Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

We are all jolly well going to smack the rat this month and grow a baby and we'll brook no argument. And probably eat some cake too.

Popcorn - let's hold hands and not test too early. Dreadful waste of the dosh (we need it for the nappies) and AF is the best proof of BF either way. Different case for Far of course. I am 3dpo btw Pop, I think. At least I got the surge on cd12 and this is cd16..?! Had my cake iced last night, in terms of SWI. Trying hard to control hope/despair factor this month. Brooking for you Pops. So is the rat-smacking done for the month you reckon? Boobie train in the sidings?

Imps7 · 12/11/2011 09:07

Morning lovely ladies! Have been awol for a couple of days - just been really busy! Right, will grab a cuppa and have a read through...

Bean, we have an ante-natal brooking thread too for when you are a PSEPP (pee stick endorsed pregnant person) - [[http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/1321471-Rats-Successfully-Smacked-the-No-Brookers-uneventful-pregnancy-and-pain-free-birth-thread here]. Although as you can see, us PSEPPs like to hang around here still, and equally we welcome visitors in the vomitorium (as we like to call it)

Biscuitsandtea · 12/11/2011 09:08

Ooops, got my ]] wrong, the link is here xx

scarletfingernail · 12/11/2011 09:21

Very sorry to hear your news Munkii

Imps7 · 12/11/2011 09:33

Oh, no Munkii, my gosh, I'm so sad to hear your news. I really hope you're getting lots of support and comfort in real life. I have upped the no brooking levels for your next TTC cycle.

And Bartlet too, how horribly worrying. Addenbrookes is the most amazingly wonderful hospital (it's my local) so the care will be second to none.

Popcorn very good efforts on the rat smacking front! Annoyingly I think I will be ovulating on a Friday this cycle and mid week shagging is so difficult what with OH being knackered every day thanks to his job/commute. Oh well, we will just have to do the best that we can! In any event, I've always said that in the most ideal of worlds I would love to have an April or October baby (they're by far my favourite months) so I still have a couple of cycles to get it right for the October one! (Obviously I would dearly love to have a healthy snuggly baby in whatever month he or she chooses to put in an appearance - I'm not that picky!)

Farfalla great work with the tingly nips! Delighted to hear that you've got them! I guess you should be testing from 9/10DPO to catch your BFP nice and early should you? Or will you leave it later than that?

I really like Lorraine Pascal, it has to be said. She seemingly doesn't have any cooking credentials at all but her recipes work! The thyme and chorizo fougasse in her book is lovely, as is the Doris Grant loaf. She does seem to put honey in/on everything though which is a bit weird.

Right, off to do some chores. See you later!

Thank you so much. My husband laughs at my strange Mumsnet friends ("Well, of course, I don't know any of their real names, DH!?!") but your messages are lovely.

Neither of us slept very well last night, but DH and DS have gone out to play this morning. I think we both wish we could just see the consultant now and plan what happens next, rather than wait until Tuesday.

bean, it is not a MC, but our scan showed that our baby has some significant problems, likely chromosomal problems, which may or may not be compatible with life. Things are just a bit up in the air at the moment until we have a better idea of what we are dealing with.

Munkii, sending lots of hugs your way as well. Sorry to read that.

Biscuits, I won the bet too! We all knew it was going to be an anterior placenta! With DS, the kicks came later (definitely by 20 weeks, perhaps by 18) then were very strong.

farfalla, looking forward to seeing your BFP confirmed in the next few days.

beangrower · 12/11/2011 13:54

Bartlett - thanks for sharing and my thoughts are with you during this trying time (sorry - can't find the right words). I hope that Addenbrookes come through for all of you; I have also heard that they are excellent there.

We all need to brook like buggery this month I feel. x

BeedleTheBard · 12/11/2011 14:16

Finally caught up after a few days away, Bartlett I don't think we've "met" but my thoughts are with you and your baby.

Munkii very sorry to hear your news too

I´m on CD9 so expecting to pop an egg out over the next few days, hopefully there will be some more SWI tomorrow :)

Congrats on the scan Biscuits

beangrower · 12/11/2011 15:07

Keep up the good work Beedle. Grin

whimsicalname · 12/11/2011 19:10

Sad news bartlet and munkii, so sorry.

I was just popping in to say I'm getting very enthusiastic about peeing on sticks, but it seems rather frivolous in this light.

I'm still not entirely sure what brooking is (along with loads of other of this threads acronyms, tho I think I'm working some of them out), but, like bean I'm doing it extra hard.

Biscuitsandtea · 12/11/2011 19:13

Feel free to ask any other abbreviations!

Or guess Grin

Munkiii · 12/11/2011 19:37

Thanks for all the kind thoughts, am sending extra brooking to Bartlet

Bleeding getting heavier, so what little hope I had left rapidly fading.

