New thread for some serious metalling. We are ramping up the amps and churning out some Metallica, Nirvana, ACDC, Stone Temple Pilots... with the occasional 90's rave music!! Grin

If you have miscarried and are ready to TTC again, come and join us in the WTF cycles with the odd VIP ticket to the padded cell for some serious mentalling (now known as Metalling)

eve are you going to have an early scan?
wellies here is to the next month for you and DH

Karotyping results are in, no issues for DH or I
So we have ruled out clotting and genetic
Looks like its going to a hormonal/thyroid issue as suspected and there is not much they can really do about that I think!
Will obviously be asking thebugging the hell out of theconsultant a lot of questions next week in terms of plan of action.

I have a feeling he is going to tell us to just plough on though

I wonder if I really need to see a reproductive endocrinologist instead?
Does anyone have experience of that?

MsScarlettInTheLibrary · 26/10/2011 22:11

Congrats on the BFN wellies. I was astonished to get mine 6 days post MC. Would so love to know what's going on in there so I can plan accordingly. Feel daft getting my hopes up for this month so I'm planning on sticking my head in the sand instead - to be honest I want no part of early pregnancy any more, I'd much rather not know, it's too stressful.

Mind you mid-pregnancy is not looking much better for me these days either. Maybe I should just wait until something starts booting me in the insides, eventually. Doesn't sound a bad plan, to me!

farfallarocks · 27/10/2011 08:09

scarlett I know the feeling, its tempting not to test for ages isn't it just to avoid the mentalling!

eve34 · 27/10/2011 10:10

Morning all

Blue - hope you are feeling better today?

FF - Hope you get some answers - sadly sometimes these things just happen - sorry if I have missed soomething vital to make that sound heartless. My sister's first daughter died at 24 weeks. She now has a fully on 6 year old. It will happen for you.

MissS - Things have a habit of working out. Fingers crossed you get your bfp soon.

No - no early scan I don't think, we mc at 11 weeks so not much point really. Have midwife appointment on Monday afternoon. Don't really want to tell work until we know all is well after the scan so not sure what to say.

Me and DS are enjoying half term, not got up to much soft play and library weather is rubbish so nice just to relax and not rush around.

Hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend. :-)

pebspop · 27/10/2011 10:16

i tried the waiting thing last time scarlett i thought it would make make it easier and quicker if you find out when you are 8 weeks. i went for an early scan though and was only 6 weeks as my cycles were a bit of a mess so i didn't know my dates properly. grrr... i thought i was being very clever pretending i wasn't pg so that i could have less time to worry!

won't be able to do it this time though as i need to take my aspirin from bfp so need to find out asap.

BlueCrane · 27/10/2011 15:31

Afternoon all

far sorry the results don't give any clear direction - how frustrating!

scarlett and pebs the first few weeks do seem to last forever and skipping them would definitely be good! this time I was determined not to find out too early but then got a stinking cold and thought I'd better just check before dosing up and thus got my bfp before AF was even due so the wait has felt even longer!!

eve feeling a bit better today...managed to get up early and train into central London, spend over an hour on a guided tour of a building we're looking at with work, then site through an hour long meeting without feeling sick Smile did start to feel very rough on the way home but I think distraction and fresh air definitely help keep the sickness at bay!! Hope all's well with you - it's awkward re. when to tell work etc. I had MW booking app and early scan in the same week so had to tell them otherwise they'd have wondered what was going on! Shame it couldn't have been this week when you're off for half term! How many weeks are you now? Think you're not far behind me (I'm 9+4 today)!

Hope everyone else is well? We have PILs popping by this evening en-route back from visiting my new niece born on Tuesday, we're going to meet her on Saturday and then need to get packing for our New York trip next week...what are the chances of me managing to convince the check-in staff that I should get a nice upgrade to business class since I'm pregnant?!?! Probably fairly slim I guess...

Having a bit of a boring, allowable cheese and cracker thing today, anyone want any?? Happy to throw in some more exciting cheese (brie, stilton etc) and some Wine or port for those prefer that Smile

MandaHugNKiss · 27/10/2011 16:00

Yay for bfn wellies (so odd to say, but y'know)

fall I hope there are answers for you, even though all the 'obvious' ones are coming back ok. I don't have any experience with a repoductive endocrinologist... but you can bet your bottom dollar plenty on MN have so maybe start a thead asking?

blue There is something to distraction/fresh air/doing something 'different' I'm sure, as I felt fine sunday evening when out for Matrix Live yet feeling just as awful as ever since.

