Morning Crimbo Preggos.

Loving all your festive name changes. Not thought of one here yet but I am wearing Christmas socks today Xmas Smile in honour of putting our tree up (when MrBiscuits can drag his arse out of bed).

Like the sound of that thing on R1 but I must have missed it probably due to a constantly nattering 3 year old - roughly what sort of time was it?

Anyway hope you're all well.

BeedleTheBahHumbug · 10/12/2011 08:03

Mmmm mince pies and mulled wine thanks biscuits, as you're a proper preggo I'll leave you some alcohol free glogg (Swedish mulled wine, not spelt right but I can't do Swedish letters from my tablet or fondlepad as my brother calls it).

We're off out to buy a Christmas tree this morning, all the rest of the decorations have been up for the last 2 weeks apparently you put them up at the beginning of advent here. Can't complain all the lights look very nice Xmas Grin.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

What do we want?
Positive pee sticks
When do we want them?
Now (or at least quite soon please)

BeedleTheBahHumbug · 10/12/2011 08:05

Forgot to say that I'm loving the Christmas names and I'm not really Bah humbug but it sounded good

HaveUrselfAFaithyChristmasBaby · 10/12/2011 09:07

Morning all
That spinning wheel looks super cool poppy! Forgive me for not paying full attention, is this your profession? My aunt weaves for a living.
I don't get the weebles thing...I am obviously a brooker, I am also a BESH. I have been on Charter's anonymous but had drifted off that whilst I stopped charting. Seemed no point til DH gets treated. Thinking about it I will need a new thermometer....I need new everything! More shopping than even my head can get round.
biscuits how about ChristmasCookiesAndTea?

difficulttimes · 10/12/2011 09:10

thanks Smeg, I'm slightly more the wiser lol

I this just a general ttc thread then??

GreenOlives · 10/12/2011 09:14

Morning ladies, how are you all today?

I'm confused, CD16 here and still no Smile on my OPK yet I'm pretty sure I ovulated yesterday evening (lots of pain and EWCM) Could I have just missed the surge as I'm only testing once a day and is it worth me testing again tomorrow or not? Think this is the reason I don't usually bother with OPKs, it's stressing me out!

Happy tree shopping Beedle, we are putting ours up today too, just trying to decided whether to wait and do it after DS is in bed as I'm a bit OCD about the decorations being hung evenly on the tree!

Pop I think the SWI every other day is only recommended specifically if the man has a low sperm count because 2-3 days between "emptying" gives optimum swimmers (DH had to abstain for 3 days before providing sample for testing) But every day is fine when there are no ishoos Xmas Grin On another thread a lady was telling me about her patented method of 3 x per day during fertile week Xmas Shock It has got her pregnant in first or second month of trying every time, I did suggest it to DH but he just pulled a face like this Shock and went pale so I haven't pushed it Xmas Wink Not sure how we'd fit 3 shags in anyway, sometimes 1 is hard enough!

IMaybeanElf · 10/12/2011 09:29

Olives I would go with your body rather than the pesky pee sticks. You probably have just missed the surge. What time of day do you test. I think most people find that testing in the evening gives them a better result.

Beedle do you live in Sweden? Have fun tree shopping.

Biscuits have fun putting your tree up too, bet DS can't wait Xmas Grin

Nothing new to report here. Going to make pasta for my lasagne later, and am baking a cake for my brother's birthday. I should also go out for a run. I love Saturdays Xmas Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 10/12/2011 09:35

Green I'm hoping I can keep my decoration ocd under check while we're doing the tree Xmas Hmm.

Liking the Christmas name idea thanks faithychristmas - will try to remember to change it next time I'm on the 'pooter.

Hope everyone has a fantabulous Saturday xx

SweetieDoesIt · 10/12/2011 09:51

Loving all the festive names changes

DH got up early this morning and put the tree up all on his own so it was all festive Chez Sweetie when I emerged from my slumbers. Xmas Shock Xmas Grin

Can I ask a novice OPK question to those of you who may use the sticks rather than the smilie ones. I had a faintish line Wed & Thurs was secretly chuffed as first EVER line on a pee stick then back to just a control line Fri. On the pack it says faint line is negative but being an old hag older does this mean I wouldn't get a strong line anyway and this is it? When would ovulation actually occur based on this?