You know something inside stopped me joining the brookers on the ante natal thread, must have had a funny feeling Sad

scarletfingernail · 12/11/2011 19:53

Oh Munkii I'm really sorry to hear that the bleeding's getting worse. I do think a lot can be said for instinct and I had the same feeling as you before my second mc. But at the same time, when you've already experienced an mc it's natural that you'll be wary when getting future BFPs. Get plenty of rest and allow yourself to feel however you want to feel. If you drink have some Wine tonight and cuddle up with your DH/DP.

It probably is a good idea to get checked out at your local EPU, they'll be able to check that the pregnancy was in the right place and that your HGC levels are coming down. And you never know, until it's confirmed there's still a chance that things are as they should be and you're just having some kind of pregnancy bleed. ((hugs))

beangrower · 13/11/2011 10:14

Sounds wise Scarlet. Hope you're ok Munkiii - ok as you can be I mean. It's weird how your body knows all sorts before you actually crystallise the thoughts.

PopcornMouse · 13/11/2011 10:42

Oh Bartlett I'm really sorry to hear your news. Stay strong

My temp plummeted this morning (should be 3DPO) and FF is now saying I've not ovulated, sob. I also have floods of watery CM, which I've not had before (or at least, not the past few cycles that I remember). I know the odd anovulatory cycle isn't unusual, but I reckon this'll be the 2nd out of 5 cycles :(
www.fertilityfriend.com/home/chartywarty

I didn't wholly chart my first cycle, but the temps are so very much lower than my recent cycles that I'm 99% sure I didn't ov then either. I was also very very stressed for a couple of months so I had put it down to that :(

BeedleTheBard · 13/11/2011 12:32

more big hugs to Bartlett and Munkiii

Popcorn are you sure you're 3dpo? Lots of watery CM and a low temp would suggest ovulation is about to happen (in my non-expert opinion). Looking at your chart, if your temp 2 days ago (1dpo) was a bit wrong (disturbed sleep, a few beers the night before, taking it later than normal), then perhaps you're just about to ovulate. Though I see you got a +ve OPK, perhaps your body was going to ovulate and then it was delayed until now - go and smack that rat Grin

Wish I could follow my own advice, but there's no rat smacking going on here today as someone (not me!) had too much to drink last night at a party and is still in bed sleeping off his hangover Angry

PopcornMouse · 13/11/2011 14:16

I can't smack any rats, we have FIL visiting! :(
I hope today was wrong...... maybe I was unusually sober or something........... :o

beangrower · 13/11/2011 15:08

Hello Popcorn and Beedle - so can you get a smiley face but still not actually ovulate for a few days down to stress etc? interesting. So worth sticking to the general advice which is to try and rat-smack every other day after AF has fled the house to at least cd20 (or longer if you have long cycles)?

And don't worry about the FIL - just have a nice quiet one on the floor, no squeaky beds etc. It's all worth it for the cause... Blush

beangrower · 13/11/2011 15:09

Boo to hangover btw, beedle. How uttelry annoying for you. Sometimes, though - it can make a person extra jiggy, having a hangover... no?

BeedleTheBard · 13/11/2011 15:15

bean I'm not sure exactly, but I have read about the body preparing to ovulate and then it being delayed, so I didn't want popcorn to get all disappointed and miss the rat.

I also agree with the quick, quiet rat smacking :)

Rat smacking has occured in the Beedle house but now he's gone back to bed (not that it was exciting around the house SWI - just that he got up for a while afterwards Blush)

PopcornMouse · 13/11/2011 15:17

I'm not sure, bean, I don't use the smilie face ones so they're completely fallible - also, even when FF has said I've ovulated on past charts, my OPKs never go stronger than the control line, I just have to go on what's positive "for me" iykwim. The one earlier in the week was as strong at the control, but not stronger. I'm going to POAOPK in a sec and see if there's any way it's wrong..........

PopcornMouse · 13/11/2011 16:25

Defo to the negatory x

beangrower · 13/11/2011 17:19

Oh dear. That's disappointing for you, Popcorn. I don't chart, but does sound really stressful to me. I do POAOPK from time to time but always get same result so have decided against charting. How long have you been TTC? Have you discussed with GP or any tests done?

Well done Beedle - nice quiet evening for you now the deed has been done? I have also heard that the egg can pop a bit late but I don't think more than 2 days after a noticeable LH surge..? Could be wrong of course?

PopcornMouse · 13/11/2011 18:33

I missed your message beedle - poor dh is being run ragged by fil doing all sorts of diy so I think I'm writing him off unfortunately. I'm really hoping it's just a blip and i am infact 3dpo but I suppose unless i get a bfp I'll never know!

We've been ttc since March. If nothing happens by January I'll go to the gp but I'm hoping it won't come to that - Dh is of the opinion that'll it'll happen when it happens, there's no rush and there's absolutely nothing wrong with his swimmers. Sigh.
