TTC/ pregnancy on Prednisolone or similar part 2

Starting up part 2 of this thread since the old one closed at 1000 posts!

iggi lots of luck for today, hope it's nothing - I know it doesn't help but I know lots of women have spotting and/or bleeding in pregnancy and it still goes ok. Definitely call the EPU, get scanned - it's worth it, honestly, at least you will know one way or another. Virtual hugs coming your way.

free I also started AF properly this morning, so looks like we may be both importuning a friendly witch for a good fertility spell on Hallowe'en? I know exactly what you mean about the scary stuff ... a small part of me was actually sort of relieved when I didn't get a BFP purely because it means I don't have to go through the whole worrying about miscarrying all over again. Bizarre, but there it is.

Kittens thanks for the info about your periods being light on the preds - it confused me as mine are normally heavy.

Free glad you are getting the intrallipids in the US. If anything, our situation has taught us to stand our ground after all we have been through.

How funny that two of us met at NLC today - must have been weird chatting when you felt you knew each other.

It's amazing now that the pregnant list is larger than the non preggers list! It gives us hope that we will all get there in the end.

I also attach too much importance to dates etc. For some reason I am dreading the Olympics as want to be passed the dreaded 12 week window by then which I know is ridiculous! Life just seems to be on hold constantly with the miscarriages over the last 2 years. I now try and forget due dates as there seems to have been too many!

Right better get on with SWI tonight! Poor DH feels used at the moment!!

Igg great you have got to 12 weeks, just the 20 week scan to go now and then you are home and dry!

Forgot to tell everyone - nothing to do with MMC etc but I got a great bargain on Sat as saw a gorgeous dress in Monsoon but managed to get £20 off as saw a voucher in December's issue of Easy Living magazine. Seeing as its party season, just thought some of us might be thinking of splashing out on a new dress or might need a new one to accomodate the new bump!!

suemays · 16/11/2011 22:09

Also forgot to say, my GP prescribed me my next 2 rounds of Preds on the NHS (I have 4 with Dr S). She also took my BP so that I didn't need to go back to see Dr S after my 2nd round of the preds. I checked with Louise and she said that was fine. Saves a bit of money for the ladies TTC.

cherrycheeks · 16/11/2011 23:12

Just a quick hello as on the way home from work.. Seems like a day of good news, great scans and infusions sorted!
Will catch up with all the posts in the next few days.. 5am alarm call in the morning... ZZzzzz

freelancegirl · 17/11/2011 01:20

Bleurggh! I feel rather exhausting and, dare I dream up a symptom, even a bit nauseous. The clinic was fab - so good to be on the same page as people here. A lovely girl looked after me for the hours I was there - she was 4 months pregnant after IVF (second IVF child). We had a really good chat. They also tested my HCG (I am indeed pregnant...270, indicative of around 4 weeks)and Progesterone levels are good (35) although of course I did tell them I am on my second day of Cyclogest suppositories. So, thankfully, intralipids all done. At least, like we are saying, I can say I have tried my best.

It was really lovely actually, we made a day of it afterwards and stopped off at laguna beach (lovely ocean-side town) for lunch and a walk.

I am really sleep deprived at the mo - jet lag, early pregnancy, sleeping on a couch, waking up at 4am every morning...and am really sorry I can't repspond properly right now. But so pleased to hear everyone is ok today and am sure I will probably catch up better when I am up again come 4am! xx

Stogan · 17/11/2011 06:46

Pleases you got sorted free and it was a good experience. Take care hunni xxx

Good luck to all with scans today xxGrin

ChoccyPud · 17/11/2011 07:41

That's great free, now we're all sorted as far as we can be for now :)

Good luck to those with scans today.

