Apparently we have been upgraded to a blueberry this week, size-wise, bean :o

whimsicalname · 21/02/2012 09:16

Morning all.

Hope you have a better day today maybe. Do you know my friend Katie? She did pain at Oxford. Spent her whole Phd electrocuting undergraduates. Lucky thing. Actually don't answer that. Would be too wierd to have friends in common. Presumably it's a large field.

Hello especially to beedle and sweetie who I think i very rudely left out of my last post. Hope you have a good day too.

I feel like I've just won the time lottery. I came in at 7 to hammer out a journal paper that needs doing today. Well, technically it needs doing in January, but there you go. I thought I'd have an hour out at 9 to go the croissant seminar, but it's cancelled. But, now hold on, there are STILL CROISSANTS. I'm a bit over excited.

SweetieDoesIt · 21/02/2012 09:21

Morning all

Far sorry about the timing of things for later in the week, why don't you get some lovely treats in for later in the week. Or plan to make you and DH a nice meal that takes a bit of preparing and something out of the ordinary. Just an idea.

Beedle must have been morning SWI causes temps to remain the same. Are you back to hotel living for a few days?

Maybe what is up? why the tears? hope you are ok my dear.

Back from the GP appointment, GP was happy to refer me. Didn't really say much other than she hopes it happens while we are waiting for the appointment I did wonder if she was a MNer she did say early to bed, late to rise and actually winked at me ShockBlush. But she offered me a choice of where I was referred, I didn't expect that. I am not sure if I should look at the different places, if you can do that even, or just to stick to where they send me as that is bigger (Leeds) so might get an appointment sooner.

Off to Google options and see if it is worth changing before the actual appointment.

whimsicalname · 21/02/2012 09:23

I thought you were going to say she offered you a choice of places to dtd sweetie

Now that would be worth a wink!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 21/02/2012 09:35

Sweetie that's great that your GP was so helpful. But she's right, you will be preggers by then anyway Smile

Cake lots of luck today, thanks for reminding us Pop

And a blueberry you say Smile

Whim that is a win-win situation!! Finished paper and croissants!

I don't think I know your friend, though I do know pain people at Oxford.

The tears were due to the fact that my boss also thinks I don 't have enough data for a thesis. He said he had noticed that I don't seem to be enjoying it anymore, and everything came out about the MC and it all snowballed. So I don't know what to do at the moment. He took responsibility for the fact that he has messed me around this year with regards to a project. To cut a long story short, I only came back to the PhD a year ago after 7 months out due to a horrible knee injury (running, self-inflicted) and my boss had given my projects away. While he thought for something for me to do, he gave me bits and pieces which I can't use in my thesis. So it is all a mess. A big mess.

I shall stop being me me me now Smile

Oh, and I forgot to add earlier. Everytime I am ill/sore throat my DH also says he has the perfect cure. Men, they're all the same Wink

ScarlettInSpace · 21/02/2012 09:48

I had to tell you all - I woke up and complained my back was aching a bit this morning, only for OH to offer me his 'internal back support' Grin Grin

Needless to say, halfway through AF & with a dodgy tummy, I think you can all guess what response he got [turnbackoverandhitsnooze]

whimsicalname · 21/02/2012 10:00

It's really good to have that all out in the open maybe. If your supervisor can take some of the responsibility, surely he can help you work to finding a way to get some proper data? And I bet the smaller bits you have could work as pilots or something?

Most people struggle with far too much data to then write up about, so possibly you could get some mileage out of really interrogating the data you have? My BIL did his on some plant mechanism, and deliberately killed off his plants after a while because he'd got bored of them. then he took to shoplifting for fun

He also needs to take some responsibility for you not enjoying it so much, and help you get back into your stride. That's what he's there for. It's tough taking time out - I've done it twice - but doesn't mean you're doomed from continuing. You've done too much to throw it all away. Also, it's in your dept's interest that you finish, as they are penalised on non-completions. Remind him of this. And do you have REF coming up? All my supervisors have their knickers in a total twist over this even though I've co-authored them on 3 published papers and I imagine it carries similar weight where you are.

Right, on with it. The paper isn't exactly written yet

PopcornMouse · 21/02/2012 10:05

early to bed, late to rise and actually winked at me Classic :o
And Internal back support :o :o

Oh whims :d I was actually dreaming about danish pastries last night, I kid you not.

beangrower · 21/02/2012 11:06

Now Whimsi - I'm afraid it's only a croissant (or ten).

Scarlett - I think your OH needs the odd cold shower. Actually, apparently does a world of good for the spermies.

A blueberry - ah, bless.

Imps7 · 21/02/2012 13:19

Oh Maybe you poor thing . What happens now with your phd? If you need more data on pain, I hurt my ankle playing netball yesterday - do you want me to send you all the details? I hope that there is some way around the obstacles - Whims seems to know what's what! Oh, and surely knowing The Pain People at Oxford will stand you in good stead!

Hopefully now you've had a one to one with your boss he may act as less of a cock towards you and more of a support.

A blueberry Pops!! How very cute! I went to uni with a girl called Blueberry - I actually think it's quite a pretty name, if downright weird a little unusual.

Sweetie, glad you've been referred - are you feeling more positive about things? Must be quite rare to be given a choice of referrals - I'm sure Dr Google will give you some advice about the options.

