Starshaker.

Your doc was frankly an insensitive idiot to tell you that when you were just 18. Am glad he was wrong and you went on to have a child.

Some women with PCOS can spontaneously ovulate on an occasional (though certainly not a regular) basis; this is what happened to you methinks. You were very fortunate.

Re your comment:-
"I am wandering if my pcos is back as im 3 weeks late and have done 7 tests all neg".

I would certainly not test any more; seeing repeated negatives is soul destroying.

PCOS does not go away although some of its symptoms can be helped with treatment. There is no one therapy or treatment that will completely eradicate the hormonal imbalances which leads to the multiple cystic follicles associated with the condition.

It can and does affect ovulation. If you have a blood test done ensure that the doctor compares your LH level against that of your FSH level. I say this as often the level of LH is higher than FSH which is a symptom of PCOS.

Verity is the UK based organisation designed to support PCOSers - their web address is www.verity-pcos.org.uk. I would suggest you have a look at it. Read up on PCOS and educate yourself re this.

If you are not under the care of a gynae and you are actively ttc I would consider seeking help from such a person. PCOS is a condition that often requires help re ttc from a gynaecologist.