Still, you know what cheers you up in the depths of ms, when the weather is cold, grey and drizzly?

MNHQ pm'd me that I was the draw winner of a thread asking for comments for We Need To Talk About Kevin... £200 Amazon voucher! Haven't stopped smiling

welliesandpyjamas · 27/10/2011 16:28

Hooray for Manda!!! Well done! I love it when happy, lucky things happen to people Grin Go on, spend it all on yourself, forget xmas Wink

BlueCrane · 27/10/2011 16:35

Good stuff manda Grin definitely a thing to cheer you up on an MS filled cold, grey and wet day! Think you deserve a treat!! And glad you felt ok for the Matrix too!

Moominsarescary · 27/10/2011 16:44

Hi everyone, not quite ready to ttc yet, but thought I'd lurk on the thread if that's ok?

I had my 3rd mc 4 weeks ago at 20 weeks due to incompetent cervix and I'm waiting to see the consultant before trying again.

pebspop · 27/10/2011 16:49

welcome moonmin

i had a mc at 20 weeks in july so know how you feel. mine was due to blood clots in the placenta.

where your other mc's due to ic? will they be putting a stitch in next time.

i am waiting to try as well. my af didn't return to 12 long weeks so i am getting my cycles sorted then trying soon (xmas if dh has anything to do with it - earlier if i get my way!)

Moominsarescary · 27/10/2011 18:12

pebs No my other mc were earlier and we think the ic was caused when my son was born 7 months ago, I had cord prolapse so the cervix could have been caused by them putting the cord back and holding it in place while I had an emcs I did have pprom with ds2 +3 though so was at risk of a preterm birth

I'm sorry for your loss, will you need to have blood thinning injections next time to stop blood clots?

My dp would like to try now but I'm thinking Xmas time, the consultant did talk about placing a stitch next time, they tried with Jacob but I was too far dialated so it failed.

On a positive note my 7 month old was concieved less than two months after I had a mc at 6 weeks.

farfallarocks · 28/10/2011 10:26

Thanks manda I have already had a recommendation and coincidently, its the team at St Mary's where I am seeing Raj Rai so I might ask him about that next week at the appointment.

moomin I am very sorry to hear about you late loss, that must be heartbreaking for you.

Having a lot of ovulation pain today, just on one side, CD12 so need to decide whether we are going to try this month. Think I might just see what happens over the weekend, not try but not prevent perhaps.

Any nice plans for the weekend?

pebspop · 28/10/2011 10:27

i am going to have asprin and blood thining injections next time so i am hoping it works.

my mc happened four months ago now and at first i didn't want to try again. i really do now though just waiting for dh to get on board. i will definatley be starting ttc at xmas anyway but would love to try sooner.

pebspop · 28/10/2011 13:53

just popped on to share my shock at the cost of clearblue digital opk's!

omg! £27 for a pack of 20 on amazon and £40 in boots.

jeepers!

eve34 · 28/10/2011 14:11

Afternoon all

Peb - that is shocking !!!! They really know how to get there money don't they.

Manda - Way to go you enjoy spending you £200

Moonmin - So sorry to hear your news. My sisiters first daughter was born at 24 weeks due to same thing and sadly did not survive. She had a stich put in second time nd has a full on 6 year old daughter now. Although she was born at 29 weeks. ( sorry that is repeated from further up the page)

Hope everyone is ok, I am feeling much better now so now thinking the worst. Will just wait and see what the scan shows hopefully 2 weeks time.

BlueCrane · 28/10/2011 14:43

Afternoon all

Firstly moomin welcome, so sorry to hear of your late MC Sad please make yourself comfortable in this lovely thread.

eve I have found my symptoms seem to come and go so try not to panic, though I know how you feel - I feel awful when the nausea and tiredness are at their height, but do panic when I feel ok (rather than enjoyign the temporary relief!) Do you have a date for your scan yet?

pebs That's why I never bought any Ov kits as the price totally put me off! It's probably why a lot of the ladies on MN use a combination of the cheapy ones and just use the CB ones to 'double check' on the days they think they're getting a + for Ov.

far Ov pains is Smile worth DTD in a relaxed kind of way this weekend if you feel you can...whatever you do you will probably me metalling in the 2ww anyway.

manda when's your next scan?

