iggi lots of luck for today, hope it's nothing - I know it doesn't help but I know lots of women have spotting and/or bleeding in pregnancy and it still goes ok. Definitely call the EPU, get scanned - it's worth it, honestly, at least you will know one way or another. Virtual hugs coming your way.

free I also started AF properly this morning, so looks like we may be both importuning a friendly witch for a good fertility spell on Hallowe'en? I know exactly what you mean about the scary stuff ... a small part of me was actually sort of relieved when I didn't get a BFP purely because it means I don't have to go through the whole worrying about miscarrying all over again. Bizarre, but there it is.

hello - I have arrived safely back from London. The fertility show was good - brownie I went to the recurrent Mc lecture which your consultant did. He was very good - answered lots of questions. He did say about NK testing that it is controversial (which we know) and that blood nk cells are very different from uterine NK cells , and really its the uterine cells that should be tested if any for immunology. But he wasn't dismissive at all, and was very reassuring. He also said - men over 40 who have a partner over 35 can increase MC rates (oldies - me!)

The other lecture I went to was by a nutritionist - who talked about preventing mc through diet and supplements. She also talked about immunology - said how good D3 is and how she really believes in it. She also said that there is some suspicion that men who use lap tops regularly - are at risk of damaging sperm - the heat from the lap top etc - especially if they sit with their knees together. She is doing a free on line forum on the 18th November at 8pm - let me know if anyone wants the link. She is all for doing a 12 week programme for men and women before conception - and had stats to show it improves agg and sperm quality. Lots of stuff about zinc, vitamin E and C too.

I had a 10 minute session with Zita west. She was impressed with the treatment I am having and said really the only difference they would do is intralipids - even though I have not got Very high Nk cells. She too was reasuring, and said just to keep to the treatment plan. There were lots of stalls trying to sell stuff - someone did a zinc test on me and announced I should be taking 5 x the amount of d3 that I am taking. I told this to Zita and she said 'rubbish - trust Mr S and his treatment - don't vary from it'.
I also got lots of freebies including a FR test :)

Sue I am on 7dpo too :) When are you testing? I am trying to hold off - I am not a fan of early testing but want to stop the pred asap if I get BFn. No symptoms to speak off though. stogan realistic dreams are a nightmare. I frequently dream about being pregnant and losing it , it really is very sad. I prescribe chocolate - and an airgun for lone magpies :) (only joking :) )

I got a positive opk last Friday - 28th so I'm guessing I'm 8 dpo. Symptom spotting driving me mad too ladies. When would you say i can test - monday ? 10 dpo? I wont get a positive then. My face is v round right now. what you heard about blood testing and uterine testing as doesn't dr s say is inaccurate - almost impossible to test uterine because of periods and timing!

I had acupuncture today - my second ever. Not sure what difference it made if any but felt useful and I relaxed for a while.
Any other news ?

Hmmmm, with regards to the men over 40 and women over 35 comment.... Oh dear! I'm nearly 42 and my OH is 46. Oh, and he uses a laptop a lot. Yikes!

Battery and Duggs - I got my positive on Sat 29th. Thinking of testing on Fri 11th or 12th as don't think anything will show up before then. Thats the plan but I am guessing impatience will kick in and I will do it before!!!

Battery - I am going to keep taking the preds for 14 days unless my AF comes or I get a BFP. I dont want to stop taking them early incase a BFP does appear at a later date!

Encouraging that Zita West backs what Dr S says. It really is a minefield on who to listen to. I have heard the thing about laptops and also mobile phones in men's pockets. Hard to stop them doing that though.

One of my friend going though ICSI was told that men's sperm levels dramatically reduce around the age of 40 therefore making it harder to get pregnant. That's another thing to worry about - great!

Kittens - I am sure you will be OK, there are loads of people your age and older that have kids with no probs. At least we have had tests etc done so it rules out a lot of things to worry about. A friend of a friend just had her first at 48!!! Get your OH to put his laptop on a cushion.

Duggs - did you get my email about meeting up nearer to where we live instead of London? I suggested a pub in Farnham Royal so its close to the M40 and M4 if anyone else wants to join us???

