Smacket on, ladies...

OP posts:
farfallarocks · 12/03/2012 08:32

Hi gals, back from the most wonderful holiday which really helped with the lack of mentalling. Poor DH was forced to analyses loo paper though 'er yes, farfalla, that is just pee, no, there is no hint of brown' Blush

6 week scan on Weds (metal) just to check its not ectopic as apparently on heparin that can be fairly catastophic, I know it might be too early to see a heartbeat so am trying to prepare myself for that.

No symptoms really other than sore booboge, right off to read what I have missed this week with the brookers!!!

Imps7 · 12/03/2012 08:49

Oh huff and indeed puff - puncture on my bicycle. Gaaaah, not a good way to start the week. Although that said, at least it gives me a "good reason" to work from home today (having been told that I'm not allowed to work from home during my notice period without a good reason).

Far Grin re: DH's forced analysis of bog roll!! It doesn't even occur to me that starting intently at used toilet paper is weird/abnormal/disgusting any more - I do it every time I go to the loo, even before there's any chance that I've ovulated!! Brooking super extra hard for your scan on Weds. Can't believe it's 6 weeks already!

Oh and glad you had a super holiday - remind me where you went (brain like a sieve, sorry).

Gosh little what a night! Shock

Oh cupcakes that's really rough :( On a positive note, it's evidence for sperm meeting egg successfully? So this month is bound to be The One :)

Really sorry to hear you're having a tough time shiny :(
I'm with maybe I dont think it's too late - the "implantation" (I assume) cramping with my bfp was on 12DPO, looking back at my chart, so I don't think it automatically rules out a successful pregnancy at all. Did you confirm your chemicals by POAS? I'd go to the GP if it happens a third time, I seem to remember far having several chemicals before her blood disorder was diagnosed.

scarlett Shock at 9 weeks it would totally be a baby to me, too. Men, eh!

Enjoy your hollibobs sweetie !

I think that's totally, 100% normal and you shouldn't beat yourself up over it at all. You'll get there soon, I'm sure of it.
Could you do cheesecake with gluten free biscuits in the base?

sparkle fwiw I don't think you can diagnose hypothyroidism from low waking temps without having already established a benchmark for yourself ? i.e. you could only diagnose it if you knew that your temps were normally higher, but you started seeing a trend for lower ones over a few subsequent months iyswim - because everyone's body temps are different, and what's low for one person is normal for another. But that's just a personal opinion, no basis in fact :o
Are you temping orally? It might be worth a go doing it fanjolly next cycle, you might get steadier temps :)

Eeeeeee far! That's so exciting ? good luck! I have my first MW appt Wednesday, I'm super excited too. Someone on the Oct 2012 thread heard their baby's heartbeat at her first MW appointment but she was 11+4 and I'll only be 10+2 :)

PopcornMouseInBoots · 12/03/2012 09:42

Those of you with kids already - I'm sort of thinking I'd like to continue to work until the very last minute. I work from home so no commute etc, and I can "manage" my comfort levels iyswim. Is that crazy and entirely unrealistic? Should I be planning to finish work before that?

Work requires we tell them by 12 weeks instead of the legal 20; so I feel I kind of need to have a vague idea of my intentions when I tell my boss iyswim Shock

ScarlettInSpace · 12/03/2012 10:02

popcorn I don't think your boss camnn expect you to know now how you are going to feel 6/7 months away - you don't know how the pregnancy is going to make you feel as it progresses, some women sail through, others have to finish early...

Maybe say you feel ok at the moment so can't see why you'd have to finish too early but you'll see how you feel in a couple of months when you're further down the line?

whimsicalname · 12/03/2012 10:04

Morning all
Good to see you back far.

pop I've always carried on until 3 weeks before, although i've used up a bit of holiday before that to drop down a day or two. in the last couple of weeks, i've tended to want to sleep a lot because I won't have been sleeping well at night by then.

