CLOMID first timer....

cheekycurls · 05/09/2011 17:52

I can't seem to find any clomid threads that are active, so thought I would start this one.

Currently just finished taking my last tablet (50mg) on my first month of clomid, I'm very excited & nervous at the same time.

So many things going on in my head, no one to really talk to, symptoms are a bitch (but must mean something is working if I have symptoms yeah?!) Confused

has anyone taken clomid without being monitored? My consultant isn't going to scan me to check on follicles, I just have to go back to see her in 3 weeks (not sure what for?) Blush

Really hoping this works! Hmm

But if anyone wants to join me on a clomid ride, share info or success stories, feel free to...... Smile

Thanks meluv sweetheart. Sounds like you had the full lap and dye done - apparently you can also just have the dye. The dye is a fertility test but I guess if you have the lap and they remove some cysts that could be considered treatment?
What was it like, was it bad to recover from?

summerintherosegarden · 13/11/2012 18:22

PS Please don't feel gutted because it wasn't great news for me, like I always say it's a long journey and this is the next road for me. I'm still mega excited for you meluv :) xx

goldengirl71 · 13/11/2012 18:33

Shit, Summer, I am sorry. I'm much cheered to see you've got that wonderful holiday to look forward to and all the indulgence you could want over Christmas. At first I though Feb/Mar was horribly far away but it's not! Shock Christmas is only around the corner and once shitty New Year and grotty January is out of the way (everyone is depressed throughout January) you can look forward to some serious attention being paid to your recalcitrant ovaries. I know you wanted a much more simpler ending to this, Summer, but I seriously believe you're going to get your baby. Hang on in there, my lovely Thanks xx

I know you'll only get a comprehensive answer to this in a couple of weeks when you see your consultant but what do you think they're looking for with a laparoscopy/dye?

goldengirl71 · 13/11/2012 18:41

Meluv, you deffo shouldn't feel guilty, but if you're the first one among us to fall preggo on Clomid don't think we're fucking babysitting Wink

Meluv · 13/11/2012 19:20

Summer it's just a natural feeling for a geniun person to feel Hun an that I am it totally gutted me Hun but like golden said you will get there an get your dream lovely we all will an we must all meet up with r babies when we do .. The Lappo an the die was fine Hun I recovered very well was a but tender that's it realy I had the die twice on eve when awake an it only went through my right tube the one with the cyst on at that time they said my left may be blocked or may have spazamed so I was told they would repeat it when they took my cyst away and they did thank god my left tube had spazamed cause it flowed through both fine an quick he said which ment they were in amazing working order were his words that was last year an now another cyst is back on the same dam ovary ... I wud ask if u had a cyst for them to remove it an put the die through y u r asleep luv then your tubes r relaxed best way to do it Hun it's keyhole think I had 3 lil cuts that way Hun both things r done at the same time so there is no seperate waiting time ... If u don't mind me saying this they should of done these tests an procedures before now for you then they would of known more an had a better idea of what wud work best for you big hugs lovely xxxx golden I won't move to need any baby sitting doing if my dreams cum true I will never leave my lil bundle of joys side I do hope with all my heart we all get r dream xxx

Annalou84 · 13/11/2012 20:04

meluv bloody fantastic news fingers crossed that you are preggers that would be encouraging news for all :) no pressure lol

summer happy that you are getting the attention that you should be getting, gutted that you can't take clomid :( chances are you will probs get preggers whilst you are on a skiing holiday and drinking loads of mulled wine lol you just never know :)

I'm joining the peaches hate clan, I keep seeing preg lady's everywhere and all I can do us give them evils lol not surprised I haven't been slapped lol.

I'm cd2 it's tablet of my 2nd cycle. Has anyone had more side effects taking 100mg than 50mg?????

summerintherosegarden · 13/11/2012 20:22

Aw thanks girls Thanks you are all so sweet and yes, meluv is right, down the line when we're all harrassed Mums with screaming babies we should meet up and remember these days!

Meluv, you're right, it probably would've made sense to check tubes etc before starting the clomid but that's just the order they do it at my clinic. Thanks for all the info on the op - I was thinking probably go for the lap anyway but you have cemented that choice in my mind :)

Golden, you're right too, I know that the time will go quickly between now and then. I think they're looking for anything that could make a pregnancy go awry - blocked tubes, funny shaped womb (yes the nurse actually said that!), spots of endo, big cysts... guess the reason they are doing it now is before we go into the gonal f and possibly IUI they want to make sure that I don't put my body through those more intense (and expensive!) drugs if they're not going to work anyway. I am looking forward to speaking to the consultant though because, as amazing as the nurses are (and I am truly thankful for what superstars they have been for the past three months) it will be good to chat with someone who knows the real nitty gritty of what the heck's going on in my body.

I guess I don't technically belong on this thread any more but I might keep lurking around if it's ok...need to see what's going on with all my girls' ovaries :)

summerintherosegarden · 13/11/2012 20:23

PS annalou I wish!! As for the 100mg v 50mg - I was more of a crazy lady on the 100mg, but not sure whether that was due to the drugs or due to the "oh shit it's another cycle of clomid..."

Daisydaydream · 13/11/2012 20:24

Evening everyone, just checking in again. I am more of a lurker than a poster, but I have been following all your posts for the last few days. Sending you all big hugs, and a slice of cake.