Really interesting battery - it's nice when you have validation from another professional to keep going with Mr S. Was it Zita herself? I have one of her books - there's a lot about nutrition and lifestyle in there.
I'd stopped taking my D3 but might get back on them again (skin has gone to pot since coming off the roids - I'll spare you all the list as it's embarrassing, but I am affected by various afflictions from head to foot).

stogan hope you're feeling a bit better today. The Fear does creep up on us even when we think we're fine. Bad dreams are perfectly normal after everything you've been through - and certainly don't mean anything other than you're worried.

duggs you get slapped with a wet haddock for testing so early! But only a little one because you've been so fab at organising the meet-up.

Didn't make it out to a display last night, which is just as well as dh suddenly developed a migraine and we all went to bed about 8pm [pathetic emoticon].

Having a bit of a chuckle thinking about Digis all over skin issues! Not in a sadistic way, just it made me think bits were falling off you :) My skin has actually been very weird recently, lots if in-grown hair type bumps everywhere that don't respond well to the usual scrub/ moisturising treatment. With the Pred I definitely noticed being a bit hairier too! Thank goodness it is going now.

Battery the show sounds fascinating. I really wish I had gone along to film it and interview all those people. Is it just once a year? Am bring really crap with the doc actually as haven't done any filming for ages, but going down Brighton seafront later to film some opening sequences now whilst am back to an almost normal shape before 'blooming' again. My theory on uterine tests v blood tests is that - isn't the treatment the same anyway? I guess the only thing we could find out is whether the levels in our blood are similar to thd ones in the uterus. Also pleased to hear that Zita West is so behind mr s' treatments.

Sorry for the lack of bold and direct naming but am on the mobile. I just wanted to say that I madly symptom spotting too and I really wish I'd temped or poas or something to let me know when I've ovulated. One part of me feels we stopped too early but another part is imagining all sorts of implantation cramps and early pregnancy symptoms. Am having a few pre-af style cramps, weird energy highs (prob the Pred), quite emotional and occasionally some nausea. All could be meds. And all very different to the last time I fell pregnant. I notice am testing a bit later than my fellow cycle buddies! 16th nov will actually be my 14th day of Pred so I might test that day. Am looking into intralipids in LA (as you do!) just in case.

Cycle buddies, share your symptoms! I do love those websites where people list them all. I am writing mine all down in a calendar too.

Oh, talking of age I am 36 but dh is 48!! He doesn't look it, as Digi can probably testify, but not sure what that means for his sperm. I asked mr s about this and he said if the sperm is good enough to get pregant the sperm is good enough. But we never know do we.

I'll test next Sat which will be 11dpo. I'll stop the Pred on day 14 of taking it if no BFP but expect paranoia will mean another test even once AF has arrived as last month!

Sympton spotting...ah yes. Well, I'm trying not to but have had occasional twinges in various places over my abdomen. Doesn't seem to be wind(!) but with the Pred you never know. No nausea but I didn't feel particularly sick with pg and I tend to eat little and often which is supposed to help anyway. My Mr Greedy belly has been gradually growing over the months. It shrinks while off the Pred but gets all bloaty again quicker and quicker each month... I guess as and when I get pg again no one will notice a difference and will just assume I've been getting all porky! Rather bizarrely, I seem to have laid down a layer of fat on my back, and have expanded somewhat in that direction too.

I've become a little more hairy over the 4 months of taking it too. Nothing obvious but I notice. Skin is of variable quality anyway, I often have a few zits so no real change there, it just never clears completely and I tend to find that it's worse when I'm run down or low emotionally which I am becoming at this stage. The monthly rollercoaster is taking its toll, especially with the blip in September but there's always the renewed hope each new month and I start again knowing there's an enforced break after another two months so may as well keep going until then.

Anyone else want to share and compare?? And remind me why we're making ourselves so unattractive?!

