stories. Hope it doesn't upset anyone.

Free - I have had three births now and they have all been different. My last one was bliss, did not realise I was in labour for the first half hour, had the baby within the next hour (no pain relief) at home due to it happening so fast. Tucked into my own bed snuggled with the baby all within 3 hours from very first twinge. Very little afterpains, and only the slightest of bruising down below, which was ok within a day or so. Labour does not have to be awful. I think that you have to just be prepared to go with the flow of the labour, and don't panic.

I made the mistake of panicking with my first birth. I had a long labour in the end and became exhausted. Ended up with epidural and vontuse birth. If I had had better midwife and been encouraged and reassured that things were ok and to keep moving and try bath etc, the birth could have been different. I was not prepared for the contractions to come one on top of another I was expecting them to gradually get closer together, not suddenly have two in a row. But hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I did tear with the first birth, and it was very sore for a couple of weeks afterwards. Warm water is your friend with stitches! With my second birth I tore along the same place, but due to having another child to look after and keeping moving and I healed much quicker, within a week the pain was negligible. Avoiding the pain afterwards with staying still, does not help promote faster healing, but it is what you feel like doing.

I did not tear with the last birth, and I am convinced that this was due to using EPO capsules internally in the 48hours before birth. I know it softened everything down below, allowing it all to stretch better. Considering that I gave birth to a baby 2lbs heavier than the previous two, there was something different. I hope I have reassured you that after the birth is not as bad as you fear. And the baby and tiredness are a great distraction from the ouches!

digitalgirl · 23/03/2012 10:46

Sorry to hear that GO Sad. I conceived on my second cycle of pred - so lets hope you have similar luck Smile.

Just checking list - are there no scans coming up? And should we move hopeful (yay low risk) and dunnit to 2nd trimester too? I think its 13 weeks isn't it or is it 13+3?

Currently soaking carseat cover in a bucket of diluted dettol. Need to vacuum house as we have a playdate this afternoon. But for now I'm off for a coffee with my mum in the sunshine.

batteryhen · 23/03/2012 11:01

Morning all.

Sorry to hear Af has arrived GO. - next cycle for you my lovely :)
PQ brilliant news on the scan - that wil reassure you for a matter of hours no doubt!!
digi - My 20 week scan is next week - eeeek! I will up date the list in a minute.

I have nothing to report -my bump seems to be showing a bit more in the past couple of days which is nice.

Can I ask - when people started buying stuff for their baby? I am almost 20 weeks but have bought nothing. I intend to go baby shopping next week but don't really know where to start!

Cheerfulcharlie · 23/03/2012 14:49

I'm really happy to hear about the good scan news from everyone. Brilliant.

It's good to read all these good birthing stories too. I am hoping to start my hypnobirthing classes in a few weeks.

Battery i started buying stuff a bit before 20 weeks. If you write a list of everything you want to buy there's so much I really feel the need to be getting on with it. Especially as I might not feel like trailing round the shops in the last trimester too much.

ChoccyPud · 23/03/2012 16:23

Buying stuff and giving birth still seem somewhere way over the horizon of other people's lives never mind being something I might get to do one day... I can only seem to see as far as the hope of having a not-definitely-bad scan one day.

Sorry, that probably sounds a bit self centred - you guys know it's not that I'm not delighted people can get there after all the trauma we've been through. Just it feels so far away still for me.

snoopygirl · 23/03/2012 17:23

choccy i know what you mean

GO sorry for you af turning up. Sad

ari how are you feeling today?

Digi can't believe your almost there!

Can I ask a question? Do we know if anyone has had any success with just being on Hydroxychloroquine on this thread? Can't see any on list.

batteryhen · 23/03/2012 19:43

choccy don't forget I know how you feel too - I have lost 4 babies in 2 years, so I think that's why I can't get motivated -being pregnant does not necesarily mean a baby at the end of it for me.

ChoccyPud · 23/03/2012 21:14

I totally empathise with how you feel battery - it's all about baby steps at all stages along this journey (pardon the pun!)... I wouldn't worry too much about the logistics, I'm sure it'll all fall into place over the coming months x

GreenOlives · 23/03/2012 21:21

Digi I just misread your post and thought that you were soaking the carseat in petrol not dettol! Grin Grin In my defence I feel VERY sleep deprived today - I think I may be missing my Pred boost!

Appt with consultant went well. He is happy to support Mr S's treatment plan although he wants me to arrange the meds through my GP which I think she will be happy to do and if when I'm pregnant he will do all the regular scans etc so that will save us a pretty penny! He also wants me to have a lap & dye so that he can thoroughly check out my remaining tube. On the report of my HSG back in Sept last year it said that they hadn't captured an image of the dye spilling through my right tube but the conclusion was "presumed bilateral tubal patency" Seeing as I only have the right tube left he wants to be sure there is absolutely no probs there. So I went straight from my appt to pre-op assessment and I just have to wait to be sent a date now! Don't relish the thought of the surgery but I love that my consultant is so thorough and the procedure itself seems to increase fertility for the 3 cycles afterwards so that has to be a bonus!

Hope you all have lovely weekends planned. DH and I are off to a wedding tomorrow, think I may struggle with my alcohol-free March resolution!

ChoccyPud · 23/03/2012 21:36

PIWNIB report: on going for my millionth wee of the day I have just noticed that my knickers are inside out. 'Nuff said.

digitalgirl · 23/03/2012 21:53

choccy Like!