Arianrhod · 17/11/2011 08:29

Morning guys ... great that you got the intralipids free, and excellent that they tested your hCG. One of the nurses yesterday said I should go and ask my doc to test mine, if I'm still getting faint lines on my tests. But ... well, I was getting cramps last night, and again this morning, so I'm thinking it probably isn't going to be worth it. I can't shake the feeling that this is going to turn out to be another chemical/early MC, but who knows .. playing the waiting game, but no optimism I'm afraid.

sue Excellent that your GP is on board with prescribing you the pred ... isn't it amazing how different things are from one PCT to the next? My GP really wanted to help but said she would get hauled over the coals by her PCT if she did, since they don't recognise or approve the treatment.

kittens I love the thought of the guys standing around discussing these things! Glad to see men are becoming a bit more enlightened :)

Morning ladies! Good news all round it seems. I turn 35 today and was dreading it to be honest - another year with me and DH talking about the antics of our cat Oscar Wilde! But am feeling positive today.. We have day off so off to boozy lunch soon. Have a good day lovely ladies- so glad to have found you all xxSmile

Arianrhod · 17/11/2011 10:56

Happy birthday duggs, hope you have a great day!!

OP posts:
digitalgirl · 17/11/2011 11:14

Well done for getting it all sorted free you are amazing, deserve a massive pat on the back. Not everyone would have the confidence to organise intralipids out there.

duggs happy birthday! Enjoy your boozy lunch!!

ari if there's no bleeding then the cramps are officially implantation cramps. Are you taking the cyclogest?

Arianrhod · 17/11/2011 11:21

Thanks digi but how can they be implantation cramps at 13 dpo? I got some cramps 7 dpo and 8 dpo (although wasn't sure if that was wind from the pred!!), but I understood implantation to be over by 10 dpo? And yep, I'm taking the cyclogest, what a pleasant experience ;)

I am trying to be positive, honest, but I'm really struggling ... those faint lines have really thrown me :( I have stuck to my guns and not tested today though, but mostly because I couldn't stand the worry if I got another faint line!!

OP posts:
suemays · 17/11/2011 11:29

Duggs happy birthday - you are still young in the fertility game so don't worry about turning 35! Enjoy your lunch.

Free glad you have the intrallipids sorted and great that your levels are rising well.

Ari dont read too much into the cramps as it probably is implantation. You are bound to be panicking though as I know I will when I get a BFP. I read that you can still implant at 13DPO as that's what I thought was happening to me last month (but it wasn't). Why don't you get the blood test at the docs to confirm the pregnancy? Good luck anyway and fingers crossed its just your body adjusting.

It is amazing how diff docs will prescribe different things. I think she feels sorry for me as she knows my whole history and her friend has been through 8 miscarriages and now has a healthy baby after taking clexane.

pureequeen · 17/11/2011 11:38

happy birthday duggs!! Have a great day. MY 35th is looming in a few months and I am making such a big deal out of it in my head - I can appreciate how you might be feeling.

By the way are we still on for a meet up in London on Tue 6 Dec? Have babysitter booked and all (DH works late every night so forward planning required for everything...). I guess we need to PM the exact details.

snoopygirl · 17/11/2011 11:43

Happy Birthday duggs you spring chicken! have a glass for me!

digi yes next on the list..........must keep busy must keep busy

ari sorry you gettin cramps it is such a worry and probably nothing is really going to put your mind at rest - we will still worry but it is probably just your body adjusting.x

free great you got drip sorted and had a lovely day to relax you a bit afterwards, as all sounded stressful trying to get it sorted.

digitalgirl · 17/11/2011 11:46

ari bean continues to bed in a bit more even after 'first contact'. In my pg with ds I had brown spotting followed by cramping and red bleeding from week 4 to 7. Was hideously stressful but only explanation doctor could give was 'implantation'.
This pg I had waves of cramping all day at exactly 5 weeks. Tried my hardest not to freak out and continue pretending I wasn't really pg.
I know neither of us know whether the cramping means anything at this point but the more you can do to distract yourself and keep your mind occupied the better.

puree am still up for meet up. Think duggs has venue details.

duggs shall we pm you our email/mobile details?

duggs1976 · 17/11/2011 11:55

thanks for the wishes guys !

Yes Tuesday 6 Dec meet up is def still on.. I've an idea where we could go in central London.. will check it out and post and see if people happy with the bar.

I've updated the spread sheet.. I know some of the early BFP ladies feel a bit nervous.. however, you've got your BFP's and that is a closer step than BFN's and you are doing all you can to move forward. Positive thoughts.

Have put the post 12 weeks ladies into another colour..you are just normal pregnant ladies now ....in amongst the millions of them out there !

Havingkittens · 17/11/2011 13:03

Happy Birthday duggs. If it makes you feel any better my 42nd birthday is looming in less than 2 months. You are but a spring chicken! Your post made me laugh though as myself and OP spend an inordinate amount of time discussing the antics of our cat too.