I finally have had a chance to read through the thread, it really is a great help to know that there are fellow kindred spirits around.
Apart from DH(obviously) no one knows about the MC's.. I am lucky enough to have DD who is 2 next year, but before that pregnancy I had a termination for medical reasons. It really was devastating.. more so than the recent MC's if I'm honest as then I still had that innocence that TTC/pregnancy/giving birth was straight forward.. We also had told lots of friends and a few family members about the pregnancy as we were so excited and it was SO hard telling them all that it was not to be.
Anyway, that's why I keep it all to myself now( apart from you ladies, of course) as if things go wrong again it'll be easier to deal with.

Stogan my DD was also a karate kid in the belly when I ate chocolate, I remember on day on the tube she kicked so hard whist I was eating a flake that you could see the kicks through my clothes and one poor guy almost had a heart attack!

Its the third cycle of pred for me.. this time I don't seem to have so much energy and have no problems sleeping.. hope that's a good sign

Good to hear you're feeling better stogan and that the little one is back in action.

When I went for my appointment at Epsom & St Helier, they weighed me and I was 2kg lighter than I thought. I checked on my scales and I'm about 5 or 6 lb lighter on them. As I've been in France, eating much cheese and not being very disciplined with my eating and not been to the gym for 2 months either (which I was doing for a few weeks before I went) I can only assume that 2 months off the steroids has a lot to do with it. Can't say much about spots or hairy-ness as this has been the bane of my life for quite some time anyway.

Stogan, so glad you're feeling a bit happier and that the chocolate cake got the bean wriggling!

Cherry, really pleased you can make the meet up. It must be really hard not having anyone in rl to talk to about it, but I understand your reasons behind it. I am in this weird situation now when people have spread my news slots over Facebook and even strangers were coming up to me at this party last night and saying they had seen me in thd paper!

Kittens, how marvellous about the weight loss. Funny, another thing I have ever had done with mr s is been weIghed! I am weighing myself at home though and still not happy with my Pred/mc chub. Last year I was probably a bit too thin (wedding, work quieter with plenty of time to go to gym) but am still a stone heavier. I should stop beating myself up really as am still a size 10-12 but I can't help it.

Oh, am feeling quite nauseos now which i am trying not to going as an early pregnancy symptom but more because a) the hydroxy can have that side effect and more embarrassingly b) I've just eaten almost a whole packet of Jaffa cakes!

Am on train back to London now so will try man up abs get back to work.

Very interesting reading through symptoms Choccy - I have developed a 'fat' back which is apparently part of the side effects associated with moonface. A quick low down on my body might help to cheer some of you up: very rounded face, fat shoulders and neck, red spots over face and chest area - moving down - Mr Greedy tummy, large clexane injection bruising, constipation and nasty legs which, in fairness, has nothing to do with any medication but has always been the case! On Tuesday I move to 30 mg of pred so at least am on my way down I suppose.

On a lighter note I have had a lovely day with DD as we decided to tell her about the pregnancy as so many people have started to know following my hospital stay. We took her out for breakfast and then said that her new sibling would like her to build a bear to remember the day and so spent some time building and clothing an overpriced bear - but worth it. At bedtime she said it had been one of the best days of her life. I know how lucky I am to have her and to be pregnant again and I hope that stories like this don't make people TTC feel bad - I really can't believe we have got to this point. Since losing DS I have longed to be able to give her news like this and so today just decided to enjoy it and for once not panic about what the next few weeks may bring.

Good luck to everyone testing over the next week of so - I found I had almost no symptoms at all but for a small implantation bleed.

Booking in on Tuesday - understand exactly how you felt Iggy - feel like I should be waiting until about thirty weeks so that I'm a real pregnant woman!

Oh Comedy your post just made me cry happy tears for you. that's sounds like a wonderful day and your DD saying it's best day of her life...boo hoo hoo..so sweet. I can't wait for the day I may be able to say those words to my son. Don't feel that you make anyone feel bad after what you have been through you deserve all the luck in the world! xx

Snoopy I always like the pre-ovulation bit best - a time of hope and you can still live a normal life!

Morning all .. just popping my head round to say, nothing to say here! 3DPO so nothing doing in the symptoms stakes, although I'm still not convinced I did actually OV .. the CBFM lack of peak although OPK smilie face has really thrown me. I've always found the CBFM to be 100% reliable before, and I've been using it for about 9 months (in between MCs of course) now, it's always been ultra reliable. So I don't know if I just didn't OV this month, but then I've also always found the CB digi OPKs ultra reliable too. It's doing my head in!

