CLOMID first timer....

cheekycurls · 05/09/2011 17:52

I can't seem to find any clomid threads that are active, so thought I would start this one.

Currently just finished taking my last tablet (50mg) on my first month of clomid, I'm very excited & nervous at the same time.

So many things going on in my head, no one to really talk to, symptoms are a bitch (but must mean something is working if I have symptoms yeah?!) Confused

has anyone taken clomid without being monitored? My consultant isn't going to scan me to check on follicles, I just have to go back to see her in 3 weeks (not sure what for?) Blush

Really hoping this works! Hmm

But if anyone wants to join me on a clomid ride, share info or success stories, feel free to...... Smile

Well I have 100mg. Confused my doctor has now said I can have another cycle after this or I can do the click n go app at the fertility clinic. So fingers crossed :)

CD1 slightly better mood itchy boobs tho!!!!!

summerintherosegarden · 12/11/2012 18:30

Superovulation, I'll take it! I'll take any bloody ovulation at this point!

Your chicken sounds yum - putting it on the meal plan for next week. Think I'll skip the feta, possible overkill, but why no love for the yogurt? I am big into the yogurt - eat it plain, sweet, savoury, all the bloody time! If I get osteoperosis I will be dumbfounded!

Annalou84 · 12/11/2012 19:02

Thanks for the recipe golden sounds bloody lovely

Rosiechoice · 12/11/2012 21:49

golden your recipe sounds lush, 1 to add to the cookery books for sure! It truly puts my spanish omelet to shame that I threw together after a half hearted circuits session!

annalou sorry to hear about af, fingers crossed for 100mg though!

Super ovulation sounds brilliant! I read on a different page about someone on clomid who was scanned and they had 10 follies growing, the doctors told her not to have sex, it was funny some people were telling her to go for it anyway, others told her to do as the doctors told her.

I have a question for you all, how accurate are clear blue ovulation tests? I've just done 1 and got 2 lines, I've NEVER had anything as positive as that, it says they're 99% accurate but will the clomid 'mess it up'? So excited, but trying to be calm about it all

Annalou84 · 12/11/2012 22:10

Rosie what's your cycle day?

Meluv · 12/11/2012 22:10

Rosie I think one of the girls on hear had quite a few follies growing an was told not to have sex I was one that told her too lol ... I not to sure on results of OPK test with clomid I got two lines a few weeks ago Hun an was over the moon but my bloods will tell if I ov or not have to wait an see should get my results tomorrow fingers crossed Hun .... I have a question has anyone wanted to pee loads as I have these last two days

Rosiechoice · 12/11/2012 22:20

Annalou Im CD18

Meluv Lol, I think I'd be tempted to anyway too, it would be a bit scary though. When I told DH about the story he would totally 'go for it' after not ovulation for such a long time it would be so difficult not to try! I'll keep my fingers firmly crossed for you tomorrow! When did you have your bloods taken, how long have you had to wait for the results? What cycle are you on? Sorry I know it'll be somewhere in the thread but it's difficult to keep track of everyone on here sometimes (being a newbie an' all) peeing more is a good sign too :) x

summerintherosegarden · 13/11/2012 07:51

Rosie I think you've got to be a little bit wary of the OPKs, I've read stories of women who've had positive lines on them but then bloods showed no ovulation, on the other hand make sure you're rocking the bed plenty just in case that OPK is right!

As we always say on here - for us reproductively challenged ladies it's nigh on impossible to pinpoint exactly when you ov, so just make sure there's sperm there to meet the egg!

If I'd had 10 follies on my first cycle I'd have abstained - after all there are lots of risks even with twins, let alone trips, quads, etc! But now I think I might go for it Blush as my follies don't seem to release eggs anyway!

meluv I REALLY hope you get sky high progesterone levels today sweetheart.

DH and I have a bet on - if my prog is less than 14 today, he gives me a massage, if it's more, I give him one. Win/win for me!