GO great to have such a supportive consultant! Good luck with lap & dye.

coconut hopefully second time round will be quicker for you so baby will be born before there's time to get distressed.

battery wow 20 week scan next week already! Does it somehow feel less daunting now that youve had the amnio? Re: buying stuff, am lucky that I didn't have to buy much but I think I bought an Ergo sling at about 24/26-ish weeks.

Still have to get a new changing mat - the one we have is battered. Must remind DH tomorrow.

mercator · 24/03/2012 07:20

PQ fabulous news re Scan!!!

battery. I was so superstitious with my first after having a mc first I only bought stuff at around 30 weeks and left everything bagged with labels and receipts. Even left the steriliser boxed downstairs when going into hospital so husband had to work it out at 3am after baby was home! Possibly wouldn't advise that ;-). I did have my list though. Probably going to be much the same this time.

greenolive. Good luck with the lap and dye!

Can I ask ladies further along how you'd feel about holidaying at just over 6 months. Went sailing whilst pg first time at 23 weeks and that was fine but worried I'm going to be enormous. Not planning sailing this time but still a little apprehensive.

mercator · 24/03/2012 07:30

battery just thought I better add I wouldn't advise what I was like and buy when ever you feel ready to. I did have all babies clothing washed and laundered whilst on maternity leave. Special moment that one all those teeny tiny things. I am sure I won't be as bad as I have popped in to have a look when I'm near a baby dept and do have a lots of things fm my first. Do have fun with it though! ;-)

duggs1976 · 24/03/2012 09:36

Hello all. Just popping in to say hi. I am currently on day 9 of ivf cycle. I have 10 follicles looking good size and 3 more with potential. Lots of injections but bc of high/v high boarder diagnosis I am now having intralipids - literally laying here at NLC with drip in arm. Also need to start clexane inj tonight and then 40mg pred in a few days. Probably have egg collection on Friday. Hope this works I need a new mortgage to cover this Wink hope u doing ok I still lurk on here seeing how u r all doing very much hoping to join u in April xGrin

igggi · 24/03/2012 09:42

Just trying to catch up - really pleased for your scan news PQ this does seem to be getting off to a decent start doesn't it. Wishing you many more to come Smile
Birth story-wise I can extoll the virtues of a (planned) c section - no subsequent "probs" down-below, though I think the scar might be more of an issue for Free than it is for me! (As someone who has never worn a bikini).
I do like to keep you entertained with my panics/scares - Thurs/Fri saw a definite decrease in movements for me, nothing seemed to wake the baby up, so by Friday I was paying another visit to maternity hospital. They did a heart trace thing for an hour and all was well - strange I'm lying there listening to all these bangs (which are movements) on the monitor but could not feel them outside. Midwives make you feel like you've done the right thing in having it checked out, so I would recommend if any of you have worries not to suffer at home. They are able to be much more reassuring in 2nd/3rd trimester than in first, I've found.

freelancegirl · 24/03/2012 10:06

Just a quickie from me as here at nan?s for her birthday but Battery I haven?t bought anything yet at 22 weeks but have been given a few things. I don?t think I will be buying anything for a while but I have certainly allowed myself to relax enough to look at things in the shops! And DH is still going a bit Clarkson on potential buggies. Oh and also we need to look for a new house ☺ I don't think it matters when you start buying things. If you want to go ahead now, do so and enjoy it.

Duggs that?s so bloody exciting about the IVF! I can?t believe how quickly it has all been organised. Testament to your finely tuned organisational skills I imagine. Techncally you are still TTC on Pred so please hang around!

Great that baby is behaving the way it should do Iggi. Yes I am sure it IS worth getting everything checked out. Don?t they stop moving so much a bit later on anyway as they have a bit less room? I have been having quite a few bumps over the last couple of days but didn?t get any this morning when I usually do so had to get the Doppler out.

Merc I am probably the wrong (or the right!) person to advise as I am a firm believer in holidays and travelling! Do go ahead with your holiday! Can I ask where it will be to? I would perhaps be a bit more wary of, say, India or somewhere you might pick up a stomach bug or have to avoid malaria but anywhere clean and safe would be fab!

Mmm Olives, am rather jealous of the wedding outing and the non-alcohol-free March.

Choccy, knickers inside out is definitely a very good good luck sign!

Loving the idea of Digi soaking the car seat in petrol. Am thinking Extreme Cleaning ☺

Snoopy I am not sure if anyone has been just o Hydroxy, I think as it is quite new we don?t really know that yet. I know Charlie has not been on Pred but just on intralipids. Why, are you thinking of just going down that route. See what the Wizard of Oz Mr S has to say?

No scans coming up for me Digi. Actually could you and the others ahead of me (or have been ahead of me in terms of other children before) tell me what should normally happen in terms of scans? After the 20 week one is that it, for normal pregnancies? I need to arrange an appt with Mr S at Epsom but I am not sure whether that would involve a scan. I would definitely like a couple more if I can have them! I know FMC did mention coming back at 32 weeks I think.

Gosh, it might be because I have been pregnant more or less non stop since January 2011 but the fact that I still have 18 weeks to get to full term in this pregnancy feels like a long time! Some days I feel really pregnant, and others I don?t feel pregnant a tall. Just a bit bloated.

Right, got to run xx
