Hi Ladies

I've been skulking about MN for a couple of months after ttc A LOT in October and failing to get anywhere. November was a write-off due to DH's insane work-life imbalance. This month we've managed one whoopie but at exactly the right time, so now I'm back in the waiting game. DH is super-stressed and I know how that can do for the little swimmers, so I'm not too hopeful but just wanted to hang out with you guys, staring at the boxed POAS equipment and drumming my fingers nervously on the table..
Testing will commence on the 20th. (ominous thunderclaps etc). How are you all coping?
xx

CupOfGoodCheer · 09/12/2011 18:14

Hi captainmoll, welcome to the thread

and thanks for the cheese and pineapple, yummy! Xmas Grin

Good luck for the 20th, is that first response, or is af due then? I haven't POAS yet but each month I've ended up buying more and more "equipment"! My latest being a thermometer - I'm now obsessed; alarm goes off, eyes open, plastic stick goes in mouth.... Xmas Grin

Hi captain welcome to the club, yes there's a lot of drumming fingers on tables while we find something to do other than POAS.

Am having a bit of a rubbish day. Am really hormonal and bit emotional and that makes me think my period is so on its way - due next wednesday so am currently cycle day 24. And then thinking that makes me even sadder. know it's still a bit early but my boobs really hurt with my first but I didn't test until a week late with my first as it was er, unexpected!

oh well, have found a very good book to keep my occupied, The Hunger Games, coming out on film next year but the book was very good at keeping me from obsessing. That and filling up my diary - how's everyone else keeping busy?

Ponyclubmum · 10/12/2011 00:03

Hi captain!
I'm wondering if I should try an ov calculator/test. We've just been shagging every 2 days between AF, with no joy. I don't really want to get scientific (think it'll stress me more and make it less likely I'll conceive) but I'm getting impatient!
I'd really like it to happen this cycle, because when I got my BFP with DS we were staying at my parent's house, and my next AF is due when we'll be at my parents over New Year, so it'd be cool if it happens that way again!

Hello lovely ladies - I've got a question...been using OPKs for the first time this week. On Friday got a neg result, a positive yesterday and a bfn again today. Can that be right? I expected to see positives for a few days? I also feel a tenderness inside to the left - approaching ovulation?

Thanks for the advice, hope all are well

MakeTeaNotWar · 11/12/2011 21:53

Ooh I am daft - one positive a month is normal. I thought I'd get a positive for each day of the fertile window ooops Blush but fingers crossed, that means the SWI was timely eek!!

CupOfGoodCheer · 11/12/2011 22:01

fingers crossed Tea.

Last month I got a positive in the evening and a very faint line the next morning, that was all.

I'm opking again from tomorrow, but only seeing DP one night this week so not holding out much hope of seeing a bfp before 2012!

MinkyMoodles · 12/12/2011 00:09

It's all gone a bit quiet in here!!

Hey Secret I am mega fed up too. Why is nothing happening, grr it's so frustrating, stupid pill, stupid body. I bet if I didn't want to get pregnant I would have got up the duff first month but oh noooooooo. Also, secret I got very definite postives when testing for LH surge and did the deed at perfect time and still no BFP so no guarantees even when that goes well.

Sorry total rant.

POAS can get a bit much Secret so maybe you should just call it quits find the middle ground in your cycle add a few days either end and SWI as much as possible around then.

Am due on Wednesday and have resisted POAS because I am not ready to face the disappointment.

I am a moody biatch though so am sure my other half will be thankful when I start to bleed.

Also, the way the next cycle works out I will be expecting either my period or BFP around the date of my 30th birthday in Jan and I'm not sure I can face the disappointment on my bday. Though I suppose I could get very very drunk if it's a BFN.

Anyway, where is everyone else? Enjoying some festive cheer I hope!

(So sorry this is just one long moany rant)

Oh sorry to hear that secret. Just think odds on that it will be your happy BFP announcement soon.

I just read back my last post and lordy it was miserable so I think we need to invest some Christmas cheer into this thread! Trees up everyone?

Ooh, it's hard on the birthday/wedding anniversary front - on one hand if we're disappointed is it going to mar the celebrations, on other hand were we to BFP it would be BEST THING EVER. Eeeek.

captainmoll · 13/12/2011 09:40

So I had a big TTC heart-to-heart with a very lovely friend who conceived in late 30's after a year of trying, and they both had to give up booze completely! I'm thinking Christmas is a bad time for TTC!Wine Wine Wine

Also, my DH is very reluctant to plan the SWI - he has romantic notions that just doing it when we feel the urge will mean the magic fairies deliver a beautiful love-child.. I'm wondering how long any of you did the whole "not trying to, but not trying not to" before you got sick of the BFN's and got serious about it? Not sure how long my impatient nature can hold out!

Does anyone know if mouth ulcers are any kind of symptom? I woke up yesterday with about 4. Grim.

Right, i'm off to find something to do that stops me wondering and counting days incessantly! Have a lovely Tuesday everyone.

Captain the way I'm playing it is that I know when the best time to swi is, but I tend not to pass the information on to dp. That way I can make sure we swi at the right time, but he's not under any pressure. Seems to be working ok, in that we're dtd at the right time but not making a big issue of it.

I'm having other issues with people thinking I'm pg! I'm size 10/12 but have put on half a stone and my weight goes all on my belly. I'm getting really really fed up with people asking if I'm pg! It's insulting and I also think even if I was, if I haven't told you, it's because I don't want you to know!!!! Stop asking!!!

MakeTeaNotWar · 14/12/2011 13:46

With DD1 we didn't not to not try - we got engaged in Sep to be wed the following May. I stopped taking the pill in Oct and see what happened without actively trying. This is because I thought it would take some time, 6 months-ish, so if I was a little bit pregnant getting married, it would be fine. Lo and behold I was up the duff within about 5 minutes and was 27 weeks getting married, a great big bus of a bride.

Now we are actively trying for #2 and I have started using OPKs and it's not going too well - DH found it so unromantic that our attempt to SWI on Sunday was completely unsuccessful. I found this upsetting esp as we'll have lost out this month so I think I'll follow cup and know when is a good time without necessarily sharing it with DH.
