Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

We are all jolly well going to smack the rat this month and grow a baby and we'll brook no argument. And probably eat some cake too.

Grin He's not at work today then? Tummy bug may have left him a bit knackered but weren't you boozing recently anyway? He can't be that ill! Confused

scarletfingernail · 10/11/2011 10:26

Solars Sad was lurking this morning looking out for your update. Fingers are crossed here that your BFN was down to a dud pee stick.

Imps you are so pregnant. That play you went to see sounds very weird.

bean I loved the first series of The Killing. I confess I didn't see the original Danish version which everyone raves about, but we were glued to the American version, it was so well acted you could almost feel the pain of the murdered girl's mother. Do you know when series 2 of the American one is to start? I was also wondering whether it was the same murderer in both versions?

beangrower · 10/11/2011 10:35

Hi scarlet - We went Nordic with TK and couldn't quite bring ourselves to watch US version, though my mate watched both and rated both. Apparently they did change the ending of the US one. I don't even know if a US version of second series is in existence Confused as they are only just about to broadcast Nordic series 2 on telly in the UK.

Imps aren't we due some pregnancy update symptoms?

May I remind you all to howl at the full moon at 8oclock tonight please? Very necessary for the many preggos on this thread.

PopcornMouse · 10/11/2011 10:53

Bean you're right! Shock that was Monday too. He's been feeding me excuses, the rotter!

Howl at the full moon? Confused

beangrower · 10/11/2011 11:03

Popcorn - we are ladies and therefore need to be in tune with the moon. I was born on a full moon (like a lot of babies are) and am therefore supposed to be uber fertile at that time of the month. There's even been an argument that some women ovulate twice in a cycle - once on the usual cd and the other when the moon is full. Did I mention that I am an outrageous hippy (though you wouldn't think so to look at me)??? Blush I have a friend who's DD2 was conceived at the totally wrong time of the month and she was away from home during usual cd. She was reunited with DH say around cd20+. Scan confirmed that conception would have been v late in the cycle. Of course there is the usual joshing that DD2 may be another man's child but this simply isn't the case (she's a lovely girl, honest guv). I'm betting and a double ov!

ScrambledSmegs · 10/11/2011 11:04

bean are you a Wolef?!

beangrower · 10/11/2011 11:05

And yes - your DH needs a kick up the jacksy. Like I say - you need to make yrself scarce round cd5-10 then come home for sex-fuelled reunion.

beangrower · 10/11/2011 11:06

smegs - glad you explained. I'm more like a quiche than a wild dog though. Grin

ScrambledSmegs · 10/11/2011 11:07

Ah, just a lentil-weaver Grin. I've never heard of the full moon theory - I like it, two chances a month!

ScrambledSmegs · 10/11/2011 11:11

PS I have hippyish yoghurt-knitting tendencies myself, please don't think that was derogatory! x

beangrower · 10/11/2011 11:19

Grin Takes one to know one. I like to think there's a good bit of rock n roll mixed in with the youghurty crocheted shawl, and I'm sure that can be said of you Smegs...

PopcornMouse · 10/11/2011 11:32

I've never heard of that! DH is a psychiatric nurse, and thinks there's definitely something in the theory that people get a bit weird on a full moon, though.

As a teen, I didn't get a job I interviewed for because I "look like a hippy". They then went on to ask if I'd ever been to glasto, and said they found hippies unreliable Hmm my jaw was on the floor the whole time.

beangrower · 10/11/2011 11:39

That's hippy-ist!

TheLittleFriend · 10/11/2011 12:53

Sorry you were disappointed this morning solars. It's not over for you yet though - any af signs?

Board the boobie train popcorn? That is too funny!!! I can't imagine what my dp would do if I actually said that too him!

CD8 here. Got some acupuncture this afternoon which I'm looking forward too. Don't think my bank balance is looking forward to it though.

Solars · 10/11/2011 12:56

Bean bless you for reading up on clomid, we are in fact using pre-seed too. I'm never a big fan of taking medication if I don't have to and anytime I am prescribed anything I will read around it and did read the same too.