Meluv · 13/11/2012 08:05

Good luck summer am so nervouse Hun x Rosie like summer said keep bed rocking luv best to try than not an miss the opportunity it's my first cycle Hun of 50mg had cd 21 blood done an said I never ov so had cd 27 bloods to check too get my results today am 34 have one ds age 9 been trying for another ever since but only just got help this year my fault for waiting all my test came back good tubes fine done the die test just don't ovulate every month Hun although I have reg cycles but longish ones 34 days but they found a cyst on righ ovary so if this cycle of clomid don't work can't go on to 100mg till dec have to stop so they can monitor cyst grrr wish it wud burst on its own am cd 31 today Hun x

Christelle2207 · 13/11/2012 08:17

Morning all

rosie, summer is right, I would be wary of opks though I'm sure the clear blue ones are more accurate than the internet cheapies I used before I got fed up of them. I think false positives are rare though so this is a good sign if you've never had them previously - when I mean positive though I means it has detected LH - this does not necessarily mean that you will ovulate! I have given up on the opks now but as I previously mentioned temping is good as you will know when the "ship has sailed" and if you manage to diligently keep track then you will get that big temperature hike which is very reassuring. I It will take 2-3 months to get the hang of your pattern though.

annalou sorry AF arrived but best of luck on the 100mg.

meluv best of luck I think you need some good news today.

npg any news of the good or bad variety?

golden so sorry to hear about your DH's troubles - sounds like you're both coping amazingly well...morrocan chicken sounds very nice! Yes you are right about the reflexology, I am highly sceptical, my point was that putting the fertility thing to one side for a moment I actually really enjoy it, so that makes it entirely justifiable for me.

so I had my scan this morning (at 7am!!!! and i was the third girl in!), cd 12. Good news I think. She saw one dominant follicle, size 26x24x18, I think you add up and divide by three so that makes it 22mm, apparently that is quite good? Nurse really not very communicative, do you ladies reckon I should ovulate quite soon with that? Good news if so because normally I don't ovulate until day 17-18 then get AF only about 9 days later, I was really hoping that clomid may help me ovulate earlier. On a less positive note though, sorry TMI warning, I think I am getting less CM than usual which I think happens with clomid and might actually take me a step back rather than forward. So I am using sperm friendly lube, there's nothing else I can do, right? Bit pissed off with clinic because basically they've just sent me on my way now and don't want to see me again until I've finished my 6 months of clomid!

Christelle2207 · 13/11/2012 08:36

one question - is anyone here being looked after privately? If i don't get pg soon I am considering paying up. My main concern is that brochures from local private clinics appear to be all about IVF. All I want at this time is to be looked at by someone who understands my cycles and concerns and hopefully give me the right drugs and monitoring to help me along a bit, before having to go down the IVF route.

mumalah · 13/11/2012 09:16

Hello ladies ! So much has been going on here since I last posted ! I was feeling quite down after my first round, didn't result in ovulation. But our weekend away and a wedding at the weekend has lifted my spirits! I have started my increased dose this month, had a scan yesterday where I was told I had one follicle on my right ovary (only one !), but was told it was huge! So, now instructed to dtd every other day till next Friday when I have another scan and bloods. I saw a different consultant today, my usual one was called to an emergency on delivery suite. My dp is very relieved as last month the consultant recommended EVERY day till day 21 ! I love him to bits- but I wouldn't say he was the fittest he could be ! Bless him ! This one said not every day as the sperm can be diluted. I,m also trying the mucus cough medicine for extra measures !, god we will try anything ! Good luck to everyone where ever you may be in your cycle.

Hopefully2012 · 13/11/2012 12:58

Hi ladies

Rosiechoice · 13/11/2012 13:25

Welcome hopeful Thanks it is a brilliant thread!
You poor thing going through all that you have, you sound like a really strong person and hopefully it will happen for you soon! Don't be sorry, and you're not moaning! I know how good it is to talk to other people about what you're going through, its extra specially good to talk to people who understand. If you're anything like me it will 'lift' your spirits. I don't think its something you can go through on your own, you're in the right place Smile

Thanks summer, christelle and meluv I know that I must keep level headed and not get too excited about it all. This Clomid malarky is a right roller coaster. Thanks christelle I'm temping as well, I've had a fall in temperature so fingers crossed, I know it doesn't mean much at this stage but hopefully clomid is working for me, but sorry I can't help with your question, I'm not private, I did look into it whilst I was waiting for my appointment through from the consultant but didn't get very far after seeing purely how much clomid would cost

Looking forward to hearing how you both got on today meluv and summer

Meluv · 13/11/2012 13:48

Welcome hopefully an bless u poor girl I have 1 ds age 9 am on 1st round of clomid 50mg I have a cyst on right ovary too don't think clomid worked for me this month will find out when I get my blood results .. goldengirl71 · 13/11/2012 14:39

Aaargh! A morning at the gym and I've lost the thread! I'm so hoping for positive news for you Summer and Meluv xx