And you need to factor in time to cook 37 casseroles to put in the freezer (compulsory) and to clean the underneath of shelves in cupboards you never look in, even though you (well, me) are usually a total slattern. They don't tell you that in the maternity books.

Good for you working from home imps. I hope that includes watching a film at lunch time.

You've inspired me to dig out our NT membership sparks. Although there's always a slight frisson taking my kids anywhere breakable.

Hello everyone else. I've been reading and lurking over the weekend, but inevitably can't remember a thing anyone's said.

We're being very slack this month. I'm not sure whether or not I've ov'd or not. I keep meaning to get some cheapy sticks on which to pee, but as I can't even remember to take my vits at the mo, that seems a bit like forethought.

ScarlettInSpace · 12/03/2012 10:29

Have any of you brought a puppy into a house with cats? Could do with some advise [yep we bought a pup at the weekend] bring him home in 4 weeks. I'd ask on the pet section but I had look there last night and am thinking if I ask in the cat section I'll get flamed for upsetting the poor cats and if I ask on the dog section I'll get flamed for upsetting the poor dog, there doesn't seem to be any common ground... TIA x

NoMaybeAboutIt · 12/03/2012 10:47

Morning all!

Generic I am indeed on the sofa in pjs, so no need to come after me Grin Very excited for your confirmation in 10 days time.

Far lovely to have you back. Sounds like you had a lovely, much needed break. I'm with Imps checking toilet roll is an everyday occurrence Grin 6 weeks already! I am brooking hard for you my dear.

Imps boo to the bike, but yay for a day at home. Working of course.... Wink

Whim have you still got the builders destroying stuff?

Pop Will your boss want to know how long you are planning on working so early on? I also say wait and see how you feel.

Sparks are you temping orally? I couldn't do it as my temps were all over the place (I sleep like a fish) maybe try fanjolly and see how you get on?

Scarlett a puppy!! What are you getting? Have the puppies been reared around other animals? e have two house rabbits, so we were worried when we brought the pup home, but if anything, he thinks he is a rabbit, eats their food and tries to get in their hutch, then looks upset at why they don't like him Grin I would just say get them used to each other very slowly, let the cats have their place, and the pup his/hers. And always have him on a lead at first when they are getting to know each other. Very exciting, I bet you can't wait!

whimsicalname · 12/03/2012 10:52

You lot are making me broody for puppies now.

ScarlettInSpace · 12/03/2012 11:11

He is a pug cross JR, sooo sweet, can't wait to bring him home! I'm going to send them a small cuddly toy to put in the puppy basket for a couple of weeks with the litter so he has a familiar smell [plus he was flopped across his brother resting when we left, apparently he always sleeps on one of them Grin ]. I think for the first few weeks if they are left alone in the house I will let the cats have the kitchen [plus that's where the catflap is] and he can have the living room, although that does give him a lot of things to chew and wee on Grin OH won't let me call him Colin Grin maybe Butch or Killer or Jaws lol

Imps7 · 12/03/2012 11:11

Hmm I'm not working from home today - apparently I am still so pivotal to the team that one partner will not be able to cope by herself in the office this afternoon when the other partner who is not on holiday this week goes to a client meeting, so I have been required to come in. It's funny how I've managed to cope by myself in the office on numerous occasions before. I am clearly more competent than they are. Angry

Pops tell your work to eff off. They can't override legislation in terms of "requirements". Give them an idea of your aims by all means, but they cannot hold you to it.

Scarlett what sort of puppy is it???? Oooooh how cute!

OP posts:
ScarlettInSpace · 12/03/2012 11:12

[He's being brought up with his Mum & Dad & there are 2 small kids in the house but no other animals]

Imps7 · 12/03/2012 11:13

X-post Scarlett. How about Jay-Z? That's a nice name for a puppy. I always wanted a kitten called J-Lo, but OH said no to both the kitten and the name :(

OP posts:
ScarlettInSpace · 12/03/2012 11:17

imps a guy at OH's work keeps adopting rescue kittens and names them all after rappers Grin

NoMaybeAboutIt · 12/03/2012 11:17

Imps I am Angry for you. But it obviously shows just how much they are going to miss you when you are gone Wink How many day is it now...!