Maybe good news Otis seems to be calming down, do you have a rattle tin (small tin or container filled with dried peas or similar) then every time he bites or looks like he might be getting too boisterous you rattle it near him, gives him a bit of a shock and makes him jump to stop the biting. It takes a bit of time for them to get the message but you need to stick with it and do it every time, and DH too. It has worked with all my dogs in the past.

GreenOlives · 10/12/2011 10:42

Thanks for that Maybe, I usually test in the morning because otherwise I'm rubbish at remembering to not wee for 4 hours prior to testing! You are supposed to be able to use FMU with the Smile ones but I think you're right, I'm going to trust my body not the sticks!

I think I need to bite the bullet Biscuits and try and control my OCD so that DS can enjoy putting the decorations up too and I can rearrange them all when he goes to bed

I like tinsel & baubles Sweetie!

Happy Saturday everyone. x

IMaybeanElf · 10/12/2011 10:55

Thanks for the advice Sweetie I will try that. We are having to go to the vets later as he has diarrohea with some blood in it. Hopefully all will be ok though.

That's ok Olives I have only tried OPKs a few times, and only got positives in the evening Xmas Smile

Solars · 10/12/2011 10:59

Loving all the christmassy name changes...don't think there is much you can do with mine!

Sweetie forgot to say before but was impressed with your visualisation board and it's only a matter of time for that last one to achieve! I'm pretty sure i'm a lot older than you and get quite convincing positives on opks still. I have noticed that different brands work differently for me though, I've never used the smiley face ones as I think they are way too expensive but have used other brands but i've found tesco own brands really work well for me. I've always used them once a day sometime between the hours of about 10am & 4pm and will catch a surge some people do use them twice a day, may be worth trying that for a while to see if you can catch it. The pack usually says that ovulation occurs 24-36 hours after the surge. Hope that helps...

Well I'm out this month Xmas Sad af has caught me off guard at least 2 or 3 days early this month. Have started spotting this morning, have had a little weep and cuddle with DH, feel ever so disappointed as I just don't know what else we can do to make it happen. I feel we've been giving it the best shot possible but af just keeps turning up month after month Xmas Sad

SmegTheHalls · 10/12/2011 11:18

Maybe I got Xmas Confused last night, didn't I?! Love the name change Xmas Smile

Solars is it just spotting at the moment? I'm brooking no argument that it's an implantation bleed! Fingers crossed for you.

IMaybeanElf · 10/12/2011 11:21

Oh Solars It's so tough isn't it. It gets to the point where you think 'what more can I do?' How long have you and MrSolars been trying? We are all brooking hard for you, so it will happen Xmas Smile

Smegs we were both confused i feel Xmas Grin our festive disguises are obviously very good Xmas Grin

Munkiii · 10/12/2011 11:34

Just giving Solars a quick cuddle, hope you can have a treat to look forward to this evening?

It is so hard, so very hard my darling.

Have a party this afternoon, but hope to be back later.

Xx

Oh and who are these newbies? Something about elves and halls......?

Xmas Wink
OP posts:
SweetieTinselandBaubles · 10/12/2011 11:49

Thanks solars will have a look at the tesco ones too. So sorry af has shown up and made you sad.

Munkiii · 10/12/2011 11:56

Oh and sweetie as far as I know even if only the very edge of the test line is dark then it is a positive.

I never get two thick lines, I always get a dark edge on the line if that makes sense.....

I use Internet cheapies so that I can test twice a day if I want to and then don't feel guilty about the cost.

I know some people use Internet cheapies to give them an idea where they are and then crack open a CBD smiley one to double check?

Also very much depends on the dye in the test. POAS.com is most helpful as well.

OP posts:
PopcornMouse · 10/12/2011 12:12

Olives 3 times a day?!?! Shock I wouldn't be able to stand. Seriously! Though I think DH might be up for it..... Shock Confused

Thanks faith no it's just an addiction a hobby :o
A weaving aunt? That is sooo cool. Weaving is super difficult, you have to have a special kind of scientific number-crunching head for that (which I don't, sadly). Do you get lots of woven goodies for Christmas? :o

You may have missed your surge, but some people get EWCM for a good few days before ovulating so it might be worth persevering for another day or two? Bare in mind that if you're using FMU, any surge you detect could be from the evening before, iykwim.

solars are you sure it's over? Especially if it's spotting and it's early? Implantation?

Solars · 10/12/2011 12:19

Thank you, those hugs have been much needed Xmas Smile

Oh Maybe it pains me to say it but this is now month 21 Xmas Sad

Smegs there's been a bit more on wiping and I have the usual heavy feeling in the womb are so I'm pretty sure it is af, but thank you.

