ok, as the january thread reached 1800 posts exactly, well it did at last count, I think it's time we started the February thread. Now February has lots going for it, valentines, extra reasons for BD, it only has 28 days, the average length of a menstral cycle, .. so me thinks feb will be a very positive month for all of us!

Happy BD to all! (((hugs))) xxx

Well, I wouldn't say not allowed as such, but you're advised not to eat certain things .. shellfish, because it can contain listeria , unpasturised cheese such as stiltern, things that contain raw eggs, but that doesn't include shop bought mayonaise as that's made from pasturised eggs, liver, because that contains too much vitamin a. Ironically 20 years ago women were told to eat lots of liver because it contained lots of iron, now they're told not to eat it at all. most of these things are just advisery as they can contain certain bacteria, I think liver is the only definite no-no

Whats wrong with tuna and cucumber?

I just loved my bump, and of course by the time you are really big the baby is giving proper big kicks that DH/P can feel, and you can see your belly moving, I just loved it!!! The only thing I hated (with a passion) about the bump was the strecth marks, not so much the look of them, but the feel, they itched like mad when they were appearing, kept me awake many nights just scratching and scratching sometimes they would bleed YUK YUK YUK!!! Not looking forward to that again!!!

mumswish · 02/02/2006 15:27

I'm looking forward to getting the bump to be honest, I've got a fair belly but I'm still looking forward to having a proper bump.

at the mo DP looks more pg than most women! lol

wuzzlefraggle · 02/02/2006 15:28

isnt there special types of creams that can be bought to help with stretch marks? im sure that ive seens adverts

wuzzlefraggle · 02/02/2006 15:29

hahahahahaha!! mumswish, snap with my DP!! i keep asking hm when hes due

NatalieJane · 02/02/2006 15:30

Have you seen those plaster-cast things you can get for the bump? I really want to do one of those, I had never heard of them first time round and looking back now I would have loved to have had one then!

Liver? My midwife said to eat as much of it as I could, bearing in mind I hate everything about it and always have I managed to eat quite a bit of it!!

mumswish · 02/02/2006 15:30

cant have tuna too much, I eat it everyday and not allowed,

I've got stretch marks to start with anyway, lol. When I was pg last time I got stretch marks within 1 month of knowing I was pg and I was eating less, I've still got them but they're a nice colour now! lol

NatalieJane · 02/02/2006 15:32

AFAIK the creams aren't really that good, I did use cocoa butter which helped to soothe it a bit but I still got stretch marks everywhere so it can't do very much in the way of stopping them, horrid things they are!

wannaBe1974 · 02/02/2006 15:32

I had a very easy pregnancy as well, didn't really have morning sickness but was quite nausious. apart from that had no problems apart from cronic heart burn, and I was intolerant to antacids so had to drink gallons of milk to try and make it better. birth was a nightmare though - was pushing for 4 hours as DS was back to back.

hey htat sounds cool..a plaster cast type thing of the bump. ive never heard of it before.

mumswish · 02/02/2006 15:33

I want a professional picture taken of me, my bump and DP, ive seen loads of places that do it and i'd love to have it done

wuzzlefraggle · 02/02/2006 15:34

wannabe, the birth bit is probably the bit i'll be most terrified of to be honest.
pity those creams dont work for stretch marks, is there nothing else that can be done to prevent them?

wuzzlefraggle · 02/02/2006 15:35

yeah mumswish....that pic sounds like a very good idea

NatalieJane · 02/02/2006 15:36

Ouch WannaBe!!

They do the plaster cast kits on eBay, I really cant wait to do that!!

The pictures sound like a good idea!

mumswish · 02/02/2006 15:38

Thats the part i'm most scared of but only because I'm worried I wont be able to do it or something will go wrong. I can put up with the fact that it will prob hurt ALOT but I'm not too sure I can face the worry that something might go wrong, or that i cant do it,

or that I poo myself (big worry) lol

NatalieJane · 02/02/2006 15:39

I was told to spend a lot of time in the bath as the bump was growing because the extra water will help the skin stretch, but even every night sat in the bath with DH (we even moved a telly in there!!) didn't stop them. The other thing is as well that people forget that they don't just appear on you belly, I have them on my boobs, thighs, bum, hips, back of my knees, and probably other places that I am too scared to look at!!!

wuzzlefraggle · 02/02/2006 15:39

ive been waiting for someone to say that mumswish!!!! lol, im worried about the pooing bit too

NatalieJane · 02/02/2006 15:41

LMAO, I was really worried about pooing myself!! Believe me at the time it doesn't even enter your head, and even if you did, you probably wouldn't even know about it. It isn't as if they tell you to stop pushing so they can show everyone in the room or anything!!!

mumswish · 02/02/2006 15:41

I've got stretch marks on my arms, boobs, belly, thighs but thats it at the mo, i'm worried where else they'll turn up especially after what you just said nat. lol

mumswish · 02/02/2006 15:42

lol @ showing everyone.

Mind you i've heard that before your waters break you normally get a bad case of diahroah (so cant spell)

wannaBe1974 · 02/02/2006 15:43

lol yeh I have stretch marks on bits where I didn't know I had bits!

I wouldn't worry too much about the birth, reality is that at the time it wouldn't matter if an army walked through the room you wouldn't care. it's a fairly undignified process, but generally you just want to get it over with, unless you're one of those natural birth types ... me thinks not, lol. Having said that I was 8 centimetres dilated by the time I got to the hospital, but that happened in a matter of about 2 hours, went into labour at 12:30, and by 3:00 pains were 2 minutes apart so went to hospital. had it not been for complications birth would have been a breeze

wuzzlefraggle · 02/02/2006 15:44

LMAO!!!nat, that post almost made me cry laughing
as of yet i have no stretch marks. but when i eventually do get pg, that will most probably change

mumswish · 02/02/2006 15:45

I've got a new question for you, are any of you going to get dopplers? I've heard quite a few of the girls on the anti-natal threads say they're getting one, I really want one, Mainly for the comfort of checking on a heartbeat all the time! lol

I can't remember when my waters broke, but I did ask dh if I had pooed anywhere, he said I didn't but I know he knew I was worried about it before I went in so I don't know if he was just trying to hide it or not!!

It was only my belly that felt like it was ripping apart with the stretch marks, other people I have spoken to about stretch marks have got none or only a few some they itched like mine some didn't even know they had any until the baby had been born! Every one is different!!