Scarlett ah, he sounds amazing! We fully expect photos when you bring him home Grin I think they will get on fine, it may just take some time to get there! We call Otis Jaws all the time. I'm sure you can figure out why! We leave him in the hall way when we are out. Nothing to chew, and it's small enough for him to feel secure apparently.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 12/03/2012 11:19

Grin Imps

Imps7 · 12/03/2012 11:30

18 working days and counting Maybe. In a way I'm glad that they keep being such arses towards me as it just makes me feel more certain than ever that I've done the right thing.

Deep breaths, imps. 18 days isn't too long at all. Just think how quickly that would rush by if you were on holiday.

No puppies for us maybe. My husband would love one, but we are planning on doing lots of travelling about in america, and having a puppy would be restrictive. Also they grow up into dogs. Did you see Lauren Laverne on Room 101? She wanted to put adult animals in (clearly in a humorous way). I kind of see her point.

The builders are done, thanks. We now have a very decked garden, which is not ideal, but a step up from the very boggy garden we had before.

CupcakesAndCocktails · 12/03/2012 12:12

Hello smacketeers!
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I had a very odd one. TMI alert-My AF was so painful, I normally get diahrrea with it and pains in my bottom. Anyway it was a lot worse than usual and I was bleeding from my bottom. I went to the doctors, ended up in hospital on sat. I was on an emergency trauma list. While waiting the bleeding and pain eased so they cancelled me and let me come home. I've got to go in for a routine scope in a few weeks. Everyone was really nice but I've never been so Blush in all my life. They don't know what was wrong, they said it sounded like piles but couldn't find any evidence of that on examination Confused

Now I've probably made you all feel sick I'll move on Grin

Far so pleased to hear you are ok, I'm brooking extra hard for you for weds. Grin for getting MrFar involved in pants checking.

Imps so sorry to hear about AF but yay for only 18 days left in your stupid job Smile

Shiny lovely to see you back, am very sorry to hear about the two chemicals. I feel very distant from mine, I don't think it's really sunk in yet.

Scarlett ooh the pup sounds gorgeous. It's had me reminiscing about getting my doggy. Even though she's all grown up now my dog is still super cute.

Maybe I think a duvet day is just what you need, hope your starting to feel better.

Generic excellent rat smacking Wink now sit back and wait for that BFP.

Pop could you save some holiday and use that for the last few weeks? I see your point that as you work from home you may well be able to work longer than a lot of woman. Anyway if you find your struggling you will be able to finish early than you planned.

Bean how are you? Where are you at in the rat smacking game?

shinyblackgrape · 12/03/2012 13:23

Far - delighted to hear your happy news! Sorry, I'm quite late. Have been off line quite a bit due to work etc.

Imps - how annoying re work. However, every day is one less there and you might get a nice leaving present Grin

Cups - sorry, I missed your post re the chemical pregnancies. It's horrible. You get a BFP and then the AF pains start and you just know what's going to happen......

Secret/Scarlett - I want a puppy too! There is a doggy daycare where I live and they come and pick your puppy up and bring it back home. DH still refusing. He had said we can get a cat but I hate cats (sorry cat lovers) so still hoping I can persuade him re the puppy........

popcorn - congrats too! I did confirm with lots of stick pee-ing and have kept them all to avoid GP thinking I am a delusional hypochondriac! I think I really need to start temping. I have the thermometer but keep forgetting to do it. Also, not very mathamatical so not sure I'll be able to read the chart properly. Is it worth starting now? Am about 6 - 8 days before AF. If not, can start next cycle.

Maybe - hope you are enjoying your pj day!

Sorry if I've missed anyone!

shinyblackgrape · 12/03/2012 13:25

OMG - Cups - that sounds horrific. Could it be endometriosis? Don't want to panic you and don't have a clue but it seems a bit coincidental that the bleeding was at the same time as as AF?