Munkii Dh has suggested a nice lunch out and we are viewing a few houses this afternoon and maybe a movie if there's anything decent on.

Right no more wallowing, it's gorgeously sunny outside and i've just realised baby will be a September born just like me and DH so that's a positive as all birthdays over in one month!

Hope everyone has a lovely day and I'll catch up with you all later xx

IMaybeanElf · 10/12/2011 12:33

And Solars don't forget, September babies are super clever Xmas Grin Hope you have a lovely lunch and find a nice house. Oooh, conema, I haven't been for ages. Either that or a nice film at home on the sofa. Sometimes I love that even more as it means I can wear pyjamas

Have fun at your party Munk

Pop if we manage it twice a day it's a miracle Xmas Grin and DH gets a bit of a hero complex: 'twice in one day, I'm such a stud' kind of thing. Ah, men and their egos Xmas Wink

HaveUrselfAFaithyChristmasBaby · 10/12/2011 19:41

Yes I've just realised our wedding present from my uncle & aunt - hand woven placements - went up in smoke :( This is so hard
Three times a day?! We have only done that once ....on our honeymoon Xmas Wink
Seriously, no chance. Twice a day is rare but while DH's swimmers are slow that's not a good idea
solars did you have a nice afternoon in the end?

ScarlettInSpace · 11/12/2011 11:46

Hiya everyone, I hope you don't mind me gatecrashing [I usually have a bottle of Sauvignon stashed around my person somewhere Xmas Wink so I can come in useful] - I've been lurking around this part of the board for a little while now seeing which thread felt right iykwim...

Apologies in advance for the long first post but I'm hoping I can de-confuse myself a litte in the process Grin

I came off the pill in March [but my GP thinks it was November, natch], my fella already has 2 with his ex witch wife, I had my Day 21 tests in July and the GP was happy with all the results.

This is where I start to confuse myself!

Since I came off the pill, I've had a pretty standard 28 day cycle with Wilko's Ov Sticks detecting LH surge Day 14/15 as a rule. Last month I detected nothing so I thought this month I'd start testing earlier, and detected surge on Day 10 [sometimes, when I know to expect it, I can feel a stitch like feeling in the general region which I guess is Ov, and I felt that yesterday[day 11] so that fits with what the sticks are telling me?]

Is it normal to have a total cycle shift like this? Normally I would anticipate AF on 28th, but based on this should I expect it 14 days from yesterday? Hmmm Bah Humbug that's Christmas Eve... In fact, does that mean I can sneak a cheeky 5 day Early Pg test before Chrimbo? Xmas Confused

Help!
Cheers Wine and I promise not be all me me me in future x

GreenOlives · 11/12/2011 15:28

Hi ladies,

Welcome Scarlett, nice to meet you. I think it's pretty normal for your cycles to take a few months to settle down after coming off the pill so maybe you are just going to have slightly shorter than average cycles. If your LP is usually 14 days then I would imagine it would stay the same this cycle so I would expect you to be able to test on Xmas eve, wouldn't that be a fab pressie if it was BFP!

Glad that everyone else was just as Xmas Shock as me about the 3 x day SWI, not sure we've ever done that (not even on honeymoon!) It seems I was being impatient with the OPK as I finally got my Smile this morning! We have SWI every day since Tuesday and I'm intending to continue tonight and tomorrow so I think the rat has well & truly been smacked adequately for me to confirm my pregnancy on Christmas day - please Santa, you can keep all my other presents just find me an agreeable pee stick! Xmas Grin

Hope all those getting dceorations and trees up this weekend are now in the festive spirit, I kept my OCD in check and I feel suprisingly chilled about the messiness of my tree - DS LOVED decorating it!

Last day of annual leave so back to work tomorrow Sad - bleurrgh!

TTFN

ArcticMunkiiii · 11/12/2011 18:46

Welcome scarlet I think it is entirely normal to have cycles of different lengths, but I think your LP should be of the same length.

You are already pg by joining the thread so congratulations!

green congrats on the agreeable OPK, and well done on the fantastic SWI every day effort! We go every second...and it's enough Wink

Nothing much to report here, 9dpo boobs a bit sore. Left one is anyway.

Another party today, am exhausted. DH bathing DD. I am watching Elf Grin

I bring mince pies and decaff coffee for all.

Thinking of you all, have I hope things have settled down and you are comfortable in your temporary bed xxxx