Had blood taken on Monday to see if I ov'd this month, get results tomorrow. (I had the injection though, so surely I did? Or maybe not??? IDK)

goldengirl71 · 13/11/2012 20:37

Summer, are you getting pissed? Wine

goldengirl71 · 13/11/2012 20:41

Daisy, how thoughtless of you to offer cake when we are all on a diet I'll have two slices please Good luck for tomorrow's results. I ovulated after the injection - hope you have, too Smile

goldengirl71 · 13/11/2012 20:44

Summer, only just read your last post. Please don't simply lurk...we need you Sad

summerintherosegarden · 13/11/2012 20:54

Thanks for the cake daisy, just what I needed :)

Oh and that glass of wine - no, golden, but I really should be, dammit, shouldn't I? AND I can start drinking coffee again - yes, I had even given up caffeine. Bloody hell.

Daisy, best of luck with your results tomorrow. I unfortunately didn't ovulate after the injection - but I think I am a freak and that's very unusual. The nurse did say my body was being very difficult!

Ok, I'm sticking around - I'll be the official cheerleader and bringer of the brew.

Christelle2207 · 13/11/2012 20:55

So sory for this shitty news summer at least our clinic is on the ball and moving you forward, mine doesn't want to see me for another 6 months. Lap is scary (for me anyway) but the best option to find out what's wrong, I've been offered one but trying to put it off for now. A hsg though(which I had) is a lot more straightforward and i would have thought a better 1st option as it will easily tell if there is a problem with your tubes.

golden thanks for the advice and don't worry no offence taken at all. Given the cost of paying a lot for not very much, guess I'll stick with nhs for now, as frustrating as it is! I just am annoyed that noone seems to know (or really care) what's wrong with me - I think many women who eventually get to IVF still don't know why they can't get pg, I just don't want to get to that point unless I know what is wrong so I properly understand the chance of success.

Meluv · 13/11/2012 21:19

R summer stay with us lovely don't matter what treatment u get you will always be one of my girls we need you xxx

Rosiechoice · 13/11/2012 21:39

Meluv that is fantastic news!! So so happy for you, it's brilliant that clomid is working for you. I tend to think that we have too many negatives to deal with going through all the ttc so enjoy todays results and being happy and hopeful. I hope you have more good news very soon.

Summer I'm sorry to hear that you didn't have such good news Sad fingers crossed the tests will give you more answers. So glad we have an official cheerleader for the thread Smile it wouldn't be the same without - you're not allowed to leave

Can I join the peaches hate clam? I have a lot of other people to add to the group though, soon I may not have any friends left!

Daisy good luck for your test results tomorrow

Hope you're all having a lovely evening

Annalou84 · 13/11/2012 21:41

Can I ask about this cough medicine and press seed???

goldengirl71 · 13/11/2012 22:03

Annalou, read this:

'Many books tell you that sperm can last for 5 days and the egg for 24 hours. While this is technically true on the very long end (and something to follow if you trying to NOT get pregnant), most sperm will only last about two hours if you do not have fertile-quality cervical mucus for it to swim in. The sperm will struggle to swim up to your uterus, use all its reserves, and not make it. The egg typically lives only about 12 hours, so it cannot wait for long. You can now see how important that cervical mucus is! You will never get pregnant with sperm living two hours and an egg only twelve. This information is really just to make you feel better if you've been trying a long time and all your infertility testing came back normal. If the Deanna-plan does not work and you are faithful to it for three months, take a dose of plain Robitussin cough syrup (or any cough medicine that says "expectorant" and NOT "antihistamine") each day (preferably a few hours prior to "trying") starting around Day 10 until the day after your ovulation predictor goes off. It should help make all the mucus in your body runnier, including that produced by your cervix. (Oh the gruesome details required in baby-making!) The sperm in the runnier mucus will live about two days, and will be up there and ready for the 12-hour life of the egg. A NOTE ABOUT CLOMID: Clomid causes cervical mucus to dry up in 25% of the women who take it. If you notice your mucus is not plentiful as it was before taking this drug, take the Robitussin and call your doctor to make sure your really need the Clomid. If you are ovulating on your own and do not have a documented luteal phase defect, you most likely do not need it.

Pre-Seed mimics fertile cervical fluid so that sperm can survive for longer like it does in egg white cervical mucus (EWCM). You can buy it here:

Annalou, I was wondering too. I found this article as well which has a lot of info

www.fertilityplus.com/faq/cm.html

goldengirl71 · 13/11/2012 23:38

Hoping4Baby, it sounds to me as though you were merely suffering some of the usual side effects of Clomid. I would still take it if my eyes started to bleed and fire-balls shot out of my arse - but that's just me.

goldengirl71 · 13/11/2012 23:41

...and that ConceiveEasy TTC kit looks like bullshit to me.

Meluv · 14/11/2012 07:29

Big hugs girls have a super day .. Golden r u on 100mg now luv I no annalou is what r the side affects like off that dose Hun ?

summerintherosegarden · 14/11/2012 07:50

Hoping4Baby this is a support thread, not one for advertising. I have reported your post as spam.

meluv feeling tired could be a good sign!

Ladies, question for you all. I was chatting with DH last night and one of my biggest issues with this whole TTC thing is that I want to start a new job (atm I'm only working PT and want to go back to FT). I feel like things are forever on hold, and if the gonal f jabs don't work, then it'll be IVF... given wait lists etc I assume that'll take me pretty much through next year.
Do you reckon it'd be worth asking to skip the gonal f and go straight to IVF? Or do you think it's worth trying everything the doctors can throw at me? Confused