Whims sounds like a result to me. Last time a seminar that I had been due to attend was cancelled, I'd driven 1.5 hours to get there (in the shitty work pool car which didn't have a radio), got lost around the one way system in Birmingham, couldn't find anywhere to park for ages and had then sat in the conference room for about 10 minutes declining all the offers of wine before it was announced that the speaker had got the wrong day. On my way home I got lost getting out of Birmingham again and the fuel light came on without me having the slightest clue where the next petrol station was. I was not in the best of moods by the time I got home, needless to say.

You all seemingly have very rude OHs!! Apart from you Bean - sounds like you had a miraculous escape from a very very difficult marriage. Was your wedding cancelled 3 days before the event, or have I got that wrong?

Well our SWI schedule has potentially gone to pot - OH really wanted a shag last night. I tried to tell him that we're not supposed to start until tonight in order to keep on track, but he wasn't having any of it. Hopefully we'll still SWI tonight and then we will be back onto the start our every-second-day shagtic. Happily his knee was okay - he took some ibuprofen which sorted it out.

OP posts:
beangrower · 21/02/2012 13:40

Imps - perhaps you're OH intuitively knows something you don't and last night might have been the winning shag, eh? You are clearly in synch as you hurt your ankle playing netters just to keep up with his poorly knee. How very empathetic of you.

Actually the wedding ceremony was cancelled but we still ended up having a party with all our guests in the hotel (in a remote bit of Wales with a crazy thunderstorm for full effect). Was almost fun, except we split up a week later when he... well let's just say it was a straw that broke the camel's back. If I was very clever I would write an exceedingly funny novel about it. Grin I myself am a bit of a rude one, which is prob why I got involved with a psycho sex addict. Moving on to better times though - DP is the most unusual man I know: he is not seemingly at all obsessed with sex. We are very great friends. He is also the only man I know whose opinion I rate (and thus am able to go to the cinema with him, or discuss stuff - you know the normal stuff that couples do, but I couldn't before because I was too busy curling my toes and passing out with irritation...) And his jokes are funny. Sometimes I wish we were blessed with a bit more raunch in our lives, but that's not how the penny has dropped. I am extremely lucky to be in a stable, warm, funny relationship with a man who is also a lovely daddy. Imps - sorry, that was a much longer answer than you (or me) expected.

beangrower · 21/02/2012 13:42

There is someone on this planet who is actually called Blueberry?? Shock Shock

Imps7 · 21/02/2012 13:44

Bean what lovely words, you ol' romantic, you!

OP posts:
Imps7 · 21/02/2012 13:46

Indeedy Bean - she's from the USofA.

OP posts:
whimsicalname · 21/02/2012 13:55

Don't get started on 'unusual' names.

I know a woman whose kids are called Kahlua and Dejeuner. They don't even have the excuse of being American.

Imps7 · 21/02/2012 14:00

Grin Grin Grin Whims!!!

A couple more from me - a friend of mine taught twin girls - one called Gin, the other called Tonic, and another friend of mine went to uni with a lad by the name of Randy Cheeks!

OP posts:
SweetieDoesIt · 21/02/2012 14:01

Bean that is lovely that you have such a great relationship now, very lucky indeed.

GrinGrinGrin at Imps "helping out" Maybe in her pain study. Also Scarlett was in pain earlier Maybe you could include Mr Scarletts suggestions!!! Would make for an interesting viva Blush if nothing else. Wink

I have made enquiries and decided on the larger place, as the smaller does only the initial tests and procedures (HSG etc) then would need to go to the larger place for any "real" treatment such as IVF. Decision made. now just wait for the referral letter to come through 18 weeks the receptionist saidShock

SweetieDoesIt · 21/02/2012 14:04

Sorry Whims x post.

There was a thread on discussion board on quirky name, no one mentioned those though GrinGrin or those Imps mentions like something out of Footballers Wives

whimsicalname · 21/02/2012 14:07

Yeah, they always disintegrate into horrible chav baiting. MN at its worst. Although they're good for a laugh. My fave was La-a (pronounced Ladasha - actually not that bad a name)

What I love about the brookers is that it's like a (civilised) microcosm of MN at large - cake / food, craft, AIBU (partic with today's chat of husband's cures) medical advice and I don't know what else.

Imps7 · 21/02/2012 14:11
OP posts:
SweetieDoesIt · 21/02/2012 14:12

How do you get Ladasha from La-a?

I have to watch from a distance myself too. MN can be quite a scary place. Mr Whims very brave going on AIBU

SweetieDoesIt · 21/02/2012 14:13

OOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGG - just got it!!! Blush

Imps7 · 21/02/2012 14:14
  • is a dash Sweetie!!

That's just brilliant, that is. Love it.

OP posts:
PopcornMouse · 21/02/2012 14:17

Goodness, how do you get from La-a to Ladasha? And Tonic, really? Shock

18 weeks isn't too bad sweetie it's 6 months here, and it will give you a bit longer to conceive naturally too :)

I think you've got the better end of the deal bean I'd rather have a warm and funny man that I could watch films with than a bit of raunch :)

PopcornMouse · 21/02/2012 14:18

Ohhhhhhhh I geddit
