Do you get spotting before AF / period? Come and talk to me here

Morning ladies!

I have bleated on about spotting before AF a lot now on these conception boards and have realised that it does seem to happen to a log of people, can be for many different reasons and also people can be fobbed off by the doctors as "nothing to worry about".

My periods were normal until last August when I started getting brown spotting 4 days before AF came in full force.

I have googled and googled and there are lots of threads of women TTC with this mysterious affliction, but they only last about 20 posts so you can never find out what the outcome was. What were they treated for? Did they manage to conceive? And the one that I'm always desperate to know the minute I start spotting every month; did they get the spotting the month they conceived?

So I want this thread I be a place for TTC mumsnetters who spot before AF to come and share their experiences and stories and support. The information out there is so conflicted so it would be so good to keep this one going until we get some answers and some BFPs!!

Hey @Morgane777 huge congratulations! That's great news! I think medicated IUI will be my next step if I don't fall naturally in next few months (after HYFOSY today) so good to know your protocol as reference point too. Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months xx

@Bubblybub @orangeloo @Michelle122 Thank you very much! Sadly, the happiness didn't last long. BFPs turned slowly into BFNs and I started to lose pregnancy symptoms (my boobs stopped hurting) and finally I bled. It was a chemical
Well, it was devastating but I know that is something that happens a lot. We'll continue working hard for a new BFP soon!
A lot of baby dust for us all!

@Morgane777 so sorry lovely, that is so crap. Fx for your next BFP very soon.
It was quite uncomfy but tubes aren't blocked which is good. FX for being more fertile hopefully in the next few months. X

That is great piece of mind @orangeloo to know they are clear I got my bfp 3 months after hsg all was clear also and not painful.

Any good news here?
I got pregnant again and it ended (again) in being a chemical pregnancy :(

I’m nearly 15 weeks now. All going well touch wood. Spotting stopped around 6 weeks. Not had any since x

Yes finding out the sex next weekend. I do think the soy isoflavones was the reason I got pregnant but it’s a shame not everyone can take them with thyroid and other problems :( x

@Bubblybub yes you're right. I have thyroid problems, so cannot go that way :(

No news this side on cd 20 no positive opk yet wtf so sick of all of this sitting awake crying thinking there must be some reason why it is so difficult

Started my own thread but it makes more sense here.

Been regular for over a year since coming off pill. Age 34. First month TTC (He said yes! 😁), usually 28 day cycle but on day 37. Been having sex like rabbits. Had red spotting last week (one wipe) bfn. Brown spotting this morning (one wipe) but afraid to do another test cause my gut says not pregnant. Was pregnant at 19 (no birth), so I know the 'feeling'. Have no idea what's going on now. Help?!

I do have cervical erosion. Don't worry ladies sounds worse than it is! Common in your 30s. Explains the red spotting but the brown is very strange for me

@Michelle122 have you been testing more than once daily? It happened to me that I didn't get any positive on the mornings must mostly on the afternoons with a 4-5hour hold.

Yes testing twice a day last few cycles was positive opk on cd 15 non medicated which I was so happy with tried of dtd now 🙄 and still no positive hopefully I just missed the peak

Hi everyone! So glad to have found this thread! :) I’ve been reading it from the start and found it so helpful. We’ve been ttc since November. I always thought spotting before AF was totally normal, as a kind of warning ‘I’m coming!’ but I can’t remember if it happened before I went on the pill, which I’ve been off for about 4/5 years. Like others have said, the doctors are very unconcerned about it even though I mention it every time I talk to them. My progesterone is good but I spot anywhere between 6 and 2 days before and it has worried me that it is causing a problem. I’m having acupuncture at the moment so am going to mention the spleen qui that someone talked about a few pages back. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and how happy/relived I was to see the topic name! :) nice to know I’m not alone, as this journey can feel very lonely at times X