I'm still up for the meet up too btw.

Oh, just to amuse you all, here is my tip of the day for those of you still POAS whether for OPKs or HPTs - I tend to use things like hairspray lids as a wee receptical, just make sure it's not one that happens to have a little hole in it Blush ... whoops!

Arianrhod · 17/11/2011 13:16

rofl kittens!!

Ok, I'm officially nuts, and I have no stamina, willpower, or anything else. Slap me with a wet kipper or anything else that comes to hand. Having said I'd stuck to my guns, yep, I committed a cardinal sin .. I did another FRER, and not even with FMU. It was driving me batty, not knowing. And sure enough only a very, very faint line, even fainter than yesterday's (12dpo) and the day before (11dpo). It's visible, but only barely. I am convinced this is a chemical, so now ... how do I distract my brain for the next week or so it takes for it to sort itself out?? I do take all of your points, you're all very right, but surely the lines should have got a little bit stronger if this was progressing - the fact that they persist in remaining really faint just screams 'chemical' to me.

Banging my head against a brick wall ...

OP posts:
Havingkittens · 17/11/2011 13:32

You can't compare lines under these circumsances ari! Nooooooo! If you have to do a test later in the day then you need to at least have not drunk anything or had a wee for about 4 hours. But still..... You're not even 14dpo yet for god's sake woman. I'm off to the fridge to find a large fish to slap you with (and a paper bag for you to breathe into).

With regards to my POAS misadventure, I was going to say PMSL but that was a little too close to the truth.

ColeyOz · 17/11/2011 13:34

Ari - anything is possible so try to stay positive! Maybe don't test tomorrow and test the follow morning with FMU and you should have any answer by then. Sorry - I have been there and its no fun! The next few days will be tough so big hugs and thinking of you!

Good luck to all the other newly pregnant girls too!

Arianrhod · 17/11/2011 13:35

ROFL!! kittens that really made me laugh, and god knows I need it right now! I have a vivid mental image of you (well, a lady, since I've never met you) standing in her bathroom with little drops of wee dripping out of a hairspray lid containing a diminshing amount of wee Grin

Please please do slap me, I'm going completely mental here .. and just make sure that paper bag doesn't have more HPTs inside :)

OP posts:
snoopygirl · 17/11/2011 13:37

That's funny. My poas recepticle is a glass green tealight holder in bathroom cabinet. DS said the other day what's this mummy? and I said never you mind but never ever use it for night time drinking water!

ChoccyPud · 17/11/2011 13:45

Ari stop it. Now. You know there's nothing you can do by poas-ing any more. What will be will be. You are taking all the drugs. All you can do is wait and see. Mentalling is only going to make time go even slower and stressing yourself out going round in circles is not going to help.

Ok, we talked about how we both hate the lack of control. That's fine. Let's look at getting some control over your confusion. One thing I would suggest is go get hcg tests. NLC will do for £60. Go tmrw and Monday or else 48 hours apart. You can then find out if your levels are (a) within range for 4wks and (b) going upwards which will indicate all is as ok as can be at this stage. You'll have to deal with the needles but in the grand scheme it's got to be worthwhile.

Big hug :)

I'm up for the 6th. Suggest Duggs pm's those attending... Not sure how public people want venue to be made? I'm not exactly public about my situation...

Happy birthday Duggs!!

Havingkittens · 17/11/2011 13:45

Little drops? Hmmm, I wish! It was more like a very narrow, but very steady stream. lol. I need to pee quite badly when I did it so was quite generous with my sample. Luckily I was just out of the shower so there were no clothing casualties. Very elegant Blush I will revert to my usual receptical which I had taken to work yesterday to test as I left for work at 6am (eek!) yesterday which was too early to do and OPK.

Arianrhod · 17/11/2011 13:52

Yep choccy you are of course absolutely right. Unfortunately I can't get anymore time off work right now, and NLC is a three-quarters of an hour drive away from here :( I have looked around to see if there's anywhere in Woking that would do private hCG tests but I can't find anywhere, which is a pain. I'm just going to have to wait and see, but that waiting is killing me :(

duggs hope you're living it up today, 35 is reallly young from where I'm sitting Grin