Hope everyone is doing ok for a Friday and looking forward to the weekend

MarthasHarbour · 28/10/2011 18:05

hi moomins so sorry for your recent loss, i just want to say how insensitive is the term 'incompetent cervix' it is a bit like ERCP, they are so thoughtless.

Ladies i just wanted to bob on and say i am taking a little break from the thread, i shall still try and lurk but TBH i am feeling a bit phased out about TTC at the mo, i tried to talk to DH about it the other night but he just thought i was wanting to give up and not have another baby Sad thats not it at all, i am just going to try and hang up my black leather jacket and spiky boots for a little while and stop metalling.

As i say i shall try and lurk every now and again and wish you all the very best of luck and good wishes with your pregnancies and TTC full on metalling. I shall certianly see you around the boards as i love a good gossip and the odd bunfight!!

You know me - i will prob be back in a couple of weeks Wink I just didnt want to disappear

take care
Summer/Martha

welliesandpyjamas · 28/10/2011 18:48

martha sad to see you go as you are a big part of the company on here :) but I understand the sentiment. Although I am very very new to all this, I am already more than aware of the draining 'power' of MCs and the struggle to ttc. Hope a little break helps you and that we see you around plenty xx

welcome moomins, sorry to hear of your very sad loss, hope a bit or lurking on here is helpful.

Ladies, you know this fertility friend stuff? I've been charting on there since poppyjen's mention of it last week. Now apparently the last SIX days have apparently been probably fertile for me. Six days?! Surely that's wrong! Anyone else had so many 'green' days on there? Confused

Poppyjen · 28/10/2011 19:07

Wellies I usually get more than 6..... the "green" days are based on your input for the CM, so any watery or EWCM = "probably fertile" Sometimes they count the day after EWCM as well.

It is all very confusing at the beginning, and you really can't predict anything when you first start. It needs a couple of cycles before you can really see a pattern. Until then just keep plugging the information in and watch what happens Smile

The good bit is when you see the temp rise and you get red lines in a cross to show when you ovulated, it feels like a real achievement (silly I know) and it is amazing to see the difference in the temperatures, its a real eye-opener and quite empowering really to have a bit of a better idea of what's going on. Also it takes away the guessing as to how many DPO you are (and thus when to test), and also when you do get your BFP you can be more certain of your dates.

My goodness I sound like a salesperson for FF....don't mean to!

Moomins I was very sorry to hear of your loss, welcome to the thread, I hope you'll find lots of support here Smile

Marthas We'll miss you but I totally understand where you are coming from. Do check back in when you feel ready!

Hi to everyone else! Happy Friday!!!

Moominsarescary · 28/10/2011 20:18

Martha yes my consultant said it was a horrible term, the other term they use is insufficient cervix which isn't much better. Sorry to hear you are leaving for a while and I hope everything goes well for you in rl

eve it's realy nice to hear people go on to have healthy babies after ic, it's just so awful that women usually have to loose a pg in the 2 nd or 3 rd trimester before it is diagnosed, but then that goes for all undiagnosed problems

Hope everyone has a good w/e

eve34 · 29/10/2011 10:48

Morning all

Martha - hope you are going to pop in and say Hi. We all understand how consuming this can be. You are in my thoughts.

Wellie afraid I know nothing about fertility friend. Just go for dtd every other day.

I have had a terrible night very senstive and tender and sharp pains. Not looking good. DP wants to go to A and E I just think they will send me home and tell me to go back Monday :-(

welliesandpyjamas · 29/10/2011 18:12

Hi all, hope you're having good weekends. Heading for an early night here...tired squabbling boys have been sent upstairs to let me MN do the dishes in peace. Feel like we need another half term to rest from this one by now!

poppyjen thanks for the great FF help! Today was finally a non-green day!! I just didn't expect to have so many potentially fertile days. There was plenty of dtd-ing just in case, though!

Eve thinking of you. You must feel so scared. Hope the midwife visit tomorrow brings reassurance X

eve34 · 29/10/2011 20:43

And breath - 6.5 hours in A and E and 1 scan. All is well. So excited :-)

welliesandpyjamas · 29/10/2011 21:12

Phew!! Very glad for you Grin