So, assuming I did OV on Fri, the day after I got the pos. OPK, then I'll be testing .. hmm.. well 12DPO would be the 16th Nov. I'm not even going to bother testing on 10DPO, I think that a complete waste of an HPT. Second cycle of pred for me, this is the 4th day of taking it and it's already messing around with my sleep, I kept waking up on and off all last night.

I've updated the list with my theoretical testing date but I do have a feeling it's a waste of time this month ..

Hope you're all doing well this morning and Comedy so lovely that your DD now knows, she can start getting excited :)

Just a v quick symptom question ladies. Today is 6 dpo. Keep getting twinges on my right hand side that aren't agony but make me want to bend over that way in comfort. Implantation?? Its quite sharp pain but not too bad I'm not publicly/obviously wincing ifkwim.

I know the answer is "it could be" but just asking for others experience as don't recall having this previously and I've mostly had such early mc's that they may have been chemicals without implantation.

Hard to say choccy, since being on the Pred I get pains at around 7dpo every month. To me, implantation has always felt like a little worm burrowing, a sort of sharp, very localised sort of zapping feeling. Kind of hard to explain but then others may have different types of implantation feelings.

Interestingly, I am having my most normal period since my last m/c. I don't know if the Pred makes my periods lighter or whether it's just a coincidence but all my periods whilst on Pred were 2 days long and not much more than spotting. The first one off the Pred I actually used tampons a couple of times and the same this time, but even a bit heavier than last time and I'm on day 4. I'll be interested to see what the next one is like when I am back on the Pred. Anyone else had similar experiences? I wonder whether my womb being able to have a proper "clear out" will improve my chances of conception after almost a year of hardly any bleeding.

I wish I wasn't so bloody old. I am reluctant to start TTC again as all the timings of having to be at home at particular times of the month are really not helpful at the moment with my mum's health situation. But I don't have time to loose when it comes to TTC either. Being an emotional mess is also not helping my libido .

Take heart kittens ... Mother Nature's an amazing creature, and you often hear of older ladies having babies these days. I'm almost 44, my DP almost 50, and we're still trying against all the statistics. You're going through a rough time, but hang in there, we're here when you want to let off steam. Remember we can only do what we can do, to the best of our abilities, right? Be gentle on yourself :)

Libido - what's that again? . Mine left a long time ago!
I never would've thought I'd be trying for a baby in my 40s, but that's just how it's worked out. (Started trying for no.2 when I was 39, but then all the "fun" started).
If I'd tried in my 20s it might have been easier, but I'd have been with a completely unsuitable man, looking back!

Good news on the scan Comedy!

I can?t make the 3rd December as we will be in Bruges for the weekend. I can provisionally do the 6th, but this is dependent on me getting my dissertation finished (due in on Friday 9th - eek!).

Battery ? the fertility show sounds really good. It?s so great to hear that Zita West was encouraging about the treatment too. I have to admit I do sometime wonder what the hell I?ve been doing putting all my trust in Mr S. So far, he?s proved himself to be right with so many of us though.

Comedy ? What a sweet way to tell your dd about your pregnancy. We?ve got one of those build a bear places near us and I sometime take ds in for a browse around. We?ve never actually built one but I imagine it?s great fun for them to choose all the bits and pieces. A lovely memento for her.

I took my last pred today. Halle-bloody- lujah. I can NOT wait to have a full night?s sleep. Interesting to hear that your skin?s gone to pot Digi. My face feels really greasy at the moment, which is very unlike me. It must be a reaction to coming off the pred. Maybe I?ll get the rash soon too. I?m also constipated which is a new thing for me. And I feel really fat. I?m too big for most of my clothes, but too small for maternity wear. So am spending a lot of time with my top button undone letting it all hang out. (Thankfully I?m at home today so no-one can see me.)

I?m very excited on behalf of all this week?s testers. Will be logging on religiously for updates.
