Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

We are all jolly well going to smack the rat this month and grow a baby and we'll brook no argument. And probably eat some cake too.

farfallarocks · 09/11/2011 21:58

yes big squidgy hugs, well done biscuits!

Solars · 09/11/2011 22:01

Thanks Biscuits & Farfalla it's a much needed hug! I think I will test tomorrow morning as i'll be 18dpo then. Oh well at least I'll know tomorrow either way. I hope you are doing ok Biscuits I forgot to mention hope the scan goes well on Friday, how exciting xx

Biscuitsandtea · 09/11/2011 22:03

Now, the important question, is what time will you be updating us tomorrow?

Biscuitsandtea · 09/11/2011 22:04

And can I just say a bloody hell! 18dpo!!!

We should start a new award (to go alongside the Bartlet award) for testing patience?

NinjaChipmunk · 09/11/2011 22:05

I'm sending crossed fingers and big squishy hugs too solars I think you have been heroically patient.

Solars · 09/11/2011 22:06

It'll probably be around 9ish or thereabouts I think

Solars · 09/11/2011 22:07

I know 18dpo!!! It's more out of fear I think, no heroism at all Ninja

NinjaChipmunk · 09/11/2011 22:09

I shall be checking in on you on my way to work tomorrow. I'll be brooking super hard for you. And 18dpo is heroic even if your immense patience is caused by fear!

Biscuitsandtea · 09/11/2011 22:18

Glad you've warned me it won't be until 9am! Otherwise I'd have been glued to my phone from about 6am. I'd have probably called out the emergency search and rescue for you by 7:30am!!

ScrambledSmegs · 09/11/2011 23:11

Brooking set to maximum for you Solars. x

Stasi · 09/11/2011 23:13

very quick post from my phone to say good luck solars! Internet reception is poor on Skye, so not had much chance to check in. hope everyone is well. My wedding day was amazing, and the honeymoon awesome so far. Back to a real web connection at the weekend, but I will definitely be checking my phone in the morning. Solars, many sites I have read say 18 days of high temps means you are almost certainly pregnant. Even with a long lp your temp should drop before then. Fingers crossed they are right.

Biscuitsandtea · 10/11/2011 04:39

Ah so glad you had a great wedding etc Stasi. Enjoy the rest of your honeymoon xxx

Solars - have you been temping? I like the sound muchly of what Stasi says......

Solars · 10/11/2011 07:48

Stasi thanks for your confidence but I don't temp, hope you're having a great honeymoon x

Test on FR says BFN :(

I think it's just clomid playing silly buggers with me, I was even more sadder about telling DH, although he still thinks I've tested too early :(

Biscuitsandtea · 10/11/2011 07:56

Aw Solars - fingers crossed it was just too early but have some Thanks and Wine anyway xxx

PopcornMouse · 10/11/2011 08:05

It could well be too early - but even if it's not, a nice long luteal phase will make next month even better for conceiving :)
How do you know which day you ovulated without temping, though? Sorry if this is a silly question Blush

I was right, temps show a slight drop so I'm a day behind my usual CD18 ovulation - I reckon I'm ovulating today rather than yesterday. Which isn't great news, as DH was again asleep by 8.15 (8.15!! Shock ) yesterday and, despite the best of my feminine wiles, he was having none of it. He was snoring his head off by 8.30. (Worst thing was, he said he was so tired because he went to bed soooo early the night before which caused him to wake up at 4am and not get back to sleep Hmm )

I think I will need to pounce on him as soon as he gets home from work, or we'll only have two headed sperms from 3 days ago to go on Shock :(

PopcornMouse · 10/11/2011 08:06

Solars what I meant about the temping was, is it possible you got your ovulation date wrong and you're not as many DPO as you think?

Solars · 10/11/2011 08:22

Popcorn you should definitely pounce on DH when he gets in from work, that's what I do more often than not these days..my DH has a tendency to lie on the sofa after dinner and fall asleep...

Well I used opks and I also got very painful ov pains on CD14. I do think it's just clomid stretching out my lp as it can increase the progesterone levels.

farfallarocks · 10/11/2011 08:59

bugger bugger bugger solars was convinced!
But as you say, a nice long luteal phase if nothing else.
And you don;t 100% know when you ovulated so you are still in the running

beangrower · 10/11/2011 09:01

Solars I am totally gutted for you. TTC is an utter bugger. The Hope and Disspair. But fx Clomid will work for you and that your BFP is really not so far away. BROOK, brook, brook. You are also very gracious about it so definitely deserve a very fine vintage Wine and much hugs from us and OH.

I bowled myself over last night - I overcame the MANFLU obstacle. Yes, indeedy. Ordered DP into relaxing bath with DS (well, not that relaxing having water poured all over you from a height and generally much wriggling and excitement but hey - bonding), got the sausage, squash, split pea casserole in the oven, poured DP glass of vitamin-rich malbec. Retrieved DS from bath and got him to bed early. Then DP got massage etc. Well, that's enough info. So final bit of spermage on cd13 - ov day!!!!

So there we are. Stoic efforts, flying in the face of AF.

And it's full moon tonight Brookers - I hope you are all howling.

x

beangrower · 10/11/2011 09:06

BTW - implantation takes place 6-12 days after the egglet has been spermed up. The egg does all that amazing dividing up of cells and wanders down to the uterus in the days preceding. I remember getting uncharacteristically drunk in the first week of pregnancy. I assuaged my guilt by working out that the egg was probably still freeform so totally unaffected. Didn't help with the roaring hangover/nausea though. Grin

beangrower · 10/11/2011 09:09

Popcorn - you gotta jump that bloke tonight at 7pm, no excuses. Time to get the pink fluffy handcuffs out?

ScrambledSmegs · 10/11/2011 09:43

Oh Solars that's rubbish Sad. Clomid does funny things, doesn't it? Although I suppose you're not laughing Sad. That's a very good LP, as s silver lining.

Popcorn 8:15? Shock. That's just silly! Is he ill? I agree with bean, jump him early tonight.

beangrower · 10/11/2011 09:52

Agree with scrambled - it is quite silly, TWO nights in a row...

beangrower · 10/11/2011 10:06

Solars - not wanting to cause alarm bells but it might be worth using preseed now you are on clomid. I have just read an article suggesting that C can affect CM and lead to dryness. Perhaps you have to have been on it a while for this to happen and perhaps you don't have a CM problem anyway...

I'm not convinced that my CM is much cop. Am wondering if this is to do with age...

PopcornMouse · 10/11/2011 10:15

Well he has been a bit ill Blush - he had a tummy bug Monday. But it's gone now. (but perhaps I'm being mean? Confused )

My OPK is almost positive - so I reckon it'll peak thisavo. So should be good timing if I brook no argument and force DH to board the boobie train this afternoon? :o