Scarlet that's very sweet of you, hope you are well x

Popcorn I'm a little shocked by your interview story Shock

Right come on AF, I'll entertain your visit one last time so make the most of it

beangrower · 10/11/2011 12:58

Hi Little Friend

Bank balance is just a figure. Babies are what we want and nothing shall get in our way. Have a very relaxing time and start gee-ing up for the SWI fest.

TheLittleFriend · 10/11/2011 12:59

Too true bean Smile

Solars · 10/11/2011 13:00

Oooo cross-post Little no af signs yet, but i'm sure she lurking...

Have fun at the acupuncturist (is that a word?)

TheLittleFriend · 10/11/2011 13:08

that's what I call her solars!

CupcakesAndCocktails · 10/11/2011 13:27

Afternoon I wrote a lovely long message to everyone earlier but lost it. Here is the short version:-

Solars sorry about the rubbish non compliant pee sticks. Heres some chocolate and hugs for you.

Bean am loving your full moon theory. We are off to a friends tonight. However I have my sexy underwear and preseed at the ready so am hoping to slip in a quicky before we got out (would be doubly nice seeing as my seduction techniques failed last night)

Popcorn good luck with the rat smacking. Maybe we will be able to award your DH with the Bartlet award for swi while unwell.

My work friend who started ttc the same time as us had her baby this morning. Am very happy but am also a little sad as all that seems so far away for us.

Hope all the other rat smackers are ok

beangrower · 10/11/2011 13:50

cupcakes - that's a toughie when TTC buddy gets there. I too have 2 babies (one just born, one a month away) to hide my Sad around - from mums who have children similar age to my DS. But please don't think that anything is 'too far away'. It will happen and you have to brook.

Enjoy a moonlit seduction. What cd are you?

Solars enjoy the goo. I'm quite concerned it confuses the spermies myself! Yes - was wondering about clomid for myself (despite preferring alternative routes to meds where possible) but I'm not sure clomid is of much help to someone who is essentially just a bit past it and might just squeeze another pg in out of sheer luck. But I really hope it's a winner for you.

SweetieDoesIt · 10/11/2011 14:02

Hello lovely brooking ladies. I have been reading with interest, it does move on quickly this thread.Grin

I took your advice bean and have arranged to keep having my acupuncture weekly for as long as I can afford to.

With mention of pre-seed earlier in the thread I think by solars - can you recommend? I am thinking we may be need a little assistance in that area Blush

CupcakesAndCocktails · 10/11/2011 14:03

Bean you are definitely not past it! 2 of DH sisters have had their second child over the age of 40 without any assistance and both of them struggled ttc for the first and second. In fact they both just gave up and got surprise BFPs a few months later. My nephews are truly little miracles Grin

I'm on cycle day 10, I normally ovulate between day 16-20. However I started with EWCM yesterday & have had some twinges so have decided to start the rat smacking early. Maybe that's where I've been going wrong by starting too late in my cycle

CupcakesAndCocktails · 10/11/2011 14:07

Sorry Bean forgot to say thanks for the reassurance too!

Sweetie I can recommend preseed. TMI alert- I started using it after I had a couple of uti's and thrush as I was, ahem, a bit drier than usual. I found it quiet pleasant (had never used any lube before). The only downside is that it's not very cheap

beangrower · 10/11/2011 14:14

Cupcakes - thanks for cheering me up and reminding me about brooking. Of course it's still a goer and just have to make the most of it all and enjoy the SWI/SFF. Plus I'm a mum and if there's just the one little babster to enjoy I am still extremely lucky.

I really do think you should try SWI from day 10 whatever and aim for at least 2x a week, pref 3x. My DS was conceived quite early in the month according to the scan and sex before ov is more important than on ov day so I heard (here, quite recently). So go for some rat-smacking and give it some welly.

Preseed is defo spenny, but if it gives the spermies a leg-up then buy the stuff, eh?