Christelle, excellent news about that juicy follicle - I hope it pushes out an egg, I really do. I'm also using sperm-friendly lubricant (Pre-Seed) despite swimming in the watery stuff last month (no egg white, though, and I believe that is the most important mucus). Here is a link which tells you how to increase production of runnier mucus: www.pregnancyloss.info/sperm_meets_egg_plan.htm

If you simply wish to be informed about your fertility in terms of FSH levels and day 21 progesterone I wouldn't fork out money to go private. You will find that no consultant in the land gives a flying fuck about our charts, cervical fluid or any other knowledge we have gleaned by ourselves. The private consultants will, without doubt, try to fast-track you to IVF - that is their job. If you are young, with time on your side, I would stick with the NHS for now. The caveat is that you must demand answers to all your questions (NHS consultants are paid a fucking fortune and the least they can do is be nice to us and arm us with knowledge). Ask your consultant what he honestly thinks when he looks at the picture of your ttc history. I'm 41 and told my consultant I would not tolerate him wasting my time chucking Clomid down my neck if it was merely a box-ticking exercise (which, I'm afraid, it sometimes is). The key to all this is to become as fully informed about what these people are able to do for us and what they are not. I don't think you need to go private for that.

Mumalah, hello love! Nice to hear about your chunky follicle, too! Good luck with the bed-rocking (poor DPs) and you're doing the right thing with the cough medicine - is it Robitussin?

Hopefully, bloody hell, love, you've been through the wars! Don't fret - you-re not broken - your engine just wants sorting out. How do you know your eggs are 'old'? What was your FSH (day 3 blood test) result? Is IVF an option with endo? You're very welcome to join us, anyhoo...we're all ace but I swear far too fucking much Thanks

goldengirl71 · 13/11/2012 14:46

Rosie, I hope I didn't offend you with my anti-reflexology rant. Whatever floats your boat. Depending on where I am in my cycle I can be a right imperious arse that's my excuse, anyway

41 yrs; barren witch; fucked-off that I have yet another hair sprouting on my chin; 2nd Clomid cycle; CD7; bored shitless of waiting for an extra line on pregnancy testing sticks (I'm buying a pink felt-tip pen and drawing the fucker on).

goldengirl71 · 13/11/2012 14:49

Frig me, I'm going bonkers...sorry, Rosie, my reflexology-rant apology was for Christelle [slinks off to sort head out]

goldengirl71 · 13/11/2012 15:52

Fucking Peaches Bastard Geldof is 12 weeks pregnant after giving birth six months ago! What the absolute downright fuck?!? I hate her.

Meluv · 13/11/2012 16:18

Well my lovelies I have been down all day I just rang for my cd 27 blood results an the news picked me right up an put a huge smile on my face woo hoo I've ovulated it shows .. goldengirl71 · 13/11/2012 17:07

Way-haaaay! Meluv! I'm over the moon for you, cocker! We really shouldn't raise our hopes for a BFP but I just can't help it! Grin Thanks Wine xxx

summerintherosegarden · 13/11/2012 17:53

Oh meluv that is so brilliant, you really deserve it! Fingers so tightly crossed now for a BFP - sounds like you did all the necessary!

Welcome to hopeful - it does indeed sound like you've been through the wars, but you'll be well looked after here :)

mumalah, hello again! Glad you are feeling better after all the sadness and difficulty you had last time we chatted. The new follicle sounds very promising.

Christelle, also good news, I too used pre-seed, it's pricey but if it does the trick then most definitely worth it! I never looked at going private because I live in the middle of nowhere and the only hospital near me is 100% NHS. You can self fund your IVF - same doctors etc but about a tenth of the waiting list time.

Well, not such great news for me. My progesterone had dropped right back down so expecting AF any minute. The clinic has decided that clomid isn't happening for me so I'm going to move onto the jabs, but first I need to choose between either a laparoscopy (argh spelling) or the other one where they just inject dye in your tubes.
I've got an appointment with a consultant to discuss these two options in a couple of weeks and then the op will probably be next Feb/March with the jabs presumably starting shortly after if no other obstructions found.

I feel... gutted that the clomid didn't work, pleased to have a plan, relieved to be able to ski and drink mulled wine and eat a shit load of cheese over Christmas.
Shortly before getting the blood results I found out that one of my friends has breast cancer and is having a mastectomy, which kind of puts my bad news into perspective!

Nonetheless I am officially joining the I fucking hate Peaches Geldof club.

Meluv · 13/11/2012 18:16
